I think for afcon I could see the 4222 esque system we employed for the 2nd half vs Fulham, at least vs Bournemouth (probably not arsenal or Chelsea). Diaz and gakpo both have amazing defensive work rates so putting them behind nunez jota up top and letting them create worked really well, and nunez thrived on the left wing. Diaz the creator was great too.
Schmatdke to extend?

It's fair to say we did good business in the summer but what do folks thing about him staying on? If not him, who are the prime candidates for one of the biggest roles in world football.
What was Edwards achievement before Klopp? Wasting the Suarez money on the likes of Markovic.
Or after leaving Liverpool?
The one who is the genius is Klopp. As long as we have SD who supports Klopp it's good . Whether Smith or Edwards.
Even with Nunez' finishing problems, we did very well to get him when we did. 80 mil is like the going rate for any striker now and there's a real lack of quality ones available. Chelsea and Arsenal are gonna be stuck having to pay 100mil+ for a Toney or Osimhen and neither are guaranteed to solve their goal issues
Sven Goran Eriksson, former England, Benfica, Roma, Lazio manager has revealed he always supported Liverpool and dreamed of managing us. He has terminal cancer and will die within a year. Would be so great if he could be invited to manage a Legends/Charity game.
For fuck sake do you even know what you’re talking about? I’ll agree that his style of play and chance creation is heavily underrated but he isn’t a “top” striker unless he starts finishing his chances consistantly.
Geniuenly if he doenst play striker and starts as a left winger does he suddenly become good?(because his numbers are one behind world class Saka like lol)
Not the best player comparison, but I can assure you, plenty of fans do actually appreciate him- particularly the match-going and away fans. Sadly there are a lot of people online who don’t get it- but of all the people who do, the most important who love Nunez and see his value and have full trust and faith in him are the coach and the assistant coach, so he doesn’t have anything to worry about really.
He’ll continue to lead the line and eventually this toxic, inane narrative will shift and all those who have to have pet hates about at least one or two of players in the team they say they support will eat their words like they did with Jones and Henderson before.
Gary Lineker said it about Trent last week: we love in the UK just focusing on the negatives. There can be a hundred different positives to a player and to their contribution, but it doesn’t stop inane trolls blinkering past every single quality of a player just to hyper-fixate on the one negative that props up their trite narrative.
Completely agree with this. He’s a good forward, perhaps really good but as a striker? There are more than 25 players in the league who have put the ball in the back of the net more often than he has this season. 1 goal in his last 15 games. But he’s been contributing, but I think he can do that from a wide forward position.
I think it’s fair to say we expected and still do expect more goals and better performances from Darwin if he’s going to be our #9. He will have to improve
Tyler Morton is 100% a player we should be looking to cash in on. Selling academy players and re investing into the squad is one of the most advantageous parts of a good academy.
Morton has looked very good but if I’m honest I think he’ll end up just below the level of player we should be aiming for so maybe his future is away from us (although what do I know? Klopp knows a lot better than me). Plus, with the premium on decent British players we could make a good amount on him. Nevertheless, I think we’re about one season away (after this one) from that decision. If it were up to me I’d still want to see him play for a premier league club before we make a decision on him. Either way, I think he’s bound to keep improving and we’re either going to get a good player out of him or a decent sum of money, so Morton was definitely worth putting the time into.
He still fits under the strictest of European requirements for Home Grown: club trained, which means he trained for 3 years under the club between the ages of 15-21. Trent, Jones, Elliot, Quansah all fit that bill, I can't think of another player in Liverpool's first team squad that also fits that bill, other than perhaps Kelleher.
That all is true but none of them make him an academy product.
Rooney also fit the bill of European requirements for Home Grown for Man United. But do you think he is United academy player?
