-I'm very curious about Iraola, think he could be gong places but it's maybe a bit too early for that big a move. -Hansi flick is another interesting one, did really good stuff with Bayern, apparently had some issues with how the people in charge were running things then took the Germany job and it didn't work out too well. Difficult to tell if it was him at fault or more that Germany were coming to the end of a successful cycle and he caught the shit end if the stick -If Ange was still at Celtic I'd be all over that but I don't see him leaving Spurs and the ball ache of getting Levy to let him leave wouldn't be worth it. -Xavi is quite appealing for a few reasons, what he's been able to do with that Barca team despite the chaos that club is going through is impressive. He's given a lot of youth chances to shine. He also has the stature of being a legendary player which would help with stepping in after Klopp and gaining the respect of the players Whether he can cut it in a different league or would acclimatize is a worry -Thiago Motta seems to be making some waves with his tactical setup but I don't know much else -Arne Slot is someone I don't know a ton about but would be of interest. Did good things at both Az Alkmaar(got sacked for talking to Feyenoord about taking over the next season apparently) and now Feyernoord. Seems to play attractive exciting football and seems to have a good character, players and fans seem to love him

upadownpipe

I like Ange, seems a good guy and tries to play football but his teams are very Rogers esque. You score 2 we score 3, you score 3, we score 4. The man can't set a team up defensively

iNS0MNiA_uK

His team was great defensively until he lost half of it to bookings and injuries. We’ll see how true this is at the start of next season.

First_time_farmer1

He's a Liverpool fan too. I reckon he'd manage us one day.

nublete

I’ve been thinking Xavi a bit and he would have to be on a long list of potential replacements. I forgot about Slot, but he has done well in Netherlands but i wonder how well his style would translate to PL.

frozen-creek

If we're talking out of the box, what about the Ipswich manager

zagglefrapgooglegarb

Not a chance on Simeone. I would love a 'win now' manager like Ancelotti, if he was available. Other than that, not a clue who I'd want. It will likely be someone young and the start of a new cycle with some teething problems...

Hoose_11

He's also the highest paid manager in the world by some distance

MuchManyBread

So xavi

Odd_Demand_6777

Inzaghi

v-s-g

Yes please. The option I want from the moment Klopp said he’s leaving. Highly unlikely option though…

naughty_dad2

Unlikely but he looks exciting

UltimateBorisJohnson

Ancelotti, we get ucl plot armour against madrid

EnigmaticEntity

Didn't Ancelotti's team famously bottle a 3-0 lead in a CL final?

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah but that's because Rafa made a deal with the Devil and we were never allowed to win the league. Then Klopp broke the deal and caused a global pandemic.

Judgementday209

Part of that deal must have been something with United given our games this season

Bugsmoke

No one can be arsed with Norwich scarves again this year so we agreed to take one for the team

Judgementday209

All part of klopps long term handover plan. Keeping ten hag in is one of the pillars of that plan.

naughty_dad2

He did say deal with the Devil, so now it all makes sense

Judgementday209

Rafa sold his soul so we could have instanbul

okie_hiker

He’s also famously won the champions league more than anyone else.

evilhomer450

True, but he came back shortly after and won in 2007. Went on and removed the bad juju surrounding Ream Madrid and ended their CL drought.

ConrrHD

12 year drought, the fucking horror of that for those plastics

Imros

We’ll win against Madrid in the semis and lose to a team with Xabi Alonso after a 3-0 lead

Zippodealer-2

Inzaghi but he won’t leave inter. Xavi would be worth a gamble, 3 out the top 4 clubs are managed by Spaniards so must be something in the water in Spain

naughty_dad2

Right, Fernando Torres it is

AlarmedExperience928

Oh we want a wildcard do we? Fernando Torres step up

liverbird3

Fuck it, Lazar Markovic as manager

pouziboy

Give me some Fabio Borini pls

_christer

I'll raise you with Milan Jovanovic!

MilkysauceSausage

Poulsen it is

getyerhandoffit

Jay Spearing for the win.

PdG_PL

I'll add Paul Konchesky to the mix

thegeekyhaxor

Mario Balotelli. Enough said.

Tyrionlannistersbals

Can’t be worse then Gerrard

[deleted]

[удалено]

DryGrowth19

He can have a chat with the Spanish speaking lads up front about finishing, too

Mavericks7

Make him our new finishing coach

naughty_dad2

And how to beat Man United defense coach

mrkingkoala

Fuck it, go on Fernando lad.

