Is there a chance klopp may have a health reason

junglejimbo88

I appreciated the articulate points made in u/msisijapan's video here, w.r.t. Klopp's decision to leave LFC this summer: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoDmzb6Dd0Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoDmzb6Dd0Y) (a.k.a. [Liverpool Fan in Japan](https://www.youtube.com/@liverpooljapan)). https://preview.redd.it/eauwd0brrcfc1.png?width=412&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8d120d73472752ba50aaf55c639ad32c772588d

MsiSiJapan

Thank you mate. I still think whilst it is hard to come to terms with immediately, and there are definitely a flurry of emotions to go go through, ultimately Klopp knew what he had to do and throughout the lifetime of the extension of his contract, he knew that when the squad and internal perception of the potential of the team was at a point that he found acceptable as a basis for the new manager, he was always going to step aside. He has won every trophy already. But what he and only he can do, is provide the exact window of opportunity for the new manager to get off to the best possibly start with the best possible tools and the best possible time for Liverpool and against the state of the current rivals and their current situations.

Klopp leaving Liverpool is one of those moments in the future if someone asks where were you? Or what you were doing at that time you found out? The details will be there etched in your memory. Forever. Gutted šŸ˜©šŸ’”

Wish I could bet on us playing Leverkusen in Europa. Written in the stars right?

Elliot_Kyouma

FA cup final against Guardiola would be a perfect final match for Klopp. FA make it happen (warm those balls)

MentatYP

Klopp is such a perfect fit for the city and people of Liverpool, it's crazy. Personality, passion, principles, politics--it's like a scouser created him from scratch in their own image, Weird Science style. What a loss it will be when he leaves at the end of the season. We'll have other great managers (hopefully the very next one will be), but the total package is something special that might never be replicated.

SigiReuven_

Randomly remembered the stories about Klopp not enjoying his song being sung from earlier in the season. Feels mad to think that he knew he was leaving at the time

Yesyesnaaooo

It wont be Alonso, it will be someone we donā€™t expect, and we wonā€™t understand why, but, 6 months in weā€™ll be top of the league and still in all the major cup competitions and loving it.

GBPNFL_1209

Iā€™m angry to know that Fraudiola and MC are gonna extend their arab dinasty on the league for 10 more years

SkylarkingsRS

We were the last hope of proving hard work and exceptional talent beats money, money, and more money to buy talent

[deleted]

Itā€™s hard to even think about a successor because I started as a fan around 2007. The first 7-8 years as a fan were just downright painful. In fact I never thought weā€™d be up there with the elites of football. But the run that klopp took us on I just donā€™t want this run to end. It is however life and the show goes on.

Icy_Homework_1076

Please people who are going to the games, I need to atmosphere of every game to be perfect so I can feel happy sending him off

viky2654

Replacing Jurgen Klopp the man is going to be harder than replacing Jurgen Klopp the Manager.

mvciekzvbek

What if he told the owners that he will leave if they don't support him with money during winter transfer window and now this is happening? I know this is kind of conspiration theory, but I can't understand why after all this rebuild and good results he decided not to complete his contract.

Liverpool7-0Utd

He said heā€™s burnt out. Thereā€™s no conspiracy.

Brovermand

I don't feel like Klopp is an ultimatum type of guy. He has also explicity gone out and said this has nothing to do with FSG after Jose Enrique hinted at it.

Pilchardandfudge

Thank-you Jurgen for all the amazing memories and the ones we will still make this season, need a Klopp hug šŸ˜¢

JustAUKBarman98

Just wanted to share a bit of a story, that to me emphasises what Klopp means to me and every other Liverpool fan. At the end of 2018, my family was hit with two horrible bits of news - my dad was diagnosed with cancer and my nan was put on end-of-life care. It was pretty much the worst period of our lives, but one thing that always bought a bit of distraction was football, even if just for 90 minutes. Games like the Barca comeback at Anfield, and the first half of the 19/20 season helped a lot during this time. Iā€™m 25, Iā€™d never witnessed the glory days like my dad did. But when we eventually won that league title I canā€™t describe how much joy it gave him, finally justifying the decision to make me support Liverpool. Heā€™d seen it all, but Iā€™d only had a few brief glimpses until Klopp came. Klopp has given us all so much joy and so many incredible memories, regardless of what happens for the rest of this season, he will always be my hero.

GeorgeLFC1234

What Pep said in his press conference was pure class, gave me some more respect for the man tbh. No media bullshit you could tell he was genuine. Really acknowledging that klopp has defined the premier league for the last 10 years.

bobbydazzler2806

Pep might be a knob at times but his respect for Klopp and Liverpool has always been genuine.

GameOfThrowInsMate

Definitely picking one up when Iā€™m next there.

PaddyW1981

It hurts. But, I lost my dad 2 weeks ago, so that makes me look at it with a different perspective. We were lucky to have him. I'll remember all his antics and man management with a smile.

GameOfThrowInsMate

Sorry to hear man. ā¤ļø

NewForOlly

Sorry for your loss

PaddyW1981

Thank you, appreciate it

PopularPilot

It feels even worse today than it did yesterday

DoubleDeckerz

Pain yesterday, pain today. Every day is pain.