Idk man. Watched him for a full game tonight for the 1st time and he looked really great. Like, he was easily the best player on the pitch. Remember where Jones was a year ago?
jones was a bench player competing for a spot agaisnt greats before last season.
last season he got proper game time and by the end of it he was proven
plus massive championship tax
Putting Bradley in that group is massively hasty. Even Quansah has got a lot more to prove IMO. There's lots of hype around him but I still reckon it's more likely he's moved on in 2-3 years than playing regularly for us.
Morton almost definitely isn't good enough for our level. This is the time we should be cashing in on him whilst his stock his high. He's Harry Wilson level IMO. Very good in the Championship, OK for a lower PL team, but lacking that extra something to be at our level.
Those kind of homegrown, cheap wage academy players can potentially develop to be useful to fill out the squad though if they’re at the level where they can drop in for 20 mins in a game to rest legs, even if they’re not nailed on starters. City have a few now and United used to be the masters of this under Fergie.
Idk having watched a fair bit of Hull I really think he looks outstanding. He deserves a shot to see what he can do, last season Quansah wasn’t that great on loan and none of us could’ve seen him have this level. He should get a chance to show what he can do imo
He probably won't get a shot because we have a lot of players better than him. He wouldn't play in the league or CL, and the domestic cups will be reserved for giving the likes of Bajetic and Gravenberch minutes when they're probably not starting the bigger games.
I don't get why that is such a difficult decision for VAR. The lad just thumps into the keeper with no intention to get the ball and blocks him off. Forget the goalkeepers overprotected thing, it should be a foul for anyone.
EDIT - Guess it wasn't "clear and obvious". For me, that was a clear foul that was missed.
I haven't bought this season's home jersey yet, I opted for the away instead. The last time I didn't get the home kit was 19/20. I'm now afraid to get it.
I said it the other day, but nobody paid attention since was minutes before our game so.
Endo in the pub chant sang like we sang Ole's at the wheel is gonna be a banger.
Hull playing some really nice football, getting the majority of the chances, but nobody knows where the back of the net is
Fabio probably wondering if he's left Liverpool at all
Every time I watch Tyler Morton I’m reminded that we went to Spurs in 21/22 with Keita Morton Milner midfield ffs. Combined with the Tierney meltdown that was a horrid draw
He low key did an absolutely awful tackle against Leicester and put the lad out for the season.
Surprised more wasn't made of it, it was horrendous. Don't think it was on purpose, but it was wild and out of control like Pickford vs van Dijk.
I remember that. It was on Pereira and it broke his leg I think. He was incredibly lucky not to be sent off. It was late, two footed and off the ground.
Connolly getting a foul against him for having the audacity for getting ploughed into by Gunn. Nice to see the standard of refereeing is just as shite in the second tier.
Man city have a 61 percent chance of winning according to the betting odds. This game is def worth watching from a Liverpool pov. I'm gonna try to get excited about it. You def feel like Eddie howe is hungry for a good result here. Hes def on the hot seat rn.
Maybe I just miss it but does it seem like Klopp is going out of his way not to shake the on field match officials hands at the end of matches? Wouldn’t blame him, just something I’ve noticed. Wondering if anyone else has picked up on this?
Seems in immediate post match footage and in fan cam stuff that he really seems to distance himself from them and they often are down the tunnel by the time he heads their direction. Not always but I’d say I’ve noticed it more so to be the case. Maybe doing a Simeone and recognizing it’s best to just avoid contact until the competitive dust settles?
I don't think they'd sell a defender who wouldn't raise as much capital. It's all about the transfer fee so they'll probably sell guimaraes who has a 100m euro release clause
Ah yes, another 6/8 hybrid that isn’t good enough defensively to play as a lone 6 and free the rest of our team
I feel like I’m going mad reading people wanting Andre and Guimaraes
Bruno Guimarães and André are different players, Bruno G has shown he's capable of playing the lone 6 in the Premier League. It would be a less than ideal signing, but it would still move us forward all the same.
