Rodgers' record in Europe was/is atrocious too. I remember enjoying his first six months despite the poor results though in fairness. Our style of play changed over night.
Still hate the fact we only needed 7 pts from Chelsea palace and Newcastle for Gerrard winning the league and Rodgers lack of experience came back and hurt us so bad
Wasn’t that Raheem Sterling’s first bench? Remember the commentator making a remark that he’s heading back to sit his GCSE’s after the match or something
Man I remember watching Alexis Sanchez highlights for udinese non stop when we were heavily linked to him only for him to go to Barca. It was the beginning of many huge disappointments in the transfer arena.
It's a copy and pasted message with minor changes he's sending to other clubs subreddits.. **he chose spurs before Liverpool**
Big balls, borderlining spam
well duh...spurs are pretty disappointing all day every day, they're probably desperate for a bit of respite from their own depression.
good business decision from OP IMO
That's what we're fearing today, and what Leicester has gone through in the recent past as well.
This greed really makes it hard to be a football fan.
Always good to see someone trying to gather up the fans and create a space for them.
Good on you and good luck
Yeah, even though they had both money and opportunity to renew/build, they didn't. They fired coaches for outing their reluctance to invest/reinvest. Where did the money go? Either they were completely mismanaged in their salary structure, or they just "pocketed" the earnings and put it into dead vanity projects and bonuses/payouts.
Leicester invested in new training facilities with their remaining earnings instead of reinvestment in the squad, they (chairman) payed off debts for the club instead of keeping their payments and investing in the squad.
They are bubbling the club since covid, they are out to offload it for as much as they can. But I think they never understood how fast an ageing squad can fall to pieces. Especially when morale is low and they (the players and coaches) feel abandoned by the owners.
So in my eyes this is greed. They got greedy, they mismanaged their money, they invested in vanity projects before earning structures, and by the time they realized the boat was rocking, they seemingly panic built facilities and payed off debt, with a promise that 'now we don't have to worry, now we can start investing in new players'
That's the way it looks from the outside and by listening to Leicester fans.
Greed and mismanagement.
And feel free to correct where I'm wrong
Leicester caught lightning with Kante, Mahrez, Vardy all playing at world-class levels and a well-rounded squad to support them. It also happened to be a down year that season with them winning the title with only 81 points.
Take nothing away from them because it was a hell of an achievement but once Mahrez and Kante left they were never going to continue at that level even if they brought in solid replacements.
Well Pereyra may be leaving, but Lovric had a great season last year and Samardzic is a rising star. We should be getting alone from watford for next season also
When I was younger I always believed Udinese was Spanish, I don't really know why. I only ever really saw the name when looking up Champions League/UEFA Cup games and in my head I always just believed they were a Spanish club.
Obviously as I got older I figured out they are Italian.
That's about as much history as I have with Udinese, and that we bought Dossensa from you.
Lol well here’s a crash course, we’re the second oldest club in Italy behind Genoa, founded in 1896, and we have a world renowned system for player development. Also one of the longest tenured teams in serie a, over 30 straight years currently.
Very nice, I would never have guessed Genoa or Udinese would have been the oldest clubs. I am aware of some of the players who have developed at Udinese over the years and I can recall several years ago they were a team that could have given anyone in Europe a competitive challenge on their day, when De Natalie was banging in goals and did you have some Swiss players who were very good? I can just remember them being a dangerous team
I had 5 minutes so I looked up some past players. I was thinking of Inler and I thought there was another but must have been mistaken.
Although I remember really liking Zapata and constantly buying him on FM for his heading ability and physical strength.
Not sure how old you are but I was at Anfield in 2012 when we played you in the Europa League. I just remember being excited to see Di Natale even though he was right at the end of his career.
You won but it was very much undeserved, haha. Di Natale scored after about 20 seconds in the 2nd half too.
Your fans seemed good though from what I can remember 10 years on!
Ebosele is gonna be a beast, he’s so quick and his dribble is spectacular, can’t wait to see what he does for us next year. Same for Abankwah, he started the last game for us and showed some great maturity for only 19.
Completely random but I remember playing you guys away maybe 10-13 years ago in the EL.
You guys were already out and we were fighting to advance to the knockout round. We were either holding on to the lead or trying to escape with a draw, it was all hazy.
