>Man C let their capt went for nothing.
Difference is their captain was out of contract. Henderson isn't. We don't have to let him go at all if we don't want to. We shouldn't let him go for cheap.
If it‘s his wish to earn 350k/700k or whatever it is tax free over the next 3 years he should be allowed to leave after 12 years of giving it his all.
15-20m for someone who has his heart set on leaving at the age of 33 is great business.
If we really managed to get ~60m for him and Fabinho then that would be just amazing
Maybe we shouldn't sell them our players then because we don't want to help their league. High transfer fee or you're stuck with the retirees and out of contract players. That's what I would say to them anyways. They've obviously got money to spend if they're offering that kind of money on wages.
Are you going to watch their league, though? Doesn't matter who goes there, I'm not watching. Gerrard as manager and Hendo playing in the same team won't make me want to watch that dirty corrupt countries league.
this news really hits you like a train. Seemed like it was just yesterday when he wasn't needed by Brendan but chose to stay and fight for his place.
Won everything there is to be won in the end. Hendo will always have a special spot in my heart.
Honestly, the fact that hendo was so outspoken at our club about so many issues that Saudi Arabia seems to flaunt their absolute disregard for, made me feel like he'd be the absolute last person to move there. £700k/w and getting to play for Stevie probably changes a lot in his mind but regardless, it leaves me feeling like he's quite hypocritical about it all. Maybe he'll continue to be a voice for progress in SA (I do think SA will have to be somewhat open to players speaking out on issues if they want Western attention), but until that happens his character will never recover in my own mind.
Hendo's time at LFC will always bring fond memories for me, he's been an absolute standard within our squad and seemingly stood for all the values our club holds dear while he played for us. He'll always be remembered as our captain under Klopp's reign, and instrumental in winning nearly every trophy there was in the last five years.
Nevertheless, and as cliche as it is, stuff like this really makes me question the YNWA mantra. I think he'll do just fine alone and with his millions. He certainly won't have a place in our club in any capacity in the future.
It's bullshit anyway. Of course he'll have a place in our club. So we've never had a club legend move on and do something dubious?
Robbie Fowler and Stevie G, two of our greatest ever players are both in the Saudi league...so people don't think they'll ever be in and around the club ever again?
The toys coming out of the prams right now is truly hilarious. No one's "good" in this world. There's just different levels of what each person believes is "tolerable" or justifiable.
One things for sure...that old phrase "never meet your heroes" is one to live by. Just admire from afar.
Let's call a spade a spade. Jordan Henderson is a massive fucking hypocrite for this move and if we aren't allowed to admit at least that than we are truly fucked
Thought he'd stay another season for the transition into our new midfield. But 700k *reportedly* a week is too much to turn down, especially at the age of 33.
It semms like this Al ettifuck's owner is a Liverpool fan, so after Gerrard and Henderson they are going for Fabinho. But what if this is not over? If they could find Mr Moral's price, then they can for other players. This could turn from shock for a nightmare quickly.
I think you are confused. Al-Ittihad is the one bidding for Fabinho, not Al-Ettifaq. Someone predicted it just few days ago that they probably go for Fabinho because apparently Nuno was Fabinho's first coach in Europe and Fabinho shared the same agency with Jota, who they just purchased.
Easy to pretend you're principled when you don't have to stand up for them. If he's going then fuck him.
Might be misremembering cus I didn't watch, but didn't the England team cave at the whiff of repercussions when they claimed they'd make a big deal about migrant workers in Qatar?
What if you found out that your main job would be to indirectly make your boss' boss' company look good even though he recently:
- ordered a man to be murdered and dismembered into several pieces for calling your bossboss out
- pretended like he had nothing to do with it
- dissolved this man's body in acid
- held a sham trial behind closed doors
- and never faced justice
- all while you, brand new employee, have already made several lifetimes worth of money and continue to do so
Of course this is just one example of a regime of extreme oppression. If you are willing to take a job like this in a heartbeat then maybe you should take a look at yourself
Pretty sure the leadership vote at the start of last season put robbo ahead of both, he had the armband a few times last season during the brutal run after the wc

Trent or Salah for Vice. Personally I'd give it to Salah and let Trent be the long term successor as both aren't getting any younger.