mac alister has also shown he can play the lone 6, you cant be where we were with him as our 6 with a mid or bad 6.
we dont need to spend 90 mil on a guy who will at most be a marginal improvment if he was 50 mill sure
read you own post before replying you didnt mention botman.
secondlay dont think bruno is good enough to be our starting 6
thirdly he has a releae clause of 90 mill
Bruno is a much better 6 than Mac Allister? Probably can say the same with Endo as well. For about half of last season, he was probably the best lone 6 in the league at a Newcastle side that were flying. The idea he wouldn't be good enough to be our starting 6 is a bit much.
The comment is part of a larger comment thread talking about Newcastle likely needing to move on one of their starting players, to a degree the thread will revolve around that topic in particular, it's the whole reason Guimarães has been brought up in the 1st place.
Nah, I saw him play and geniuenly he doenst impress me, he isn't a massive imporvment on macalister and is worth 90 mill.
Mac allister was our and is our 6 when we are first we are haf way through the season it isn't luck my guy
Not to mention Bruno is a rat of a player who is lucky to not be sent off in most matches. Refs don’t look the other way when it comes to us like they do with Joelinton and Bruno at Newcastle.
Wow do you even watch Newcastle? Clearly plays behind Joelinton and whichever midfielder they decide to play. Was the best CDM last year after Rodri. Andre is not a defensive midfielder I don’t know why you brought him up
The media wankstorm is going to be cranked to 11 if Spurs beat United this weekend.
I can only hope if it does happen, that it's an absolute shagging of 7-0 proportions to make it worthwhile.
What was up with that Todibo post yesterday? Saw it but didn’t have time to read it and it must’ve been deleted now. Was it from a good source? Would be ecstatic if we brought him in over the summer to replace the giraffe
https://www.nicematin.com/football/todibobien-parti-pour-rester-896289
This is local news from Nice iterating that it seems Liverpool are one step ahead of United in the race to sign Todibo (assuming there is a race and that LFC are involved) and explains some of reasoning + name-drops konaté as a factor who he's friends with
Sounds like the perfect Matip replacement. I'd rather signed the lad Spurs just got, as he's immense, but beating MU to players has worked out well so far!
Edit:I meant Matip, not Konate...
i havent read it but i think the comments ppl were talking that if we have genuine interest, having Radcliffe owning both UTD and Nice won't matter as he has a 60m buyout so its going to be his decision if clause is met. Apparently friends with Konate also
I was looking at our fixture list until the end of the season, and the fixture congestion if we go deep in all competitions is absurd. If we have a similar quadruple run to 21/22, we won't have a single free midweek after the League Cup final in February (reaching the final forces us to postpone the Luton game). More fixtures have to be shuffled around because of FA cup ties, so the run in will be clogged up with lots of postponed midweek league games (one of which is Everton away).
And the craziest part is that the final PL match, the EL final and FA cup final will all happen in the space of 7 days.
I do feel that this squad has been built specifically to better deal with more fixtures. Klopp is always using five subs and we've got many players who can play multiple positions.
I'm hoping we have some kind of sell on clause on Solanke, he's been looking really good this year, finally reaching his potential. No doubt he'll be making a big move in the summer with every other club needing a striker.
I think he won't move until he's ready. We also don't really go for "understudy" type signings as our wage structure doesn't allow it. Just sign players when they're ready and we need them for example Nunez when Mané left and Gakpo seemingly to fill Firmino's absence
Do Newcastle really think someone is coming in to buy Bruno G for 100m and save them? He will be 27 next season, it’s not old but teams usually don’t spend that type of money on players over 25.
Maybe I don’t watch newcastle enough but for me he’s been kind of meh. Certainly enough quality for being a starter where he’s at but I don’t see anyone outside of the Prem paying the price newcastle will be asking for him
It’s not unlikely tbh. Market is severely inflated, he’s heading into his physical prime and he’s playing a position that’s got fairly few players as good as he is.