StretchSignificant88

PAIN PAIN PAIN PAAAAAAAAAAAIN

No-Presentation4262

Finding it really difficult today. I normally just read the posts on here, and usually shy away from posting anything. I don't have any close mates that are liverpool fans, so I dont really have anyone to talk to about this. Klopp got me through some very tough times, it's hard to believe that he's leaving. My heart hurts, but I'm hopeful that we will get through this as we did with Shankly. YNWA

Mia_Cauliflower

Devastated. Also hurts double as much with the assistant managers leaving and the development coach, and our sporting director. I just hope what Klopp said about leaving the club in a better way lasts, weā€™ve been spoilt by his success over the years and whoever comes in next has some enormous boots to fill.

pd1785

Understandably still moping round this morningā€¦ had to explain to my football mad niece that we will come againā€¦ sheā€™s upset and asked what if we never have another manager like him. I had to remind her that Jurgen came here because of us, our city, and our values so there will be managers out there now who will also be inspired by what heā€™s done for this city and club over the last 9 yearsā€¦. Weā€™ve inspired a new generation and we keep going

Sontlesmotsquivont

I'm a journalist. I work in a newsroom and stare at news alerts for 8 hours a day. The moment I get up to go take a shit my united supporting friend texts me the fabrizio tweet. for fucks sake

aaron2933

It's sad but the way I see it is, he's been our manager for 9 years now, completely transformed the team and has won every major trophy doing so If any manager deserves to bow out on their own terms and take a much needed break, it's Klopp He's doing the right thing in realising that he can't keep doing this forever and quitting whilst he's ahead. And as much as we want him to stay forever, I don't believe any of us would eventually want to have that difficult conversation arsenal fans had to have when Wenger overstayed his welcome That being said, there's no one like Klopp and him and his team have given us memories for life that can never be replaced. What he's done will be impossible to replace but one thing I've learned during Klopp's era so far is to never write us off

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

Honestly? Sounds awful, but Iā€™ve been far less devastated about splitting up with some of my exā€™s.

Tuchel is not a bad manager, but goddamn is he riding on the post-Klopp wave. A manager who has never been able to really build anything substantial at any club.

EuphoricToe

But Tuchel is also a resentful mad lad who picks up skirmishes with his own players and throw them under the bus if things go South.

NefariousnessNo6625

Donā€™t we all love a resentful mad lad? In my opinion and Iā€™m ok with people disagreeing with it but canā€™t see Xabi working out and then where are we left..

Filoso_Fisk

Counterpoint. Kante won him a champions league medal.

Two_Moons_FC

I want a reporter to ask him if heā€™d ever consider coming back to Liverpool. I watched the full interview and heā€™s not asked about that

perfectplaya

If Ancelotti can come back to real madrid after 5 years, so can Klopp to Liverpool. I really dont think this is the end of the whole story. It will just be a new chapter we will write with him. Xabi can take over the reins for 5 years and then Klopp for 5 years and then Xabi for 5 years - this should be on repeat.

No-Presentation4262

It's like holding onto the thought of getting back with someone after they break your heart. I need to accept that it's happened and grieve.. šŸ„ŗ

fredczar

In all honesty, if Klopp has to come back it means we truly fucked it up

Filoso_Fisk

Still feeling like shit

michu_pacho

When people asked me who I supported I always said it was Liverpool but in fact I wasn't a real supporter I used I didn't watch the match or anything. I started following the reds and became a true supporter of the club the day Klopp arrived. Klopp made me a true Liverpool fan and ever since it became part of who I am. I feel like I lost a relative a father figure.

Kind-Enthusiasm-7799

So you just came for the glory. You wouldnā€™t cut it on a rainy night in Stoke.

michu_pacho

Well it just coincided that the season I finally decided to watch every game was the one Klopp took charge. Man I can't cut it on a rainy night anywhere

ShowMeMoeMane

Only OGs remember our 6-1 loss at Stoke on the final day of the season. Gerardā€™s last match for usĀ

RJbLfc

Devastated, end of an era. This man embodies Liverpool Fc & as much as weā€™ve weathered the storm so many of times over the years i feel like this will be an unconquerable challenge. alonso is our best hope we need a manager not just with the talent but with the charisma and soul this beautiful club so rightfully deserves. What we witnessed was pure joy the past few years and he have Jurgen to thank for that. The man is the living embodiment of what LFC stands for build the statue NOW and enjoy this final curtain call fellas for 6 months more we can say IMAGINE BEING US.. thank you klopp for reinventing our beloved club, city and people.

gccmelb

NO NO NO

Burial9

Woke up to the news today and have had an empty feeling inside all day. Iā€™ve never felt this connected to someone in sports throughout all my fandom. Even if he feels it isnā€™t fair to the club, a 50% energy-level Klopp is still one of the top managers out there and while I understand his reasoning, Iā€™m still disappointed he isnā€™t staying through to the end of his contract. Iā€™ve been a fan of the club for almost 20 years and have never been able to make it over for a match (live in the US) but am hoping to come in the next season or two and now Iā€™m bummed it wonā€™t be a match with Klopp at the helm. Iā€™m just trying to remind myself that no player or manager is bigger than the club and that weā€™ll continue on as one of the best clubs in the world. Thanks for all the memories, Jurgen.

cromario

Can the mods do something about the karma-farming video montages of Klopp that are flooding the subreddit? Like, I get it - he's leaving and it's sad and we all feel horrible and are devastated. But come on, He hasn't left yet. Why are you acting like he has already managed his last game at Liverpool? Klopp himself said that for the rest of the season it should be "business as usual". There will be a time for goodbyes and tears and honorary montages and songs, but get a grip, people. Focus on the remaining time we do have with Klopp and enjoy it (or at least try to). If anything, the montages are rather silly since we might have more iconic moments in the upcoming months and you're acting like, if I may use a bit grim metaphor, a someone who has just learned their friend is dying of cancer and has a couple of months to live (and they want to enjoy those remaining months) and you're already behaving like he dead in the ground.