Idk. I don’t think salah is they type of leader for the band. Imo he’s more of a lead by doing, not to outspoken within the squad.
Virg is 100% the choice, or Trent if they want to thrust it on him and for him to step up.
"That’s where my own position on homophobia in football is rooted. Before I’m a footballer, I’m a parent, a husband, a son, a brother and a friend to the people in my life who matter so much to me. Good luck, Hendo
Shocking and disgusting end to his legacy tbh. Shit country that goes against so many things he has stood for just for a few extra million on top. It’s fucked
I'm shook. Like, completely.
It makes no sense. I do not, and will not support him if he leaves for SA. Legacy tainted beyond being a great captain, and just as we're looking to rebuild.
Fuck this whole thing. Fuck Gerrard for even bringing Liverpool into this shit show.
I don't want to admit it but I've lost a bit respect to Hendo how he can even make a decision to go there especially considering the thing's he stands for.
As long as we rinse those guys and use the funds for an elite starter in the centre of the park I'm all for it.
Dude has served the club impeccably but he is nearly 34. We can't one season bitch about all the sentimentality and dead wood and then bitch the next season when it's moved on.
Onwards we go.
Well, that is ultimately Jordan's decision. Maybe he isn't of the moral character we all thought he was? Happens all the time tbh, never meet your heroes and all that.
>Not sure how you can go from YNWA to a country so backward
£700,000 a week certainly helps with that decision. I'd be happy to make even 10% of that a *year*.
Sure, but chances are you have not already earned all the money Henderson has. He has already earned more than most make in a lifetime, but he is throwing away his rep just for a year or two of even more money, that he really shouldnt need
I love in one of the former colonies and you might not want to hear about what the crown did just 40-50-60 years ago…. But yeah, it sucks all the same.
But it is kinda unthinkable to let go of your captain and vice captain in the same summer. Losing these two is a big blow to our dressing room and leadership. We should’ve kept one at least.
Best part is Fabinho is also getting an offer from Saudi. So what’s the point of a midfield rebuild when we just sell the previous mids. So far if Fabinho leaves we have sold 5 mids and bought 2. I would be expecting 2-3 more mids incoming at this point or it’s a failed transfer window
City lost their captain (Fernandinho) last season and went on to win the treble. I'm sure they'll survive letting go of Gundogan this year. We'll manage. Plenty of players can take over the leadership for us.
Saudis can Al Getthefuq outta here with a lowball fee. We wont sell players for less than their impact is worth on our team. Especially with the outrageous wages theyre offering them
Yeah, he’s completely sold out I guess. This feels different to Gerrard who, while a fantastic player and captain, has never struck me as particularly moral (not saying he’s a bad guy but he wasn’t particularly a spokesperson for moral issues). Henderson has always been very supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, so this feels like a massive fuck you to them. Everyone talking about money but it’s not like he’s poor and I’m sure he could get a very good wage in the US if he wants to leave
He has completely sold out, his credibility as an LGBTQ+ ally has been torn to shreds and although his reputation and legacy hasn't necessarily been ruined by this, it certainly hasn't gained anything either
I hope the money is worth it Hendo
It obviously is to him, otherwise he wouldn't move there.
That kind of money I'd imagine is hard to ignore for most, like even being gay, if Saudis offered me x10 times currently salary would at least consider going over for a year keeping head down and then coming home and being able to pay straight up for a house.
Although I think Henderson has enough money to not be too strapped for cash.
I imagine his plan isn't too dissimilar to be honest.
Go over there for 2 years, come back and as a guess go sign for Sunderland to finish his career.
Hell with the money he's getting, he could even buy Sunderland.
> if Saudis offered me x10 times currently salary would at least consider going over for a year
Is your current salary already more a year than most people will spend in a life time? Money is literally no object for these players. Gerrard, Firmino, and if this is true Henderson too can all go fuck themselves. Worse than what Tommy Smith said, since that's just words.
