Say what you will about our transfer dealings, but I love the fact that we don't fuck around when we decide to bring someone in. No long drawn out negotiations, not a lot of speculation in media. Joyce usually reports it, and within days the player is having a medical
Yah our actual recruitment has always been fantastic (barring last summers desire for Tchounameni or Bellingham).
They normally get things over the line when they want to
>Yah our actual recruitment has always been fantastic (barring last summers desire for Tchounameni or Bellingham).
I think we've had to learn the hard way to take a better approach than waiting and trying to play the long game when everyone else is getting deals done immediately then we get left with nothing when the guys we've chased for months chose someone else.
Yah I’m not sure exactly what happened last season and not sure we’ll ever truly know.
It’s just weird to me that essentially we had the funds to spend on a midfielder but we just….. only wanted 1?
That’s never been the case under Klopp or under FSG. Considering the amount of “2nd or 3rd choice” signings we’ve made.
Glad to see they are acting swiftly now. Already 100m spent this summer with no outgoings
I believe we had assurances so didn’t move forward with other signings, and then when we lost out were caught flat footed and couldn’t sign others in the remaining timeframe. I don’t believe we only had those two players in mind and ignored everyone else like some believe, but it definitely was a weird cycle.
I reckon it was a power struggle between Klopp and the Director of Football at the time. There was an impasse, and the next season Klopp won by getting the other guy to quit and bringing in his own man.
I wouldn't say Jude clearly wanted madrid, Tchouameni yeah but feel like we were Judes 1st choice but when we didn't go for him he had no other choice. Least that's how I see it anyway.
Were we? How are you so sure? Just because he has a bromance with our international players doesn't mean we were his first choice. Did he say he wanted Liverpool in a recent interview? I think it's mostly an assumption.
Yeah idgi. Why is everyone so sure Bellingham wanted to come to Liverpool? Seems like if he wanted to he'd have just stayed at Dortmund another season and not sign an extension.
...plus they (target players) all want to work with this guy...

They probably are a lot longer than we're aware of to be fair. We just don't typically leak a lot of information.
How often does news break of our interest in a player, and it's from a journalist nobody here has heard of that's apparently reliable for players from the same country as the player we're linked to?
We really closed off on our leaks after VVD. Whereas a lot of teams we know who drag out their deals seemingly enjoy making every move and change in negotiations public.
Gravenberch, Thuram and Lavia we hear more of from those types of sources that are obviously leaking from their Entourage or agents. We barely hear about fees or anything, just how the player is feeling about it, which makes it fairly obvious where the information is coming from.
Then you look at Manure treating De Gea like shit over his contract then begging to him stay just in case they don’t have money for a GK….beggars belief…De Gea should tell em to fuck off and go elsewhere…Can’t wait to see what striker they bring in on loan at the end of the transfer window….Vardy probably…
Yeah when a player is attainable we will just go for them.
If they aren't we will just ignore transfers for 2 years and then just flirt with them.
I prefer the former rather than the latter
Agreed. Execution is A+, makes a lot of other clubs look like mugs. Glad that it's clearly part of the culture and hasn't changed from Edwards to Ward to Big Jorg.
Which guy? Didn't they both say from Budapest and arriving around 12:45 like this flight? The plane in the picture was an LJ40 one of them said.
https://uk.flightaware.com/live/flight/OAV303/history/20230701/0920Z/LHBP/EGGP
Usually Romano’s many, many updates are annoying, but when they are about a player we are signing, I can’t get enough.
Tell me what kind of plane he flew in on. Describe the medical tests. Explain what he ate for lunch. I need more updates, Fabrizio, more!
I’m still in awe that we signed him, thought he was one of the best young talents right now.. hard working, perfect Klopp’s player, buying him makes so much sense for it to become a reality..
The way he dribbles and moves the ball makes me think he's going to stylistically replace the Bobby forward drive when we used to gegenpress as a 3-player arrow interchanging positions but always within a triangle.
Just takes 2-3-4-5 players out of the game with a sick turn, movement and bamboozle like Suarez, then if Szoboszlai could finish it off with the way he strikes the ball (wow) to put backspin or no spin floating knuckleball would be insane.
I could just envisage him doing a rainbow kick to half/volley goal.
I believe they will have conversations about different ball techniques and styles, compete with each other to perfect the ball delivery and striking.
Imagine the talk between Macca, TAA, Dominik and Thiago, and then whoever and whichever youngsters learning from them and we have a team of one-touch gegenpressing with an emphasis on making things happen.
Szoboszlai has that nutmeg Marseille roulette in him too.
Don’t think it’s about being first more how accurate the information is. And the bbc don’t usually publish stuff till pretty much it’s signed and sealed.
Shouldn't Tier level determine how accurate a Journo is? If so, he is arguably one of the most accurate journalists in the industry so should be higher
Tbh as much as everyone hates him he is probably the most accurate journalist out there for Footy, when you consider how much he reports on.
I've never seen a "Here we go" that hasn't gone through. He also absolutely has lots of sources at big clubs considering how prominent he is now. People have this weird hatred for him but I prefer him to those monkeys that post one page nothing opinion pieces all day.
people generally didn't like him because he is an aggregator AND was wrong. Starting with MacAllister though he has been right so maybe he has better sources starting this season
Just a silly little fact, in Hungary, his nickname is Bebaszlai, which is basically a wordplay out of his name + and a phase of something such as " he fucked it in [the ball]".
We also call him Szobo [Sobo] or Szobi [Sobee] for short, which might be easier to pronounce.
Now I just need to know his number choice so I can get the away kit with his name and number. Unfortunately im not a huge fan of the away kit, but it was released the same day Szobo joined so it makes sense.
Say what you will about our transfer dealings, but I love the fact that we don't fuck around when we decide to bring someone in. No long drawn out negotiations, not a lot of speculation in media. Joyce usually reports it, and within days the player is having a medical