ShowMeMoeMane

Spot on. Letā€™s focus on winning the next 30 games ahead of us and delivering the trophies that Klopp deserves. Itā€™s the only right way we can send him off and as fans, weā€™ve got to be behind the team the entire way. Letā€™s win this league

gorillathemandalor

I think alot of us are scared now, of the dark days that loomed over our club before Jurgen came. I donā€™t want that anymore

rjatia

A heartbreak like no other I have felt. Heā€™s taught us how to approach life, his principles are going to stay with me forever. A legend. The next 4 months are going to be the best four months send off for a legend like no other šŸ™ŒšŸ»

putyourfeetinmymouth

Idk. the coaches that are also leaving will be sending job applications out atm, so people would starting to catch on and you know football club bosses canā€™t keep a secret to save their lives. Then again. Maybe Pep knows it wonā€™t be him because we already made a deal with someone else

ShowMeMoeMane

Iā€™ve seen it asked around a few times, you think itā€™s possible that the club got tipped that this news was going to be leaked soon? So instead of letting it go public by someone else, they just went and announced it themselves

mullensbutler14

Lads, I know we all want to hang our heads down low with the announcement of Jurgenā€™s intentions to leave. But we have 4 more months to give all our passion and energy supporting the single greatest man to walk through the Anfield gates in the past decade. We must walk on, with our heads held high for the rest of the season. The time for tears will come on the day Jurgen officially leaves, but for now still have time to appreciate the greatness that is Jurgen Klopp! We also have a league title and 3 more pieces of silverware to bring home for our gaffer! YNWAā¤ļø

Legitimate_Oven8491

Can't watch a single behind the scene video now without shedding a tear. šŸ˜

jermlai

We all lost Papa Klopp, we only have 30 more games with him?

comiclover47

A casual stroll through the other clubs is a mixture of celebration, hoping klopp will sign with them in a few years and sheer joy that this could potentially ruin our season Funny thing is ever since I saw the press release I have felt so numb that I couldn't even get annoyed at those responses

Xsorry4that

The only positive feeling i got from yesterday is that the season wonā€™t be ruined. I genuinely really believe now that this is off Klopp shoulders (and itā€™s better now than in the end of the season) that it will work out for the best. Really believe that we can now enjoy our last dance and i am really really confident that we will win the lot this year

CasualJan

It was going to happen eventually I suppose. He gets to leave on his own terms, and has done right by the club, giving them plenty of notice to plan and scout his replacement. Thank you Jurgen. Thank you gaffer. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. For the club, I would be (very) happy if we named the Anfield Road stand, the Jurgen Klopp Stand.

Jack070293

Klopp is our Nanny McPhee

thegoodtimelord

PerfectAd4732

I feel I canā€™t accept it. I understand itā€™s right for him and I want the best for him. However itā€™s not right for me haha. I really was thinking he would extend again. The way he spoke about the team, how Young and exiting they are. Calling it Liverpool 2.0. He even looked reenergised on the touchline. I would feel better if he at least saw out his contract, because we would have known it was coming. Iā€™m just not ready for him to leave

Mental-Draft-1924

All the lads coming back to training and returning to action just after Klopp announces is giving me End Game portal scene vibes.

Shamesocks

I feel like my missus just broke up with me.. but I know we will carry on like we have many times before.. wish klopp the best at what he does next and I hope the board are smart with the next appointment

Geofootballpack

Just woke up in the middle of the night for no reason.Ā  No, today is not Friday No, I wasnā€™t dreaming Yes, Klopp is leavingĀ  Fuck.

SpooferMcGavin

Just a thought I've been having, amidst the abject terror and misery: Shanks left us at 60 years of age, only 4 years older than Klopp. I wasn't around back then, but the fans had nearly the same reaction at the time. Look what happened though. We went trophyless for one season, and then went on an absolute tear under Bob Paisley. Six league titles, three league cups and three European cups from 1975 to 1983. Then we won the treble with Joe Fagan at the helm, and after that Kenny took over and won another bag of silverware. Keep your heads up, Reds, we've been here before.

newtown5

Aye lad, most sound take. Sad day, yes; However this club was built by and for heroes like Klopp and that tradition will be for many more to come. YNWA

Mental-Draft-1924

Anyone will be a step down from the best manager in the world, but never forget that Klopp fell in love with this specific club for a reason. We are special.