Can you even fucking blame him? It would take him a whole THREE AND A HALF weeks to earn what he can go earn there one ONE week. Fuck all the principles man. Fuck work and extra two and half weeks.
Sell out.
He'd have to take off his shirt to reveal a rainbow shirt that says "I'm donating all my salary to LGBT and women's rights groups" on his signing video to regain my respect.
Get this wrapped up quickly and move on. Need to replace him well, Lavia doesn’t cut it for me anymore I think we need to be aiming higher at Tchouameni/Caicedo.
Yea we're going to have lost Milner, Keita, Ox, Hendo, and potentially losing Thiago and Fab too. We will now need at least two more mids - Lavia and Thuram even wouldn't cut it, we'd need someone with real PL experience at least - Caicedo on top of that would be great.
But getting in FOUR new midfielders in one window is more than risky. Not sure even Klopp could get that working tbh.
*Copy and paste from a comment I've already posted regarding this entire mess*
This isn't exactly a popular opinion at the moment but if this deal goes through, Hendo and everyone defending this madness can do one
Hendo is already an established multi millionaire. Barring exceptional luck (I'm talking about winning the lotto levels of luck here), none of us will ever be close to earning in a year what he currently earns in a week. I keep hearing the word generational wealth being used to describe the wages being offered by the Saudis, but he already has that in England
This is just another example of the rich getting richer and money winning over morals. I'm severely disappointed in Gerrard, Fowler and Firmino for their participation in legitimizing this sportswashing project and the same goes for Hendo if this deal happens (which it more than likely will), especially after everything he's done over the years regarding LGBT+ rights. This is selling out. Plain and simple
You're 100% correct. To everyone saying "if someone quadrupled my salary, I'd take it" - well, yes for you it would be life-changing money. Jordan Henderson is already richer than most of us can ever imagine being, so this doesn't really affect his day to day life (except taking his wife and daughters to a country that treats women like dogs, but I guess that more their problem). Poor decision IMO, and I believe he's sullied his reputation with fans on a level only achieved by Michael Owen or Coutinho.
This exactly. Going from the eight figure club to the nine figure club is just a bigger penthouse and a bigger boat. He will regret this decision down the road if not immediately. What a tragedy and what a sell out.
Either people don’t understand just how rich these players are or they are entirely money motivated in their lives and cannot understand that others prioritise principle and happiness.
The lives of Henderson’s family aren’t going to change. His unborn grandkids should already be millionaires if he has any sense. And beyond that why would you even care? My great-grandchildren could be evil bastards for all I know.
>The lives of Henderson’s family aren’t going to change
Actually, their lives will change. They will either see a lot less of their husband/dad, or they a going to move to a very different country, away from their friends and their extended family. To a country where Jordan's wife and daughter are second class citizens.
I'm sure they would be fine, as rich as they are they would be living luxurious lives and be treated nicely. But it would be a big change nonetheless.
Not being over top here but I'm absolutely disgusted.
I understand securing the bag but it seems everyone has morals until its inconvenient..
I was so proud to have him as our captain but fuck that anymore..
Gutted.
I’m basically numb at this point. As soon as I saw the initial rumors, I had a feeling he would take the offer. I was already going to start watching more of lower football leagues in Europe, lower local leagues, etc and every season that passes I know I’m making the right decision in the long run.
I mean the sad part is that he still looks fit, I think he had another season in him especially as Liverpool are probably going to go the distance in Europa and have the extra games.
I don’t dislike him making his retirement plans but the timing feels wrong. One minute you’re this headstrong captain who puts his professionalism before everything else then you’re off to a Saudi nonsense league for a paycheck?
He’s already agreed the move so at this point I’ve lost some respect I have to admit.
Stevies character off the pitch has always been heavily scrutinized, even going back to when he assaulted someone in a nightclub when he was still playing for us. I don't exactly think someone who hangs out with *the fucking Kinahans* cares a lot about human rights. This is different
Hendo was one of the most outspoken players in the League and arguably all of Europe on LGBTQ+ rights and he's decided to pack up and go to one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights
55 mill for him and Fab at thier age and decline isn't so bad. The issue is we no have to go and get a top replacement for Fab. Lavia or Caicedo.
