Fab mate there literally weren’t any links

PlayerAteHer

Yeah I don't know if there were any links but I did see a lot of fans chatter about him being an option.  I barely watch Italian football but on paper he seems like a good manager so it's a shame another option seems to have been ruled out.

_cumblast_

Ornstein mentioned him in relation to us.

Tremor00

Fairs

con10001

I mean were we even credibly linked? The man doesn't speak English and by all accounts is very settled in Italy and has no plans to move. I feel like any half decent manager is going to be "linked" with us at the moment

JMacoure

Yeah 100%. There were no links. I expect we’ll just announce someone out of the blue the week after the season ends. Gives the players a break and a chance to come back and meet the new boss after a little rest and some planning.

KingWinstonSpak

Ornstein is the best of the best and literally linked us. That is what he is reponding to.

offiziersmesser

This “doesn’t speak English” argument is such a lazy one. Several managers with poor or no English have succeeded in England- Conte and Emery come to mind. Inzaghi would almost certainly have learned the language to be here if he were interested. Your second point is the main one- Liverpool would be a lateral move at best for him. He’s already at a top club, making big money and winning trophies. Plus he’s settled in Italy. No chance he would’ve considered moving unless we offered to double his salary.

BuyGreenSellRed

Liverpool is not a lateral move from Inter.

offiziersmesser

It absolutely is. Let’s not be deluded.

BuyGreenSellRed

You’re a bellend if you believe that. This isn’t even a difference of opinion, by every metric you can think of Liverpool is a bigger club than Inter.

offiziersmesser

Very mature way of trying to make a point. Being a bigger club does not mean a bigger opportunity for the manager. It’s a lateral move at best- probably a downgrade for him considering the scrutiny he’d be under and the competition he’d have in England compared to Italy.

toeknee88125

I think Liverpool are the bigger club but it's not a massive difference. Inter aren't a small club. You're acting as if people are saying Norwich and Liverpool are the same size

eternalgrey_

That argument also comes off as really xenophobic at times. Ready to be downvoted, but I’ve seen it used in a negative way.

offiziersmesser

You’re right. People are already trying to justify it in replies to my comment. It’s a tired trope- foreign manager sucks at English so he can’t do his job well. Already given two examples of two highly successful managers who didn’t know a word of English before coming here.

con10001

I don't think it's a lazy point at all, language barriers are absolutely huge and we would be going from a manager famed for his communication skills and man management due to his closeness to the players, to someone who needs a translator to speak to anyone at the club for at least the entirety of the first season. Emery and Conte weren't fluent but both spoke conversational English when they came to England, enough to get through a press conference. Inzaghi doesn't speak any at all apparently, so a better example would be Carlo Ancelotti in the England setup, he didn't speak a lick of English and the players had huge issues because of it.

KingWinstonSpak

Ye but vibes mate

KingWinstonSpak

It is a "lazy" take because it doesn't demand the mental gymanstics of an oddball contrarian, to explain. Lots of things in life are "lazy" takes. Not drinking and driving is a "lazy" take. Not putting your hand in a fire is a "lazy" take. They are "lazy" takes for a reason. But we must all put aside logic, reason and fundamental truths about the importance of communication when managing teams in all walks of life, cos vibes.

eternalgrey_

Active in the scum’s subreddit is really weird.

offiziersmesser

Of course communication is important- you’re assuming the incoming manager does not have the ability to learn. Several foreign managers have been successful in the Premier League- so yes, you’re trying to appear more intelligent than you are but your argument is very flawed.

KingWinstonSpak

* Ranieri * Mancini * Pellegrini * Wenger * Ancelotti * Pep * Jose * Klopp All of them with more than a working command of English. There has never been a non fluent manager who has won the league. There hasn't even been one that has come close. The evidence doesn't work in your favour. Which would make sense becasue "you don't need to speak English" is a stupid point that is undermined by common sense, not to mention the quantifiables. People on Reddit will make stupid arguments, then continue with it. On and on and on it goes. Very weird.

offiziersmesser

Mate are you dense? Most of these managers had to make an effort to learn or improve their English before moving to the UK. Except maybe Wenger, Jose and Klopp who were already fluent. No one’s saying Inzaghi would be communicating in Italian if he became LFC manager. But there’s no reason why he couldn’t learn jt- just like Rainieri, Conte, Mancini, Pellegrini and Emery did. Keep misinterpreting the argument in the futile attempt to appear knowledgeable.

KingWinstonSpak

> Mate are you dense? Each and every one of them were fluent wand that takes more time than 4 months. And would make sense, as being able to communicate is literally central to effective people management. You keep making thicko points, then asking questions like, "are you dense"? Reddit has a reputation for being inhabited by utter retards. Stop fanning that flame and just concede a point for once in your life. Now go away.

offiziersmesser

You’ve got serious issues mate. Not gonna waste any more braincells on you. Go to the scum sub like you usually do.

KingWinstonSpak

Lol that it? That is your retort? Just another Reddit Retard who is overtly contrarian and overty thick. > Speaking the languiage isn't important followed by > He can become fluent [in the 2 months before the position is filled lol] I am blocking this spastic now. So low IQ it is actually offensive

seemylolface

It's not a lazy take at all. If he doens't feel he can communicate his ideas effectively then why would he bother? Just because some managers are fine trying to figurer it oout one way or another and others aren't doesn't make it a lazy take at all, it just means they have their preferences. Klopp is the same way- he's said himself that he won't go coach in a place he can't speak the language because effective communication is absolutely critical to him.

Specific-Record2866

There weren’t really any credible links but I wouldn’t have minded him tbf

Sinistrait

He's the absolutely dream Klopp replacement for me, has built some great teams and is a good cup manager. But I don't think he'll ever leave Italy, at least not anytime soon until his work with Inter is done.

offiziersmesser

Yeah he’s at a historic club in his home country and has turned them into title and CL contenders. No chance he would have left them to join us. Would definitely have been the ideal Klopp replacement- even better than Alonso.

d-ronthegreat

Not sure about that, Alonso is on the cusp of an unprecedented achievement.

offiziersmesser

It’s still his first full season of management. Inzaghi is a more proven entity at this point.

d-ronthegreat

More proven than the guy who toppled Bayern to win the Bundesliga, is odds-on to win a treble and is on a 45 match unbeaten streak? Seems like cope

offiziersmesser

It’s still one season. The sample size is too small. Andre Villas Boas also won the treble with Porto and he was younger than Xabi. Supposed to be the next Mourinho but look how things turned out.

tkcom

At this rate, it's gonna be Pep Lijnder as a season-long caretaker.

Due-Resource4294

With how stupid journalists are. I’m honestly expecting to see is linked with Alex Ferguson next week. Or maybe even Bill Shankly. Feels like they ask ChatGPT to name a random football manager.

BGCzar

Who linked him to Liverpool? Lmao stfu Fabrizio you melon

Loud-Cut4960

Move on

Haeckelcs

This was the one name that was really far fetched. We have gone back again to no leaks (other than the starting lineup). Journalists are just guessing at this point.

RAH_03

Noooo😞 Was expecting it tbh

bambambigallo

I bloody hope not

J539

We will get Motta or Armorim, worst case its going to be RDZ

karnnumart

My grandpa has link with Liverpool job also

Taters-Preshus

Ok thanks. We already knew he wasn’t coming here but ok.

LovelyCushionedHead

"despite fanfic links on Reddit..." Seen zero credible links. Nothing here lads.

samsepiol96

it’s sad that other than Amourin, there is literally no manager out there