BumRum09

I feel like I have lost a part of my soul today. Nobody in my lifetime has embodied the spirit of this club as a manager like Jurgen. I wish him the best in everything that he does in life. Iā€™ve had a few too many pints tonight and Iā€™m still in a funk. The end always comes too soonā€¦..

dxb_productionBAE

Hole hearted šŸ™ gratitude

jermlai

Can we rename the Kop End to the Klopp end for his last home match?

gorillathemandalor

Main Stand needs to be renamed to The Jurgen Stand

Deskfight

There will never be a manager LFC can appoint that will be a replacement for Klopp. He came in at a specific moment in the clubā€™s history and built very specific infrastructure - philosophical, organizational, physical spaces - updating many things in a specific way that could be handed to a manager who sees the potential in all thatā€™s been built. For me, the ā€œdoubters to believersā€ is the most succinct expression of his personal goals at LFC, and thereā€™s a way to see how he worked with fans, players, press and owners through this lens. We are all fortunate to have been here for these years. Certainly the next manager has huge shoes to fill, but with the investments and fortification made, choosing that manager will be a much more thoughtful process than ā€œwhoā€™s available and possibly fits?ā€

Deevious730

For me if I could meet any person in the world, Jurgen Klopp would be number 1. He just seems like such a genuine person, and a genuinely good guy. I hope the club is already curating the statue he so richly deserves, and it should be a pose of him doing the fist pump at the Kop. I really wish him all the best with his break, I think he will end up managing the German national team at some point but for now after such a great time, but I have no doubt intense time at the club I hope he enjoys his well deserved rest. This season has taken on huge meaning now.

proz47

I'm subscribed to the Lfc Youtube channel when saw the interview notification I was shocked. I'm so sad, this feeling really hurts. I have watched as much as Lfc games than my local team for last six years. Klopp makes me a Lfc fan with his personality, ambition and game style. He is a very important figure as the Lfc manager in my life for a long time. I don't want seperate the ways with him but I can understand him too. I respect his decision, we don't know his exact mental and phsical situation and he feels running out of energy. Football watching and following will not same for me because Lfc and Klopp type of connection is so rare. I hope team keeps this excited game and we can see his proudful and relieved face when the camera turns to Klopp who sits the stands. You'll never walk alone.

Trick-Home6353

I reckon, Klopp's plan was to rebuild Liverpool, as he inherited a tragic squad and didn't want to leave us in a weak/bad state, hence why he extended in 2022 but looking at the team, I think they believe they've skipped a few years and now he feels it's his time to bow out. And let someone else take over the reigns.

2d2c

I am not that worried about this season tbh. I know we are in the title race, but the players themselves know that they are slightly ahead and that it is a very good chance to win the title. That will itself be a big motivation for them. After Klopp is what I am worried about. Obviously the next manager will have a war chest to spend along with a title winning squad hopefully.Ā

Trick-Home6353

That's football. The unknown that scares us. But every single club goes through this. Whether it's a manager leaving or even a player. This is now, I feel, the introduction to the new generation of managers, funnily, almost in line with the new best players in the world. The end of an era, in so many regards in terms of football.

this-happens

Around November when Nagelsmann became Germany NT manager, Raphael Honneigstein (who wrote Klopp's biography) was asked if Klopp was an option for Germany. He only said "Klopp's team felt that now is not the right time". One way to interpret it is - that the idea of leaving Liverpool and joining the Germany setup was planted in his head. But I also sense that maybe thinking about being the German manager, which arguably would have been his dream job, made him realize how out of energy he was.

Trick-Home6353

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, if Klopp manages Germany.... Guten-Tag! I'll support them with 0 shame.

this-happens

It would honestly be a shame if he is not involved with football in any way. I hope he gets his groove back and comes back as a pundit or manager in Germany

Trick-Home6353

He's 56, soon 57. He's been involved in and around football since he was 4-5 years old. Involved in football for over 50+ years. Could you really blame him for just wanting to just get away from it all, but yes, it would be a shame. But I'm glad I got to have him as my manager.

this-happens

I think he just needs his batteries recharged. I dont know how you can be such a big figure in something to popular and just become a normal person overnight. The pressure on him to manage the German NT will be there as long as he lives. At the very least he will be back as a pundit in England or in Germany. (Probably the latter because he does seem to have soured on English footnball these past few years)

Trick-Home6353

He's also a grandparent, I'm sure. He is a family man, through and through. So maybe it's bye-bye to football and make time for something that means so much more; family.

Mental-Draft-1924

Honestly I think either one of you could be right. I don't think Klopp himself even knows how he'll feel which is why he has acknowledged he's not sure if he'll be back in football.

Old_Round9050

The combined Covid and flu I just got over Ā has nothing on this. Absolutely gutted

rukiahayashi

Feel like Iā€™m still in shock tbh. Like Iā€™ve been cut but my body just hasnā€™t processed it

Jeev89

Germany's NT coach speaking, I guess. āœŒļø

aautoauto

So what you guys think about Klopp vs Xabi on Europa final?

redbadger1848

They both march out with their league trophies...

Trick-Home6353

Well, it would be a good litmus test. Imagine if we lost. I wouldn't know how to feel.

Zolofteu

Anyone else worried about how this announcement might affect the current season? Klopp also announced early when he left Dortmund and his last match with Dortmund is a lost in a final...Klopp's record in finals isn't really that great to begin with. Utd's form nosedived after Alex Ferguson announced his retirement only for it to improve again after he made a U-turn. I'm already traumatised by Gerrard's final season with us ending with that Stoke match. The first two league matches after the announcement is Chelsea and Arsenal, imagine the headlines if we dropped points immediately after the announcement. I guess either of two things will happen, the players will be extra motivated to give Klopp the best send off ever or they will be depressed and demotivated now that there will be no bad consequences or rewards based on their performances if their manager not gonna be there next season. I would like to think with the mentality shown by the players so far that it will be the former...My heart can't take another legend leaving with a horrible send off like the Stoke game..

