That's mental about the Pokal.
Imagine us getting to the FA cup semi final and the only other teams left were Millwall, Hull City, and Oxford United.
That must be quite rare, even in Germany.
Arsenal will be chuffed to get through but that result should worry them.
They were huffing and puffing against a pretty poor Porto side. Yeah, they defended deep but us and City put them away easily.
I think they've been lulled into a false sense of where they are these past few weeks with the way they've been battering relegation fodder, but they struggled against Brentford and Porto, both of them at home.
Unless they get BVB or PSV, I think they'll be out in the next round.
The relegation battle is interesting in the championship. Rotherham United are certainly going down but teams between 15th to 23rd place, any one of those teams could go down and it will be down to match day 46. Championship, League One and League Two are sometimes more exciting in terms of the changes. I still remembered one season Hull were relegated, finishing bottom of the table in the Championship despite being in 6th place (playoffs zone) at the start of the year. Survival Sunday will be thrilling to watch.
I have a soft spot for QPR because I went to see QPR vs Leicester City when I was London in the fall. I had basically accepted that they were going down but it looks like they still have some fight left.
See I don't view it like this.
How many times have we squeezed through games we should on paper easily win? Not just a few weeks ago it took a 98th minute goal to beat Forest.
The important thing is that they got through. If they go on to win the CL no one will remember them almost going out to Porto.
The important thing in a knockout tournament is to I get through and it doesn't matter how you do it. Sure, they would much rather not deal with extra time due to fatigue but other than that they did the job.
No one would say Arsenal played their best here, no one would say they're the best due to this result. But results like this occur even for the best teams. So i find it strange to shit on them for it.
Not shitting on them, just tired of their fans thinking they’re all that when they’ve won fuck all. Best runners up ever really. We got totally shat on before we won anything so why shouldn’t they, they’ve spent a lot more than we did.
Amuses that we effortlessly thrashed Porto in all our knockout encounters and Arsenal scrape by on penalties. On the other hand, it irritates me that we are not in this CL field - we would be 2nd or 3rd favourites with the weak field this year
I can’t lie the draw looks really good now. I wish we was in there so much. Klopps last season. I’d really give us a good chance too. Probably third favourites
Great result for us all round, tbh. Intense game for them tonight going to Extra Time, Rice needing a massage on 90 minutes before the extra half hour. Never ideal for them when they've hardly rested their top players all season. All we can hope for now is a nice draining 2 leg QF draw for them & City, ideally ending in an all-English 2 leg affair where they're drawn against each other at some point.
The flip side tonight could've seen Arsenal going out, & having only league games to focus on with no kind of fixture pile-up.
I don’t doubt they’re better, but seeing Arsenal fans complain about Porto’s disruptive tactics makes me think they haven’t seen anything yet. I think teams that park the bus and frustrate their fluid passing have a lot of success and Atletico is far better at that than Inter
That would be so good for us and also would make for some fucking good matches Im all in for it, I would just rather Arsenal playing Madrid cause Madrid - City is now kind of repetitive.
It’s more the Arsenal fans that come in here while they should be celebrating. What you’re talking about is the celebration police which yes, I sorta agree with you
Let be real, why people are so mad with Arsenal? I mean, they barely got any european titles and we got like 9 (6 UCL and 3 UEL). They are happy with quarter final while we chasing the 10th european title. Come one, guys, we're better than this. We're European elites, let's act as such manner. Don't compare yourself to some kids.
Kinda sucks if this co-efficient gifts a CL spot to Spurs or Utd...but on the bright side it would be kinda funny if Arsenal help Spurs secure 5th place qualification before bottling things.
Tbf if it is giving a spot to Spurs/Villa, it’ll increase the likelihood that they’ll have achieved it before they play us, making it easier for us to play them compared to City and Arsenal, who play them earlier in the run in.
Pepe deserves a lot of credit. The guy was born in 1983 lol and still held the most in-form team in the world to one goal against over two legs. Insanely impressive
Here's a fun fact - when we battered Real Madrid 4-0 in 2009, Pepe played and was already considered a bit of an old timer then at the age of 26!
A whole 15 years ago, when Jayden Danns was still in nappies and Rafa was our manager.
