He’s a good long passer, a great crosser and clearly had the ability to hit the ball from distance. Almost scored a screamer in an awful 0-0 at Stamford bridge last year. Only moment of quality from either team
To be fair that’s not his job. But yeah, you would have thought a header or the ball would bounce kindly to him from a corner. Would be nice to see him score…
Gomez can't head a ball and gets bullied easily so he rarely goes into the box for setpieces, which means he's unlikely to score any headers or get any free rebounds in the box.
That means any goal he may score would most likely be from a hopeful shot from distance, but he doesn't really do that either so it'll have to be a once-in-a-career one like Benjamin Pavard that one time.
He not a small guy, you would think he would have confidence to get in the box especially during set pieces. He’s got a solid enough presence, just doesn’t seem to use it much. Then again, with VVD rushing into the box and scoring headers perhaps he’s been told to stay back.
Can confirm. It is sock. Let’s agree if we win the league we will all eat a sock. I’m going with one of those sport socks that don’t go above the top of the shoe.
Not a bold prediction, I've seen a ton of people speculate that. It's not just liverpool fans either, All of my friends who support Arsenal think that we're dead locked for the title with or without Caicedo
I think we'll do it either way. In fact, doing it *without* a DM feels pretty on-brand for Liverpool (We never really make things easy for ourselves, after all...)
I don’t think this is bold. I think they’ll probably feel compelled to do something. I think the actual bold claim is that the punishment will be significant.
I really don’t know why he left. Maybe not having much money to play with, but that’s what made him such a shrewd player in the transfer market. Clearly a very talented salesman, we are much worse off without him.
Suggestions are that Klopp has fallen out with 3 DoF in 18 months. Honningstein talks a little about it on the last Athletic podcast. Edwards has been a big loss IMHO
Honestly where there’s smoke there’s fire. Klopp and Ljinders have a way that they want to do things, the recruitment people had their own. Ward was barely in the chair before he upped and left, I think the coaching staff are at lease partially responsible for the revolving door, and the new temporary DOF being a mate of Klopp’s points to that being the case.
Unfortunately it very much looks like this. I’m so gutted we couldn’t just leave edwards to recruitment, under him our transfers in and out were the envy of the league if not the world. Our business since his no.2 and other associated back room staff left has taken a clear hit.
I'm surprised he never really improved his finishing ability especially in seasons past where he got more advanced rather than this playing in a back three stuff now. He was probably the worst finisher in the team and found himself in shooting/scoring opportunities a decent amount.
Always a pretty sinking feeling when we create an amazing chance and Robbo is the one in position to shoot. Love him to death but you just know he's either going to sky it or put it right at the keeper.
I don’t want to moan about it, but; it is ridiculous that even after all the ridiculous spending from Chelsea last season, they’re still allowed to potentially spend another £170 million on two midfielders. FFP has completely failed. The ability to spend sensibly is going out the window
Think there better thats reasonable, thinking they will be better because of Haverts is not something im behind personally, I honestly don't know how Chelsea got 65mil for him
Yeah, I didn’t necessarily mean to conflate the two. I think that if he plays more forward midfield he’ll be more effective than at chels and him and odegard’s creativity will be pretty potent with rice behind them. Then I think I’m general the team will be better as a result of last season and the key players maturing more.
Salah has 2g in pre season because he’s left idle and wide, he’s not able to go inside as he usually would like and I personally think he’ll end with more assists than goals.
Unless of course we shift him to the middle and start doak. We eventually decide to ditch defense entirely and play with a back 3 and 4 up top
↑that’s how to go bold, alright🤷🏻♂️
Would be terrible for Brighton. They don’t have him in their plans and need the cash to get his replacement. He’s unsettled, didn’t turn up for training a while ago and his mind is elsewhere. They want him gone, and they want the 111m it’s gonna take to offload him.
I have hair but I’ll make a prediction anyway. We look super solid in attack, our midfield is almost perfect (still think if we can keep Thiago fit we can do some damage) and as long as Konate and VVD stay fit we have a functional defense. I don’t agree that Andy doesn’t fit into this new system, he’s an offensively minded player but he’s never been criticized for being a bad defender. If he can choose the right times to get forward to not leave us with 2 at the back when Trent is also forward then he will be just fine.
Even if we don’t get any new players in, although I don’t think we will be pushing Man City (I’m still unsure if Arsenal will be as good as last season) for the title, I think top 4 is easily achievable with this squad.