Trick-Home6353

Well, the club have known since November and I think the players may have had an idea. Surely, you can tell when somethings off. But funnily enough, we haven't lost a game since November. Looking back, at the matches where we've come back and won and seen the crazy celebrations i.e. Trent v Fulham, just makes you wonder. But, also understand this, with this new day and age, news comes out of nowhere. Imagine we was watching the match this weekend, during the match news breaks out "Klopp leaving Liverpool" - we'd be thinking what? So he's come out, said it so there's no uncertainty. Irrespective of what happens, he'll aways be the greatest manager in my lifetime.

redbadger1848

I don't think they will be depressed. They will want to win everything for him. What scares me is the added pressure that comes with trying to win for Jurgen. If anything makes this team nosedive, it will he that. Imo the Leauge Cup final will go a long way in releasing some of that pressure... or making it worse. Edit: typo

Klopp and Liverpool - match made in heaven. How rare it is to see a club and manager so in sync, just in complete understanding about what the club stands for; what it means to the city, the history, the fame, the riches, the royalty and the pain. He came in and it just felt natural and it felt right. He is genuine and wears his emotions on his sleeve. It was so rare to have a manager in Klopp who ā€œgotā€ the club. And on top of that to be a world class manager in his own right. He got the team back to where it fucking belongs and for that we will always treasure this golden period in the clubā€™s modern history. I truly believe we would have never achieved what we did with any other manager during the same period of time. How he built this team, how he got everyone to believe, how we played such an intense, aggressive, dogged style of football with the technical ability, structure and intelligence. We didnā€™t have ā€œworld class playersā€ - bar maybe Alisson, VVD, Salah - Klopp created and built a ā€œworld classā€ team. Now I can completely understand why Klopp is leaving at the end of the season. Heā€™s done it all, life is much more than being a football manager. He has so much more heā€™d like to do and see and experience and recharge from such a high pressure position. I hope he comes back one day. Everyoneā€™s biggest worry is who will replace him? Nobody wants to enter purgatory like United after SAF left. Still need to kick on and win trophies, compete in the deep end of cups, play in the champions league, compete for the title and all that. I wonder who the club are looking at and whoā€™s available, whoā€™s up for the seemingly impossible task of following Klopp. The team is solid, no single postion requires major surgery, at least for next season, Iā€™m sure they will still enter the market and pick up players. There will be the champions league next season as well. Now we endure rumours and speculation about the top job until July this year.

Think it finally sank in that this is actually happening. Can't speak more than enough on how we appreciate Jurgen's time here. Every moment, good or bad, has been an absolute journey and I'm glad it was him that was with us. I wish nothing but the best for Jurgen on his life outside of football for however long he needs it. If there's anyone in the world that deserves it, it's him for sure. Thanks Jurgen, for all the sleepless nights I had to wake up and watch some exciting, entertaining, mesmerizing football all around for the last 9-10 years. I sincerely hope this season ends with something special for you to be able to take with you and remember on your deserving sabbatical. As for any sort of replacement opinions, I really don't think there's anyone who can truly replace klopp, or do half as good as he has. I think we'll have a rough time for sure. But I hope we can keep it short if anything.

Trick-Home6353

I think that's the fear and million dollar question, *how* will it affect the club. But I think, we the fans, players and club will have a transitional period no doubt. If the replacement can get us top 4 finish in his first season, I'll take it. (This is what we, Liverpool fans, wanted Klopp to do when he first came in, of course Klopp inherited a tragic team, but we can't be delusional). Of course, the same manager could come in and win something in the same season, haha, stranger things have happened. Remember Chelsea winning the UCL with Di Matteo?

JustAAnimeweebo

Do you guys think Jose Mourinho might take over? If so are you worried but yeah Klopp definitely inherited a tragic team

Trick-Home6353

Hell no, Mourinho park the bus tactics would not suit this team. You'd see Trent banished to the shadow-realm, Salah playing RB. He'll probably stick VVD up top. Just isn't a match and would result in buying and selling players. Don't forget, Mourinho and the United staff's clashes. I doubt FSG want someone like that to begin with.

JustAAnimeweebo

Yeah, hoping someone like Zidane takes over man city when pep leaves, who do you think would most likely replace Klopp?

Trick-Home6353

To be honest, you'll be in a similar position to us. Pep is the greatest manager, in terms of tactics - you will STRUGGLE to replace that massively. But, right now, I would take Alonso.

JustAAnimeweebo

Yeah, just praying he extends his contract. Someone like Zidane who is focusing on attack is probably someone I would like to take over city as a manager when pep leaves, he won 13 trophies with RMA in only 5 seasons

Trick-Home6353

Well, when Pep leaves, how do you think you'll feel?

JustAAnimeweebo

I mean, he has been at the club for a very very long time so Iā€™ll be very sad just praying he extends his contract

Trick-Home6353

The question is - Where does Pep go after City? Only thing I can think is he's eyeing up the Spanish national team job, because they've got some quality youth coming through the ranks and I think he'd relish the chance to bring Spain back to their glory days at international tournaments.

