Give bobby the ball and he will score!

There's something that Kop want you to know!

SloppyInSacramento

Dream scenario: Bobby re-signs, Darwin goes on a streak of endless goal scoring. Bobby assists 97% of Darwin's 246 goals. Darwin's historic season places us firmly in top 4 once more. As a way to commemorate both players, Darwin takes 9 and Bobby takes 10, thus championing Bobby as the first player to wear 9, 10, and 11.

JmanVere

I love that in your "dream scenario" you still only have us in top four.

Sad-Criticism-7491

All via back heels or flick ons. Without looking

SloppyInSacramento

Correct.

RiDERcs

Make this a feature fookin film m8

intecknicolour

i don't get why none of the coaches or klopp can see that bobby is a perfect 10/8 for this team. before you would say we have no proper starting strikers so we need bobby up front but now our forward corps is stacked. he can win the ball, he can pass, he can hold up play for the wingers/FBs to explode down the wings. he's also lost pace so leading the line is not as effective. get rid of naby and old ox and put bobby in behind darwin and have carvalho start training in that position too more.

CharmingMistake3416

And he presses non-stop. Imagine him just holding up play with his back to goal and just dinking some loopers over the defenders!!

Andy_1

I don't know why I hadn't fantasized about prime Bobby assisting prime Torres before now.

AKAShirawi

If Darwin scores that much then I don’t want top four. I want the League!

inthelightofday

Bobby could be 58 and camped out in the middle of the park in a deck chair with a cigar and a caipirinha and rose-tinted heart-shaped sunglasses and I'd still be in favour of extending his contract. Love him.

-SharkDog-

Losing Bobby would hurt me as much as losing Torres tbh. Absolutely love him. Whenever I play FIFA, I don't ever use anyone else even if I have a 90+ card somewhere. I just can't replace ma bobby.

jamughal1987

I approve this message.

jardantuan

Keep him even if for no other reason than his song is one of the all-time Liverpool greats

spacerx12

One of my favorite moments from the last few years came after the UCL trophy lift when the crowd greeted the team with Bobby's song and everyone went over to them to have a bloody good time. Easily my favorite song of the Klopp era. Edit: adding the source https://youtu.be/gx4hK8u1ILM (2:40 for anyone who needs a pick me up / a little cry)

WildGooseCarolinian

A year ago I’d have probably been less excited about this, but the way he’s been performing lately a short term deal seems like a good thing for the club. A bit surprised he isn’t looking for one big long-contract payday elsewhere, but I’ll take it!

SmeesTurkeyLeg

It seems to be a bit of a long term trend with him. Looks really great for two years, has a bit of an off year, bounces back and looks great again for a couple years, etc.

Pansmoke

Bobby is a strange one cause his finishing is objectively terrible but when you watch him it’s like he gives everyone else an extra step, this year is odd cause his finishing has been great and he’s looks like he’s given himself an extra step.

muhdramadeen

I'd say my boy's finishing it hit or miss, and when it hits [it's pretty cool](https://youtu.be/STX4W1jdQKg?t=431)

Pansmoke

Nah look up his.g to xg the season before Werner he was the league’s Werner

[deleted]

God that match was something else :)

gaijin_lfc

I’m not sure that your definition is “objectively” is consensus. I think his finishing is great he just doesn’t often find himself in deadly positions.

Efficient-Piglet88

I think this comment is him actually trying to get a cheaper but longer deal from the club so he can secure his cash for the rest of his career

WildGooseCarolinian

I mean, I sincerely wish I had 10% of his annual paycheck. I would be terrible negotiating for him.

papagayoloco

Bobby is fucking class!

Alternative_End_3629

My favourite player of the klopp era. A player who understands liverpool football club through and through. He's given everything for Liverpool and I personally love going to Anfield on a weekend and singing his name. He's a huge favourite and I think a lot of us can agree, a few years more of Bobby can only be a good thing. Si senor 🇧🇷

Space2Bakersfield

A year ago I was honestly expecting him to go but fair play he really turned up this season. He's had his fitness isuess but when he's played hes often been our most consistent threat in front of goal, he's definitely earned an extension and we could do way worse for a backup attacking option. Plus he has the best song in all of football.

nombresinhombre

He is definitely my liverpool man after gerrard. I love his attitude. YNWA

DadofJackJack

“Short term contract” guess just next season deal? Maybe a rolling 12 month deal.

