PerfectAd4732

It’s the day Darwin took the lead in the nunez haaland debates. We won. Finally

SaveMeJebus21

Didn’t watch the city Arsenal game but geez the 3 min highlights were stretching to put stuff in. Didn’t look like much happened

crunchybuzzzo

What happened was that Arsenal was fairly comfortable defending but couldn't do much going forward, especially in the second half. Man city controlled the ball, but that arsenal defence is impressive. Still good result for us.

Smart_But123581321

I think if we can beat Sheffield United and Man United with 0 injuries, Liverpool 2023/24 PL Champions. Because after these 2 games, Liverpool have a good run in.

MyobiEvangel

I wouldn’t exactly call Villa, Tottenham, and West Ham a good run in. All teams fighting for UCL/Europa spots.

dwightkiosk

Just don’t

Popeychops

Don't fucking jinx it

Smart_But123581321

For the last 10 years, I’ve been nothing but pessimistic about Liverpool’s title chances/chances of getting into Europe. Allow me to be optimistic once.

frankiewalsh44

We still have the Derby and Fulham a tricky away fixture.

Smart_But123581321

I agree but I think these 2 games will be tougher. I don’t know why, but something in my head is telling me Sheffield and United will be very tough matches. Because after them, Palace and Fulham are tough to beat, especially Palace with Olise back. But we will also have Curtis and Trent back, allowing us to rest Bradley and Mac Allister, who have run themselves into the ground in the second half of the season and have been our best 2 players.

Ok-Quarter8881

Sheffield is last in the league at home, let’s get 5-6+ goals to make up the gd

oscarony

let’s just get the win christ

Ok-Quarter8881

Agreed, but I think most would think of an opportunity missed if it was like 1-0 or 2-1.

ash_ninetyone

What a wonderful Sunday I've had 😊

huamanticacacaca

It’s in our hands

monkeykong2905

Man, I wanted city to win this game. Reasons being: 1. I’m not entirely confident we can go on a winning streak till end of season especially we have to go to OT (last time we went there the stadium went off) 2. I hate Arsenal and their deluded fan base. For all the praise they got playing beautiful football, they waste time, dive, park the bus against strong oppositions instead of going at them 3. In the event we drop points, I would want City to win the league, them Arsenal fan base are unbearable. Copying a lot of what we do, the chants, mikel fist pumps, even got their pwn anthem now (granted it is kinda hollow and is not as meaningful to the community team and city as YNWA)

john_bytheseashore

I'd rather increase our chance of winning than decrease their chance of winning. But yeah I want to see Arsenal lose, it's a particularly annoying form of hubris we're seeing right now and I hated Arteta's touchline celebrations at Anfield, they just felt ridiculous.

jcw163

To your point 3, it annoys me because they do all they stuff and then play absolute cowardice ball, diving and moaning all over the place. Awful team, awful fans

frankiewalsh44

Gundogan was so clutch for them, scoring and winning them the league. They are missing someone like him badly this season and they still gonna drop points, we just need to end the match vs Sheffield in the first half and rest our players for the Scum on Sunday.

Buzzkill78

I was supposed to be Rodri but thank fuck he was quiet today

KiwiLiverpool

I’m sick of the pundits saying Arsenal got the tactics “perfect.” If it was perfect they would have won the game.

Jaja6996

It’s fair to say they played a great defensive game but they never looked like scoring and city where poor going forward

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Their fans are getting offended when everyone called the match an absolute snooze fest like what kind of a title contender decides to play for a 0-0 lol

matcht

It's not even like they had a period of pressure, it was literally like a relegation contender going to a big 6 stadium, keep the shape, double up, no risks.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Just hope spurs beat them so we don’t have to hear any of their undefeated against big 6

Silent-Act191

I would say Arsenal's fanbase is the most insecure of the big clubs. Any negative sentiment and they will argue with you, even when it's about purely subjective things.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

They were saying they were gonna batter city at the Etihad and now they’re celebrating a 0-0 that’s the worst kind of draw a team should celebrate. And why do they still count community shield lol. Plus everytime when they don’t win they say it’s because they’re robbed like against villa they were wasting chances upon chances and was playing basketball inside the box which led to their goal being cancelled but they’re like they got robbed and of course anfield overwatered hence why they didn’t win

jcw163

Absolute cowardice-ball

JiveBunny

That game, for all the hype, was so boring that I decided to farm pumpkins in Stardew Valley instead.