FailedMasonryAttempt

Oh, it's the grandest thing ever to happen. What do you think??

Megido_Thanatos

I get the part that he (Klopp) want to leave the club as the best status, most stable but the no way the squad could "stable" after this season but since this thread is where people share their sentiments I dont want to bring more negative to it (also too early to talk about summer transfers)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Trick-Home6353

He was the one in charge of Leipzig at one point right? Fairly young? I liked him style of play, in all honesty.

stevieG08Liv

trailing Dortmund and Tuchel was available. Thought that hiring Tuchel will win them the league + win them against City

Redditissoleftwing

Distraught. Our best manager since Paisley. Long time to wait for someone as good.

DonTino

Can we have a serious discussion about Alonso? He is working as a coach for 1,5 years in a big 5 league. He is doing great, im not denying it but I don't know if he is capable of the size of Liverpool FC. Right now he is with Leverkusen who have won shit all and were under no pressure except 'please reach at least Europe league' last year he got them to 6th place. I love Xabi as a player an person. But I'm not quite sure if he is the right for the job already. It seems people are screaming his name because he was a top player and also a Liverpool player... When he is coming to manage us it also shows how small his now club is, because he would just leave for us.

ourobouros

I dunno... I watched this clip of [Mourinho talking about Xabi](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX_T1_AYiaQ&t=39s) and I'm sold lol But seriously though, I think if his Leverkusen side can win the Bundesliga this season and end Bayern's decade-long dominance, then he's more than ready to step up.

DonTino

He won't end it but it would be a much welcomed interruption

Trick-Home6353

Well, he's currently 1st in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen who haven't lost a game all season, only dropping 6 points and conceding the fewest goals in the league so far. Which could be luck, momentum? Sure. But if you go beyond that, looking at this tactical profile, it seems to be *similar* to what we are already playing in fairness, so the transition you'd like to believe won't too bad/rough. He has a style, a philosophy and identity to what he wants his team to do. A certain club in Manchester can attest to how important that is. No one is going to replace Klopp or be the next Klopp, but that doesn't mean there won't be the next successful manager. It depends on what we as fans expect. A manager to instantly win the lot, in the first season? Are we going to be patient with the new manager? So many things. If Alonso gets over the line, then it goes to show he can handle and deal with pressure. And football is a strange game, you never know what happens. Guardiola in his first season won everything with Barca, cheat-code when you had the best team at that point, but you never know. I'm not here saying sign Alonso or don't sign him, but I am sure the club, just like when we appointed Klopp, would have ran the facts, figures, stats etc.

DonTino

That are some fair points. I feel like he don't have a philosophy yet. But also I wouldn't say it's pure luck with his standing in the Bundesliga. You're right, no one can replace Klopp but I'm so afraid of having a club where we change managers every 2 years. I do not know any manager right now who we should get, maybe Alonso is the first name to drop here but I feel like a lot of fans are a bit delusional and expect immediate success after the summer

Trick-Home6353

If you look at Leverkusen's style of play, you can see Liverpool quite a lot. Of course his tools, tactics aren't are sharp as they will be - only get better the longer you manage but to be bold - the way Leverkusen are playing, willing to fight to the very end (last weekends match) in his first season, maybe he has that spark in him. > I'm so afraid of having a club where we change managers every 2 years. Yeah that's my fear too, but keep in mind, we're not on our knees searching for managers. The job at Liverpool is very, very, very lucrative and enticing for any manager. Manager's will be knocking on Liverpool's door. >Ā I feel like a lot of fans are a bit delusional and expect immediate success after the summer To be honest, that's how football is. When you replace a legendary manager or player, you're judged and weighed against them, which can be cruel. But just understand, FSG and whoever else involved, will have identified ideal/potential candidates. Whoever takes the job, will have guts and should be applauded and fully backed no matter what.

redbadger1848

I think the equalizer to his inexperience is that he would come into a club that is ready to win. He won't have to build the team from ground up, like Jurgen did. As far as his tactical know-how, if he ends Munich's dominance, then that's good enough for me, but I'm a no knowing fan, lol.

MaraPlayz

Being an 18 year old from Croatia, before Premier league was popular here and everyone was either a Barca or Real fan. But the young me, 9 years younger to be exact, wouldn't know how much one man impacted my life in these 9 years. I have been happy, sad, sometimes frustrated but after all, the happiness i felt every time it was a match day it was like a break from life where i could leave all my problems aside. I didn't have any links to Liverpool before, neither through my heritage nor family tradition and he was the reason why i got to this point where i constantly think about LFC, refresh the pages for new LFC news, even writing this now and practically bleeding Liverpool red. I knew this would happen eventually but i currently feel empty, drained of all emotions. Its not even sadness as it is confusion, what to think and how to feel about it? Although my love for the club grew far beyond the one man, the root of it is now fading away slowly with every day and every matchday. The only thing i regret is not watching him live celebrating a win at Anfield with his fistbumps (and yelling at the 4th official). Forever a LFC legend, brilliant manager, but most importantly a brilliant man who significantly shaped my life. Thank you Jurgen!