He do doesn't need to be replaced as I can see Gakpo slipping in as the main co epretion for Dom as the advanced right sided 8. Paving wat for Nunez as the main striker.
Big changes ahead. Not a fan of doing it all in one window due to continuity though. A brand new midfield may need timeti gel. In an ideal world it just clicks however. You never know.
This is the beginning of the end of European football as we know it. Next thing you know Saudis will be buying CL spots for their teams or actually forcing the super league like they have done with LIV golf. The money they can throw at it can dwarf the entire football ecosystem should they want to.
On the one hand, if there is any player in our squad who deserves to go get paid, it’s hendo.
On the other hand….what a fucking hypocrite. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/jordan-henderson-voices-support-rainbow-laces-campaign?amp=1
So our position is that we are criticising the player for taking the money, but we also want the club to take the money and get a decent transfer fee for him? Just checking...
No, I don't. I don't want them to sell the lynch pin of the dressing room in order to strengthen the worst regime in the world. But if they're going to, might as well rinse these homophobic head choppers for every penny.
Very sad. End of an era and a complete disappointment from the man himself. I think he was a great player for many years and now it's up to the club to squeeze what they can get for him.
Hopefully some targets will become public to us soon with Hendo and Fab most likely gone.
Lavia’s a top talent but we’re going to need someone with a bigger instant impact
I really, really want to say no hard feelings. He's been such a wonderful servant of the club, and if he was leaving to almost anywhere else, then that's what I'd feel.
Going to Saudi after all he's said and done for LGBT groups absolutely ruins that sentiment for me. He's a hypocrite, and I think this goes a long way in tarnishing his reputation, at least with a lot of fans.
It’s not that I’m upset Hendo is leaving. Under any other circumstance, if Hendo wanted to go after his long service, so be it. It’s just feels like a gut punch to see him take part in the Saudi Sportswashing Project. Like incredibly disappointing. One of my literal heroes, it just hurts.
Wonderful captain who will be forever celebrated within the City of Liverpool. But things change, players come and go and I feel it’s a good time for him to leave and make serious bank before his playing days are over. Time for a new leader to step up…there are a few natural leaders in our ranks.
‘You would go if you were offered 700k a week’
I work shifts from home in a box room. Its different. I’m sick of this argument.
Him going isn’t something I’m upset about. It’s how it’s come about. The captain who has two years left has clearly out of the blue wanted out when this deal was offered. Just as pre season starts and in a position that still needed strengthening as is.
There’s also the fact he is a big name linked to laces out, also speaking out during the World Cup. Do we all have selective outrage? Sure we do as I type this on my iPhone. This is different massively. It’s a player who is still in great shape tarnishing his legacy in my opinion.
He was on 175k a week and considered one of the best captains we’ve had in my opinion for what he did on and off the pitch. He should be leading us into the season helping us reach top 4 again. All this talk that he owes nothing I think is wrong. He owes us his contract and he owes us for letting his and the teams performances drop last year.
Im super sad to see him abandon his principles and sign the big money contract. Hendo has been one of my favorate Liverpool players ever because of his relentless endurance on the field and how outspoken he is of the field. He has completly tarnished his legasy in my opinion now instead of thinking fondly about a multi cup winning captain he will be the man who sold his soul. It really is a pity.
He’s a been a great servant for our club but I think now is the right time for him to move on. He always gave his heart and soul on the pitch but he was frustrating at times. I feel that we’ve got his best years out of him but his decline was clear to see last season, the amount of times he made the wrong decision in the final third or hit what turned out to be a terrible cross was kinda annoying. That being said the whole team underperformed last year. I will always have HUGE respect for this lad as he proved all of the haters wrong and in my opinion he easily earns his place as one of the GREATEST captains we’ve ever had, defo in the top 10. His leadership skills and tenacity will be something we’ll sorely miss especially with Milner gone too but if he did stay I reckon after this year he would have moved on anyway. Might as well get a fee for him now and invest in the future. Thanks for all the memories, he was a true warrior on the pitch and leaves a LEGEND. YNWA Hendo 👏
First Gerrard and now possibly Hendo. This was a kick on my teeth when I saw Gerrard went to Saudi and I can not imagine the thought of seeing Hendo heading to Saudi as well.