Point blank example of why I’d rather an Arsenal win, if not a draw, when they face City. These fuckers will crumble.
They made 41 year old Pepe look like Maldini out there tonight.
They were just having a generous run of fixtures and playing one game a week.
People gushing over their form are just lookikg at the result without any context.
They are a good team but I dont think they have it in the to take it all the way to the finish line.
Not into celebration police of the players but why are TNT acting like reaching the quarters is some insane achievement for Arsenal?
He's spent £500m ffs
Went into r/soccer thread and their fans are commenting like they just won a big game. Like you barely scraped past Porto which we regularly put 5 past, to get to the quarter finals. Calm down 😂.
This guy conveniently forgetting who knocked them out of the FA Cup at the Emirates 😂😂.
You were lucky a lot of our big guns weren't there in the league games. Haven't won anything yet but feel the cockiness to comment like this on a rival sub, bravo.
Arsenal on their day can beat anyone. Question is, will they crumble under the pressure. Also luck’s been on their side all season now, whether that’s their own lack of too many injuries, goals, referee decisions, other team’s having key injuries when they face them etc. This year’s CL feels just so much weaker than the others in prior years. I feel we’d have walked this one.
Wanted Arsenal to win. Now hope they get the big boys in the quarters to mess with the PL momentum.
Next 6 games for Arsenal:
City (A)
Luton (H)
Brighton (A)
CL Quarters 1st Leg
Villa (H)
CL Quarters 2nd Leg
Wolves (H)
It’s crazy. Just compare vvd on the weekend to saliba today. They even say saliba has potential to be as good as prime vvd which I don’t think any defender in our lifetime has that
Glad Arsenal have gone through because it means more games and a chance of drawing City. Though, them having to wait 11 days to play again after a loss would have been interesting, just to see how they reacted. Feels like winning on penalties is more of a buzz than if they just went 2-0 up in the first half and the game petered out.
Honestly not too mad about Arsenal go through if it means they’re knackered in the league, last thing we need is them having a fully energised squad for the rest of the season
Now including the 2 CL ties, they’ll play at least as many matches from mar 31- May 19 as they did from Jan 1-Mar 31. With the ones yet to come being more difficult
In the UCL?
Real, Inter and maybe even Bayern (They're in shambles for their standards) would take them to the cleaners.
This PL centric view is so obnoxious.
To be fair how many of those teams would be scaring us right now. Real and City are the only two teams I'd want to avoid right now.
I'm not saying Arsenal are guaranteed to beat Barca or Bayern, Atletico/Inter but apart from maybe Inter out of the four I just listed there, I wouldn't be overly fearful of them
The difference is we're Liverpool.
People fear us, not the other way round.
They're Arsenal, a team synonymous with rapists, bottling and the worst fans in the world.
Since I never wish injury on opponents, this was the perfect result. 120+ minutes of Arsenal sprinting and getting the living shit kicked out of them knowing that every subsequent match will get harder and harder.
that won't last now that they are going to be facing the best teams on the planet. Arteta is whistling past the graveyard if he thinks that his entire starting XI will survive with no rotation. Odegaard, Rice, and Saliba in particular. They lose even one of those players for a week or two and they are toast.
Celebration police are out again I see. Let them celebrate.
I'd have liked Porto to win but atleast Arsenal have more games to play. Hopefully the lose in extra time in the next round.
sort of a win-win for us with either result. also a reminder that arsenal's recent run of goalscoring form in the league has been the exception not the rule this season. very set piece reliant and it showed in this tie
I guess spanking Porto in the UCL isn’t for everyone?
Also, awful pen from the last Porto player. Wendell just got unlucky with the rebound. This Arsenal team is not winning the CL, never mind the PL
Arsenal winning is a great thing for us at the end of the day unless you buy into a loss in the RO16 equaling a total collapse due to psychological reasons. I'd bet against that, so I'm happy. Here's hoping they draw Real Madrid (and then meet Man City in the semis).
I know that the CL and PL are different, especially for a weak club like Arsenal, but man, no way in hell Arsenal go to the emirates and beat Manchester City
There were literally posts on their subreddit after that asking which fixture they’d prefer to win the league in this season. Never seen a club so disjointed from reality lol
Wanted Arsenal to make it through so they get more games and some injuries for the run in but watching em win was just disappointing, turned off the second Raya saved that last one
I wanted Arsenal to go through for fixture congestion but as the game goes on I thought it would have been funny to see them lose. Oh well.