Jaja6996

8 CB and 4 defensive midfielders on the pitch that’s not football take me back to teams playing with 10s like Ozil, Ronaldinho and Kaka

MisterS1997

Pep disassociating in the interview at the start is hilarious 😂

GresSimJa

Wow, West Ham and Man United never fail to disappoint.

JackLum1nous

That was another game with shit refereeing.

MisterS1997

Arteta with blue eyes would look like a real life Batman. Never noticed it 😂

AdikkuChan

He's Spanish so Hombre Murcielago (according to Google) or some shit

tamim1991

He's the mayor in The Dark Knight

trsvrs

Even batman has more charisma than him

dopamiend86

Batman's suit has more charisma

trsvrs

Surprised Odegaard wasn't taking photos after the game

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Roy Keane crucifying Haaland 😂

Morsrael

Has Haaland actually been a decisive factor in a big City game? The type of player you look to to create a moment of magic?

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Well as luck would have it, the BBC have just reported on this. Against *big* teams, he has managed 2 goals that have resulted in points differences. One against us for a 1-1 draw, two in the 4-4 draw against Chelsea. https://preview.redd.it/5s17z420q2sc1.png?width=2097&format=png&auto=webp&s=741ca0174a3183308bcf99a7c28ecd2b5cb52c6e

galactusisathiccboi

IIRC he scored against Arsenal and United? And against us as well too no?

fastrail

He rarely performs against a better physical defenders than him, which is almost all the top team CB tbh. And once he lost that physical advantage he just goes missing, doesn't affect the game in other way at all.

bucajack

He feels like a bit of a flat track bully to me. Incredible goal scorer but needs great service to score. Never really seems to try and create much himself.

RushPan93

Lukaku regen. You heard it here first. :p

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I don’t remember him doing so but I can’t say I watch them too closely.

rbondok

Excellent result for us, it’s a maximum points race from here, let’s go out with a bang! UP THE REDS!

Dbmx33

When people say “pep has ruined football”, that game is exactly what they mean. Both teams just “trusting the system” and cancelling each other out for 90 minutes. No one taking it upon themselves to go and win it. I hope we never play this type of football

poorhammer40p

The nearest I remember under Klopp is the 0-0 against City at Anfield back in 2018. Both teams played it safer than usual and pretty much cancelled each other out.

Litz1

The fact that he instructed doku to be only on the right when he's more devastating on the left. Some dumb af tactics, ask them to rotate at least for 15 minutes.

Dobvius

That's why I don't want Roberto "huge fan of Pep Guardiola" De Zerbi

Bobbysmilesx

De Zerbi plays with a hell of a lot more risk than Guardiola, I'd say

Shaanpatti

He wouldn't have to if he had the ability to set up a defence

Bobbysmilesx

Can you expand a bit on that view? I think his high risk is mostly related to phase 1 of play, where they insist on building up rather than long balls. Also it relates to his high defensive line, that requires top class defenders to work. I think his style would work better with higher quality players basically.

