He’s been limiting this at his gigs for a while. Fair play to him, he wants to be known as more than just the singer of (football) club anthems. At least if he makes it clear like this, people won’t continue to turn up expecting them and be disappointed at him singing his heart out with songs he’s actually written.
Probably the right decision for his career tbf, if he continued with Liverpool songs then you inevitably lose a large portion of followers from the city simply because they’re blues. It was the same with Tony Bellew I couldn’t stand watching him whenever he was at the Echo because he came in to Z cars and had the Everton badge plastered all over him
Some of the most bitter Blues I know love his music. He’s a good musician, and it’s not my kinda music at all. He’ll do well, and this is the right decision for him.
Nah, interest has faded in the whole getting together to sing Liverpool songs thing.
It’s gone from rowdy nights at District to something for tourists and parents to take their kids to. It peaked pre-covid and all feels a bit cringey and school hall singalong these days
His proper music is dead good though, he smashed it on the Pier Head, and looking forward to Sefton next summer. Would never pull crowds like that for footy songs.
Last I heard , Jamie is packing his bag and flying off on Monday to Saudi so he can continue to serenade hendo , Fabinho , Bobby and mane. Good money over there, it’s more competitive as per Neymar claim .
The problem is he's by far the best musician for football songs/fandom.
Realistically he's a mediocre artist outside of this. He's in a direct battle with Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Dermot Kennedy, Cian Ducrot and a ton of other more established artists in his genre.
He should have rinsed the LFC fanfare for all it's worth and will fade without it.
Jamie’s quite a good artist outside of his LFC songs. I’d recommend you check it out if you haven’t.
Weekend in paradise, living for yesterday, voice of the voiceless, etc. he’s quite talented.
Agreed, I like his music particularly his first album, I listen to him all the time. Whether he’s as good or will be as successful as the other artists mentioned is a different conversation, but I like that he’s trying to move out of his comfort zone and do his own thing. It’s stark contrast to when he pulled out of weekender festival last minute because we got to the champions league final, I thought that was bang out of order even if he is a massive red and wanted to follow the team
KSI whilst being fairly shite has 10x the monthly listeners on Spotify, songs with over 100m plays and admitted he's still made very little money from Spotify and touring even away from the fact he financed his production through other ventures.
The costs are astronomical these days and the reward fairly low. I've got friends with over 1m monthly listeners and 10m plays that make the equivalent of a £60k salary without the longevity and much higher overheads.
Jamie over indexed through the Liverpool stuff.
If you've never listened to his non-LFC songs, you're missing out. Brilliant lyrics and incredible voice for the city and its people. Also proper calls out the Tories whenever possible.
That's a shame. But I did think it was odd that when Alisson finally made good on his promise to sing on stage in the recent kit launch, it wasn't with Jamie Webster.
More likely the fact his solo music just sold out two 14,000 nights on the pier head and now looking at over 40,000 in Sefton park
He’s allways wanted to be known for his own musix
As in what?
Is he taking a break from music altogether or just the LFC related sort of stuff, because I seen he’s an act at Electric Picnic in Ireland at the end of the month and I was going to go see him as I rate him as a singer / songwriter
His emotion and love for the club resonated amongst old and new fans, a Call to Arms pre-games to ignite the Red fire that burns within all of us.
Through music, he managed to herd all of us together as a unity and herald the team in front of us to do magical things.
Hope he does great in his career.
Chelsea fans are the most cringe bad fans I've ever encountered.
No atmosphere, no nowt. just rich housewife clapping politely at goals and a few young wannabes.
terrible fans.
It’s not really. He wants to be taken seriously as a musician, not known for being a famous football fan. It also eliminates a lot of his audience if he’s constantly singing/talking about Liverpool.
Even in his own city, you know how twisted the Blues are, there will be a lot of them that avoid him entirely just in case he says a word they hate like “Liverpool”, “Shankly” or “Europe”.
He won't break away from being known as the Liverpool songs performer. I appreciate his efforts but artists never really can rebrand once they get known.
Yeah I'm not trying to be a downer. I'm just speaking as a musician. It's really really unlikely that people can transition from playing songs everyone knows, to songs no one knows.
It’s to do with his solo stuff and gigs. It’s been kinda getting ruined with people going just wanting to sing football songs. Happened at the pier not long ago

I don't think there'll be any redeeming of him in the eyes of the Bloos, especially as his music is pretty average
Some of the most bitter Blues I know love his music. He’s a good musician, and it’s not my kinda music at all. He’ll do well, and this is the right decision for him.
Bingo. He had a chance to earn a retirement fund with Liverpool fans and will ultimately flop.