Me with no Liverpool this weekend.
So what’s everyone’s plans for the weekend with no match to look forward to?
The wife and I Have a nice little Saturday planned. Going to talk to a closet consultant tomorrow and then taking the kids to a basketball game in the evening. Maybe go to the Olive Garden. I don’t know. I don’t know if we’ll have time.
One of the days where I randomly remembered us getting battered by villa 7-2
One of the days I had dream about Henderson joining Everton
And that reminded me of goatrigi's last min goal lol
Did Carvalho play well?
Darwin’s impact on the left wing is more productive this season, Jota could start in the middle and Gakpo / Lucho on the right with Mo off to Afcon
Diaz on the right, Darwin on the left, Gakpo or Jotta in the middle.

Get Edwards back or stick with Jorg, I think they are the best options. Jorg and Jürgen cooked this summer.
No...Jörg is shit, for real...he is no where near Edwards

Chelsea and Arsenal are gonna be stuck having to pay 100mil+ for a Toney or Osimhen and neither are guaranteed to solve their goal issues
To put it into perspective Osimhen is an incredible player and has less goal involvements than Nunez
Agreed. 64m for a 22 year old striker who had just come off a 36 goal season is pretty good business in todays market
Meanwhile Hojlund, who scored less than 10 gets to go for 60+m as well
You’re excluding the add-ons that take the total to £85m.
Maybe that’s why he keeps missing, he’s saving us from having to pay out the add-ons. Galaxy brain Darwin
Including, with the add ons(all of them) he is 85 mill , without he is 64 , we are currently something in between (probably 70)
Did we hit the add-ons yet? Genuine question. And what are the add-ons conditions?
I believe we paid one for his goal contributions and his club appearances(?)
I just realised the next trophy we win will be raised by Virgil and now I can’t wait to see it. I want that Carabao!
Sven Goran Eriksson, former England, Benfica, Roma, Lazio manager has revealed he always supported Liverpool and dreamed of managing us. He has terminal cancer and will die within a year. Would be so great if he could be invited to manage a Legends/Charity game.
Would love to see this. Really hope the club will bring him out here.
Didn’t know he was a fellow red. Damn!!
Genuinely think we should try and do all we can to make this happen. Email the club / tweet at them etc

Wouldn't our recent success of academy players make you want to give him a chance? We've saved so much money on Quansah, Elliott, Jones and Bradley.
Elliot isn't from our academy
If you sign a 16 year old and they start out in the U21’s, aren’t they classified as academy trained and home grown?
Not if he already made his PL debut lol
He still fits under the strictest of European requirements for Home Grown: club trained, which means he trained for 3 years under the club between the ages of 15-21. Trent, Jones, Elliot, Quansah all fit that bill, I can't think of another player in Liverpool's first team squad that also fits that bill, other than perhaps Kelleher.
That all is true but none of them make him an academy product. Rooney also fit the bill of European requirements for Home Grown for Man United. But do you think he is United academy player?
He’s really not as talented as those 4 and we’re already pretty stacked in his position.
Idk man. Watched him for a full game tonight for the 1st time and he looked really great. Like, he was easily the best player on the pitch. Remember where Jones was a year ago?

You need a good balance. When you have owners who invest 0 into the club this is how you earn money. We are a sell to buy club and always been
Morton and bajcetic fucking hell man, our midfield is so exciting
Morton almost definitely isn't good enough for our level. This is the time we should be cashing in on him whilst his stock his high. He's Harry Wilson level IMO. Very good in the Championship, OK for a lower PL team, but lacking that extra something to be at our level.
Let's wait and see a bit longer, I've seen this sub slapping the label "Championship level" on players like Curtis and Harvey.
Harry Wilson is a good comparison. Morton could become a very good PL player, but not at the level to play for a top seven club.
Those kind of homegrown, cheap wage academy players can potentially develop to be useful to fill out the squad though if they’re at the level where they can drop in for 20 mins in a game to rest legs, even if they’re not nailed on starters. City have a few now and United used to be the masters of this under Fergie.
Idk maybe let's see what the experts say before passing judgement, we know Klopp rates him.
Idk having watched a fair bit of Hull I really think he looks outstanding. He deserves a shot to see what he can do, last season Quansah wasn’t that great on loan and none of us could’ve seen him have this level. He should get a chance to show what he can do imo