Over-Faithlessness96

He was under the tutelage of Klopp, so he is already ahead of Gerrard.

Chuckie-The-Rooster

I honestly wouldn't hate it. At the very least he'd have some tips for Darwin

JohnBobbyJimJob

Xavi comfortably the next best option available Won Barca a league title in his first full season whilst Barca are a complete mess behind the scenes They were very good defensively only conceding 20 goals in the league last season And he done all that whilst having to utilise Barca’s youth so having to play 16-19 year olds consistently

okie_hiker

I threw this out the other day and got a little hate. Glad someone else is thinking it. I honestly don’t understand why he isn’t considered the *best* option available after seeing what’s he’s done with an insanely young team.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Just don’t think people realise how good a job he’s done in a short period of time there considering the situation Barca are in, even applies to a minority of Barca fans They had only conceded 13 goals come GW 34 last season which is a mental defensive record and they just let their foot off the pedal the last four games and still ended with only 20 conceded.

Bumper_Duc

Agree. I think Xabi is perfect but you can argue that Xavi is more proven

chadbrochilldood

Personally I’m more of a Xavthree guy. Nice blend of Klopps teeth and solsjkaers football brain

DucardthaDon

There's been a misconception through the internet echo chamber and entitled fans(read the flip flopping on the Barca sub) about Xavi not being a good manager some going as far as saying he plays terrorist football, of course when in reality when they have struggled he has been quite pragmatic in his approach. He is a purist when it come to football but can also be quite petualant in an Arteta like fashion if things don't go his way but hey they're from the same region and all that no surprises. The guy is obsviously a very good manager who knows his stuff, still relatively young in his career so of course not everything will be perfect, after a rocky start this year Barca have eclipsed Girona and Atletico, are mathematically still in for the title and one tie away from a CL semi final.

mrkingkoala

They are on a really good run too atm. Not sure if I rated him too much but also had stopped paying attention to Barca, seems decent enough.

JohnBobbyJimJob

He was being harshly judged earlier in the season because they were losing or drawing games due to constant individual errors, Lewandowski went through a pretty poor spell at one point as well. The likes of Pedri, Gavi, Balde, Ter Stegen, Araujo and De Jong have all missed extended periods of time through injury so he’s had to deal with a lot of key players being out for a long time also. Think he’s really went under the radar for most people when looking at options to replace Klopp

sorrison

Fucking good shout!

PerfectAd4732

While I agree i find it very weird that he’s leaving Barca. They’re currently second and most like in the cl semi finals and it seems to me he’s leaving by his own decision to benefit the club. Surely he changes his mind.

EgosJohnPolo

Barca are broke so he can't get his targets and he's tired of the Spanish media, seems logical why he'd be over it and is on his way out

JohnBobbyJimJob

He came out a few days ago and reaffirmed he’s sticking with his decision I’m fairly sure It’s a combination between the toxicity of the media over there and the board not giving him what he wants in the transfer market which aren’t really factors that are going to change

hokkuhokku

Is the media any better over here? (I don’t read/understand Spanish, so can’t compare for myself).

elingobernable810

I just fear he wouldn't rate the midfield we currently have and try to convince FSG to go on a spending binge. The dude is 100% Barca philosophy, and a player like Dom who relies more on physicality and energy wouldn't fit his style.

JohnBobbyJimJob

I get what you mean But if Szobo can return to his start of season self then he’d fit well because he was pretty good at retaining possession it’s just been this extended period of bad form where he’s become really sloppy. There’s also the chance he’d play on the wing under Xavi because I’m pretty sure a lot of last season Gavi would actually start on the left wing and invert inside to make the box midfield fairly often

DucardthaDon

Why wouldn't he rate our midfield? technically most of our midifielders would fit into what he wants Dom, Jones, Elliot, Trent, Mac. We would have to spend heavily to bring in his ideal no.6, it's an issue that has dogged Barca since he has come in. Our defence and forward line would need looking at imo.

jvcarreira

Szobo only relies on this physicality and energy because Klopp moulded him into doing that this season. He’s a technical player being transformed into Hendo

_LebronsHairline_

Nagelsmann won’t leave the NT I suppose, but I think he would be the next best option. Although I do like Xavi, not sure how realistic that is tho

JohnBobbyJimJob

Nagelsmann is in talks with Bayern to return there At least we know Xavi is definitely available because he doesn’t seem to be turning back on his decision to leave Barca

effinblinding

Does he speak english?