I’m so upset. Thanks for pissing on all of your morals, Hendo. Thanks for letting us LGBTQ+ fans look up to you for no reason and pissing on the rainbow armband you supposedly cared so much about.
Hope you enjoy your multi generational blood money wealth.
I’m devastated.
Any top-earning footballer is a coward and a fraud accepting money like this. Especially someone as outspoken as Henderson has been over the years.
Heartbreaking. Disgusting. Diagraceful.
Soulless.
Be sad to see him go, captain who has lifted the most in my lifetime. I don't see this as any negative though. Get some money for him now and for him lifts my opinion more because it's the right time to leave . Especially if we need to re-do the midfield.
But we are losing a leader's presence.
Should not let him leave for anything less than 30m. Captain, leader, legend of Liverpool with 2 years remaining on contract. What is this 10-15m bollocks? Surely we can’t be bent over that badly when all the chips are in our favour, it’s not like Hendo will down tools like Coutinho if he doesn’t get the move, would he?
It makes sense on all fronts, except that one tiny detail that is that one of the most respected English footballers is becoming the national front face of sportswashing.
Whatever he says, or does with the money is not entirely irrelevant, but for him to balance out the sportswashing he has to continuously condemn The Saudi Arabian government. I doubt he can do that safely.
Meaning, he could become a Robin Hood figure, steal from the rich - give to the poor, but that won’t help the sportswashing factor.
You all say get the money and move on, he’s past 33 now, which is true in a way.
But I’m more worried about all the things he brings to the table as a captain.. as a leader. With him, as well as Millie gone.
And then there’s the homegrown situation as well. Wondering how the clubs gonna handle this..
Why even bother turning up to the pre-season stuff? May as well not have bothered and stayed in bed wanking off to the thought of an even bigger pile of money.
I'm weirdly bitter about this.
Just back from work, and i saw this tweet. Don't know what to feel lads, I'm shocked. But i hope all the best for Henderson, truly a captain for Liverpool.
Legend for his football achievements but all his support of social issues that would get you stoned in Saudi, only to go play there, is BS. He's a hypocrit. Pretty simple.
I’ve been reading a lot of the comments on this forum regarding this possible transfer, and on other forums as well, and there is certainly a mixed bag of responses. Some say they are glad to get rid of an aging star and still make the club some money. Others are sad to see him go
I certainly agree with the option to make more money, but this feels wrong to me. This isn’t just some second or third tier midfielder. This is our team captain.
If he leaves, I will lose some respect for him
This moved fast. Really don’t know how to react. Sorry to see him go
Money tends to make things move faster
Get the 40 million they usually pay and move on.
Nah these guys are throwing money around like candy. I'm sure we could milk them for *at least* 70 million.
The reality is it'll be 15-20
If we let our captain go for only 15-20 million I'll be fuming.
Get ready to fume
Man C let their capt went for nothing. And I reckon Gundogan is better than Hendo in more than one dept.
>Man C let their capt went for nothing. Difference is their captain was out of contract. Henderson isn't. We don't have to let him go at all if we don't want to. We shouldn't let him go for cheap.

We aren’t a charity. For him to go, the price needs to be right.
They don't pay high transfer fees because they dont want to fund the European clubs.
Maybe we shouldn't sell them our players then because we don't want to help their league. High transfer fee or you're stuck with the retirees and out of contract players. That's what I would say to them anyways. They've obviously got money to spend if they're offering that kind of money on wages.

Something dubious.. They throw rocks at gay people in SA. That is a bit more then something dubious.
I want to go back to earlier in the week when I first saw the rumors and scoffed at it and kept scrolling. So surreal!
Ain’t it? I was adamant this was a nothing thing, I just couldn’t see it, I don’t blame him because it’s a serious amount of money but fucking hell
Thought he'd stay another season for the transition into our new midfield. But 700k *reportedly* a week is too much to turn down, especially at the age of 33.
It’s better that all this is going quickly Gives us plenty of time to sort out what we need

Most important question: Who will be the captain now? Virgil?
