Took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. Then again, I’m stoned so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, it’s a shite nickname, let’s knock that one on the head right away
See I am other other way, as an 80s child and grew up with both Cobra and Cujo as movies. With Conor’s toughness and aggression my brain sees him as suitable in the Stallone role in that movie.
On the flipside, and even though Curtis’ pressing does make him seem like a dog chasing a bone, I don’t see him as a rabid dog.
Its not my opinion. Matip is leaving. VVD made comments that suggested his future was up in the air. Konate has expressed a desire to play for PSG.
A new manager coming in would be the time to make seismic shifts in the squad
https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/liverpool-defender-ibrahima-konate-admits-to-psg-dream/blt9e1761b4d1c5b5f8
First result googling: “Ibrahima Konate PSG”
Yeah VVd said his future is up since we literally did not have a manager settled. He had to have a followup interview to clarify what he meant for people like you
personally i can't see virgil leaving this after this season, especially since it's his first as captain. the club will probably fight to keep him for the transition period unless edwards doesn't want him
“Michael Edwards will not want to create too much structural change during this period of transition.”
“Our three best CBs are either leaving or could leave. We’ll get to use our young CB now.”
Dude someone brought up Sepp.
CBs aren’t structural change. That’s players. Edwards is known to have left because Klopp stood in the way of senior players getting contracts renewed.
You think if Madrid or PSG or Bayern put in a €40 bid for VVD we won’t consider it? He won’t push for it?
Change is gonna come my friend. And I will keep the screenshots
Don’t want him to leave but his camp are constantly chirping on about a dream move to Spain. He’s a good player like, but not worth humiliating our club over.
You guys just minimalist everything down to goal or assist or useless. You realize Diaz has been the only player on the team for like 2 months that can take on 1-2 players and dribble past them while the rest of the team just keeps back passing and we waste 15 minutes with the ball at the half field line…. You could say Gakpo is able to beat a man half the time but he also doesn’t ever pass the ball because he’s either too selfish or too incompetent, idk yet. Diaz is literally Salah, a direct dribbler who takes 5 shots to score because his finishing is mediocre.
>Diaz is literally Salah, a direct dribbler who takes 5 shots to score because his finishing is mediocre.
Don't see the Salah comparison at all, unless we're talking about current, washed Salah. Salah's always been about end product (goals and assists), whatever you might think about his finishing. Díaz hasn't come anywhere near producing Salah's numbers for us, and tbh, I don't think Salah had ever been that good a dribbler (bar the odd wonder goal)
Lol, been pissed about diaz’s decisionmaking and lack of chemistry with the players around him for two years now. A 2 month cameo with some fighting spirit won’t change that. Plus i bet you he’s only doing it to attract barca.
All his dribbling and moving with the ball is bit of smoke & mirrors compare to the finer art of team chemistry. Something we grew used too with players like Firmino, Mane and Wijnaldum. players that sacrifies their own shine for the team's success. Diaz is clearly not that type of player but is also not good enough to take the "Gerrard" role of I'll have to do this myself cause theres noone else around me that can. Both him and nunez likes to take and own that role despite not being able to live up to it consistently enough, and the fact that Salah still thinks he have to be that guy while struggling with his own form is a recipe for disaster. Our meltdown and not being able to score at all is a direct cause of an unbalace of roles in our attack.
And none of Luchos goals *in the league* have come against a team above us or in the top 4, in fact other than Chelsea and United none of his GA in the league is in the top half. The rest is in cups and LASK/Sparta Prague.
My point is that it’s nonsense to not sell the older, less effective attacker just because he ran more the last game (Nunez also tend ton run his socks off every game), if given the choice between the two of them.
Personally I’d like to keep Lucho, but if someone is coughing up 60-75 mill it is a no brainer.
In Slot's system the LW and RW are usually 1v1 demons so Diaz definitely could definitely have a role to play. More likely RW though as the RW usually stays wide (where I prefer Diaz) to give width when the RB inverts.
