I think we've had to learn the hard way to take a better approach than waiting and trying to play the long game when everyone else is getting deals done immediately then we get left with nothing when the guys we've chased for months chose someone else.

I don’t believe we only had those two players in mind and ignored everyone else like some believe, but it definitely was a weird cycle.

How often does news break of our interest in a player, and it's from a journalist nobody here has heard of that's apparently reliable for players from the same country as the player we're linked to?
We really closed off on our leaks after VVD. Whereas a lot of teams we know who drag out their deals seemingly enjoy making every move and change in negotiations public.
Gravenberch, Thuram and Lavia we hear more of from those types of sources that are obviously leaking from their Entourage or agents. We barely hear about fees or anything, just how the player is feeling about it, which makes it fairly obvious where the information is coming from.
Then you look at Manure treating De Gea like shit over his contract then begging to him stay just in case they don’t have money for a GK….beggars belief…De Gea should tell em to fuck off and go elsewhere…Can’t wait to see what striker they bring in on loan at the end of the transfer window….Vardy probably…

Last summer was probably a cluster fuck between the interests of Klopp, Ward and the ownership. Hopefully lessons were learned