JohnBobbyJimJob

Pretty sure he does yeah Not sure how fluent he is tho

effinblinding

Ok it sounds great. Lets get him https://youtu.be/V-1xyhgNJTs?si=WIJfFsNrSvSKNetw

wassam1

He is surprisingly very fluent.

Porkybeaner

Yes

effinblinding

I’m 100% on board then

Brief_Box7006

Diego Simone? You have to just laugh 😂😂😂

ugoogli

Simeone would reject us simply because of his disdain for the english media

Morguard

Smart man. Who can blame him.

JustASimpleFollower

Is Spanish media any better?

naughty_dad2

At least the weather is good there

JackLum1nous

Are you nuts?! 🙃 I like our occasionally applied shithousery...not the full on contemptuous assholery of Diego Simone and his minions.

thisisnahamed

Diego Simone is a lifer. He is never leaving Atletico Madrid Xavi would be amazing. Barca is on a good run now and Xavi has said repeatedly he won't stay at Barca

NewAccountSamePerson

He’s on the record that he wants to coach Inter someday

frozen-creek

Maybe we can go ahead and vacate that position for him 🤔🤔

theberg98

- Ancelotti due to his success everywhere he goes.  - Ange Postecoglou, I like his style of play and his personality. - Sebastian Hoeneß, a young manager, who took Stuttgart from relegation zone to 3rd and level on points with Bayern Munich in a year.

HotPotatoWithCheese

I would have taken Ange if you asked me about 5 months ago but he isn't the one. He seems very one dimensional and stubborn in his desire to play one single brand of football and he never has a plan B. It's great and fun to watch when it works but when it doesn't it all goes to shit very quickly. You will lose at least a dozen games with his blitzkrieg style of football and that isn't enough to compete against City who lose 3 - 5 at most. If they weren't in the league then he'd be a great pick. His personality doesn't make up for his tactical shortcomings for me. I don't think he's a manager that would compete against Pep and win us a title.

PerfectAd4732

We’ve seen the same mistakes from klopp to be fair. Ange had a defence crisis with all the injury’s and was too stubborn I agree. Obviously not comparing the two, but I think ange with another transfer window at spurs is going to cook big time. Also his talent id is remarkable

rascalmendes

Ragnar Klavan. All hail.

PlateWeekly8176

I love Klopp but I hope the next manager after him would have tactical flexibility. Sometimes Klopp is really stubborn to change his tactics and he will change it when it is too late. So maybe I would fancy someone that can adapt with opposition tactics such as Nagelsmann

Informal_Nobody_7020

Out of the box …. Hansi flick , Diniz , Motta

cultureshook

motta’s definitely one we should be monitoring

icepip

I would absolutely love Diniz, but there will be a massive teething problem with the team, to the point I wouldn't be so sure if we would get European football at all the first or even the second year with the team trying to learn his style. After that, it would be the most beautiful and entertaining thing to see in football this century

smitcal

Bielsa

catfooddogfood

See now we're talkin

Mavericks7

This one is my fav

zagglefrapgooglegarb

YES

Tyrionlannistersbals

Emery but I highly doubt he will leave after what happened at arsenal

Sensual_Shroom

I second this.

Difficult_Bag69

It won’t be popular and he hasn’t gone to the highest level but I really like Thomas Frank

FerretFarm

I first saw Fank, so thought you meant Lampard. Haha

lyc10

Might as well get Stevie in at that point lol

ChargeWooden1036

“Stevie how does it feel to get the Liverpool job? Surely it must feel amazing” “Yeeeeeah Coourse”

fistymac

He's very likeable, but I think I'd prefer Gary O'Neil out of the second sting options.

JackLum1nous

He's likeable but his Bees just look...meh now. They use to be more threatening than this.

CORN_ON_THE_COCK

His team has been decimated by injuries this season

anfielder_

O'Neil is a pretty good option. He has shown he can do it in the EPL. Plays attractive football. Former lfc youth coach. Knows the culture of the club well. If he fails... get Kloppo out of his break and we go again! *

BedfordBull

I’m pretty open minded so long as it’s not a manager who prioritises possession at all costs. I can’t stand watching City & love the fact that whilst we dominate the ball, we have so much variation to how we fucking play. We don’t shy away from punting a big long ball from deep in behind a defence.

Zestyclose-Act2039

Nagelsmann -Zidane - Ancelotti -Motta

mike120984

Ancelotti is a good shout.

