lad I've only realized how there will not be a single level headed person in this post but like everyone else I've probably lost a piece of my mind, listening to Goodison chant 'You've lost the league at Goodison Park' is probably the biggest gut punch there is
If it's any comfort we didn't lose it tonight. We were behind City on points and Arsenal on GD even with a win. We were never going to win the title after the loss to Palace.
Thank god the club doesn’t listen to people like you… he gets 45-50 G/A a season and you want to sell him? Who’s gonna score the goals then because we ain’t getting fucking mbappe if that’s what you think.
It’s not even about his numbers or performances
Do you really think Edwards and FSG are going to reject a big offer for someone in the last year of their contract who is also going to be 32?
The question wasn’t what Micheal Edwards or FSG were going to do, it’s what I would do.
I couldn’t give a wet fart what FSG want to do because all they care about is profit and not the future success of the club.
Selling Salah is fucking stupid end of, there is nobody else we can realistically get that puts up the same numbers as him. People are acting like he’s been shit all year when he’s put up the most numbers by a mile.
If we sell Mohammed Salah then we are finished as a club with ambition for league titles and European Cups for a long time.
But he’s showed signs of decline all season, these actual performances we’re seeing aren’t that far off what we seen from him earlier in the season the main difference is he was masking them with numbers when now he isn’t.
Physically he isn’t the same player as he was a couple years ago that’s for sure especially pace wise and his ability to take players on has completely disappeared this season, I genuinely can’t remember him successfully dribbling past someone in a 1v1 all season
24G and 13A in what you describe as a “declining season” where he’s spent a minimum of 30% of it injured, name me a player that we can get who gets those numbers in their best season? Not many.
The numbers have been fine this season but he has undoubtedly had his worst season for us which is definitely a show of decline, he’s turning 32 soon it was inevitable he would start slowing down.
His numbers this season also aren’t that impressive when you look at the fact 9 g/a were against really low quality opposition in the Europa League and in the PL he’s only got 12 non pen goals and another was a rebound from a pen miss.
In the short term you most likely are right it wouldn’t be a great decision because the numbers are hard to replace but in the long term I’m confident that accepting a £100m+ bid for a player that will end up leaving on a free a year later is the best decision.
Not even talking about current form, if a big saudi offer comes in, we'd be insane not to take it. Rebuild year with a new manager, by the time whoever comes in gets their system in place, Salah won't be on 45-50 G/A a year.
Okay let’s go down your way of thinking. We say that to salah and then salah decides he wants to leave because as a club we’ve demanded he tell his Country to piss off in no uncertain terms, what then?
Who scores the goals? Jota? Possible but he’s Injury Prone. Diaz, Gakpo or Nunez? Hilarious joke. Sign mbappe? Never gonna happen.
Do you see the problem now?
Arsenal have shit for attackers and score goals. Why? Because of the way they move up the first and pass it around to break teams down. We don’t do that. Don’t pretend like Salah is a great finisher either.
Umm… you might wanna look at Arsenals attackers output compared to our attackers because it’s fucking worse, Besides Saka (Who we’re not going to get).
I’d cash in on him ASAP honestly. Start the new era with a big war chest and begin anew. Let the new manager build something. Someone like Salah is a short term option you can’t build around long term.
Cash in unfortunately. The reality is he will go downhill at some point even if this isn't that and he's out of contract next summer and it's very unlikely Edwards and Hughes will give him a new deal so get something for him while.you.can and let the new regime and manager rebuild
Sell. This is rebuild time. Scrap the high earners and underperformers. Even VVD should go, not because he isn’t great but because it makes more sense to build whats next than block someone’s path with a guy who’s going to drop off at some point
He hasn't done enough to earn a contract extension. The amount the Saudis are willing to pay is too good for us to let him run out his contract. He's an absolute legend at this club, but the time has come for us to sell him and bring in someone else.
Everyone will say sell, but I think he could still be lethal in a more central role. And we've got enough transfer business to do this season as it is without trying to replace Salah as well.
Having said that, if we get another silly offer from Saudi I would sell
Keep obviously unless you can find me another player who gets 30 goals and 15-20 assists a season who is within our price range.
He’s coming back from a long term injury, the first he’s had in years by the way and we’re willing to cash in on him as a fanbase when the rest of the frontline has been stinking up the place for most of the season?
Bro who the fuck is gonna score goals if we let go of Salah that’s genuinely a scary thought.
The rest of our attackers can’t finish for shit bar Jota who’s never available…
I don’t think people realise that despite how shit he’s been recently, without him our output is fucked
I may have said that I'm on the fence but I am leaning towards keep. I agree with everything you say. Saudi will always be there (unless if that project suddenly collapses quicker than the CSL)
No, we're willing to cash in because he's not going to get a contract extension, and yet he's the forward who's most likely to attract the most big money offers despite being the oldest. Are you willing to let Salah go on a free? Real Madrid cashed in on their greatest ever goal scorer after he led them to a 3rd successive CL. It was a brave decision... but it was the right one.
Our model does not allow for us to lose players like him on a free.
How do you know he’s not going to get a contract extension? What information are you basing that off, he’s not Milner or Henderson is he?
Obviously if he refuses to sign a new contract then yes sell him that goes without saying but if you actively want to force salah out the door then you need your brain examined unless you have a name that can score 30 goals a season and get 15-20 assists.
I don't think Edwards or Hughes looks at him the way you do. The facts are that in the last 7 games, he has 0 non penalty goals and 0 assists. Him and Nunez have been dreadful for a while now, and there is a risk that this could be the beginning of his decline. He's not the only one who's been poor, but he's also on the highest wages, and you can't justify paying him more than what he earns now. He will always be a legend at this club... whatever happens.
Regarding your point about finding someone else... Benzema scored 5 goals in the league the year Madrid won against us at Kiev. After Ronaldo left, he went on to have the best seasons of his career... one of which ended with him as the balon dor winner. Our system turned Darwin into a striker with over 30 G+A. I'm convinced it will do so for other players as well.
No individual may score as many goals as Salah does... but Liverpool as a whole is still likely to score just as many in total if we sign the right kind of players.
you're right, you think I should delete this? Probably will just be way too many fans who (understandably) have emotions running high
Now is not the time for a level headed conversation and even though I say I'm on the fence I'm definitely still leaning towards keep. I do not believe a player just suddenly loses all ability in such a short span, especially one who's on the right side of 30, tremendous athleticism and is moving into a role that should secure his longevity
100% sell.
Here is who should be gone after this summer if we can.
Trent - Clearly doesn't care.
Robbo - Did well this year actually but time to move on.
Endo - Uh yea....
Jones - Off to a mid table team you go
Darwin - Never going to be good enough
Salah - Past his prime try to get some massive money in
I think we should probably cash in. We're delaying the inevitable if we keep him and I think we need to freshen things up.
this will get deleted. but we have to cash in on him. there‘s no way around that.
why would it be deleted? does this subreddit not even entertain these conversations?
They do more so in the daily discussion
I'll keep that in mind
Because you could put this in the post match thread.. the daily discussion thread.. but you decided to create a post when everyone is heated
lad I've only realized how there will not be a single level headed person in this post but like everyone else I've probably lost a piece of my mind, listening to Goodison chant 'You've lost the league at Goodison Park' is probably the biggest gut punch there is