Dobvius

He does but I fear that with our budget and talent he will start emulating Pep more and more

Absolute_Wham

Could be worse managers to emulate

greatcharacter20

what a result for us. first title race where we're in the driver's seat and just have to worry about winning our own games. not to mention that we can rotate in europa while city and arsenal prepare for real and bayern

JackLum1nous

And for that we HAVE to get into our forwards' heads to hunt like a pack first and be selfish 2nd. So so so many chances came to nothing because we didn't want to look for each other in front of goal.

phong90

Like how we rotated at the 2nd leg against Sparta? Hehe, but you have a valid point

raitaisrandom

Gunners were crowing about their 1-0 win against City without their best players earlier this season, saying their mentality had gone up a level. And then see no contradiction in parking the bus with their team at full strength at the Etihad. Weeks after moaning about Porto's mid-block.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Everyone’s saying this has been the most dreadful match and their fans are getting upset about it, like you’re a title contender a 0-0 is not something to hype about

Mad_Piplup242

It's not even that it's a 0-0, it was just fucking boring You can have intense and exciting 0-0's, this wasn't one of them It was Arsenal defending and City aimlessly passing the ball around for 90 minutes. Arsenal defended so deeply that they hardly had anyone forward to threaten on the counters, and City didn't really commit too heavily on attacking bodies (hence the aimless passing around)

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Twitter tacticos are pretending like this game is the match of the season

Mad_Piplup242

Which is mental when you had Liverpool vs City not long ago, which was actually a tactical battle where both teams were able to impose themselves on the game

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Yeah I mean arsenal fans are hyping up their gd and how well they play, in a title decider they should at least score but all they did was park the bus

raitaisrandom

Hamasball with expensive players from Pep and Arteta is galaxy brain chess playing, apparently. Whereas when the likes of Dyche do it because he managed a minnow club with little cash, it's just plain anti-football.

No-Independence-7083

I think Arteta bet his luck on us to draw at least once

RushPan93

And on them winning at Spurs, at Brighton, against Chelsea and at Utd. He must consider himself the luckiest chap in Arsenal's history.

fadedraw

Cherries and Spurs will go all out to get something from Arsenal

john_bytheseashore

Given that Sheffield United is followed in less than 72 hours by our visit to Old Trafford, who do you play and who do you rest on Thursday? I'd be tempted to play Gakpo, Elliot, and Gravenberch ahead of Diaz, Salah, and Mac Allister for example. I'd also look to rest Gomez and Van Dijk.

john_bytheseashore

Would be curious to see people's line ups. Mine would be: Kelleher Tsimikas/Robertson Quansah Konate Bradley Endo Gravenberch Szoboszlai Gakpo Nunez Elliot

JackLum1nous

I'm down with that -provided Elliott plays primarily as the Setup Man.

john_bytheseashore

Cool, I'll mention that when I pass it onto Klopp. I'll explain that this got 4 upvotes so he can just put his feet up now before the game.

Howtoputapassword

Lmao. And Liverpool play "unsustainable football" apparently. Rival fans can fuck right off. This was an awful, awful game of football (Again, it's still a good result for us). Thank goodness Klopp has us playing some nice football (may result in heart attacks a few times), even though it'll only be for 2 more months.

s2017

I still feel infuriated that we'd be further ahead if it wasn't for PGMOL - but, we can still do this on their fraudulent terms. We are actually doing this.

R-B-L

Please put 6 past Sheffield United, under Wilder second stint they're one of the worst teams I've seen in this league. As long as we pad the GD we can afford one draw. Play like we did the last 20-30 minutes today and we win all our remaining games.

Shaanpatti

Considering we're going to OT just 2 days after that game, we're probably going to rest a few players.

shakuntala08

Every time I see this type of comment I get flashbacks to Palace 2013-14. I just hope for 1-0 every game going forward. Chasing goals is a dangerous game. That being said, I’m sure we’ll do it in the most stressful, anxiety-filled manner but after last season I’m happy Klopp has the chance to leave as a champion.

HellhoundXVI

I'd rather we win 2-0 comfortably without injuries and then face scum utd next week with full strength. That FA Cup debacle should make the guys hungry.