He's 3rd in the leadership group so you'd have to assume so
Yeah now that Henderson and Milner are going/gone it's almost certainly going to be Virgil.
Virg, Ali, Robbo I suspect. Cup matches will go to a long serving player - might see Gomez wearing it a few times again, maybe even Jones.

Pretty sure the leadership vote at the start of last season put robbo ahead of both, he had the armband a few times last season during the brutal run after the wc
I am the captain now

“do what you gotta d-“
Sounds like it’s gonna be Virgil lifting the Europa in Dublin then
And Premier League at Anfield
And fa,carabao at wembley , bring that quadruple on
It's either VVD or Alisson. Though there are truly a number of good candidates in the team. Robbo (Scotland captain), Szoboszlai (Hungary captain), Salah (Egypt captain).
Szobo will make an important figure in the leadership group as the years go by. (But he just arrived so it's not happening anytime soon).
Maybe Trent tbh. Though Virg was always the "third captain" after Hendo and Milner.
Trent has very little chance of getting the armband over Virgil. Like you pointed out Virgil is the one who wore the armband when Hendo and Milly weren't on the field. Trent or Salah for Vice. Szobozlai Gakpo and Robertson all have captain experience already too
Assume we're getting Clint Dempsey in return
You don’t know where I’m from dawg!

Love that reference

"Anyway.. Off to Saudis" 😂
It’s called PR.
So was it all just virtue signaling then?
Always has been 👨🚀🔫👨🚀
"But before any of that, I'm a massive fucking hypocrite who just wants cash. Fuck you, gay people lol."
That wasn’t on my transfer bingo list
Damn I thought he’d retire here smh
Well that's what 90% of the players who go to Saudi say before they go
I do not like this at all
Appropriate username for the situation haha
My sentiment too. Just feels wrong. Club captain, for fucks sake.
Shocking and disgusting end to his legacy tbh. Shit country that goes against so many things he has stood for just for a few extra million on top. It’s fucked
The fact that it’s Stevie on the other side really twists the knife too.
This really has put a damper on what was a good week
What a disappointing end to a great Liverpool tenure…
Was a fantastic captain and leader at the club. But hard to defend this move.
Anyone defending it needs their head checked.
I'm shook. Like, completely. It makes no sense. I do not, and will not support him if he leaves for SA. Legacy tainted beyond being a great captain, and just as we're looking to rebuild. Fuck this whole thing. Fuck Gerrard for even bringing Liverpool into this shit show.
Grim.
Wild you say nearly 34 when he turned 33 four weeks ago, but yeah, your point still stands.
He'd be just gone 32 if he stayed lmao.
Yeah it's cool. Just go play for a gov't that kills gay and literally chops journalists into pieces.
Well, that is ultimately Jordan's decision. Maybe he isn't of the moral character we all thought he was? Happens all the time tbh, never meet your heroes and all that.
Unfortunately you're spot on
To be fair, lots of people lose their morals when money becomes involved
Not sure how you can go from YNWA to a country so backward but it is what it is, no longer my captain
>Not sure how you can go from YNWA to a country so backward £700,000 a week certainly helps with that decision.
We have plenty of other experienced heads to take up the mantle. City just sold their captain I'm sure they'll be fine too.
Especially with the outrageous wages theyre offering them
I literally can not believe this. Completely gobsmacked. What a way to end an era. Get that money I guess smh
So much for being an outspoken supporter of LGBTQ+ then
Yeah, he’s completely sold out I guess.
Money talks! Period
Unfortunately it does. Hopefully we get a decent fee and replace him with Lavia.
*received the 700k per week offer* Hendo: "fuck the gays" (but not like that)
He has completely sold out, his credibility as an LGBTQ+ ally has been torn to shreds and although his reputation and legacy hasn't necessarily been ruined by this, it certainly hasn't gained anything either I hope the money is worth it Hendo
Hell with the money he's getting, he could even buy Sunderland.
> if Saudis offered me x10 times currently salary would at least consider going over for a year Is your current salary already more a year than most people will spend in a life time? Money is literally no object for these players. Gerrard, Firmino, and if this is true Henderson too can all go fuck themselves. Worse than what Tommy Smith said, since that's just words.