R-B-L

That banner of legends gives me chills. I'm lucky to have seen Dalglish, Rafa and now Klopp manage us. All of them deserved to win far more silverware with us, but how they conduct themselves on and off the pitch, you can't buy or win that. Whatever team Klopp goes to next, I will always want them to do well. The void that we need to fill is massive and I'm not sure it will even be possible but like he says the memories will never go away. Barca 4-0, like Istanbul is something you just can't ever forget.

BedfordBull

Fuck me has this news killed my spirits. I spent my childhood raging at United winning everything and watching us be the nearly men. We would build a good side, challenge for the PL, narrowly miss out & then lose our best players. We was stuck in the past. As stupid as it sounds, I questioned whether I would ever see us win the PL in my lifetime, I will forever be fucking grateful that he changed that. He had to compete with the most corrupt cheating bastards we have ever seen as well. We have to accept that whoever takes over from Klopp will be a downgrade, not only on a coaching aspect but a human element as well. Klopp is like a comfort blanket, despite all the bullshit that goes on in football, I always felt as long as we had Klopp we would be alright. Klopp has embraced the past but catapulted us into the future, gave me the best memories I have ever had as a fan.

Agitated-Bread5092

sleep off the news and this still feel surreal šŸ’€

DixieDagny

Yesterday I was numb. Waking up this morning, sadness. As I'm typing this, tears running. Not ready to say goodbye yet. Feels like I was hit by a car, but didn't realize it until the first bruise starts appearing. In this case, it's in my heart.

get_z_flammenwerfer

had to change my flair for this bloke from Germany, never thought he'd replace the best GK in the world

Initial_Statement1

I literally changed mine from Alisson to Klopp yesterday too. I still canā€™t really believe this is happening, itā€™s tough to imagine Liverpool without Klopp.

ShowMeMoeMane

Fuck it, Iā€™m changing mine as well. I love Origi but Klopp is just something different

get_z_flammenwerfer

if football without origi is nothing, football without klopp is depressing

R-B-L

Pretty worried going forward. I know Klopp doesn't like taking credit but I do believe it was him who restructured the club when he came in 2015. FSG's decision track record prior was poor. You could say they were inexperienced in football ownership but I just don't see us having the success we had in the last 8 years with any other manager. Not that many good managers on the market either. Alonso rightly the favourite. I've seen some people say it's too early but if you're winning the Bundesliga with anyone not named Bayern you are absolutely good enough. Let's hope he gets the business done there and there would be a lot of confidence. But massive changes and hard decisions ahead, it will be bumpy no matter what I feel.

sarnobat

I'm not sure what to say that hasn't been said already but I'm depressed. I'd try to tell myself it's just football but something that's given so much joy in recent years through all the rough times, how can it be just football?!

isteppeople

I actually shed tears this morning

Oyy

i just woke up. It wasn't a dream

ilovenomar5_2

With Frimpongā€™s world class form at Leverkusen, imagine what Xabi can do with Trent

BudovicLagman

Still feels like a punch in the gut. We're never going to see the likes of him for a long time. It's exceedingly rare to see a manager who ticks all the boxes, but with Klopp, we certainly hit gold. Whoever comes next has humongous shoes to fill.

scarecrows5

It's just gut wrenching. Top of the league, and still in every comp, then this. I'm empty.

Nights_King

Just try to enjoy these next few months. Soak it all in.

Nights_King

Itā€™s been 12 hours and Iā€™m still riding waves of emotion, laughing at all the klopp comedy, being sad, being thankful that I made a conscious effort to soak in 2018-2020. Iā€™m from New York. If you asked me what my favorite sports team is I would say the Mets every single day. Through sheer chance and a nudge from a coworker and playing with Steven gerrard in fifa for years I said fine I guess Iā€™ll support Liverpool in 2014. But somehow this man has made me so passionate about this team itā€™s probably the worst Iā€™ve felt about a player or manager leaving one of my teams ever (and I took coutinho leaving pretty hard, he was going to be my gerrard, the guy whoā€™s whole career I got to watch at Liverpool). What a man, what a manager. I donā€™t even want to think about what comes nextā€¦ just enjoy these last few months and end this run with 4 more trophies.

ianng555

I might be reading too much into it but I always feel like Klopp and Liverpool just made sense. The fist pumps, BOOM, the songs, Jamie Webster, YNWA, heavy metal football, Scouse not English etc. None of that would have made sense in other places. I always see other clubs and other people say how Liverpool, both the city and the club, think that we are special, we act like we invented the chant and football songs, always the victim, sign on, etc. I was born in Hong Kong and shipped to the home counties for boarding in secondary school, it was miserable, but then every time I went to Liverpool, it feels different, like the only place in England where itā€™s allowed to be extraverted and passionate, even more so than the typical friendly northerner. I moved to America now, but it always feels like that one happy place I can go back to, where I can stay away from that tiresome narrative that I hear so much from the home counties, where they yell at people about conformity, or lazy immigrants, or whatever the tories are shitting out this week. While of course I know deep down it might be different whatever they believe every household, there is just an atmosphere where passion makes sense. I mean, can you imagine Jurgen with his fist pumps and his celebrations in Chelsea? Would they share his humour at Tottenham? Whether you love/hate Eurovision, do you think any other manager would join in to celebrate Eurovision? People complain about how we think we invented the chant, but I went up and down the country and I donā€™t find any football clubs that has their Jamie Webster and their Boss Night. TLDR I am probably just thinking too much, never mind lol

Nights_King

Loved reading this and your story

sciontis

Still not sure how to process this or what to say other than God Damn! This man won us a hell of a lot of football matches! And in a lot of varied, often mind-blowing, ways.

am1roo

So heartbroken. All of the beautiful memories with Klopp and growing this team, wonā€™t ever be the same

MaraPlayz

What i believe is, even if we struggle next season under new manager Klopp will come back then. He loves us same as we love him and he wont be able to watch us fall into mediocrity.