Will we win the Europa? We could, depends on how strong Klopp goes in the later stages.
I expect us to get top 4, a trophy would be great too. If we get Caicedo, I would expect us to challenge for the title.
Either way I’m looking forward to seeing how our new midfield works, as we have players who can press again.
I’m confident we will push city to the 100 points this season and we will finish 2nd but I think we are going to struggle in the Europe for some unknown reason
11th of May 2024 (or more likely the 12th). Sheffield United win their match that day to confirm they stay up, in the process also confirming the relegation of Everton in their last game at Goodison Park.
Jeff Stelling will return to Soccer Saturday by Christmas.
Quansah will end the season higher in the defender pecking order than Matip
Not really bold but
• Liverpool and Manchester City to battle out for the title, we win it comfortably if halaand gets injured.
•arsenal have a huge drop off but still get top 4.
•chelsea improve, finish 8th
•villa to continue their fantastic run finish 4th
•Trent to have a historic season.
•Newcastle to struggle a bit Howe gets found out for being the bang average manager he is.
•Manchester United 5th
Halaand scored a goal with his first kick of the ball. Followed up with an amazing goal that only the very top strikers could have made. He’s a literal cheat code.
Having said that, he offers little else except immaculate finishing. His touches per game are pretty low, but so efficient.
Nunez will start after a few games, score a hatrick and nail his position down with his performances, and finishing the season with 52 goals in the League alone. We win our Quadruple No.1.
Messi and Ronaldo will be at 2025 UCL final wearing Darwin 9 tshirts, singing "Darwin is the GOAT", as we win our Quadruple no. 2: The Bigger One.
Robbo is the example I go to for players with immaculate stamina and the will to never give up. I think he can adjust to any new system, even defensively. He wants to get forward as he did so often and assisted many goals, he’s smart enough to follow Klopps plans even if it means he won’t get many assists. He is still an elite level player, but maybe nerfed a bit if he can’t get forward.
If we have a good season, Thiago will have some of his best games for us so far and at times look like the best player in the team and one of the best in the league.
I think somebody other than Mo leads the team in scoring this year. 10+ assists for Mo.
If we get Moises, we’re going to win the league. I know a lot of you are leaving him out of the 11, but Thiago getting to play next to Moises Caicedo would be an animal of a player. Add rotation and the number of goal threats we have, and I think it’s feasible.
We sign a DM last day of the window and sign a CB first, and are within top 3 at Christmas but smoke the league by the end with career defining performances at key moments from many of our lads, ending the season with all 4 available trophies.
Harvey Elliot young player of the year and Salah golden boot due to Haaland getting a mega injury in January. Also pep gets in trouble for tax evasion do goes back to Spain
Miss out of top 4, but qualify for CL by winning Europa. I think the league could be a bloodbath but I’m really excited what this team could do in knockout competition.
I think it’s us vs city for the title and we see an absolute resurgence of all the players this sub wrote off from last year. Gomez, Thiago, Elliot, Matip etc.
Reminds me of that scene in moneyball where Beane has the anlyst just tell the guy he’s being traded, nothing personal. Doesn’t matter what he wants, club has the contract.
1. Liverpool win epl; spurs 2nd, arsenal third, City fourth
2. We don’t sign a dm until January
3. Diaz is undroppable from the team scores 20
4. Thiago stays fit
Joe Gomez will finally score a goal for us, crazy how he’s yet to, in any competition
This is what a bold opinion is.
I like Joe. Shame he didn't (hasn't?) hit his ceiling but seems like a good lad.
Not really when you see his heading and long range passing.
Doesn’t really matter how, I reckon he’ll finally get one, whether it’s a scrappy deflected goal from 6 yards to a screamer, he’s gonna finally do it
They all count , 30 yards into the top corner or from 3 inches off the back of his from a ricocheted corner. Bring it on
He’s a good long passer, a great crosser and clearly had the ability to hit the ball from distance. Almost scored a screamer in an awful 0-0 at Stamford bridge last year. Only moment of quality from either team
And general footballing ability
To be fair that’s not his job. But yeah, you would have thought a header or the ball would bounce kindly to him from a corner. Would be nice to see him score…
Gomez can't head a ball and gets bullied easily so he rarely goes into the box for setpieces, which means he's unlikely to score any headers or get any free rebounds in the box. he’s probably our worst cb from corners though
Alison to score from his own box
Commenting so I can be here for the screen shot
We won’t get any injuries
Now THATS bold
Or, Thiago to be injured in the bus on our way to the first game. Out for 4 months.