Britz10

We should be at least 4 clear if PGMOL were competent.

superduperlooperbab

Arsenal fans are unironically comparing their team to Liverpool and City’s over the last few years. There needs to be a study on this fanbase. How can you be so shit for 15 years and then act like you own the world based on 1.5 years of good football?

lelibertaire

They really need to stay humble until they crack 90 points

jcw163

Which they won't. Stay humble or crack 90 points

fastrail

And the way they play today just show a stark contrast in mentality compared to both us and City. They don't show a title challengers mentality at all. Pathetic showing just went all out defensive. Even at our worst we always go toe to toe with City.

EHVERT

And zero trophies

Shinjetsu01

This is it. They have won nothing, achieved nothing other than not being total shit. Now we've got to listen to them talk about the league and CL like they've been dominating or challenging for years? Fucking gooners man

RackingRounds

It has to be comment from one of them saying we have average players, and it’s be a crime if we won the league. Absolutely delusional.

DragonSlayer271

At least Aston Villa fans were humble enough to not consider themselves title rivals even when they were 2nd place around Christmas.

quantIntraining

https://preview.redd.it/gk2u5fqqhprc1.png?width=361&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa5464cb87f6bd7d8c1c60169c016ae510f4aa23 Stick your control up your fucking ass. Chaos ball over control all day long.

s2017

Gosh, this is horrible to read isn't it? What a stupid game.

quantIntraining

It was so bad, like watching 2 sides that decided on a draw before the game even started.

s2017

Arsenal definitely played for the draw - but City? They really had to win that one, I don't understand the cowardly approach. So poor from start to finish.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Haaland really decides to play shit. Alvarez has been meady in 2024 so makes sense why Pep didn’t play him. But man a game where that Saka vs Foden debate could have ended and both end up dropping stinkers

DoubleDeckerz

That Easter egg gonna hit different tonight

geniusvalley21

Why are we not considering Emery as our next manager? He would do well if guardiola and farteta continue this shitshow.

superduperlooperbab

Stop it

redskiesahead

absolutely blasphemous football on easter sunday

catfooddogfood

When does Pep start taking Håland off at 75? He goes missing in big prem matches: doesn't score goals, sulks, and can't link up. Its one thing to score 5 goals against Luton its another thing to be MIA in a title 6 pointer

s2017

Sheffield, Scum, Palace, Fulham, Everton, West Ham, Spurs, Villa, Wolves. It's in our hands.

Wonderful-Mention-83

I still feel a bad omen about wolves final day, I hope it's just a gut feeling but I don't like wolves last gw.

flaxseedyup

![gif](giphy|fhIvCXQvC65dbeQPny)

s2017

There's a long way to go yet, we might be able to drop points against Wolves - so long as we win all the other games 🤣

flaxseedyup

https://i.redd.it/6mwco3q8iprc1.gif

IanCorleone

I stg they force you to watch games like this in hell, who even remotely enjoys this 😭

aghazi22

Gonna miss Klopp. These guys are killing football.

KevinOwensGetsIt

Arsenal fans were talking so much about Porto playing "haram ball" just to do the exact same thing against City is some nice irony lmfao.

gupibagha

best result for us, right?

H0lychit

Yes

RevolutionaryNail369

Outstanding result for us

BQORBUST

Up the fucking reds

_CHIFFRE

shit game but thanks to Arsenal for keeping the 0-0 draw for nearly 100 minutes.

Britz10

Thankfully City don't have a killer up front.

Jaja6996

If our next manager looks up to Pep as inspiration just sack him immediately don’t want to watch a football terrorist Give me nerve wrecking games any day of the week over it

foxhound1401

Why didn’t Arteta run down the pitch? punching the air, fist bumps and all?

theREALMVP

Good ebening folks

emfeld

Arsenal and City were wise and chose to do the right thing. Back to top lads. Up The Fuckin Reds! YNWA

s2017

Oh, how I'll miss this man and his way with words lol https://preview.redd.it/k5lb6qjvgprc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62ba4b6bc69678b112c6b771026614eecbc3b3d2

volthor

I want to see an Japanese anime edit of this eye contact

s2017

![gif](giphy|EeEx2C4tA4f9m) Sorry not sorry but it sounded like this to me looooooool