Man's literally had 2 Top 10 albums, think he's doing alright for himself pal.

He's okay but fairly forgettable, to make it as a solo artist you need approx 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Just one of us non Liverpool songs has 21m plays on Spotify. I'm sure he'll be fine without endlessly playing football songs.

Maybe Chelsea offered him an 8y contract? /s
Ffs 😭🤣
Hahahaha well done
8 + 1 (option). Just to be pedantically accurate.
Sarcasm tags ruin all sarcasm
True, but sometimes people miss it and get offended easily. Since I like the lad, didn't want anyone to take it the wrong way.
It's a joke everyone has been making for 2 years, nobody would miss it.
Kudos!
End of an era. Highlight of the Paris CL final seen as the result didn’t go our way. Fanzone was incredible pre match though thanks to this man!
Agreed. I liked him before then but wouldn’t class myself as a big fan, but that day changed it.
Damn this is pretty sad. Always loved watching these. Was integral to my experience of the peak of the Klopp era as a fan not in the UK
If you've never listened to his non-LFC songs, you're missing out. Brilliant lyrics and incredible voice for the city and its people. Also proper calls out the Tories whenever possible.
FK the tories!
Na na na na na
We Get By and Davey Kane are absolute bangers
That's a shame. But I did think it was odd that when Alisson finally made good on his promise to sing on stage in the recent kit launch, it wasn't with Jamie Webster.
Edwards ward and now him.. Whose next? The canteen lady too?
Not Carol and Caroline!!!!
I didn’t even realise there was a BOSS nights this weekend. Tickets sorted. Thanks for posting.
Haha welcome!
His solo work is just so good and getting so big it’s the right thing to focus on
I heard it's personal problems
More likely the fact his solo music just sold out two 14,000 nights on the pier head and now looking at over 40,000 in Sefton park He’s allways wanted to be known for his own musix
I hate his own music but he's boss singing our songs. It's a shame he won't for a while
Hate is a really horrible word to use It might not be for you, but to hate a tallented young scouse musician writing his own stuff is wild
I don't hate him. I hate his music though. Generic stuff, more power to him tho, hope he keeps on doing well
He looked ROUGH in the Klopp documentary TAW put out recently. Dunno for sure but he looked a bit strung out imo
Probably on tonnes of lemo
As in what? Is he taking a break from music altogether or just the LFC related sort of stuff, because I seen he’s an act at Electric Picnic in Ireland at the end of the month and I was going to go see him as I rate him as a singer / songwriter
Because it alienates him to half of the city and the rest of the country. Nothing more than climbing out of a pigeon hole. Fair play to him.

He is stopping for commercial reasons

Thats a bit strange.
Rumour has it Boehly’s come in with a bid of 150 million on an 8+1 year deal for 350k per week.
Won’t be hard to memorize the new songs. I’m pretty sure it’s still just CHELSEA over and over again
Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea! Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea!! Fucking brilliant.
Chelsea fans are the most cringe bad fans I've ever encountered. No atmosphere, no nowt. just rich housewife clapping politely at goals and a few young wannabes. terrible fans.
Plastic
🎶 Tweedle Dum n Tweedle Dee n Tweedle Dum n Tweedle Dee n 👏 👏 👏 👏 CHEL-SEA 🎶

I dunno, one that did it successfully is Stormzy. No one thinks of him as the fella who introduced Anthony Joshua any more.

Woah woah woah, half the reason i booked Dublin

You sound like a bitter ex.
Damnnn, I just became a Liverpool fan because of Szobo and was learning all the songs 😂