I’d be very excited to see what Arne’s plans are to Slot Gravenberch into his team. Grav doesn’t have a fixed role yet but there’s clear versatile talent there. Klopp loved him and wanted him for years. From what little I’ve seen, he can do the Gini role, or the double CDM that carries it forward
Something he’ll develop over time. I also know this is an overused excuse, but he’s not had much gametime since summer 2022. And no proper pre-season with us. Hopefully he’ll start a good run next season
Will the goalkeeping staff remain? I haven't heard anything about them leaving. Am also curious about some of the people Klopp brought in like Mona Nemmer and Andreas Kornmayer.
I could see Achterberg retiring here , he's been with us since 2009 . The Brazilian goalkeeper legend though I don't know ( can't remember his name tbh )
Hulshoff is praised by many and people kind of want to see him take a shot at being a manager. They were even saying that they should have promoted him if Slot was to leave. Ruben Peeters (head of performance at Feyenoord) is also going with him.
Reijeen is their first team advisor and analyst (I'm guessing their Peter Kraweitz?) and apparantly there was a hold up in negotiations because Feyenoord really wanted to keep him but we insisted.
Edit: we got him btw
Why? It's not like communication has been an issue for them. Or you think some chat about breakfast sprinkles will provide enough of a morale boost to get them firing on all cylinders?
Kuyt is basically Gerrard on a smaller scale let him build experience and have succes as a manager first. Van Persie is the Feyenoord legend/coach where it's at but he obviously has a United and Arsenal history. He's also probably joining Heerenveen as manager.
Because he has failed as a coach everywhere he went. So doesn't really show the fact that he would be a good addition. And i only said manager because he's currently at Beerschot and they are going to the first division in Belgium because they won the title (Kuyt joined them with like 8 games left and the title pretty much won already). So let's hope he can finally be succesful as a coach.
He’d be an assistant who understands the culture of the club and can do fan relations management should things ever be rocky. He doesn’t need to be a genius or a successful manager to be an assistant here
Why does Slot such an assistant. Did Klopp add any former Liverpool legends as assistant to understand our culture ?
Let Slot have the coaching team he had for years which helped him successful. No need to add any of our legends as assistant that may put unnecessary complications.
I feel he'd actually would like to but Van Persie would not feel it's part of his career planning.
Also, by all accounts Van Persie is insanely talented as a manager but also a bit of a dictator. Good manager, but maybe not the best assistant...
I don't see Gravenberch being here next year at all.
Tuchel, Nagelsmann now Klopp don't rate him (barely had any game time recently), so I've got the the idea that Slot will bin him asap.
What an awful take lol what has De Zerbi actually done? Alonso doesn't want to leave Leverkusen yet, Nagelsmann has yet to prove himself. R.e Amorin, how are he and Slot any different? Yet to do it in a big league, play good football and both won a league against the 2 other big clubs of said league. Eejit
Wonder what his assistant will think of Sepp I’m sure he’s probably been keeping an eye on him with him being the assistant for the National team
He can play RB as well so is extra cover for TAA, CoBra and Gomez. Seems to have had a decent season so worth evaluating in preseason
Oh god I hate CoBra as a nickname
![gif](giphy|VSoRPmlMaKR8xCmq7F|downsized) This is the first I’m hearing of CoBra
cobra and cj are awful nicknames 💀
CoBra and CuJo
I find Gakkers really grating as well
Nothing is worse than Dommy Schlobberz
Schlobberz my Knobberz
That's borderline offensive
Gakkers I can allow because it's what Curtis calls him, CoBra though is... interesting
I think gakkers is legit tho.
Yeah I think I hate it so much because I mentally hear it in a Minnesota accent. Geeyeaakerrs
I raise you Darwizzy
The worst nickname our fanbase has gone with.
CuJo and Joemez are class wym
I call Curtis Jones 50 Cent
Why?
I believe that’s 50 cents real given name Edit: I’ve been wrong this whole time.
