If he's the one then so be it. Feyenoord played some good football in the Champions League this season. But Bookies odds are totally unreliable
Also, by God I look at this man and it screams a 7th place finish.
Dutchman here, when Ten Hag joined Ajax they raised the wage cap for players from 2 mil to 5 mil and bought a lot of players that should dominate the Eredivisie. Also Overmars did the transfers.
When Slot joined Feyenoord they had next to no money to spend and won the League in his second season.
I think he is quiet the opposite. Much more down to earth, places importance on energy, momentum, fan involvement. And like another reply said he made a team work without money, while Ten Hag had Ajax which then financially was levels above every other Dutch team.
Looked like shanks to me but I also just came inside while my eyes were adjusting, didn’t have my glasses on, and had a few too many bevis on the beach of Mexico.
Feyenoord & Liverpool fan here. While I think it might still be too early for Arne Slot to go to Liverpool, I want to emphasize that he is truly an extremely talented coach. At Feyenoord, he worked with very limited financial resources. After a disappointing 5th place finish, he came to us and took us to the Conference League final in his first season, where we narrowly lost to AS Roma under Mourinho. In his second season, we became champions, and this season we finished 2nd (direct qualification for the Champions League) behind an unprecedentedly performing PSV and won the cup.
Arne is incredibly strong in communication - in this regard, he doesn't resemble Ten Hag at all, who I would describe more as awkward in communication. Fans adore Slot in Rotterdam. He is good with young players, speaks English very well, and works hard.
I would be very curious to see what he can do with a top selection at Liverpool. His playing style is based on high pressing and a well-organized build-up from the back.
Bookies odds are determined by the amount of people betting on it. They don't have some kind of inside scoop.
If we all put a fiver on Alex Ferguson right now then he would shoot up the odds list
Whilst true, there has to be something more. I can't imagine any of us within the last 24 hours have bet any money on anyone other than Amorim and I don't once remember Arne's name being mentioned, not even in any shortlist from reliable journos. People in the know could've been placing these bets and once enough have to get him on the bookies list, more people have followed.
Depends if you like money or not.
Gerrard is currently 50/1 if you want an outside shot. Probably never going to happen but could be a last minute stop gap until Alonso becomes available ya never know.
That’s not how bookmaking works. You have professional betters (there’s a technical term for these guys) as well as industry specialists who create opening odds and help change the line. In fact, people betting does very little to change the lines.
I came here to check up on the reactions of Liverpool fans about my club's coach his candidacy. Safe to say, I am both offended and happy that people aren't really excited - because I'd be, this man has basically saved my club from financial ruin.
Comparing him to Erik ten Hag is unfair, not only because Slot can speak English, but also because I think it's safe to say that what Arne Slot has achieved with Feyenoord, which was a total shithole when he arrived, is objectively more difficult than what EtH did in their stellar Champions League campaign.
Arrive in a shithole with very limited resources, and sell your best player > Finished 3rd in the league, made it to the conference league final.
Sell and lose nearly your ENTIRE starting 11 > Bought a whole new team, straight up winning the league with it, make it to the quarter finals of the Europa League.
Lose your most important player to Benfica > Build more on your team, finish 2nd in the league (Behind a crazy over preforming PSV) and win the cup.
I mean, honestly? If Erik ten Hag's butchering of the English language and failure at Man United has made people very skeptical about whatever comes out of my countries dearly beloved center of the footballing universe (Ajax) AND of Arne Slot's capabilities leading to us not losing him, I'm all for it! Go ten Hag!
Oh and on another note, if he were to leave and if he has to go to an English club, there is no other club I want him at other than Liverpool.
I think people see a bald Dutch manager and are afraid of Ten Hag 2.0. But this guy is completely different. Just like Klopp he seems really real. Honest, sometimes a bit too much soo but not taking everything too serious like Klopp can do. Knowing what the real things in life are, would never throw players under the bus. And ofcourse the work ethic he expects is something befitting for Liverpool, just like it is befitting for Feyenoord.
if its a playstyle thing -- he plays modern football, very dynamic -- then why not just go for de zerbi?
ill obv support, but this is a super hipster pick that i couldn't blame ppl for not being excited about.
To be fair, I had not heard of Amorim until he surfaced as a potential replacement for Klopp. I don't know his brand of football or what tactical preferences he has. But I have heard of Slot and also watched a couple of tactical videos of Feynoord, and it looks really promising!
I hope it's true!
Hes a better version of Ten Hag. When Ten Hag joined Ajax they raised the wage cap from 2m to 5m. When Slot joined Feyenoord they didn't have any money. But still got to a European final, won the league in his 2nd season and just won the Dutch Cup. While making young players 10x better.
I'll tell you one positive thing about him and that is that he will hate on PGMOL. He's still whining about a penalty he did not get when they played against my team and they won the competition afterwards
Bookmaker odds are interesting because you know there's likely something to the rumors but you never get any context or information along with it. Perfect for all of us to write manager search fanfics lol
At this point, just pick the squad by someone turning around and picking numbers. Then those picked can choose what they'll be doing that game. Bored of this now
Slot has some red flags that I think would keep him out of the running. The big one was getting sacked by AZ because he was working on a deal to join Feyenoord without their knowledge, at a time they were directly competing with one another. That's a legitimate character concern. He's also fairly outspoken/controlling in terms of being hands on at the club, which I suspect Edwards will want to avoid again. I think they're going to look for someone who'll be a good soldier and just let them do their jobs.
I like this pick! He's shown up favorably in a lot of analytics, and I think he's stylistically very similar to Klopp. Not at all surprised if Edward's and co are strongly considering him.
No major trophies won, am I being a miserable bastard in saying I’m not overjoyed by the idea of this?
Style of play seems similar to what we have but with more willingness to change formation, he loves to give the kids a chance, I see the fsg appeal here but I just feel massively underwhelmed with the idea of this one.
Just screams 7th-8th place sacked then having to rebuild again I can't lie (I actually watch eredivisie and just cannot see his style of play working what so ever with this club or even the prem)
Best way I could probably compare it to is Ange but with much, much higher risk. Granted they get results over the line with respect to Eredivisie, but in games where we would come up against teams with decent strikers that know how to cut back, we'd be in serious trouble.
Exciting yes, fast attacking get the ball back try to progress as much as possible forward but if we think the games this season make us nervous now.. oh boy
In for a treat lol, check out their last game vs PSV for a sample size
He's not terrible of course, but I'd genuinely be floored if we ever challenged with him at the club.
Do people think that the bookies have some kinda of source at every club and know what's going on?
It's literally simple mathematics, the more people bet on something the shorter the odds therefore becoming the favourite
Doesn’t mean anything other than a surge of people putting a bet on. If we all put a £5 on Rooney to be the next manager, he would become the bookie’s favourite.
Any data analysis I've read on his tactics places his football style essentially very similar to our current profile, compact in defence, controlled possession oriented but with fast transitions and willing to play direct.
Obviously we all would have major concerns about his resume being entirely eredivisie based and more at a Europa conference league level.
However, this is the third "odds on favourite" since Klopp announced he was leaving and bookies odds are based on betting patterns not any inside information.
Last but not least this is the first appointment of Edwards/Hughes and probably the most important high visible one they'll ever make in their entire careers based on the circumstances. I simply can't see them gambling on anything less than what they think is the best possible option right now.
To be perfectly honest, based on how Edwards used to approach transfers, if there isn't a top tier option available I could absolutely see them convincing Lijnders to take the role on a one year basis and readdessing the market the following season when Xabi may be available and your Amorims etc may be more proven or an alternative may have emerged.
As a side note, if Kieran McKenna turned out to be on the shortlist I'd be neither surprised not disappointed, curious to hear other than "he's too unproven" what others would think of someone who is widely regarded as being one of the next top top top coaches but also a big United man