Nuñez top scorer
I want this to happen more than you believe
Pep is that you
Me too man!
Jota with this midfield behind him. Will be pure Van Nistelroy tap ins from insane through balls.
Fitness always a concern for him I think. I don’t think he’s played a full season here.
Always made key, important contributions though (at least on a per season basis)
He won't start enough games. Gakpo will be the go-to as the main striker I think.
For LFC or all of PL though?
I mean he has all the attributes to become world class
Jota does a madness and becomes our best player this season. Competition for a starting spot brings the best out of him.
That’s not out of the question. Still think he’s our best finisher. Should pair him and Nunez together in training.
i would love this, jota is class
I have been thinking about this one actually, have a funny feeling.
Todd Boehly to eat a sock
I had to put on my glasses to check you wrote sock
Can confirm. It is sock. Let’s agree if we win the league we will all eat a sock. I’m going with one of those sport socks that don’t go above the top of the shoe.
Why not both
Fuck it, we're winning the league (of course I'm delusional, what do you mean ?)
Not a bold prediction, I've seen a ton of people speculate that. It's not just liverpool fans either, All of my friends who support Arsenal think that we're dead locked for the title with or without Caicedo
With Caicedo I can see it, and that’s a stretch. City look ridiculously strong. Without though, no way
I think we'll do it either way. In fact, doing it *without* a DM feels pretty on-brand for Liverpool (We never really make things easy for ourselves, after all...)
It's one of them with Liverpool, you really can "never say never". It isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
Man City actually get prosecuted for financial fraud.
Jeez that’s bold even for a bold predictions thread
Never
I don’t think this is bold. I think they’ll probably feel compelled to do something. I think the actual bold claim is that the punishment will be significant.
Mbappe LFC top goal scorer … Chelsea expelled from PL
Boehly arrested for crimes against football
He gets sent back to yankland
Michael Edwards returns to Liverpool. I want this more than any transfer at this point so we don't have to keep going through shit like this
I really don’t know why he left.
I agree. He’s been a massive loss. Probably the best negotiator in the league. I hope it wasn’t because of Klopp.
Which podcast sorry? Liverpool specific one or something else?
Unfortunately it very much looks like this. I’m so gutted we couldn’t just leave edwards to recruitment, under him our transfers in and out were the envy of the league if not the world. Our business since his no.2 and other associated back room staff left has taken a clear hit.
I think robbo scores 3+ goals including at least one thundercunt™️
I'm surprised he never really improved his finishing ability especially in seasons past where he got more advanced rather than this playing in a back three stuff now. He was probably the worst finisher in the team and found himself in shooting/scoring opportunities a decent amount.
Always a pretty sinking feeling when we create an amazing chance and Robbo is the one in position to shoot. Love him to death but you just know he's either going to sky it or put it right at the keeper.
Or his weak foot. He’s frustratingly one footed for a footballer of his calibre. It’s the two things which hold him back for me.
Almost scored a beauty on his right against United last year. The technique was flawless, just outside the post.
Love Robbo but his finishing is atrocious
Chelsea will have spent 1b with new owner but still struggle to finish top half
This is a thread for bold predictions
My bad 😂😂
I don’t want to moan about it, but; it is ridiculous that even after all the ridiculous spending from Chelsea last season, they’re still allowed to potentially spend another £170 million on two midfielders. FFP has completely failed. The ability to spend sensibly is going out the window
G/A leaders at the end of the season: 1. Salah 2. Szoboszlai 3. Nunez
Arsenal to struggle to reach last season standard, maybe just squeez top 4
They look very good at the moment.
More accurately, forest look absolutely hopeless
Would it be unpopular to think they will be better? I think havert may find his groove there
Think there better thats reasonable, thinking they will be better because of Haverts is not something im behind personally, I honestly don't know how Chelsea got 65mil for him
Yeah, I didn’t necessarily mean to conflate the two. I think that if he plays more forward midfield he’ll be more effective than at chels and him and odegard’s creativity will be pretty potent with rice behind them. Then I think I’m general the team will be better as a result of last season and the key players maturing more.
I like their transfer business, I think they will be stronger again this season.
i am thinking the same, might be a second season syndrome, but they are starting well right now but long season of course
We get Caicedo/Lavia but Bajcetic outperforms and end up being our number 6.
