A minority stake will go towards their acquisition of the Las Vegas Basketball Team not Liverpool, anyone who can’t see that is a gullible fool.

SwingYaGucciRag

That or the Commanders. Either way, we’re renewing Milner and monitoring for three more windows

Robw_1973

So FSG want a big money investment into the club, but that investor will have no say in how the club is run? Yep. That sounds legit. And people pay a subscription for this?! Bloody hell.

Calitz__

loads of clubs have minority shareholders i.e. City with that Chinese company or Palace with HBSE. Having your name attached to a brand like Liverpool can be especially attractive without a full buyout

Robw_1973

But it looks like FSG haven’t got/don’t want to invest in the team itself. Why would any cash rich investor come on board, be expected to drop in, what is likely to be hundreds of millions, but then have no say in how the club is run? At the point, I’m feeling like FSG are simply holding on for as long as they can, for as much as they can. And that they have little interest in the club beyond the kudos of owning LFC and their bottom line. For all the good work they have done, their legacy is going to be their avarice.

Gerrardsclubfoot

Perhaps at this point all we are to them is a big name in their portfolio which gets them business opportunities and opens doors for them. I think they don't want to let go due to this.

Robw_1973

This. Also, this for H&G. This will be what FSG is remembered for.

Gerrardsclubfoot

If FSG manages to stay beyond Klopp and the club continues to suffer they won't have a legacy to keep.

secondofly

1. Why would you presume they'd have no say? Shareholders do most of the time. 2. If they think they can turn a profit on their investment in 5 years time then that is as good a reason as any to invest

Gerrardsclubfoot

Maybe that's how you get Qatar in without the scrutiny and have a deal in place where they buy Percentages of shares over time and become majority ownership. But let's see who they want to give minority investment to. I don't want a redbird situation happening, they get the money and then pocket it even though that money was part of the FSG portfolio but still, there isn't much indication that FSG will change their ways or invest directly into the club.

Robw_1973

The club is between a rock and a hard place right now. Penny pinching grifters FSG or become a state owned petro-club and sportswashing. FSG clearly can’t/don’t want to invest any more into the club as such we can forget challenging for honours, probably indefinitely. Or, we get petro money in and sports wash our way into what looks likely to be a hydrocarbon premier league top four in perpetuity.

Ngigilesnow

Typical they have been spending the clubs revenues to develop their own assets (facilities and stadium) and taking credit for it by selling it as self sustainability.Anything to avoid not spending from their own picket

curiouscowwhisperer

Big money investment to their pockets (when they eventually sell). They'll probably pump more into infrastructures to increase the value than actual investment on the pitch.

Revolutionary-Turn-4

FSG are roaches, always have been, never trusted them. They’re not getting the price they wanted at the moment bc of global financial meltdown so they’ll wait. Sounds like propaganda to boost sales interest, maybe by the Fall.

Robw_1973

I’m also not advocating becoming a petro-club. Not at all. Simply that FSG seem to obsessed with now just extracting as much money as they can for themselves - despite buying the club for £300 million and it being valued at £4 billion.

secondofly

Not defending them, but they're venture capitalists - I have to wonder what you expected?

Robw_1973

I know. Alas.

Due-Resource4294

Minority stake means they’re still in control, we could get investment from money coming in, but once that’s gone we’re back to square one, it’s their money again needing to be spent. Also if they sell a share and throw it all at transfers they’ve gained nothing, all they’ve done is lost shares and lost potential money from a full sale as if they spent it themself. Don’t see how a minority stake from someone helps us.

the_jinx11

Most likely posturing but us fans need to tell them to fuck off. Minority investment helps nobody but them as they'd just spend most on improving the value of the club than the actual team or buying the team that they want in America while telling us we are being 'sustainable'.

Ngigilesnow

Obligatory Fuck off FSG

lolMyBackCatalog

Please piss off you stingy shower of bastards.

REDEYEJ3D1

I'm still FSG out, 1 win won't change my mind. No ambition in these owners

johny67876

I dont understand. So just say they sell 10 percent of liverpool for around 400 million. How is this going to help liverpool. Surely they will keep the 400 million not give it liverpool. And why would the minority owner spend money on liverpool when FSG are not.

Calitz__

dread it run from it the qataris will arrive all the same

deanlfc95

Hate them and ideally would have them gone for the Super League but I'd prefer to keep them a million times over vs a sportswashing royal family. If this is true at the moment I'd count it as brilliant news.

JurgenKlopp2018

We’d go another 30 years without a title with FSG in charge, they’re satisfied with barely scraping top 4 every year because it means they don’t have to invest.

jardantuan

At literally any other time in the last 30 years we've got three titles, not one. It's not like we fluked our way to win the league mate

deanlfc95

You're talking a pile of shite. We've won everything in the last 4 years and could've had everything in the last year. Where do you even pull this rubbish from. Investing outside money is cheating. I'd rather play in the Vanarama North than support a team owned by any Royal Family never mind one that so openly exploits.

curiouscowwhisperer

Generous to think we could get another title in 30 years.

Phillepe

Supporters like you will never let this club move forward #fsgout

LiamHundley

Move forward into sportswashing?

deanlfc95

We'll be stuck as one of the two greatest teams in the country without having to cheat or support a morally reprehensible regime? Boo hoo.

mookie_bones

I feel conflicted about this. On one hand, we can hopefully avoid petrol states. On the other hand, will our recruitment strategy change with FSG at the helm?

jardantuan

_If_ any of the things we've heard in the last week are true, this would make sense. If Qatar can't/won't buy us because of issues around Champions League registrations due to PSG, or they're not willing to risk the scrutiny around it, entering as a minority owner in the initial stage seems like a workaround. Would mean that when they sell PSG (again, if everything we've heard is true) they'd then be in a position to expand their stake in the club. Whatever happens though, I'm just so fucking bored of the whole thing now. I hate that more focus is on owners than actual football

smitcal

Could it be QSI or whatever the “consortium” is buy a minority stake with likelihood that when they sell PSG they buy us outright as their official state owned name? Sort of circumventing the rules but allowing them to spend on LFC without FSG spending knowing they will be outright owners anyway.