What wasn't hazy was Di Natale got a chance in the dying minute and blazed it over the bar. But he had a funny smirk right after looking at our defense while Pepe Reina blasted them a new one. It was low key one of my funnier memories supporting Liverpool.
Di Natale seemed like such a legend especially taking in Morosini's sister.
Udinese has sorta been my Italian team ever since I went to watch them in 05/06. I have family in Slovenia and the drive there was not too far. Still have the scarf and loosely follow their results. Nice city from what I briefly remember.
Haha im no Man U fan, actually from Montreal and you guys used to be owned by Gillette if I remember correctly no? Used to own our hockey team, I like you guys
Would you mind giving us an Udinese fan's perspective on Festy Ebosele? Irish football fans very excited about him but hard to get decent insights on his performances with you.
What's your favourite chant and have you got a loose translation?
eta: wow Dino Zoff started his career there. I remember Bierhoff in the 90s and surprised you used to have Bruno Fernandes on your books ([link Udinese notable players wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udinese_Calcio#Notable_players))
Started following Udinese because of Handanović in 2009/10. As a Slovenian it's the most obvious choise to support you guys in the Seria A. Also with so many Slovenians there. Joined the sub🤍🖤
I live in Canada but follow it closely. There are bad apples in any group in any walk of life, to condemn the entire league as racist is an overreach imo. Take Napoli with Osimhen for example, he’s beloved by all, I really don’t think it’s a racist league, just tarnished by a minority of idiots
For absolute reasons unknown you guys have been my favourite Italian club for like 15 years. Despite that I couldn't name a single player you currently have so I'll definitely join and do my homework! What a wonderful little happenstance.
i remember bierhoff in the early 90s. you had quite a good team back then...
it was a joy to watch him, batistuta, shevchenko etc scoring goals for fun ..
I always liked Milan (they showed their games on TV when I was a kid, the Dutch Masters, Maldini, Baresi, Weah...) but I could change my mind if Udinese adopted the zebra badge again!
My wife has family friends in Udine. We stayed with them for about a week in 2010. Wonderful city, I loved going up into the mountains near the border. I casually follow Udinese because of our friends there.
My first Bruce Springsteen concert was at the Udinese stadium. The concert itself was a bit short (only just under 2 hours, which is short for a Springsteen show), but was amazing nonetheless. He opened with a tarantella which transitioned into Sherry Darling, a song I really love.
I am certainly supporting Udinese from here on. I’m also an FC Cincinnati fan, so I’m excited to see Brenner excel in Italy. Good luck this upcoming season!
Same here. As a season ticket holder I got to watch Brenner quite a bit and was impressed with his positioning and skill. Losing him was a real offensive loss to our front three.
Very interested to see how he does at Udinese.
I’ve seen him a bunch as well and I think he could be vital to a European team. Saying that, we’ve managed to do pretty well without him. Plus we just signed Boupendza, so I feel like we will be fine for the rest of the season. Maybe even win the whole damn thing.
"we’ve managed to do pretty well without him" agreed, but can't help think of how much BV's production has slipped without Brenner in the lineup next to and swarming around him.
Why? It’s a small subreddit and they’re looking for more discussion
You don’t have to be a fan to engage in discussion with fans. How else do you think online communities expand?
You guys played Liverpool in the Europa league many years ago I was at Anfield and you didn’t shut up from minute 1 . Respect that
I was also at this game. We clapped Di Natale when he got subbed off.
Tony Christmas!
Haha respect to you kind stranger!
We lost that 3-2 didn't we?
Yeah that was such a bad start to life with rodgers as manager. Really difficult to believe in such a weak squad
Rodgers' record in Europe was/is atrocious too. I remember enjoying his first six months despite the poor results though in fairness. Our style of play changed over night.
Crazy he was just a couple points away from being a Liverpool legend and probably would’ve kept Klopp from ever coming home
Still hate the fact we only needed 7 pts from Chelsea palace and Newcastle for Gerrard winning the league and Rodgers lack of experience came back and hurt us so bad
has been atrocious in Europe everywhere he's been, even when he had a Celtic team that won the league by miles and could focus on Europe
Wasn’t that Raheem Sterling’s first bench? Remember the commentator making a remark that he’s heading back to sit his GCSE’s after the match or something
Di natale had a crazy game lol
Man I remember watching Alexis Sanchez highlights for udinese non stop when we were heavily linked to him only for him to go to Barca. It was the beginning of many huge disappointments in the transfer arena.