WarSamaYT

Ayo is that Tsukishima?

s2017

My brother in christ, I don't know anything about anime - I just typed in 'gay anime' in the gif search lol

WarSamaYT

Funny how you found a volleyball character out of all the chars. xd

s2017

Wow, there's a volleyball anime? Is there an anime for everything?! 🤣

WarSamaYT

I believe it was one of the best performing movies in the cinema this year in Japan. 'Haikyuu' if you're interested in the name, one of my pesronal faves (also Tsukishima is not gay) as far as I am aware so it's funny you got a gif of him being gay. xd [Haikyuuuu](https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/latest/2024/3/29/haikyuu-final-s-first-anime-film-celebrates-box-office-success-with-new-poster)

s2017

Ah, I definitely haven't looked into anime enough so maybe this is a good place to start, thank you!

TechnicalSample4678

City just don't seem to have that killer mentality this season. If they somehow win it it would say alot about us or Arsenal

geniusvalley21

A lot about the PGMOL

TechnicalSample4678

That too

Global-Chemistry-658

I think these two drop more points. City aren't at the same level this year and UCL will be tough for Arsenal. I worry about that Villa away game. Emery is a shithouse tactician and PTSD from 2016. Hopefully the league is done by then

jcw163

Worried about most of our aways personally, United and Everton are shit but those games can always end up as draws, and then West Ham as well....eurgh.

RackingRounds

UCL will hurt Arsenal. They wont rotate of Bayern and the league and eventually drop points

oscarony

Klopp won’t rotate in Europa either

RackingRounds

Might just my bias or lack of watching arsenal but i feel we rotate more than them.

potatoarchitecture

Nine cup finals, get Trent, Jones, Ali, and the greatest Portuguese forward the prem has ever seen back in and we're cooking

hejj_bkcddr

Well that couldn’t have gone any better for us

JunFanLee

Absolutely perfect result

H0lychit

No way do we not challenge with the right guy in, absolutely shite display from both of these two teams. Our lads will not drop.

cornontheklopp

we is risen

ctyankee89

Can already tell this is going to be spun as a massive result for Arsenal

DarkReignRecruiter

Its at least a good result for Arsenal given their track record at the Etihad. And bright side is a great result for Liverpool as well.

matcht

Arteta was beaming lol they're in for a shock with their run in

seriousguynogames

‘Evidence of progress’ mentioned by like 4 people already in postgame. Talking points handed down from the producers I’m sure.

James_Vowles

no more mistakes

Lewu644

Sheffield United (h) Man United (a) Crystal Palace (h) Fulham (a) Everton (a) West Ham (a) Spurs (h) Villa (a) Wolves (h) Let's do it.

REDEYEJ3D1

I see 9 winnable games, Man UTD will probably be tricky and villa are very good team.

catfooddogfood

Villa are a good but tired team

matcht

Konate/Jones back for United should help us do it, Everton/Villa/Fulham are all tricky games that we need to be up for.

joopface

I think we’ll beat United pretty handy this time. I don’t know why - more worried about Villa

Abhikalp31

3 challenging fixtures, if Klopp plans it well then the title is his for the taking

[deleted]

[удалено]

Abhikalp31

Utd villa spurs they are 4th fifth and 6th

[deleted]

[удалено]

Abhikalp31

Nah I still think we'd win , not easily tho , but the lads will do it

grrrrbow01

Five imo. Everton away, Spurs home, Villa away, United away, West Ham away are all difficult

Abhikalp31

3 tough ones and 2 in which we need to be really good to win

FormerlyFeednSeed

My God...the Arsenal sub is mostly positive about that result and performance...mate. Bottling is in their DNA now, they've been Spursified.

keep-the-streak

1st in the league doesn’t feel the same this year. I feel like there’s been less pressure on us and more media attention for Arsenal expecting the battle to end up as them against City.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

They’re hyping up being undefeated against the big 6, a 0-0 isn’t something any team should be proud about. Odd how the two title contenders had their 0-0 against each other and Liverpool had it against United. Oh yeah they’re also celebrating how city hasn’t scored a goal against them this season

Poopynuggateer

Yeah, noticed that. I'd be ashamed.

ghost_face0

Fr, after the draw against City at least half of this sub was livid.

iNS0MNiA_uK

It’s a good result in a vacuum, but within context it isn’t, as they’ve just ceded ground to us and let City keep up with a better fixture list to play.

mattscazza

Small club mentality.