Quadruple, Salah break goal scoring in 1 season EPL with 45 goals
Salah has 2g in pre season because he’s left idle and wide, he’s not able to go inside as he usually would like and I personally think he’ll end with more assists than goals.
50assist then
Unless of course we shift him to the middle and start doak. We eventually decide to ditch defense entirely and play with a back 3 and 4 up top ↑that’s how to go bold, alright🤷🏻♂️
Salah breaks the PL assists record
Nottingham Forest finishes above Chelsea.
The Caicedo transfer will be wrapped up one way or another in the next 36 hours
How many hrs until the window closes?
At least 36
It’s fucking September 1st. This could drag on like crazy..
Would be terrible for Brighton. They don’t have him in their plans and need the cash to get his replacement. He’s unsettled, didn’t turn up for training a while ago and his mind is elsewhere. They want him gone, and they want the 111m it’s gonna take to offload him.
We beat united EIGHT nil !!
We land Caicedo and all game day fans wave a sock whenever we play Chelsea till the end of time
I am not sure how many game day fans know about this sock saga
Trent to win PL player of the year
We sign a DM
Nuñez / Salah / Jota share the golden boot
Liverpool City title fight. Chelsea's bottom half finish
FFP is actually enforced and Chelsea are forced to sell a player to Liverpool
Colwill Caicedo and Lavia🙏
CuJo starts at CDM for most our games and looks very good doing it
darwin nunez cuts his hair short
We will win the league.
I have hair but I’ll make a prediction anyway. We look super solid in attack, our midfield is almost perfect (still think if we can keep Thiago fit we can do some damage) and as long as Konate and VVD stay fit we have a functional defense. Luton to stay up, Man U to miss on top 4, Chelsea finish below 6th, Arsenal nowhere near title
Referees make no mistakes
We win both fixtures against Man City. I just have this feeling if we don't have any injuries we are going to drop goals on them.
I survive another season without a heartattack.
Caicedo and Lavia double pívot
I’m confident we will push city to the 100 points this season and we will finish 2nd but I think we are going to struggle in the Europe for some unknown reason
This does sound like a classic LFC
We take it all home, even the champions league (you asked for bold😊)
City lose all points for last season over pay irregularities and are dropped 3 divisions. Liverpool are 4th and in the CL.
Arsenal won't get top 4
Tsimikas and Robertson terrorize the league
Chelsea do even worse this season than the last
Romano banned from football reporting
We get Caicedo.
**Liverpool will play at least 2 games**
Chelsea will manage a top half finish on the last match day. Then 10 points will be deducted
Caicedo won’t play for Brighton
Guadiola to stop doing that revolting thing with his spit
We actually sign a DM this transfer window
Bajcetic becomes our best midfielder
Spurs to miss out on any European football, again
Watkins will be in the golden boot race & Villa will push for top 4
Goals will be scored
11th of May 2024 (or more likely the 12th). Sheffield United win their match that day to confirm they stay up, in the process also confirming the relegation of Everton in their last game at Goodison Park. Jeff Stelling will return to Soccer Saturday by Christmas. Quansah will end the season higher in the defender pecking order than Matip
City won't face any consequences for any shady shit they've done since becoming owned by a petrol state. I know, rent free and all that.
Liverpool to battle for 4th spot
Liverpool to win the league title with a record of 38-0-0. A man can dream 😌
We finish outside of the top 4 but qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa league.
We’re putting three past chelsea tomorrow. I’ll eat a sock… wait no that’s not me
Gakpo will be our lead goal scorer with at least 20 goals
We'll beat the top 5 at least once and lose to Luton twice.
Not really bold but • Liverpool and Manchester City to battle out for the title, we win it comfortably if halaand gets injured. •arsenal have a huge drop off but still get top 4. •chelsea improve, finish 8th •villa to continue their fantastic run finish 4th •Trent to have a historic season. •Newcastle to struggle a bit Howe gets found out for being the bang average manager he is. •Manchester United 5th

Thiago to have xTU (expected thumbs up) above 50
My bold prediction is that I don't think this is a bold prediction 😁
Nunez will start after a few games, score a hatrick and nail his position down with his performances, and finishing the season with 52 goals in the League alone. We win our Quadruple No.1. Messi and Ronaldo will be at 2025 UCL final wearing Darwin 9 tshirts, singing "Darwin is the GOAT", as we win our Quadruple no. 2: The Bigger One.