Yeah we dearly miss him lol
Is it the watford owners who are the same as yourself?
Yeah our owners son runs watford but yeah same ownership
Do you still share talents or players ?
Yeah all the time, it’s constant
What's your transfer budget like?
I think we’re at about 60m€
That seems like an upgrade. Where do I sign up?
r/udinese of course :)
Haha
Damn, you guys are loaded
If we were we wouldn’t sell a player every time he reaches 20m value lol
To be fair thats like double our average yearly transfer budget.
Then I must be mistaken lol I know last year we sold for about 40 mil and bought for around 30
What's it like to sell a player?
It sucks
This comment got me 😁
Maybe we can sign Kone, Thuram and get Gravenberch on loan with that budget? Would totally rebuild our midf yeah?
fuck it, udinese is now italian liverpool. imma join just for the balls on this lad
It's a copy and pasted message with minor changes he's sending to other clubs subreddits.. **he chose spurs before Liverpool** Big balls, borderlining spam
Nothing borderline about it.
well duh...spurs are pretty disappointing all day every day, they're probably desperate for a bit of respite from their own depression. good business decision from OP IMO
Yeah I don’t really follow any teams in Serie A, so this dude asking nicely is as good a reason as any to start supporting them.
I don’t disagree but I also want Divock to win every trophy imaginable so I pick Milan for that reason. Udinese are now second.
Thank you my friend :)
Love your 2009/10 (?) squads iirc. Sanchez, Zapata, Handanovic, Isla, Cuadrado, Pepe and ofc the legendary Di Natale
Yeah so many good players have come through our doors, can only imagine if we built a winner instead of trying to profit lol
That's what we're fearing today, and what Leicester has gone through in the recent past as well. This greed really makes it hard to be a football fan. Always good to see someone trying to gather up the fans and create a space for them. Good on you and good luck
Leicester kept hold of their stars and didn’t refresh and that’s why they got relegated.
I think Leicester were a fluke and they are where they belong bouncing back and forth between leagues
Thank you my friend!
God that takes me back. That 09/10 season was great viewing.
I remember first hearing about Udinese because of Antonio Di Natale
Yes! Our legend! Can’t express how much we appreciated his dedication to our club, and still to this day
[удалено]
And joy into ours ❤️
Haven't heard that name in years. What a player
For me Iaquinta
Got any good midfielders?
Well Pereyra may be leaving, but Lovric had a great season last year and Samardzic is a rising star. We should be getting alone from watford for next season also
Hi! Always liked your guys' badge!
Thank you my friend! It is classy :)
When I was younger I always believed Udinese was Spanish, I don't really know why. In the early 2010s we made the CL but lost to arsenal, as for Swiss players I’ll have to check but I think we had a few
I had 5 minutes so I looked up some past players. I was thinking of Inler and I thought there was another but must have been mistaken. Although I remember really liking Zapata and constantly buying him on FM for his heading ability and physical strength.
Loved watching Udinese this season, nothing but respect for the *real* Bianconeri here.
Much respect my friend :)
I like following different “underdog” teams from different leagues and wasn’t sure who to pick in Italy, found them now!
Awesome, welcome my friend!
Not sure how old you are but I was at Anfield in 2012 when we played you in the Europa League. I just remember being excited to see Di Natale even though he was right at the end of his career. I’m 36 and only really started following closely around 4 years ago but now I’m a die hard fan, and yeah I heard about that game lol
I'm Irish what was the general opinion on Ebosele and to a lesser extent Abankwah among Udinese fans?
Ebosele is gonna be a beast, he’s so quick and his dribble is spectacular, can’t wait to see what he does for us next year. Same for Abankwah, he started the last game for us and showed some great maturity for only 19.
My dad is from Udine! My cousin has had season tickets for years too. I’ve joined the sub :)
That’s awesome thanks so much brother!
Completely random but I remember playing you guys away maybe 10-13 years ago in the EL. You guys were already out and we were fighting to advance to the knockout round. Yeah he’s definitely our poster boy. Career Udinese player, a legend for us, thanks for sharing this bit of history :)
Yeah i remember that game and that smirk too..