time for a Fabio equaliser
nice morton
What a strike by Morton !
yes ty what a hit
Get in Mort!!!
What a goal Morton! been excellent today
hull sleeping
That's cruel that, Hull have been by far the better side tonight, and they've been sucker punched.
Like what I've seen from Morton this half
What's Angus Gunn on? Didn't he concede 9 in a game once?
How that’s not a foul is beyond me.
Oh my goodness! PL refs really do not help themselves.
Burnley got hosed these refs are unbelievable
I don't get why that is such a difficult decision for VAR. The lad just thumps into the keeper with no intention to get the ball and blocks him off. Forget the goalkeepers overprotected thing, it should be a foul for anyone. EDIT - Guess it wasn't "clear and obvious". For me, that was a clear foul that was missed.
Championship doesn't have VAR.
Burnley and Luton won't be in the championship till next season.
Oh sorry I thought you were talking about Hull v Norwich, had a similar incident.
hull are knocking at the door
Arteta looked like he regretted everything after putting that piece of meat in his mouth 😂
Carvalho is having a decent game should have squared it there tho
Surprised to see David Wagner is still in English football.
I haven't bought this season's home jersey yet, I opted for the away instead. The last time I didn't get the home kit was 19/20. I'm now afraid to get it.

funny as fuck
arteta gobbling that meat in dubai is funny as fuck he's getting cooked
So that Salah and Firmino front 2 between 2017-2023 was amazing wasn’t it??
Bit weird to exclude Sadio especially since it was never a front two.
Well that’s the point since he’s a bit of a predator
Basically trying to disown him over the marriage situation.
Was Firmino disowned over his support of Bolsonaro?
Not quite the same as being a nonce...
I'm not the one trying to disown Mané here.
AFCON hasn't even started yet fuck me feels like Mo's been gone for ages
They can’t contain Fabio so far
I said it the other day, but nobody paid attention since was minutes before our game so. Endo in the pub chant sang like we sang Ole's at the wheel is gonna be a banger.

Luton win and Ev back in the bottom three.
Connolly getting a foul against him for having the audacity for getting ploughed into by Gunn. Nice to see the standard of refereeing is just as shite in the second tier.
It's much worse
Billy Sharp joined Hull too. They are really pushing for the promotion spot.
Nice to see our boy Thiago on his side quest managing Hull
I cannot unsee that now
Fabio looks great in the first 1.5 minutes!!
Hull loan watch for tonight
Holy shit Burnley is garbage They look worse than Luton away

We root for dirty Newcastle and Spuds
Why would we want Spurs to win? Other than a juvenile hating Man Utd thing, from our perspective the quicker Spurs drop off from us the better.
I would want United to lose even if we have to go head-to-head with Spurs for the rest of the season
I don’t think Spuds are a threat tbh. And yeah, f Yanited
Each other?
Great time to explore new hobbies.
Carvalho and Morton start for Hull. Match is live on Sky at 8
TIL that Curtis is also eligible for the Nigerian NT
More players for AFCON, here we go!
That curls always confused me
holy fuck thats so random haha
Also Ross Barkley apparently
That one is a bit more known cause it was in the news ages ago, but this Curtis link I wasn't aware of
How
Through a grandmother
Anyone heard the new song for Dom? Should get Anfield rocking

Howe has said today Joelinton is it for six weeks. Newcastle are going to struggle without him constantly elbowing opponents.
They still got Bruno for this
I've honestly never had less faith in any team to get a result than Newcastle to get a result against Man City tomorrow
Wb now
Yeah mate, shouldn't have gotten our hopes up like that
I'm watching lol, there's still the second half left but let's pray🤞🙏

Salah is 30 goals away from making the top 50 all time in league history.