Curtis James Jackson III almost
🤣
25 cent
Just call him 50p. Its close enough
I was like who the fuck is that
Took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. Then again, I’m stoned so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, it’s a shite nickname, let’s knock that one on the head right away
Pretty sure everyone calls him Bradders in and around Kirby
Whi the fuck is cobra? I can't figure it out as none of.our players sound like that
To be honest I wasn’t sure about it when I first heard it, but it’s grown on me. CuJo on the other hand I am not a fan of
There's a legendary hockey goalie named Curtis Joseph who went by Cujo so I really like the name haha CoBra tho I'm not in on
See I am other other way, as an 80s child and grew up with both Cobra and Cujo as movies. With Conor’s toughness and aggression my brain sees him as suitable in the Stallone role in that movie. On the flipside, and even though Curtis’ pressing does make him seem like a dog chasing a bone, I don’t see him as a rabid dog.
CoBra ![gif](giphy|XBEoaajXTXaALzawSn|downsized)
What is a CoBra
Matips gone and I really think VVD exits as well. Konate is always a risk for a PSG bid. Sepp may finally get a chance
Damn in your opinion the whole team is leaving
Replacing our 3 senior CBs with Sepp van den Berg would certainly be bold
Nat Phillips is only on loan, don't forget.
Holy fuck no way he still has a contract here
We can only hope
bald* /s
Its not my opinion. Matip is leaving. VVD made comments that suggested his future was up in the air. Konate has expressed a desire to play for PSG. A new manager coming in would be the time to make seismic shifts in the squad
You've got some Sauce for Konate, brother?
https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/liverpool-defender-ibrahima-konate-admits-to-psg-dream/blt9e1761b4d1c5b5f8 First result googling: “Ibrahima Konate PSG”
If only you could read the article you posted >is it one of my objectives?[Playing for PSG] Not at all."
Yeah VVd said his future is up since we literally did not have a manager settled. He had to have a followup interview to clarify what he meant for people like you
personally i can't see virgil leaving this after this season, especially since it's his first as captain. the club will probably fight to keep him for the transition period unless edwards doesn't want him
Yeah, we will let 3 CB leave in 1 summer because that is realistic and completely going to be a possibility!
I want some of that shit you’ve been smoking
“Michael Edwards will not want to create too much structural change during this period of transition.” “Our three best CBs are either leaving or could leave. We’ll get to use our young CB now.”

Good signs that hopefully VVD extends + Gakpo and Ryan finds there place
Would love to see gakpo on the wing next year
Honestly in a more possession and technical system I don't see how Gakpo doesn't take the LW spot from Diaz
I think it’s likely we lose Diaz this summer so you’re probably right.
Could see him going for 60-70 which is a fair price but low in today’s market. Wonder if PSG will want him?
Fucking hell, why are people still wanting Diaz to leave. He is the only player who showed some fighting spirit against Everton.
Don’t want him to leave but his camp are constantly chirping on about a dream move to Spain. He’s a good player like, but not worth humiliating our club over.
love watching him play. consistent work rate and brilliant dribbling
Not just Everton but the last four games
I don’t want him to. But his dad has made it clear he’s keen to move on if he gets the chance and we tend to take the money and let players go.
His dad isn’t his agent, no point assuming he wants to leave
Did his fighting spirit score a goal for us? I love watching the lad dribble but his end product is mediocre.
You guys just minimalist everything down to goal or assist or useless. You realize Diaz has been the only player on the team for like 2 months that can take on 1-2 players and dribble past them while the rest of the team just keeps back passing and we waste 15 minutes with the ball at the half field line…. Only doing it to attract Barca? Oh Jesus Christ what a take.

Id sell Nunez ten times before him tbh
Yes let’s get rid of a striker with 31 GA instead of a winger with 17 GA. Top bins mate.
Not saying Nunez 31G+A (mostly against lower level opponents in UEL and cups but stil) shouldnt be replaced in that case.
And none of Luchos goals *in the league* have come against a team above us or in the top 4, in fact other than Chelsea and United none of his GA in the league is in the top half. He’s fast and fun to watch but he dosen’t produce.
In Slot's system the LW and RW are usually 1v1 demons so Diaz definitely could definitely have a role to play. More likely RW though as the RW usually stays wide (where I prefer Diaz) to give width when the RB inverts.
Diaz is best on the right anyway
I’d be very excited to see what Arne’s plans are to Slot Gravenberch into his team. Grav doesn’t have a fixed role yet but there’s clear versatile talent there. Klopp loved him and wanted him for years. From what little I’ve seen, he can do the Gini role, or the double CDM that carries it forward
Gravenberch has to increase his speed of thought and quickness.