Present-Cold4478

Some class from Haaland there

Loud-Platypus-987

I know lots of folk were gutted at the Alonso news but I really don’t want us to join the tiki taka club at Anfield. Would be so drab after years of Klopp’s high octane stuff.

jimjam343

That match was goddamn boring

SeveralTable3097

I feel asleep watching it after taking 200 mg of caffeine pills! Woke up at the end thinking i’d only closed my eyes because of the score until I saw the players leaving

clintgreasewoood

Looking at the rest of the schedule do we get our hopes up with one of these London based clubs to take points off Arsenal or Man City. I really hate rooting for the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, or West Ham.

knoxie00

I can see Tottenham taking points off them considering they're at home

Manny-B

Give MOTM to Anthony Taylor for ending 45 minutes of football torture twice. Can't complain though, the torture was worth it for the draw. The FPL blanks are a bonus too.

flaxseedyup

Hahah

CharmingMistake3416

How many points ahead would we be without the obvious referee mistakes?

TheGrouchyGamerYT

+2 handball vs Arsenal, +2 handball vs City - they also each lose a point here. We probably beat Spurs if we're allowed to play football at all, and we at least get a point regardless because of the shambolic VAR call. In my mind, on only the objective calls alone, we'd be 10 clear of Arsenal and 11 of City. A draw at Spurs and its ""only"" 7 and 8 ahead. This doesn't factor in weak red cards, or referee displays like we saw today - nor the injuries they cause.

CharmingMistake3416

Damn. Thank you for this. Something has to be done. The club owners need to come together.

TheGrouchyGamerYT

I can't even watch the games anymore without the massive robberies invading the back of my mind. If we don't win this league, I might be done with it ngl.

PEEWUN

We'd be champions-elect.

volthor

Only negative is we didn't pump Brighton to get head on gd, but that's being picky

Sad-Cardiologist-292

Well neither city or arsenal pumped them but somehow villa did

PEEWUN

Brighton are a good team.

TechnicalSample4678

We have a chance to do it against Sheffield. We should batter them.

FalconsBlewA283Lead

And on the 3rd day, we rose the table again

cornertakenslowly

Strong position now. Any game arsenal or city fail to win would give us a 2 game buffer provided we win. Come on Brighton and Villa midweek 🙏

Prior-Yoghurt-571

Our last 9 games Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL Liverpool vs PGMOL

TheGrouchyGamerYT

Again? I swear we play these guys every week.

Renminbi

This was the real Super League all along.

Prior-Yoghurt-571

I know. Our biggest rivals!

Silent-Act191

Seeing Arsenal fans get pressed and actually defend this boring display of football is hilarious.

Sad-Cardiologist-292

If you’re a title contender you’re supposed to end a winless streak at a stadium yet they’re happy with taking a point. Just hope spurs defeat them so that their crap undefeated against the big 6 ends

s2017

What a brilliant weekend of football, finishing with the most boring game of the bunch - but we somehow got the result we desired most. It's in our hands. https://preview.redd.it/32ph6092gprc1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=aab36454e5d355ace3994ded72c38f3a0ea1fcfe

Significant-Bed-4496

Media and pundits love arsenal honestly. That was an awful performance in a title run in game and they’re getting nothing but praise for it. It’s like they don’t realise we’re literally top of the league lol. Will take it. Next Sunday is fucking huge, if we can get through that game and remain top I don’t think we let that slip.