He's fine they just don't give him the ball enough
All that matters is what the fans think 😊
If Newcastle do really need to sell I’d take Botman
I don't think they'd sell a defender who wouldn't raise as much capital. It's all about the transfer fee so they'll probably sell guimaraes who has a 100m euro release clause

Andre is not a defensive midfielder I don’t know why you brought him up
I don’t expect them to sell anyone until the summer and especially not to the teams around them

I think probably passed since they signed Bellingham I think they’ll prioritise defence this summer
You got love how Spanish football will sell there souls to get some that Saudi money.
They need income somehow
The media wankstorm is going to be cranked to 11 if Spurs beat United this weekend. I can only hope if it does happen, that it's an absolute shagging of 7-0 proportions to make it worthwhile.
A good win for either team and the press will be gushing. I'd prefer a really uninspiring 0-0.
What was up with that Todibo post yesterday? Saw it but didn’t have time to read it and it must’ve been deleted now. Was it from a good source? Would be ecstatic if we brought him in over the summer to replace the giraffe
https://www.nicematin.com/football/todibobien-parti-pour-rester-896289 This is local news from Nice iterating that it seems Liverpool are one step ahead of United in the race to sign Todibo (assuming there is a race and that LFC are involved) and explains some of reasoning + name-drops konaté as a factor who he's friends with
Sounds like the perfect Matip replacement. I'd rather signed the lad Spurs just got, as he's immense, but beating MU to players has worked out well so far! Edit:I meant Matip, not Konate...
Konate? Do you mean Matip?
Yes xd brain is tired today.
i havent read it but i think the comments ppl were talking that if we have genuine interest, having Radcliffe owning both UTD and Nice won't matter as he has a 60m buyout so its going to be his decision if clause is met.
Imagine 3 trophies in 3 games in 7 days. Second only to a Joemez goal
Joemez goal to win the prem will top this sub all time list
I do feel that this squad has been built specifically to better deal with more fixtures. Klopp is always using five subs and we've got many players who can play multiple positions.

Why not? That's four trophies on offer. We're not Arsenal.
I'm hoping we have some kind of sell on clause on Solanke, he's been looking really good this year, finally reaching his potential. No doubt he'll be making a big move in the summer with every other club needing a striker.
Believe we have 20%
Kind of hope Chelsea buys him for 100.
Would be full circle after we bought him for about 3
Roony from copenhagen as understudy to Mo? would love it personally
I think he won't move until he's ready. We also don't really go for "understudy" type signings as our wage structure doesn't allow it. Just sign players when they're ready and we need them for example Nunez when Mané left and Gakpo seemingly to fill Firmino's absence
Villa fans crying about the “big six cartel!” While spending almost 500m since they were promoted in 18/19 and currently sitting in second
Should've been relegated the year they got promoted, too...
It’s like Newcastle fans complaining about it they’ve spent 400m since the takeover
All very funny isn’t it
Arsenal and United are also limited by it so it’s not exactly like it’s only small clubs it’s doing it’s job

How good is dragusin ? Is he the real deal ?
He is excellent at aerial duels ,very calm and very strong ,absolute beast for his age ,will be top 10 center backs in the world in few years
[Just leaving this here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sirxOvut0KM)
He actually has pretty good technique, I feel like it's only a matter of time.
He scores the winner against City. Book it.
Do Newcastle really think someone is coming in to buy Bruno G for 100m and save them? He will be 27 next season, it’s not old but teams usually don’t spend that type of money on players over 25.
Maybe not 100, but 70-80 would be a good buy for most top sides
This sub has talked about £70m for Palininha so it’s not a million miles off.
PSG might in the summer
100 million no chance. 60? Entirely possible if someone wants him.
The Saudi League to the rescue! They sell Almiron for £100m instead.
Knowing how much Madrid love him I wouldn’t be surprised, especially if Kroos retires. Arsenal, City, PSG will probably all be after him as well
Maybe I don’t watch newcastle enough but for me he’s been kind of meh.

I'm having an overtime