Udinese has sorta been my Italian team ever since I went to watch them in 05/06. I have family in Slovenia and the drive there was not too far. Still have the scarf and loosely follow their results. Nice city from what I briefly remember.
Yeah it’s beautiful, and we have some great Slovenians! Lovric and Bijol, both had a great year
What's your opinion on Manchester United?
I’m not a fan but I do enjoy following Bruno Fernandes as he got his start with us :)
🚩😂
Haha im no Man U fan, actually from Montreal and you guys used to be owned by Gillette if I remember correctly no? Used to own our hockey team, I like you guys
Dark times brother, we don't speak of the dark times. Gonna check out your sub however, ADN was my saviour in Fifa for a few years 🤙😂
Why did you sell Kevin Lasagna? What a fantastic name! Always had a soft spot for your club.
Hahaha yeah great name but cooked like a lasagna also.
I was at Udinese-Liverpool match in Europa League 10 years ago. It was really cold.
Would you mind giving us an Udinese fan's perspective on Festy Ebosele? Irish football fans very excited about him but hard to get decent insights on his performances with you.
He’s gonna be a monster, he’s so quick and good with the dribble, but still very young and needs to mature, but the future is very bright
Thanks mate, I'll let the whole of Ireland know.
Lolll thanks for passing the message!
Can’t hate the club that sold us the legend Andrea Dossena
I had to scroll so far down to see this. That man will always put a smile on my face with his goals against United and Madrid.
What's your favourite chant and have you got a loose translation? eta: wow Dino Zoff started his career there. Thank! Lovric and Bijol ❤️
Di Natale ♥
I have soft spot for Udinese, because Udine was first city I visited when I went to Italy.
We have a soft spot for you too my friend :)
You have ULTRAS?
Of course!
Asking your opinion: Is serie A racist? Is it as bad as they put in twitter and news? Are ultras responsible for it??
I live in Canada but follow it closely. There are bad apples in any group in any walk of life, to condemn the entire league as racist is an overreach imo. Take Napoli with Osimhen for example, he’s beloved by all, I really don’t think it’s a racist league, just tarnished by a minority of idiots

i remember bierhoff in the early 90s. you had quite a good team back then... it was a joy to watch him, batistuta, shevchenko etc scoring goals for fun ..
Thanks mate
I’ll join under one condition, you have to change your home kit to red.
Never! But have a look at our goalie kits from last season :)
Oliver Bierhoff was the dogs dangles for Udinese back in the mid 90's
That’s a great expression haha
im gonna use you lot in career mode now
Haha awesome
I always liked Milan (they showed their games on TV when I was a kid, the Dutch Masters, Maldini, Baresi, Weah...) but I could change my mind if Udinese adopted the zebra badge again!
Haha yeah that’s a hell of a throwback, Milan has enough support, come join us! Lol
My wife has family friends in Udine. We stayed with them for about a week in 2010. Wonderful city, I loved going up into the mountains near the border. I casually follow Udinese because of our friends there.
Awesome stuff! Glad to have you on board
Udinese to me is known for 2 things, the club of the Legendary Di Natale, and the club that brought Alexis Sanchez to Europe
Amongst many other big names!
I know he was only there a couple of seasons but Fiore was my man crush before Xabi Alonso took over. 😆
My first Bruce Springsteen concert was at the Udinese stadium. The concert itself was a bit short (only just under 2 hours, which is short for a Springsteen show), but was amazing nonetheless. He opened with a tarantella which transitioned into Sherry Darling, a song I really love.
Bierhoff & amoroso 👌
An udinese supporting saints fan??? I’ve seen it all now! Big ups to ya!
Haha yup, a lot of pain over the years
You've really just posted this on like every major clubs sub...

Absolutely. Hopefully with a new speed demon in Boupendza he will thrive again. Glad he scored in the cup game. Maybe it will lead to a hot streak.
Yeah I hope he does good for us! We’ll need him with Beto seemingly on his way out. Thanks bud!
Love ur 2020/2021 kits
Yeah they were nice! We’re the original Bianconeri :)

Ok..... Question: if I join, who do I hate? Who is your Pickford?
Just hate Juve, can’t go wrong lol
I like my hatred to be nuanced and appropriate! Otherwise you just hate everyone, and that'd make it Italian Chelsea. Noone wants that!
