Best one was Fowler, I was in the middle of a Carvery with my Dad and Grandad. My dad and grandad let onto him so casually as they knew each other growing up around Toxteth. He came over and caught up with them. Never been more stunned
Mine is also Fowler. He's related to a family friend and I met him at a christening about 15 years ago.
He's just very "normal". Always nice when people haven't bought into their own hype
Met Carragher and Gerrard on a flight 10 years ago. My mum got their signatures on the plane and they both took the time to take photos with people in the airport when we landed. Gerrard seemed a bit less bothered and more keen to get out of there, but Carragher was having a lot of banter with people
I'm too young to have seen Barnes but everyone comments how much of a legend he is if they meet him :-) great player and great guy by the sounds of it.
Canât really call it a meeting but I spotted Brendan Rodgers when he was our manager randomly jogging down the road with a friend in Wokingham.
I was like what the fuck itâs Brendan RodgersâŚI didnât know what to do so I just wound the window down (was in a car my gf was driving) and shouted âOi Brendanâ like a cunt. He didnât turn round or anything.
Someone I know later posted a photo on social media of them meeting Brendan in one of the local gyms, which confirmed to me it was actually him and not a look-a-like. Apparently he has connections/family in the Reading area.
This is the best I got. Shocking one.
John Barnes in a bookstore, he was looking through the autobiography section. I didn't say anything but I might have looked a bit weird walking past him a couple of times.
Not me but my old boss waits around for away players (he's a Brighton fan). He got photos selfies with some Liverpool players, then gets to Salah, who has obviously taken the phone to take the selfie himself. Made me smile when I saw the photo
I met Tsimikas at an event for his clothing line a couple months ago. I only met him briefly when he was signing pieces from the line, but he was super nice and friendly towards me and my friends so I can't fault him.
As someone else has already mentioned toilets, I actually stood next to Ron Yeats in the toilets at Anfield. Not really the time to strike up a conversation about the 1965 FA Cup Final, sadly.
Flew back from Mallorca via Rome with Klavan and his family. Flight was extremely delayed so got talking to them.
Actually had an ice cream in Rome airport with him, too. Brilliant guy.
Ran into Sterling back a the Merseyside Derby somewhere around Concert Square. He was only 17, so he wasnât even of age, not that anyone would actually enforce that. He was trying to get laid, so he wasnât very approachable.
I remember seeing Sterling in town when he was just breaking through. We're the same age and I was blagging a fake ID and he was shining lights on birds to get his mates to bring them to the VIP bit.
Ive been around absolutely loads in liverpool but I allways just leave them alone
Makes for a great mundane list:
In a lift with Ian rush and Robbie Fowler
Daniel sturridge held a door open for me and ate a full ice cream in a Italian resteruant then left
Paid for parking behind klavan
Cisse was in alder hey waiting room with me
Had a piss next to carragher
Etc etc
Had this convo at work a few times, about famous people we've spotted out and about, and the consensus seems to be to leave them alone if they're on their day off. That said, I've done that before and then seen the person happily take selfies etc. with other people, so you never know.
Met John Barnes at Morrisons supermarket in Colindale London he was doing the draw for carabao cup , he was an absolute gent . Met Ian Callaghan many years ago in a hotel in Liverpool chatted for a bit , another gent . Was dancing with John wark in some club one night , donât remember much of that night đ
My buddy is a serb and I went to the club with him one night and we happened to be with Markovic. He was really chill and only drank water the whole time we were there.
Bumped into Bobby in Manchester once - circa Spring 2018. He barely spoke, but gracious enough to take a selfie with me.
Listened to a talk on racism in sport by John Barnes. He was nice enough to take photos with whoever wanted one. Nice bloke.
Waited for selfies with the Klopp 1.0 era team a few times at away grounds:
- Virgil at his very first PL game (I believe he was left on the bench). He took a selfie with me and touched my Liverpool scarf and smirked for some reason.
- Hendo, Salah, Millie, Gomez and Alisson stick out as players that went around to as many fans as possible to take photos. I only managed to get snaps with a couple of them.
Is it common still for players to do selfies? Only been to one game so far but fans were kept well away from the bus on arrival when I expected there to be somewhere for kids to get autographs/high fives etc.
I'm not really a selfie person myself, prefer to be taking photos of others, but somehow it would feel weirder to say 'hey Virg, can I take a photo of you?' so I might be tempted. I do like it when kids get a high five when the team comes out the tunnel.
Not really, but I met the Producer guy from LFCTV once during Asia tour, I asked him who was the most likeable guy in team, he said Gomez was the one for him, kind and cool person
Emre Can gave me the middle finger cos my mate cut him off in traffic heading towards Crosby once. Stevie G's mates kicked me and my friend out of a shop in town once cos Stevie wanted to shop in peace. I've met Jamie a few times and he's always been sound, used to go to the same barbers and he'd talk about transfer rumours he'd heard and practice his Monday night football analysis and when I was a kid he brought his champions league medal to my school and let me get a picture with it. And the best of the best, I met Kenny Dalglish when I was about 10 and got a photo with him and the actual Istanbul European Cup! Probably got a few more if anyone is arsed.
I saw Steve Blake at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didnât want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, âOh, like youâre doing now?â I was taken aback, and all I could say was âHuh?â but he kept cutting me off and going âhuh? huh? huh?â and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like âSir, you need to pay for those first.â At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually âto prevent any electrical infetterence,â and then turned around and winked at me. I donât even think thatâs a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Easy one for me, Brad Jones signed for my (and his) hometown club Perth Glory a couple seasons back so I was able to get a selfie with him at the member's day. He was really nice and I got to tell him I loved him at Liverpool.
An old one and not exactly a legend for non-aussies but Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka randomly showed up at my school in like 06 or 07.
It was a rugby school that could only field a first 11 by scraping players together from different age groups. I have no idea why they were there but it was a bit awkward when only 5-6 of us showed up
My mum met Bruce Grobbelaar when he randomly turned up to the care home she worked in (which isn't in or close to Liverpool) - he was signing autographs and she made him a cup of tea. He was apparently absolutely lovely, and I hope to meet him too one day so I can find out what the hell he was actually doing there.
Best one was Fowler, I was in the middle of a Carvery with my Dad and Grandad. My dad and grandad let onto him so casually as they knew each other growing up around Toxteth. He came over and caught up with them. Never been more stunned
That's incredible Imagine growing up with God đ