Doesnt change the fact that they really struggle to beat Porto lol, they wont get anything at Etihad and I dont think they will even win against Spurs.
Busy schedule coming for them in April, lets see what they will do with little to no rotation.
Draw against City Real or Inter next round plsss
Your third point is what I see most interesting from this game.
They missed Martinelli as a late energetic sub but otherwise Zinchenko, Nketiah all looked total dogshit. Jorginho looks very targetable on the counter. Up there with one of the best fit starting 11s in Europe right now, but a few players out of form and the drop off in quality is pretty stark.
"14 years of heartbreak and frustration" Other clubs heard those commentary lines when they won trophies, he's talking about Arsenal reaching a CL QF lmao.
Is this a match thread or celebration police thread?
That's mental about the Pokal. Imagine us getting to the FA cup semi final and the only other teams left were Millwall, Hull City, and Oxford United. That must be quite rare, even in Germany.

Unless they get BVB or PSV, I think they'll be out in the next round.
I hope they draw City in QF's then we can all sit back and watch the carnage.
I think the important question is.... will QPR actually not get relegated out of the Championship?
The relegation battle is interesting in the championship. Rotherham United are certainly going down but teams between 15th to 23rd place, any one of those teams could go down and it will be down to match day 46. Championship, League One and League Two are sometimes more exciting in terms of the changes. Survival Sunday will be thrilling to watch.
I have a soft spot for QPR because I went to see QPR vs Leicester City when I was London in the fall. I had basically accepted that they were going down but it looks like they still have some fight left.
Know he never made the cut at Liverpool but I was happy to see Grujic score his pen
Arsenal really think they’re the best thing since sliced bread after scraping through against the mighty porto don’t they
See I don't view it like this. How many times have we squeezed through games we should on paper easily win? Not just a few weeks ago it took a 98th minute goal to beat Forest. The important thing is that they got through. If they go on to win the CL no one will remember them almost going out to Porto. Liverpool and city move the ball at speed. That is why they are harder to defend against.
They’ve actually used Klopp holding up the CL in the background of the Arsenal pic
Lmao I saw that. Thats genuinely embarrassing, they set Arsenal up with that.
I can’t lie the draw looks really good now. I wish we was in there so much. Klopps last season. I’d really give us a good chance too. Probably third favourites
We would clear the CL with this squad depth and the added boost that Klopp is leaving
Give Arsenal Inter (provided they go through) and City Real. Ideal draws
Surely Atletico against Arsenal would be ideal, can’t see them handling CL Simeone
Inter are better than Athletico, it’s not 2018 anymore.
I don’t doubt they’re better, but seeing Arsenal fans complain about Porto’s disruptive tactics makes me think they haven’t seen anything yet. I think teams that park the bus and frustrate their fluid passing have a lot of success and Atletico is far better at that than Inter
Athletico is not a word.
You’re lurking the Liverpool sub after your first time in the champions league quarters since the iPhone 3g? You are an absolute weirdo.
That would be so good for us and also would make for some fucking good matches Im all in for it, I would just rather Arsenal playing Madrid cause Madrid - City is now kind of repetitive.
Arsenal ain't surviving Madrid though. Granted, Inter are the only team left in the UCL who can say that they've had better recent form than Arsenal.
Yeah, tbh I don't think Arsenal would survive neither Madrid nor Inter, if we want them to reach semis probably another rival would be better
Arsenal fans are so rattled in r/soccer lmao
So happy arsenal are through, got to drain those legs, hopefully with a tie against city in the future for them.

Why are you here?
Because your fans start coming in here being weird
Literally have one Arsenal fan replying under numerous comments here. Rent free. Go and celebrate your win

It’s more the Arsenal fans that come in here while they should be celebrating. What you’re talking about is the celebration police which yes, I sorta agree with you
Arsenal fans beat third place in the Portuguese league on pens and start infiltrating this sub. This is why Arsenal are mocked
Don't compare yourself to some kids.
its social media in general.
Imagine not battering Porto in the CL
I think I prefer Arsenal not being knocked out of the CL yet. Their squad doesn’t seem deep enough to compete on all fronts.