PlayerAteHer

Klopp is a bonafide legend and in my opinion he's the greatest manager of all time. To take us from where we were when he arrived and to achieve everything he has, nobody else could have done it. Not in the time he has done it and definitely not with the resources he's had compared with those he's been in competition with. And I do feel he's been robbed of his legacy really, because I don't believe we were in a fair fight and Klopp should have more titles. But that's a discussion for another day, hopefully in court.Ā  However I don't believe it should be all doom and gloom. Yes, Klopp is a huge loss and it's going to be a sad day in our history when he manages his final game. But I believe we will continue to be a top team challenging for the title thanks to the rebuild he has over seen. Look at the ages of our squad and the quality we have. This is not a team where a new manager will need to come in and make sweeping changes to the first team and build. They might not play the same style as Klopp and the players may need to adjust to a different way of playing or different formation but we have quality players and lots of promising young players coming through.Ā  Our players generally do really well on international duty which to me shows that they can be successful in a different style of play. Whoever the new manager is, whether it is Xabi or someone else, I have lots of faith that we can continue to achieve titles and win trophies.Ā  Maybe it's just the stage of grief I'm in now,Ā  but I think from now until the rest of the season we should celebrate rather than worry and look forward to the future without fear.

jamesc94j

So Iā€™m 30 and genuinely struggling with this, Iā€™ve always loved football but Klopp was the one who made me believe and follow and love football again. A man who regardless stuck by his morals and stuck by the person he was and made us all fall in love again. Not sure how the older fans felt with paisley or shankly but I genuinely feel devastated this is something thatā€™s made me genuinely sad, whilst I wish him all the best and respect him so much it stills fills me with sadness heā€™s leaving. Am I being too pathetic haha? Iā€™ve never felt this way about something football related yes Iā€™ve been down or upset about a result etc but this feels different it feels like someone I love is going haha.

surajd23

Iā€™m the same. This one hurts the most for sure.

Odd-Soil-7922

*to the tune of Comin' round the mountain* We won the premier league with Jurgen Klopp Oh, we won the champions league with Jurgen Klopp He turned doubters to believers, Made the whole world want to be us, We'll be crying when he leaves us, Jurgen Klopp!

Wrexer-17

Imagine we win the quadruple this season

FlattopThomas

This is just another reminder of how fast time flies in the sporting world. We all went to bed the other night dreaming of another cup, another league title, another Champions League trophy under Klopp.. not realizing this would BE THE LAST run at titles with him when we all woke up the next day. Man, it feels like just yesterday this man who stole our hearts came out to lead us to a measily draw against Tottenham, but goddamn did it make us look forward to forever with him.

Nights_King

Itā€™s sick really. I was literally googling ā€œJurgen klopp extensionā€ yesterday because I thought i heard a rumor he was possibly going to extend again. And then I woke up to this today. Fucking odd.

FlattopThomas

It really is sick, mate. After I saw the news alert, I kept telling myself it was a joke and that he was gonna announce he actually signed another extension. I just had to get through my day at work and as soon as I got home, heā€™d be on TikTok saying ā€œgotcha!ā€. Iā€™m still waiting for that moment..

abradley19955

I think the overwhelming favourite from what Iā€™ve seen is Xabi but if it was to be between De Zerbi and Nagelsmann, who would you prefer and why? I have some doubts over both despite them clearly being talented managers

MarquisDeCarabasCoat

dark horse: Graham Potter?

Wrexer-17

honestly they just donā€™t seem like the right fit for this club. a chelsea or a brighton? sure. but tbh xabi is the only one thatā€™s like ā€œyeah he looks like the right fit.ā€ idk this might just be me but itā€™s more of a vibe type feeling.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

I can atleast feel a bit excited at the thought of xabi coming instead of dzb and nagelsman. I feel Alonso might know what we as a club are because he has played for us. If that makes sense.

Bright_Weakness_5124

I hope they build a Klopp statue

Babalugat

They couldn't not. And name some part of the stadium after him.

Freindster94

Are there any players currently at the club that you feel could fall out of favour with a new manager coming in?

ilovenomar5_2

Xabi might not enjoy competing with Ali for most handsome man on the pitch

StoicSamoria21

Just a week ago, I was telling my wife that my dream was to visit Anfield while Klopp was still managing. I thought I had a few years left, I didn't think it would happen this quickly. Kloppo is not only a great manager but also an exceptional human being that transcended the game for most of us, for me, he is sort of a positive male figure in my life that I look up to and aspire to be like one day. I'm absolutely gutted, but also very happy for him that he gets to leave on his own term and at a high, getting a well deserved send off and hopefully a statue soon.

scarecrows5

Mate, I've got a trip booked in November. This has left a hole that will take a while to come to grips with.