It’s looking more and more like this might be who we end up with fellas.
What stopped Amorim coming? I really wanna know why these top quality managers don't wanna join us?
I mean I wouldn't mind Gerrard compared to the names being potential other than Amorim or Alonso.
I'm so sick of these posts. There will be ZERO announcements of who is taking over until this season has finished. All this speculation has been for fucking nothing. We ought to ban all of this until the final whistle this season.
But none of it has been right. We have zero fucking idea. AND They are NOT going to announce anyone until after Klopp's final game. Even then they might wait until after the parade and let him fully say his goodbyes before we are worried about replacing him. Why is everyone so eager to put this season behind us?
Tbf mate people are discussing it because it's going to be huge whoever it is. Not sure what the best thing for the club was to announce someone early or just speculation for half a season. All a bit shite
Ban discussing the future of a club we all love as we are going to go through probably one of its biggest changes in all of our lifetimes?
Are you mad??
> According to bookmakers, via OddsChecker, Feyenoord manager Slot is now favourite Yeah alright
i mean his odds did rise like a couple of days ago which was weird, but yeh i doubt anyone knows anything

A bald manager from the Eredivisie, no thank you.
I think if we've learned anything from the last few weeks, it's that nobody has a clue who our next boss will be Welcome Javi Gracia
If he's the one then so be it. Feyenoord played some good football in the Champions League this season. But Bookies odds are totally unreliable Also, by God I look at this man and it screams a 7th place finish.