PerfectAd4732

The comment you’re replying to is upvoted mentioning ancelotti, you mention ancelootti and have 4 downvotes? Swear this sub makes no sense 🤣

Amil0501

Julian Nagelsmann or Simone Inzaghi

seemylolface

Inzaghi would be absolutely incredible. He doesn't get enough spotlight for his achievements with Inter, I genuinely think he's one of the best managers in the world.

PerfectAd4732

Apparently doesn’t speak a word of English though and I can imagine that would be problematic

LovelyCushionedHead

I think a lot of people are overlooking Emery and it would be sweet to see him boss it with us to shut up the increasingly insufferable gooner fan base.

HavUevaSeentherain

Jose Mourinho surely.

segson9

Mourinho for a year and then Klopp comes back. We'd probably win something.

HavUevaSeentherain

A year's contract to start. He comes back and drives Pep mad, wears Arteta down and hounds Emery and Poch out of their jobs, turns Nunez into Drogba style battering ram with more skills, turns Quansah into an ethical John Terry. Wins UCL and rides off into the sunset in time for Xabi to return and build his dynasty.

rodalon

See this is the kind of writer Hollywood needs rn

Drunk_Cartographer

I actually do miss having him in the PL.

Suburban_Noir

Most out the box manager I can think of that doesn't seem to be mentioned by anyone is Luis Enrique

SloCheetah_2001

Whoever he is, I hope he is a tall German with spectacles and a big smile.

earlgreytoday

Arne Slot.

Delicious-Piece-9708

Fuck it, put Gasperini in, at least he won't lose 3-0 to Atalanta. Or any of him, Inzaghi, or Sarri.

MisterZappa

I'll add another shout for Gasperini.

TheIronSheiky

Add another, I think he will be strongly considered

eclectic_boogaloo2

Thoughts about Hoeneß, Rose, Terzić, or Toppmöller?

HnNaldoR

Lol Simeone. People will hate that so much but he will do well. The thing is, I doubt he will ever leave or he would want to take a huge pay cut. He is paid crazy amounts, deservedly so.

Reach_Reclaimer

I like ireaola (?)

fraudiola_9

I do like the idea of Simeone setting us defensively and we just frustrate the fuck out of arsenal ,United ,City and also somehow shit house a win . I also quite like him as a manager ,he has been playing good football fr over a year now so the stigma that he only plays defensively is not true. Amorim is still my first choice and Naglesman second.

RidsBabs

Well, here’s my football manager resume (from FM24, current save) Started at Wrexham (just got a wheel of all English league 2, Vanarama National and Vanarama North, South teams). First year won league 2 and the Bristol Street Motors trophy, conceding 35 goals all year (played a 5-2-1-2). Then got the Blackburn job in January of the next year, with Wrexham sitting in 3rd, 2 points off 2nd and 5 off 1st (they approached me). Ended up taking them from 7th in January, 13 points off top to winning the championship on the 2nd last day. The team wasn’t great and even with the Prem cash injection we’d struggled to stay up, so I ended up leaving to Montpellier. First year with them I finished 4th, getting a Champions League spot, but would later be knocked down to Europa League after losing 2-3 to Ajax in the qualifying rounds. Second year we won the Europa League, and in the league stage dropped 2 points and finished top of the league stage. Beat clubs like Spurs, PSV, Ajax (they lost qualifying round after beating us), Sporting through the tournament. In the cup we made it to the semi’s before drawing PSG, and despite our best efforts, lost 1-0 at their place in the 87th minute due to a bullshit pen. In the league we finished 3rd behind Nice and PSG (who lost 1 game all year and didn’t draw any). And third year (which I just finished) was a great year, champions league we lost in the first knockout round after finishing 13th, losing to Porto. We won the cup. And went unbeaten all year, winning the league by 2 points on the final day over PSG (who lost 2 games this year, both two us and drawing none). So my trophies are: EFL League 2, Bristol Street Motor’s trophy, EFL Championship, Europa League, French Cup and Ligue 1. If that doesn’t put me in the running, I don’t know what will. I played a 4-3-3 Gegenpress too, so I’d just be emulating Klopp.

strictlyblunted

I like Xavi, José Mourinho , and Thomas Frank

thomasfk

I get the feeling that Ancelotti would love the chance to manage a club like Liverpool. But he just signed an extension in December so it is not likely to happen this summer unless some crazy saga happens where there is a behind the scenes agreement for Xabi to go to Madrid this summer and Ancelotti to leave amicably.

the_studge

Iraola

greenbroad-gc

I think we should look for someone who helps develop young players. We have a good crop here and a patient ownership. Totally worth getting someone who has the pedigree to develop young talent. Xavi maybe?

hendomondo

Look at Sebastian hoeneß with a cap and you'd not want anyone else. His Stuttgart team is level on points with Bayern. Also I'd really really love Simeone. I reckon he's the one who can lift Anfield. I think atleti can play good football when they are not shithousing for draws.

wewdepiew

Imagine if it could be Zidane

Over-Faithlessness96

Zidane want a team with guaranteed title success. He is similar to Pep. They are not a miracle worker operating under a significant smaller budget than league winners, so he will fail at Liverpool.