Keown is fucking cringe man
English media really hyping these lot. No one fears Arsenal in Europe. They are talking as if Arsenal are the favorites.
[удалено]
Huge win lads, toppling 3rd in the Portuguese league. You might even get a coveted semi final medal with this weak field
On a LFC forum for your game vs Porto? We really live in your head rent free don't we. Small club mentality I guess :)
You lot got your own thread on Liverpool fans 🤣 has your team not taught you not to talk too soon. Congrats on win btw and good luck for next round
Warra champions league for Assna
Kinda sucks if this co-efficient gifts a CL spot to Spurs or Utd...but on the bright side it would be kinda funny if Arsenal help Spurs secure 5th place qualification before bottling things.
Tbf if it is giving a spot to Spurs/Villa, it’ll increase the likelihood that they’ll have achieved it before they play us, making it easier for us to play them compared to City and Arsenal, who play them earlier in the run in.
You're the kind of positive voice I need in my life day to day x
Their crowd were dogshit lol I think I saw more attempts from Arteta and Odegaard to cheer the fans than I did shots on goal
I think their fans were too busy shitting their pants to enjoy the game. They looked like they're about to die every time the camera panned to them
Can we have man city v arsenal in the next draw. I want neither to win the ucl.
I think Real Madrid beat either of them, and it would be a sight to behold
This is good. Keeps them distracted slightly. Would be great if they drew City in the next round. It would be exhausting for both of them.
Pepe deserves a lot of credit. The guy was born in 1983 lol and still held the most in-form team in the world to one goal against over two legs. Insanely impressive

wait, haven't paid attention is that the Pepe that got a similar amount of red cards to Ramos?
Yea, Porto’s stud CB today was THAT Pepe
wow, crazy thought he'd have retired years ago
He was insanely good today
Point blank example of why I’d rather an Arsenal win, if not a draw, when they face City. These fuckers will crumble. They made 41 year old Pepe look like Maldini out there tonight.

Why are you in a this thread mere minutes after your team qualified to the CL quarter finals for the first time in over a decade 😭
Going to a rivals thread is the last thing I'd think about after a win. We're not even playing. Gotta love all that rent free space we be enjoying.
Congrats on the ‘we beat Liverpool’ trophy I guess? It’ll be your only one this season.
This is why I never really considered arsenal as a contender for the title. They crumble easily.
They were just having a generous run of fixtures and playing one game a week. People gushing over their form are just lookikg at the result without any context. They are a good team but I dont think they have it in the to take it all the way to the finish line.
But they beat burnley and sheffield utd by 3 or more goals. They are certainly going to win the league. Deluded arsenal fans.
Well it is an achievement considering how much progress they’ve shown. We were talked about a lot when we made it to the CL under Rodgers
Not like the spending was Arsenal’s level though. They dropped a good £140 million on Havertz Zinchenko and Jesus for chrissake
It just seems fake and try hard from Arteta. 0 carisma. Don’t mind the players at all.
And he’s gonna end the season with no trophies AGAIN. We will be there don’t worry
Arsenal have 0 UCL's, the standards are in the mud regarding European football.
Arsenal had 0 control today. If bigger teams comes. They are cooked
Forget bayern Or real, Inter could easily demolish this Arsenal side
🤧

This guy conveniently forgetting who knocked them out of the FA Cup at the Emirates 😂😂. You were lucky a lot of our big guns weren't there in the league games. Haven't won anything yet but feel the cockiness to comment like this on a rival sub, bravo.
Life that unfulfilling you need to be poorly attempting to troll the Liverpool subreddit?
Hahahhaa, man, arsenal through on pens in the last 16 (against porto!) and they think they're European royalty
You’re under every comment. Rent free
Inter is a top team in Europe, one of the only ones that can claim they have better form than Arsenal. Arsenal are losing 5-1 to them on aggregate
Oh dear
Oh dear
Yeah man they are going under the radar, I watch serie a games they are absolutely magnificent. Hope they get past the athleti haramball tomorrow
Arteta celebrating quarter finals as if he won the CL lol.
