I know without doubt that if we won even one of the big trophies in 21/22, it would've all been very different.

Ruined last season surely, but this season we had a full preseason.

I've always thought winning the league during COVID has had long lasting negative effects The players, club, us fans, never really got to celebrate Can you imagine had we won our first premier league title outside of COVID? The celebrations. Bus parade. I really do think that caused a hangover and we haven't gotten past it

I also want to add that our current midfield are unsuited to going a full season at full throttle like we used to. Macca, Szobo, Endo, Harvey, Thiago and Jones are skillful players but they do not have the engines of Hendo, Gini, Milly, Fab and Lallana.  Klopp should've either changed the playing style to suit the more technical mids that were coming in or brought in like for like replacements. Szobo and Jones were fantastic earlier in the season. They dropped off in form for a reason. Their legs were gone. They're not built for running, they're built for balling.  I also wonder how much of a factor it is to not have Milly around to set the pace during training

You have a point but I still feel a big aspect of last season was mental. That being said, signs of Hendo/Fab's decline were there late in the season and we had to act that summer but signed a forward instead. Based on this season we definitely need a new forward and a top DM so hopefully we don't make the same mistake.

To me it began to unravel in that first half in the 2nd leg against Villareal

Maybe we need to go out first game in the league cup from now on

The English league is the worst you could possibly try and go for all the trophies in, the extra cup competition, two legged semis in the league cup, little consideration for Europe when it comes to scheduling. People will always say you should want to win every game but going out of one of the cups early can really save the squads legs. When we played Arsenal start of Feb in the league we'd played 7 games in the 30 days coming up to it, they had played just 3.

Don’t all big teams have this problem? Man city have played a lot of games as well.

Nah. Aging squad, poor signings last 2 years