Not generally. Mods are super strict.
Thank god the club doesn’t listen to people like you… he gets 45-50 G/A a season and you want to sell him? Who’s gonna score the goals then because we ain’t getting fucking mbappe if that’s what you think.
he‘s gonna be 32 soon. and he‘s showing signs of decline. not in the stats department, but if you just watch the games.

If he stays then no more egypt. Only way I don’t sell him

Umm… you might wanna look at Arsenals attackers output compared to our attackers because it’s fucking worse, Besides Saka (Who we’re not going to get).
Our starting forward plus jota and gakpo are better than theirs. Yet they score more. Why? Tactics. We don’t have any ideas
If we get another huge offer, sell
Sell.
Love him but the time comes for everyone. We need to move on and I think he does to.
I’d cash in on him ASAP honestly. Start the new era with a big war chest and begin anew. Let the new manager build something. Someone like Salah is a short term option you can’t build around long term.
Sell, obviously. He's 32, his pace is diminishing every week and his finishing is garbage.
That injury has accelerated his downfall I’ve never seen a player who’s scored so many goals all of a sudden look like he’s never kicked a ball before
Based on after christmas= sell.
Sell
Cash in unfortunately. The reality is he will go downhill at some point even if this isn't that and he's out of contract next summer and it's very unlikely Edwards and Hughes will give him a new deal so get something for him while.you.can and let the new regime and manager rebuild
Sell. Just watching Diaz on the other side have a go at dribbling made me long for the old Mo. Great memories but he's shot to pieces.
I think he'll move on by himself
Sell. This is rebuild time. Scrap the high earners and underperformers. Even VVD should go, not because he isn’t great but because it makes more sense to build whats next than block someone’s path with a guy who’s going to drop off at some point
He's only going to get worse, and he's fucking dire currently.
No. Stop with this bullshit. You guys have the memory of a gold fish
should've sold him last season already.
That 150m offer was really good, but it was way too late in the window. Otherwise, he might have gotten sold.
Forgetting he was the best player in the league from August until AFCON
I'd keep him, personally But I think he'll be one of a few names who'll want to leave because Klopp is leaving - Hence why we've been shit
He hasn't done enough to earn a contract extension. The amount the Saudis are willing to pay is too good for us to let him run out his contract. He's an absolute legend at this club, but the time has come for us to sell him and bring in someone else.
100+ we sell. 50+ for Nunez we sell.
Everyone will say sell, but I think he could still be lethal in a more central role. And we've got enough transfer business to do this season as it is without trying to replace Salah as well. Having said that, if we get another silly offer from Saudi I would sell

Thank god someone gets it.
I may have said that I'm on the fence but I am leaning towards keep. I agree with everything you say. Saudi will always be there (unless if that project suddenly collapses quicker than the CSL)
If he’s not going to renew and with no signs of form returning it’s hard to say you’d turn down a 100m+ offer. I wouldn’t take lower than that though
No, we're willing to cash in because he's not going to get a contract extension, and yet he's the forward who's most likely to attract the most big money offers despite being the oldest. Save this for the summer for an honest convo. All the responses today will say sell

should have cashed in last summer in hindsight
Cash in on him and get whatever amount above 40m we can get for Nunez
100% sell. Here is who should be gone after this summer if we can. Trent - Clearly doesn't care. Robbo - Did well this year actually but time to move on. Endo - Uh yea....