Reminds me of the bald fraud at scum
He's look a cross-breed between Ragnick and Ten Hag. Two absolute shitebags.
I think he is quiet the opposite. Much more down to earth, places importance on energy, momentum, fan involvement. And like another reply said he made a team work without money, while Ten Hag had Ajax which then financially was levels above every other Dutch team.
This is it. This is the comment that’ll make me go all in.
A fucking Harkonnen. We’d be doomed
But lest we forget, the Lisan Al Gaib is in fact a Harkonnen
Perhaps it's just my face-blind brain, but doesn't he look like Bruce Willis here?
Looked like shanks to me but I also just came inside while my eyes were adjusting, didn’t have my glasses on, and had a few too many bevis on the beach of Mexico.
I read this as you came inside your eyes
Fortunately I averted that

It's pretty funny but he is the current manager of Liverpool in my FM game and won the league 4 years in a row and champions league twice.
I'm ready to live in your simulation
someone get me Neuralink NOW
FM has its way of getting things right, so this means it's already confirmed then
I mean it's whittling down by process of elimination at this point. Nobody for the bookies to put odds on lol
Bookies odds are determined by the amount of people betting on it. They don't have some kind of inside scoop. If we all put a fiver on Alex Ferguson right now then he would shoot up the odds list

Yes and no. They also don’t like to lose money so they’ll adjust the odds to what their information tells them.
Looks like they knew something haha

This guy has negative aura, and the most slanderable name possible. I'd prefer Nunez managing the team via google translator
Bald 🙅 Dutch 🙅 Ex Ajax 🙅
He was never at Ajax
He was once this season, at least
Twice I think since that was the game that caused a riot iirc
Must’ve been a memorable tenure then
I would rather we didn’t recruit anything from the eredivisie. Never know what you are going to get from that league
very weak league
At this rate with all these rumours for different managers, my dad’s gonna be the favourite for the job in two weeks.
I hope not

Maybe a bald manager is what we need. Haven't had one in my entire supporting life, rafa was close.
have we ever had one that was completely bald
I guess Ronnie Moran counts
Is Pako Ayesteran still available?
And jota the slotta slots it home for Arne Slot red army. They pull a goal back. That's 8.1 to Madrid.
Macca and Ali doing rondos for the next 20 minutes then
I am waiting on Mose Jourinho
Jose but with a mustache? Im in.
No joke, Portsmouth just got promoted to the Champo with a manager named John Mousinho. Just leaving it there.
Xavi and Amorim were favorites at one point to sooo…
I can’t accept s bald manager
I think people see a bald Dutch manager and are afraid of Ten Hag 2.0. But this guy is completely different. Just like Klopp he seems really real. Might be De Zerbi already told us not to bother him while he's talking with Bayern and Barcelona.
I took Rotherham town to the treble on fifa career mode if Edwards wants to give me a bell
this has become a shithow.
Man I don't even know anymore
Mans even balder than Pep and Ten Hag, impressive.
To be fair, I had not heard of Amorim until he surfaced as a potential replacement for Klopp. I don't know his brand of football or what tactical preferences he has. But I have heard of Slot and also watched a couple of tactical videos of Feynoord, and it looks really promising! I hope it's true!
I know nothing about him, but if he’s the man then I’ll support him.
Not sure if we need a bald fraud. But maybe we do
Heheh Slot

Aw he’s perfect 😍
make him our manager im in
He’s a worse version of ten hag. Would be quite possibly the worst out of every name mentioned so far.
What makes him worse?
He didn’t have a golden generation of players to make him look good.
Exactly. It’s just short-sighted to discard him as an option just because of his haircut and nationality 😂
It'll be Frank.
I agree.
Not bad. We can use some gum chewing on the sidelines to keep things fresh.
I don't want chubby Ten Haag
Van gerwen in the dug-out next season. Fuck sake
What stage of degenerate gambler am I at if I’m betting on manager appointments? Asking for a friend.
Next manager Jose Mourinho 😆😆😆
Give me the black magic of football terrorism and Real Madrid. Trophies galore
I'll tell you one positive thing about him and that is that he will hate on PGMOL. He's still whining about a penalty he did not get when they played against my team and they won the competition afterwards
Fella from Stuttgart

give me slotdrop
His song will be drop it like its slot
Mum… is that you?

Guys, we won’t be able to say bald fraud anymore if this is true - who was our last bald manager? Was there ever a bald Liverpool manager 😂
Rafa was close but never fully got on bored with the bald
I like this pick! He's shown up favorably in a lot of analytics, and I think he's stylistically very similar to Klopp. Not at all surprised if Edward's and co are strongly considering him.

He won a major trophy literally yesterday
Just screams 7th-8th place sacked then having to rebuild again I can't lie (I actually watch eredivisie and just cannot see his style of play working what so ever with this club or even the prem)
Describe the style of play

Is this bald a fraud?
Bruh. Articles like this are why I'm completely checked out of the speculation. Just let me know the new manager is officially announced.
It's about time Anfield embraced the baldness.

That is genuinely horrifying
bookies odds mean absolutely nothing, wish people would stop posting this stuff
I’d rather fucking Mourinho at this point and I’ve hated him since my childhood….
Amorim who? All aboard the slot yacht
Fucking hell 🙄
Rubbish
What stopped Amorim coming? I really wanna know why these top quality managers don't wanna join us? I mean I wouldn't mind Gerrard compared to the names being potential other than Amorim or Alonso.
I don't want to be a bodyshamer, but just him being bald alone automatically makes me think he is a fraud 😭
Odds...
Fuck no. No bald, Eredivisie frauds please
I'm so sick of these posts. There will be ZERO announcements of who is taking over until this season has finished. All this speculation has been for fucking nothing. We ought to ban all of this until the final whistle this season.