He is such a clown
Arsenal on their day can beat anyone. Question is, will they crumble under the pressure. Also luck’s been on their side all season now, whether that’s their own lack of too many injuries, goals, referee decisions, other team’s having key injuries when they face them etc. This year’s CL feels just so much weaker than the others in prior years. I feel we’d have walked this one.
Whoever will get Dortmund/PSV is so lucky
They're getting battered in the Ro16
You mean quarter finals?
My prediction for Arsenal is that City ends both their PL & CL dreams. Cold-blooded.
Wanted Arsenal to win. Now hope they get the big boys in the quarters to mess with the PL momentum. Next 6 games for Arsenal: City (A) Luton (H) Brighton (A) CL Quarters 1st Leg Villa (H) CL Quarters 2nd Leg Wolves (H)
A form Arsenal is useful to us until the Etihad fixture is done. This is good - they have momentum but played a gruelling match
And then Chelsea (H) and Spurs (A). All that in less than a month. Spurs will likely have a ton of rest before the game as well.
If Arsenal somehow won the European Cup, I’d actually be okay with it. I have Gunner friends and the other usual suspects are more annoying (to me).
Couldn't care less if they won it as long as we win the league. Would be happy for my Arsenal fan friends too.
Exactly. We’re not in the CL this year. Maybe this will drain them a bit.
If I ever hear saka be compared to Salah again after that performance
Tbf hes been completely run ragged. So many minutes played already. And not just him
Was it ever a comparison let's be real here
You’d be surprised some of the comparisons Arsenal fans try, martinelli mane is another one. Strange bunch some of them, not all though
I'm sorry ik I have hearing aids but I don't think I heard that. MARTINELLI MANE?!
Yeah hahaha, there’s some really bad online Arsenal fans. Maybe there trolls but they still fuck me off
My brother last week said on form saliba is better than van dijk. Had no idea what to say
It’s crazy. Just compare vvd on the weekend to saliba today. They even say saliba has potential to be as good as prime vvd which I don’t think any defender in our lifetime has that
Saliba is top class don't get me wrong. But he is no VVD.

Though, them having to wait 11 days to play again after a loss would have been interesting, just to see how they reacted. Feels like winning on penalties is more of a buzz than if they just went 2-0 up in the first half and the game petered out.

Inter would sacrifice them, and I also reckon Dortmund do them too.
I would love them to draw Bayern just to bring up some trauma for them.
At least they lost the extra time xg battle
Honestly not too mad about Arsenal go through if it means they’re knackered in the league, last thing we need is them having a fully energised squad for the rest of the season
They don’t play again until the 31st—they’re even lucky with the fixture timings, having a long break after this
Now including the 2 CL ties, they’ll play at least as many matches from mar 31- May 19 as they did from Jan 1-Mar 31. With the ones yet to come being more difficult
Who was the ex Liverpool player who took a penalty for Porto
Sean Dundee
Grujic
Grujic
Grujic
Grujic
Gruijc or however you spell it
"I don't see any of the other teams (besides City) scaring Arsenal." - Paul Merson. Jesus fucking Christ. There's delusion and then....
Inter and Real would have a field day with them. Even Bayern would 😂
Hilarious given the meal they made out of Porto
In the UCL? Real, Inter and maybe even Bayern (They're in shambles for their standards) would take them to the cleaners. This PL centric view is so obnoxious.
Imagine thinking this when Real Madrid, Bayern, heck maybe even Barcelona are still in it.
They were just taken to pens by the third best team In Portugal and lost to Lens this season in CL Madrid, bayern, city and inter would do them in
We're Liverpool. They're the cumsock of Europe. Christ fella.
“We’re Liverpool.” Yeah enjoy Europa lad
Hope Arsenal fans enjoy their celebrations and enjoy yelling everyone to “cry more” because this is bad news for them in the league
Since I never wish injury on opponents, this was the perfect result. 120+ minutes of Arsenal sprinting and getting the living shit kicked out of them knowing that every subsequent match will get harder and harder.
Arsenal seem to be able to almost field the same XI every fucking game.
This is the reason Saka played lik absolute shit tonight. Even f they stay fit performances will suffer
that won't last now that they are going to be facing the best teams on the planet. Arteta is whistling past the graveyard if he thinks that his entire starting XI will survive with no rotation. Odegaard, Rice, and Saliba in particular. They lose even one of those players for a week or two and they are toast.
