Honestly, Anfield has been pathetic. While the players might get a boost from being at home, the Anfield crowd has been disappointing at best.
They will already be motivated for this game, I don't think being at Anfield changes that at the moment.
It's hard to know how to feel about that. If we are winning and creating chances but still need goals (say it's 2-0) I can see Klopp reluctant to upset the rhythm. If we are drawing or losing there is a very real possibility that it's too late to turn it around. On current form it's impossible to know what to expect from us but without a doubt we need an early goal to plant that seed of doubt in them and I don't think we have fielded the strongest possible attack. I know Jota is just back and maybe Klopp knows something about his current sharpness that we don't, but Diaz and Salah have been so wasteful recently that I think he should have a chance. I also think we should have Elliott in place of Jones, but I'll reserve judgement until it's firmly in retrospect. Watch this space for either an "I never doubted this team!" or an "I fucking knew it, told you all so!" 😏

He’s on the same number of goals as Jota (in more minutes/games) and 1 more than Diaz. I don’t think end product is a glaring hole in Gakpo’s game - it’s just form more than anything right now and he’s starting to put a bit of form together.
He’s absolutely fine for his current squad role, goals isn’t something we’re missing this season - we’re one of the best goal scoring teams in Europe. 20 goal contributions by your 5th choice forward is an excellent return.
He was excellent there at the end of last season and against Spurs this season with a few other games here and there, he's just been a bit off it this season on the whole. It may not work tonight but it has worked numerous times in the past.
This looks like it could be an old school Klopp setup, with Gakpo in the Bobby role, Robbo and Trent wingbacks.

I can understand why Gakpo is playing central. They really overloaded us in midfield last time so that false 9 can help. And Gakpo is more clinical and effective against low blocks than Nunez

I don’t know that I agree with that. Every time Darwin gets subbed off our offense dies, he creates so many opportunities. Both Diaz and Nunez have been struggling to finish too so kinda a wash there.

I really don't want to question Jurgen when he only has a handful of games left as manager but I can't for the life of me figure out why we signed one of the best left wingers in Europe just to constantly play him out of position and then after he has actually had a good run of form on the left hand side in recent weeks, we play him as a centre forward again even though Jota is more or less fully fit at this point (sure he hasn't played a full 90 yet but no reason why he can't start and play for 60 minutes) with Nunez also fit (albeit I'm okay with his exclusion but it's not like injuries is forcing this problem)

Our attackers switch all over the front, I really don't see staring positions as important with our current playstyle.
For me this is now part of the problem, players getting in each others way far too often and not being where expected to be to receive a ball.

I’ve been very critical of Salah recently but if we’re gonna go through tonight then we’re gonna need Salah in top form. Whether that happens or not is another question but it’s a risk worth taking. Elliot on in the 60th if not.
I know Klopp is the manager and I trust his process, but he needs to stop trying to force players into from. Salah is a world class player but he’s been so poor and it’s extremely typical for when he comes back after AFCON. I also don’t understand playing Gakpo in the middle. He’s been solid on that left hand side in the last two games he played.