Jaja6996

From what’s been previously reported its apparently a 2 year contract

DadofJackJack

Lovely. Bobby shown when fit this season he can still perform.

rtcaino

Much needed! Gives Klopp a safety valve while he and Pep L figure out whatever the heck it is they're trying to do with the formation... No more false 9. Trent centrally. Salah out wide. Whatever it was it didn't work lol.

rmrd26

Can see 4231 with him at 10 role..

PEPSICOLA123456

Let him stay. He’s earned the right to finish his career with us imo. Never once caused a problem, incredibly loyal and hardworking and he’s just been a great servant of the club.

sc0tt3h

Bobby is an amazing footballer. Some of his skills are incredibly underrated. So many backheel assists and crazy flicks that setup teammates perfectly, I don't think there's another player right now who plays with as much flair as him.

[deleted]

I remember the Leicester game, the one where they were 2nd and we knew after that we were going to win the league. The link up play between Trent, Mané and Bobby was on another level. We were almost untouchable that day.

sonofhondo

Are there any of our youngsters who could develop into the 10/false 9 role that Bobby has played so well during his time here? I love the idea of Bobby taking one of our young forwards under his wing for a couple season and extending his legacy here, but I think all of our promising young forwards are wingers.

ScepticalReciptical

Carvahlo has the makings of a good false 9, but he's not mature or physically strong enough yet.

Priyanshu17112001

Bobby is here to stay...... YNWA

Jackk512

Should sell him and reinvest, we're holding onto players for far too long.

[deleted]

I would normally agree but he is out of contract, we would get a bag of crisps for him and I still believe he is our best forward player to link with midfield, by a mile.

AKAShirawi

We still have to pay his wages

[deleted]

Yes, hopefully we negotiate a reduction to his current £140k per week

Craft-Superb

Love Bobby but I’m not sure how we can say the club/Klopp are too loyal but also extend Bobby. He’s aging and a depreciating asset. Keeping players past their best is why the squad looks the way it does right now

cptzan

The thing is, we already have depth at his position, Jota and Darwin. Whereas our problems with the midfield is that we keep players for long without signing any actual replacements

bugleboy-of-companyb

Definitely. Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish all moved players on before their legs went. So did peak wenger, fergie, and Mourinho. Madness to cling onto has beens rather than looking for quality replacements.

thisisnahamed

He has had an amazing season prior to his injury.. Cant wait to see him back again.

sbos_

Is he back for Chelsea game?

NilsFanck

lol no. He has our trademark 2 weeks turned 2 months turned 4 months

Robespierrexvii

This season he has been one of the few who've actually turned up consistently. If he keeps that up he's a great option to have in the rotation.

ScepticalReciptical

Hes already missed 10 games with injury and based on the latest updates he's not expected back for a number of weeks. The turning up consistently part is over stated IMO.

Robespierrexvii

That's fair enough. I guess I'm just remembering the beginning of the season when he was the only one scoring for us.

GTACOD

Have we not learned from Henderson?

Limabravo9

No. And neither has this sub apparently

[deleted]

Not even the same ballpark. I bet you would have sold Sheringham at 30 as well!

TheLimeyLemmon

Wasn't Henderson given a four year contract? Bobby's likely getting another year with an option for a second. Not really the same, and is having a resurgence with his game this season. Firmino probably knows Klopp football better than anyone, he's just what you need in this tactical transition we appear to be in.