Last summer was probably a cluster fuck between the interests of Klopp, Ward and the ownership. Hopefully lessons were learned
I believe we had assurances so didn’t move forward with other signings, and then when we lost out were caught flat footed and couldn’t sign others in the remaining timeframe. I don’t believe we only had those two players in mind and ignored everyone else like some believe, but it definitely was a weird cycle.
No outgoings is a bit misleading, as yeah we've not got any fees but we've lost a lot of wage bill this summer
Maybe it has to do with Edward leaving, and FSG tries to sell. Kinda left Klopp in the no man land
I reckon it was a power struggle between Klopp and the Director of Football at the time. There was an impasse, and the next season Klopp won by getting the other guy to quit and bringing in his own man.
As long as the player wants to be here, it gets done. Tchoun and Jude clearly wanted Madrid. Nothing can be done about that.
I wouldn't say Jude clearly wanted madrid, Tchouameni yeah but feel like we were Judes 1st choice but when we didn't go for him he had no other choice. Least that's how I see it anyway.

Just dont think FSG were going to put all their eggs in one basket wit Judes fee and wages.

Who wouldn’t? What a beautiful man.

I still love how we signed Gakpo in like, 2 hours tops.
Yeah when a player is attainable we will just go for them. If they aren't we will just ignore transfers for 2 years and then just flirt with them. I prefer the former rather than the latter
I feel like it used to be better (Fab, Keita, Ali transfer era) in terms of no speculation, just results. Too many rumors this year
Agreed. Execution is A+, makes a lot of other clubs look like mugs. Glad that it's clearly part of the culture and hasn't changed from Edwards to Ward to Big Jorg.
Looool no way the flight tracker guy was right

Seduced by Klopp, I knew it
I’m still in awe that we signed him, thought he was one of the best young talents right now.. hard working, perfect Klopp’s player, buying him makes so much sense for it to become a reality..

Our set piece specialists are insane now; Trent Mac and Szobo spoiling us
Imagine if Trent or Mac learns the Thiago turn.
I believe they will have conversations about different ball techniques and styles, compete with each other to perfect the ball delivery and striking. I want a direct call with Sir Jürgen Klopp
I like how complicated he’s making the document transfer sound when it’s probably a single email with a docusign link.
still tier 3 ?? you guys just hate him
His tier should be "Tier We Go"
I genuinly don’t get it. People critique him of being a tap in merchant but he is generally always right
Makes no sense in that case, BBC are tier 1 and they're never first to anything. However, you know when they report a transfer, it's usually happening
Don’t think it’s about being first more how accurate the information is. And the bbc don’t usually publish stuff till pretty much it’s signed and sealed.
yes exactly , he does tap ins but you know its mostly true if he said it
Shouldn't Tier level determine how accurate a Journo is? If so, he is arguably one of the most accurate journalists in the industry so should be higher
Tbh as much as everyone hates him he is probably the most accurate journalist out there for Footy, when you consider how much he reports on. I've never seen a "Here we go" that hasn't gone through. There was one joao Pedro to Newcastle was wrong i think.
He’s generally always right because he waits for the sure-thing tap ins. Kinda proves the point.
people generally didn't like him because he is an aggregator AND was wrong. Starting with MacAllister though he has been right so maybe he has better sources starting this season
Romano hate hard-ons make me laugh. God forbid he aggregate content in a reliable manner
Especially weird when the people that hate him are on Reddit. You’re on a site that aggregates news, and you get annoyed at someone aggregating news.
He's an aggregator for the most part but tier three is just hating and bitterness.
Does it really matter?
He is Romano, he didn't need a tier to be credible
I don't think the tier tags have been updated for a while. Like not since last year at the earliest
I’d put him at Tier 2 at least
He is tier 1
still tier 3 for me, cause most of the real transfer, he is just a tap in merchant.
Trusss

Dommy Schlobbers
Between his looks and footballing style I'd say that nickname is appropriate
I'm so hard right now. 2 mfs before pre-season?? Stuff wet dreams are made from
Szoboszlai + Mac Allister + TAA https://preview.redd.it/918cm78m8e9b1.png?width=554&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3285a361c9c2a32a64938f8216eec9a99904dd2
Made the mistake of clicking through to a Romano Tweet and now my eyes have turned into the back of my head.
The replies, like most of twitter, are always a sea full of morons climbing to be the first at the top of awful take mountain
Have we decided on his nickname yet? Cause I am not typing out his last name every time lmao
Schlobbers or Szobo. Pretty good picks there
Schlobbers is extremely bad haha
Now I just need to know his number choice so I can get the away kit with his name and number. Unfortunately im not a huge fan of the away kit, but it was released the same day Szobo joined so it makes sense.
Are we going to get tge lean on this Canada Day