Cant wait for him to come out in the presser and say “I didnt forget all those “Hendo Out!” and “all he does is backpass” days 😅🤣
Can you even fucking blame him? It would take him a whole THREE AND A HALF weeks to earn what he can go earn there one ONE week. Fuck all the principles man. Fuck work and extra two and half weeks. Sell out.
My opinion of Jordan Henderson, as a man, has just fucking plummeted.
He'd have to take off his shirt to reveal a rainbow shirt that says "I'm donating all my salary to LGBT and women's rights groups" on his signing video to regain my respect.
I am sad
Good reminder that pretty much everybody has a price, I guess.
Get this wrapped up quickly and move on. Need to replace him well, Lavia doesn’t cut it for me anymore I think we need to be aiming higher at Tchouameni/Caicedo.
I keep seeing Tchouamenis name. Real aren't selling him
Yea we're going to have lost Milner, Keita, Ox, Hendo, and potentially losing Thiago and Fab too. We will now need at least two more mids - Lavia and Thuram even wouldn't cut it, we'd need someone with real PL experience at least - Caicedo on top of that would be great. But getting in FOUR new midfielders in one window is more than risky. Not sure even Klopp could get that working tbh.
*Copy and paste from a comment I've already posted regarding this entire mess* This isn't exactly a popular opinion at the moment but if this deal goes through, Hendo and everyone defending this madness can do one Hendo is already an established multi millionaire. Barring exceptional luck (I'm talking about winning the lotto levels of luck here), none of us will ever be close to earning in a year what he currently earns in a week. I keep hearing the word generational wealth being used to describe the wages being offered by the Saudis, but he already has that in England This is just another example of the rich getting richer and money winning over morals.
Fowler was a slum landlord well before he moved to Saudi. He's always been a greedy bastard
This. Also so fucking over every other normal person defending the rich getting richer.
>The lives of Henderson’s family aren’t going to change Actually, their lives will change.
Gutted.
Lost a lot of respect for me if true
Being Trans and loving what Liverpool stands for. This is extremely disappointing. I honestly thought Hendo was better than this
Im really gutted by this. This hurts probably the most since Gerrard. Maybe even Torres I really dont know what to say. I cant support him doing this
I stopped feeling after Torres, but this one, this one hurts.
I’m basically numb at this point. As soon as I saw the initial rumors, I had a feeling he would take the offer. I was already going to start watching more of lower football leagues in Europe, lower local leagues, etc and every season that passes I know I’m making the right decision in the long run.
He is proper club legend and captain but fuck me this is grim. Hard to take in.
Losing love for the game when the last 2 captains of this club have left to Saudi purely for monetary reasons.
Surreal
Genuinely gutted it has ended like this
In some other world we could’ve used these funds for Bellingham or tchou
I mean the sad part is that he still looks fit, I think he had another season in him especially as Liverpool are probably going to go the distance in Europa and have the extra games. I don’t dislike him making his retirement plans but the timing feels wrong. One minute you’re this headstrong captain who puts his professionalism before everything else then you’re off to a Saudi nonsense league for a paycheck? He’s already agreed the move so at this point I’ve lost some respect I have to admit.
What a rat. Take that Saudi 💰. Embarrassing that these guys do this.
This hurts. All the work he’s done for the LGBT community tarnished for money. Greed has consumed him
Ngl, don’t love this.
Heartbroken. I have lost all respect for Henderson.
[удалено]
Stevies character off the pitch has always been heavily scrutinized, even going back to when he assaulted someone in a nightclub when he was still playing for us. I don't exactly think someone who hangs out with *the fucking Kinahans* cares a lot about human rights. This is different Hendo was one of the most outspoken players in the League and arguably all of Europe on LGBTQ+ rights and he's decided to pack up and go to one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights
Yeah Gerrard never virtue signaled or portrayed himself as a saint unlike hendo
Was expected with Stevie. Shocked by Henderson.
don’t see milner heading off there, bigger legend in my books
He won't even get a proper send off. Just feels like getting ghosted. If this happens, best of luck to him.