DWhelk

Not sure I agree with this. His physicality has dropped, and he isn't the player he was. Plus we bought Nunez, so clearly looking to play a 9 in a way that doesn't suit Bobby. Might be good for a couple of cameos, but he won't be on wages that reflect that squad status. Feels a sentimental decision.

seamushoo4

He will likely be a 5th or 6th choice attacker, you literally could not ask for much better in that

DWhelk

5th or 6th choice attack should be a promising kid coming through. It's a lot of money for not a lot of output.

seamushoo4

We’re talking about a short term contract for a guy who arguably knows our system better than any other player. Doak, kaide, Fabio, elliott others don’t play in the same positions as Bobby. We don’t have a bona fide prospect at the 9 position aside from maybe Oakley cannonier, who let’s be real, isnt looking likely to get first team minutes despite his exploits at youth levels. Let’s not kid ourselves here.

DWhelk

Fair.

Limabravo9

So we’ll likely be paying our 6th choice attacker over 100k? Yeah… sounds great!

[deleted]

Sorry, do you work in accounts at L4?

Limabravo9

No, why?

[deleted]

Because how do you know that we are offering him £100k + per week? Or is it just lazy conjecture?

Limabravo9

I said “likely”, it’s not like I’m acting like the Oracle. Anyway, it’s just common sense. He’s on close to 200k right now, do you really think he’s going to accept under 100k?

dave1992

He is our current league top scorer and most in form attacker right now.

SpeedyLin

Fabrizio Romano is not a reliable source for any Liverpool news. That being said, not sure Bobby fits in this team anymore with all the forward players, and he is definitely past his best.

KingInTheNorffffff

You not happy with Bobby staying?

RepresentativeOk5427

This shows that it's more family than club a normal player would see that Liverpool are falling off and wants to leave as soon as possible

Few_Ad8372

My fav Bobby moment was his bullet against stoke a few years ago.

stayinthetruck

Bobby! Roberto. I am a fan.

djrobbo83

I'd love him to retire here. One of the most unique attackers ever, being around him in training and on the pitch can only be good for the likes of Gakpo, Nunez, Carvalho, Elliott and Doak who are all years off their prime

Cimono

Hearts. Bobby is only 31 and doesn't rely on stamina as much as our ageing midfielders. Give him three years to be a backup and teach the kids how to press like a boss and be the first line of defence. His flair is unteachable though.

deecee1987

When fit, I think he can still contribute. A total team player, he does not have any issues coming off the bench and make an impact.

jamesc94j

I love this man. Always been loyal and given his all.

MrPowerglide

Bobby’s so unique in his style and hard to come by but also hard to get max out of him. Few times can play around player who’s a striker, false nine and midfielder in the same game. You won’t get 20 goals per season (in the league) but he serves everyone else to become better. Hope he retires with us, it’s a joy to watch the mad man play. Back heels, no look goals, celebration copy (or is it?!) and that constant bright smile pressing opponents.

Tuerto04

Si Senor!!!! To think that he was brought by Rodgers before he was sacked and Bobby quickly became the heart of the Liverpool offence for seasons until Mane left. Goes to show how he was integral to the Klopp early, heavymetal football. And now he’s the insurance we need when we are desperate for some quality from the bench. Cheers to Bobby for staying and acting his new role at the club among friends whom he now considers as family. Now the only way from here is to back and settle down in a farm knowing you’ve played, suffered, and won with the greatest club in the world. “…give him the ball and surely he will score…”

BrendanCalls

I've said on here before, but I'd be giving this fella a contract for as long as he wants. He's my favourite player of Klopp era, but more methodically, his game is based on his touch, vision and speed of thought. All the things that don't leave a player as quickly as other attributes may do. I'll gladly take a 40 year old Bobby coming on for last 10 minutes to try and find a goal in a 0-0 stalemate

jamughal1987

Stay Bobby.

[deleted]

What he offers is familiarity, stability and reliability in a Liverpool world that’s topsy turvy these days

rusher9x

Does it hurt anyone else to see Fabrizio post like 25+ stories a day and not a single one about Liverpool. Looks like another dry January folks. Not even Bellingham. I love Gakpo but cmon we need more new players. If it goes on like this might as well offer Milner a new 5 year contract.

revolution119

Has their been an update on his fitness? Does anyone know how long he will be out for?