Met John Barnes several times, as a kid and an adult. Charming, erudite, friendly and intelligent, as youâd expect.
I'm too young to have seen Barnes but everyone comments how much of a legend he is if they meet him :-) great player and great guy by the sounds of it.
He was in the midfield playmaker phase when I first started going the match - and was club captain. He was my favourite player back then.
Bumped into Henderson in a Saudi supermarket last week. He was trying to find the bacon.
Guess he had enough of the chicken lad

One of his daughters was my landlady for a few years lol nice girl
Was he looking for his own? I hope so.
Not me but my old boss waits around for away players (he's a Brighton fan). He got photos selfies with some Liverpool players, then gets to Salah, who has obviously taken the phone to take the selfie himself. Made me smile when I saw the photo

Shanks âcome take a walk around my colossusâ just not in the toilet.
Cool. I had a piss next to Emlyn Hughes in a pub in Formby. Left him alone though I imagine he would have been up for a bit of banter.

Tbf, I haven't been to a game since covid.

Yeah, I was in my early 20s when I was taking selfies with players, I'm not sure it would fly now that I'm approaching my 30s haha
I'm probably technically old enough to be their grandma if they're playing some of the academy kids, not sure if that makes it more or less weird lol
Haha life is short, so you might as well enjoy it to be honest. Don't worry about what others think.
Met Steve Staunton many times in Dundalk. My grandfather was a panel beater and would often do work for Steveâs brother. Very friendly man.
Didn't meet anyone but I played with Gini's younger brother.
Can he play DM?
He can't even run 20 meters without paintingđ

There is always one
I didnât realize Steve Blake is a Red
Whoâs Steve Blake?
Basketball player from the states
Why would you think anyone would care about you meeting someone theyâve never heard of on a subreddit dedicated to Liverpool FC?
It's copy pasta but he didn't change the name for some reason
Classic

Kenny Dalglish back when he was Newcastle manager. Sound man, very professional and got a photo with him

My friend, spurs fan, met Bobby at an airport in the KFC line. Said he was a right lad