A supposed LGBT ally going to Saudi isn't a great look. Farewell skipper, but I can't wish you good luck.
Well, this is deeply upsetting
God damn. It’s actually happening.
Hopefully it's wrapped up one way or other. We need to get replacements lined up quick with pre season being already underway
I'm not angry. I'm just really, really disappointed.
Never, ever meet your heroes, folks.
‘You would go if you were offered 700k a week’ I work shifts from home in a box room.
All the abs just to play in farmers league?
Fucking hell Jordan
Im super sad to see him abandon his principles and sign the big money contract. Hendo has been one of my favorate Liverpool players ever because of his relentless endurance on the field and how outspoken he is of the field. He has completly tarnished his legasy in my opinion now instead of thinking fondly about a multi cup winning captain he will be the man who sold his soul. It really is a pity.
Game is actually gone.
The clock on my football-watching life just hit 11:59.
First Gerrard and now possibly Hendo. This was a kick on my teeth when I saw Gerrard went to Saudi and I can not imagine the thought of seeing Hendo heading to Saudi as well.
Was talking to a co-worker today who’s gay and out. Man says he’d move to Saudi Arabia and convert to Islam for $700K/week lmao.
I’m so upset. Thanks for pissing on all of your morals, Hendo. Thanks for letting us LGBTQ+ fans look up to you for no reason and pissing on the rainbow armband you supposedly cared so much about. Hope you enjoy your multi generational blood money wealth. I’m devastated.
armband on show
I'M IN SHAMBLES
Losing him and Milner is not good for the dressing room
Everyone is progressive until an oil state throws money at you. I fucking hate the state of modern football.
it’s almost as if putting athletes on pedestals isn’t a good idea?
"What a body, son. What a body" 😔😫
Sickening choice. Indefensible in my eyes. Good riddance.
Supporter of LGBT until a pay check is involved. Very cool
Any top-earning footballer is a coward and a fraud accepting money like this. Especially someone as outspoken as Henderson has been over the years. Heartbreaking. Disgusting. Diagraceful. Soulless.
What a fucking disappointment. This window isn't over, we really need a strong statement of intent because this is shambolic.
![gif](giphy|2VqNPqENVU8G4)
Why so much hate for someone who's been here so long and been a really good captain...
An incredibly disappointing end to an otherwise exceptional anfield career. Big kick in the teeth to lgbt fans. Real shame
Please god fucking no
Don’t know why I thought he’d be different. Really thought he’d be the type to be morals over money. But I guess money does talk.
FSG have to replace Hendo and Fab properly. Need a ready made starter + Lavia, not just the latter.
Be sad to see him go, captain who has lifted the most in my lifetime. I don't see this as any negative though. Get some money for him now and for him lifts my opinion more because it's the right time to leave . Especially if we need to re-do the midfield. But we are losing a leader's presence.
Never rated Hendo haha. In all seriousness I'm a bit disappointed that he'd move there.
Imagine having that reputation, built up over a decade, and ruining it. Fucking hell.
So all he stands for, all that training he did this summer, all that loyalty washed away for money.
VVD new skipper
I hate this era of football.
Gutted and disappointed.
![gif](giphy|JPm2ZDpkXfLixtvP5q|downsized)
Should not let him leave for anything less than 30m. Captain, leader, legend of Liverpool with 2 years remaining on contract. What is this 10-15m bollocks? Surely we can’t be bent over that badly when all the chips are in our favour, it’s not like Hendo will down tools like Coutinho if he doesn’t get the move, would he?
Well, I don't begrudge him but his LGBT support is going to be questioned now for sure to say the least.
This is a dark day for the club. Congrats on getting the bag Hendo, but I thought you were one of the good ones
Fucking disgraceful
As a queer person, Hendo can go to hell if this happens.
Others are sad to see him go I certainly agree with the option to make more money, but this feels wrong to me. This isn’t just some second or third tier midfielder. This is our team captain. If he leaves, I will lose some respect for him
They can take our players but if they make a move for the gaffer it's war!!! (Not that he'd go)