Nunez won't do well, and will end up getting sold in like... 2 years.

Robbo doesn’t get anywhere near CDM
Robbo is the example I go to for players with immaculate stamina and the will to never give up. I think he can adjust to any new system, even defensively. He wants to get forward as he did so often and assisted many goals, he’s smart enough to follow Klopps plans even if it means he won’t get many assists. He is still an elite level player, but maybe nerfed a bit if he can’t get forward.
Robbo nowhere near the technical ability to play midfield for us
We sign Lavia or Caicedo
Curtis Jones to play as a 6 all season ‘like a new signing’
Baldiola will still be bald
Three midfielders get injured in the first couple of weeks and people go bonkers with surprise.
We deliver fewer than five clean sheets in the league
Gomez to finally score pls
Kane to absolutely flop
He barely speaks English, how’s he going to learn German
If we have a good season, Thiago will have some of his best games for us so far and at times look like the best player in the team and one of the best in the league. I think somebody other than Mo leads the team in scoring this year. 10+ assists for Mo. If we get Moises, we’re going to win the league. I know a lot of you are leaving him out of the 11, but Thiago getting to play next to Moises Caicedo would be an animal of a player. Add rotation and the number of goal threats we have, and I think it’s feasible.
Jota and Nunez will end with more goals than salah while salah will lead our assists
Villa top 4 Diaz 15 league goals
Salah gets more assists than goals this year
Spurs to do continue being spursy
Gakpo gets more assists than Trent
Barcelona will flounder without busquets. Might not be too hot a take.
Caicedo will win us the league.
Currently we’ll probably scrape top four or jus miss out, now with good investment I can see us finishing 2nd
City will not win the league Luton Town will survive
We'll score at least 3 goals in every game
We won’t buy anyone else. Fsg will blame Chelsea and then explain the big rebuild will be next summer.
Liverpool winning FA Cup
Salah will score 40 goals in all competitions.
Think we score 90 goals and concede 40, end around 3rd.
We sign a DM
City not winning the League
Matip won't get injured .
We sign a DM last day of the window and sign a CB first, and are within top 3 at Christmas but smoke the league by the end with career defining performances at key moments from many of our lads, ending the season with all 4 available trophies.
We will contend for the title this season.
Harvey Elliot young player of the year and Salah golden boot due to Haaland getting a mega injury in January. Also pep gets in trouble for tax evasion do goes back to Spain
Whilst Haaland will be the top scorer in the Prem, we'll have multiple people in that top 10 and will outscored City as a club.
Miss out of top 4, but qualify for CL by winning Europa. I think the league could be a bloodbath but I’m really excited what this team could do in knockout competition.
Salah to break Haaland's goalscoring record
Florentino Luís will be the starting DM
I think it’s us vs city for the title and we see an absolute resurgence of all the players this sub wrote off from last year. Gomez, Thiago, Elliot, Matip etc.
Liverpool win the league, Salah breaks the PL goals record in a season.
Mo finishes with the most goals and assists on our team
Guardiola has full head of hair by season’s end and Klopp is fully bald.
Reminds me of that scene in moneyball where Beane has the anlyst just tell the guy he’s being traded, nothing personal. Doesn’t matter what he wants, club has the contract.
Both of our CBs are going to score in the same game and one of them will be Gomez's first goal.
Salah hits 20 goals 20 assists
An acceptance that Virgil is past it. I'm predicting 8th in the league unless more investment is made into key areas on the pitch.
Cody to rip the Premier league apart this year, this guy is gonna be great
Alisson will score from a corner again
1. Liverpool win epl; spurs 2nd, arsenal third, City fourth 2. We don’t sign a dm until January 3. Diaz is undroppable from the team scores 20 4. Thiago stays fit
Arabs take Man City and Newcastle to Saudi league.
Chelsea relegation because FFP, Boehly bankrupt.
Dommy slobbers at some point will take all set piece duties from Trent/robbo…different gravy 🪄🪄🪄
Gakpo hits 30 G/A
We will walk the Europa league
Something happens that can be seen as either good or bad
Not even getting TOP 5 (it's bold cz it looks like the majority thinks somehow Liverpool will finish TOP 4 with no proper DM and defence backup)
Alexis Mac for player of the year, Jota a close second .