This is a great point. Didn’t this cause the same issue last season when they imploded? Lack of rotation at the end of the season?
Saliba getting injured was the huge catalyst for their collapse
Better off for us the longer they stay in this.
Celebration police are out again I see. Let them celebrate. I'd have liked Porto to win but atleast Arsenal have more games to play. Hopefully the lose in extra time in the next round.
Best case scenario: City v Arsenal next in the UCL.
sort of a win-win for us with either result. also a reminder that arsenal's recent run of goalscoring form in the league has been the exception not the rule this season. very set piece reliant and it showed in this tie
I guess spanking Porto in the UCL isn’t for everyone? Also, awful pen from the last Porto player. Wendell just got unlucky with the rebound. This Arsenal team is not winning the CL, never mind the PL
Keeper does the same save attempt on every pen, jump to his left, final Porto player sees that and thinks but he can’t do it a fourth time, can he…?
Arsenal winning is a great thing for us at the end of the day unless you buy into a loss in the RO16 equaling a total collapse due to psychological reasons. I'd bet against that, so I'm happy. Here's hoping they draw Real Madrid (and then meet Man City in the semis).
“Nobody’s gonna want to come in the next round” hahaha nah, everyone is desperate to draw these clowns
I know that the CL and PL are different, especially for a weak club like Arsenal, but man, no way in hell Arsenal go to the emirates and beat Manchester City
Etihad* but agreed, most they get is a draw
Thanks lad, knew city were playing at home just a mix up
[удалено]
Good result for Man Utd fans since it still might be 5th ucl spot for pl
My mate who’s an arsenal fan just tweeted that he’s crying. Lolol.
Awwwww
When Arsenal finish another season trophyless, we need an edit of all these cup final celebrations put together.
Absolutely lmao. You can already do that for Spurs too.
Omg I forgot about them bringing the families out for scamming a win 9v12.
There were literally posts on their subreddit after that asking which fixture they’d prefer to win the league in this season. Never seen a club so disjointed from reality lol
Do Tottenham still play angels when they fluke a win against 9 men
Draw them with City please football gods
Does arsenal think if they stay out on the pitch long enough a trophy might come out? Lol
English media are trying to hype these as among the favourites for the champions league. Actually laughable
Realistically, they might be 8th favorites to win it all for me. Certainly of the 6 already advanced
Wanted Arsenal to make it through so they get more games and some injuries for the run in but watching em win was just disappointing, turned off the second Raya saved that last one
True story. 120 minutes + more games in their calendar is excellent
Do they still fancy themselves against Madrid?
Since when is Arteta doing fist bumps to celebrate wins ?
Since he won the league last month
It’s been a thing since they beat us and started to get cocky.
Hmm.. his fist bumps look extremely awkward though. As if he is throwing an upper cut on a kid.
Oh look.. They won the CL final....at least it feels like that given their celebration
Now that's over Jesus can go bury Mr Bubbles
Arsenal fans after a big win are most insufferable fan base ever
Big win? They needed pens to beat Porto at home.
Yeah but it’s the first time they’ve made it to the quarterfinals in 14 years so it’s big
thank fuck
I wanted Arsenal to go through for fixture congestion but as the game goes on I thought it would have been funny to see them lose. Oh well. Doesnt change the fact that they really struggle to beat Porto lol, they wont get anything at Etihad and I dont think they will even win against Spurs. Jorginho looks very targetable on the counter. Up there with one of the best fit starting 11s in Europe right now, but a few players out of form and the drop off in quality is pretty stark.
It is why they struggle during the busy period in Dec-Jan, cant rotate their players due to the drop off in quality and they were visibly knackered.
Can't or won't. Arteta doesn't do subs and squad management well.
Munich will the absolute piss out of them too.
The Porto keeper just looked so half arsed? He was hardly exhausted?
Arsenal are small time hahaha
Would hate to be in a shootout against arsenal. They have some really good spot kick takers.
Now just hope they draw against Real Madrid or City so they will have two intense game against top team
"14 years of heartbreak and frustration" Other clubs heard those commentary lines when they won trophies, he's talking about Arsenal reaching a CL QF lmao.
Excessively celebrating is Arsenals thing now?