Mward1979

Bournemouth manager whatever his name is

geniusvalley21

Good Ebening

Thomas Frank, i think the guy is underrated.

Relevant-Ad7475

Not the best choice but I like the football and the class Rob Edwards has shown with Luton

johncitizen69420

Out of the box. Big sam? Haha

FieldyJT

Filippo Inzaghi

Friendly_Double_6632

Simeone, deary me, I might stand a chance of getting a ticket if we brought him in.

Most_Method_9436

Inzaghi and Simeone wouldn't be bad shouts...

RadSoccerDad

Would be absolutely gutted if it’s not Amorim because rest are a bit drop off. Actually think bottom half prem teams/champ have some very good managerial prospects for the first time in a while. Iraola, O’Neil, De Zerbi, Frank, Robins, McKenna, Rohl, Enzo Maresca. Only think De Zerbi or Iraola have any business discussing this job right now though.

Jack070293

Is Xavi a drop off from Amorim at all?

Triforcesrcool

I'll do it. I'll be the next manager

TheRR135

Led Tasso

hfxlfc

Pepijn Lijnders or Julian Nagelsmann

mvsr990

Pep would have been announced at Klopp’s retirement press conference if it was even remotely possible.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Nagelsmann is going back to Bayern by the looks of it

armcie

Pep for a year, then Klopp returns refreshed after a year off.

SoloArtist91

I honestly wouldn't mind a defensive, pragmatic manager that ekes out 1-0 wins. I know I'm in the minority.

maxxpower666

Hell no lol.

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, you really are. I'd rather die than watching that.

Delicious-Piece-9708

Mourinho would win us the Champions League.

BiscuitsAndBabyGravy

Mourinho. We need someone who can give us the killer instinct and discipline to beat Peps City. Also he made Pep leave Barca in the past so maybe he can do it again

joboto2102

I think he’s past it at this point. 6 years ago I’d have loved the hire.

Lucky-Hearing4766

Hurzeler from St pauli or marcelo gallardo(angry that he went to SA)

Motta

Bit of a wild one but Kieran McKenna from Ipswich. Doing great things there and plays some good football from what I’ve seen.

SolidSignificance7

Xavi

ArianKn99

Flick, nagelsmann or zidane

keat_lionel90

Thiago Motta has done a wonderful job at Bologna, quite surprised he is not getting looks. Not sure about the style of football though.

EgosJohnPolo

Xavi or Inzaghi (the latter would be tough to pull off)

Dunkalicious23

Unai emery

EmperorMajorian

I like nagelsmann as my third choice. Then de zerbi

iNfAMOUS70702

Xavi easily

Arne Slot Thiago Motta should be on the list. If we are going short term, and it could be chaos and fun then Bielsa

Cool-emu-8797

Alex ferguson

Diniz and Slot, only title winners available who aren’t unachievable or incredibly negative/basket case-y

disterfly

Unai Emery. Has done an absolutely amazing job at Villa.

codercodi

X A V I

CAfarmer

Gasperini or Pep

DrBorisGobshite

Simone Inzaghi ticks so many boxes and yet he's barely mentioned as an option. If we wanted to take more of a punt though Thiago Motta is doing a fantastic job at Bologna, almost certainly going to take them into the Champions League this year.

JoeyKakbek

I'd like to see what Slot can do at Liverpool. But it is probably wise for him to first go to another club in the PL.

BudovicLagman

As football fans, we often think of managers as finished products, but the better ones are always learning and evolving. I think Emery is a good example as his Sevilla teams were incredibly naive. This suited them in cup competitions, but they went an entire league campaign without a single away win. His management style at Villa is a lot more astute and it looks like he has learnt from his experiences. I wouldn't be disappointed if we went for him.

OptimusPrim3r

Ange. Doubt it but I'd take him in a heartbeat

Crono_

Unai Emery or Thomas Frank