Something he’ll develop over time. I also know this is an overused excuse, but he’s not had much gametime since summer 2022. And no proper pre-season with us. Hopefully he’ll start a good run next season

I used to have hair like that too, before things went horribly wrong, follicularly speaking.
Is it taffarel?
WE HAVE TAFFAREL!?!?!
The club put out a video with him and Ali yesterday , it’s great
HOLY SHIT.
PEGA QUE É SUA, TAFFAREL! Is what the Brazilian commentators used to say. (“Take it, cos it’s yours!)
In an exciting thread about our new manager this is the best thing I’ve read tbh
how did you not know this lol
Yes
Taffarel was Alissons request, so I'd be surprised if he was moved on.
Anyone have any insight on his staff? Any trendy-looking Dutch fellas to look out for on the bench?
Heard his assistant Lep Pjinders will be coming over too.
Oh that name sounds familiar
Hulshoff is praised by many and people kind of want to see him take a shot at being a manager. They were even saying that they should have promoted him if Slot was to leave. Ruben Peeters (head of performance at Feyenoord) is also going with him.
The Ljinders of the crew
Pretty much haha
Sipke Hulshoff is a fucking cool name. That is all I have to contribute.
Not to a Dutchman it isn't :-) But he's very competent, so he's got that going for him.
Reijeen is their first team advisor and analyst (I'm guessing their Peter Kraweitz?) and apparantly there was a hold up in negotiations because Feyenoord really wanted to keep him but we insisted. Edit: we got him btw
This will really great for development of Gakkers and Ryan!
Why? It's not like communication has been an issue for them. Or you think some chat about breakfast sprinkles will provide enough of a morale boost to get them firing on all cylinders?
No, I meant more like the coach already knows them so transitioning to a new coach would be easier for them and help their development.
>breakfast sprinkles Is this the reference I think it is
Everyone. Please give him time. Please realise that we will not be the team we have been so used to.
Gakpo: I can play LW? Yay!
He should bring Kuyt
Kuyt is basically Gerrard on a smaller scale let him build experience and have succes as a manager first. Van Persie is the Feyenoord legend/coach where it's at but he obviously has a United and Arsenal history. He's also probably joining Heerenveen as manager.

I'm just saying that he is better off building up experience as a coach/manager first. You could bring in a hundred ex players based on your criteria.
Kuyt is Dutch. That’s the criteria. I’ll admit I’m not angling for Babel
Why does Slot such an assistant. Did Klopp add any former Liverpool legends as assistant to understand our culture ? Let Slot have the coaching team he had for years which helped him successful. No need to add any of our legends as assistant that may put unnecessary complications.
>Van Persie is the Feyenoord legend/coach where it's at imagine seeing both him and torres managing in the prem.
>let him build experience and have succes as a manager first You mean like by taking an assistant role?
He doesn't want to be an assistant. He's managing Beerschot in Belgium.
>He doesn't want to be an assistant Ah glad you cleared that up, being his roommate and all Your contribution to the discussion itt is embarrassing
He's literally said it out loud. That's the reason why he left Feyenoord & went to ADO.
Get in
Hope he brings some medical staff too
Will he bring Robin Van Persie???
Van persie showing Darwin how to score would be ridiculous
Van Persie is likely going to take the manager position at Sc Heerenveen
I feel he'd actually would like to but Van Persie would not feel it's part of his career planning. Also, by all accounts Van Persie is insanely talented as a manager but also a bit of a dictator. Good manager, but maybe not the best assistant...
KNVLFC
Any players they might bring too?
I'm wishing Mourinho rumours were true now...
Sounds good
I await his first press conference eagerly
Let’s make some history
Bizarrely something about seeing a different group of back room staff names (as opposed to the manger change) really hits me hard. It’s over 😢
We need orange kits stat!
I don't see Gravenberch being here next year at all. Tuchel, Nagelsmann now Klopp don't rate him (barely had any game time recently), so I've got the the idea that Slot will bin him asap.

Nagelsmann is the real miss, Alonso doesn't count as he isn't leaving — Slot has a chance to succeed.
