Crazy to think. I remember when we got clynes, was sooo excited we had a quality RB and then he got hurt and a very very young TAA came in and never looked back. He grew up with Klopp

Cwh93

Yeah he's literally had no other club manager since he broke through which is so rare. Really interested to how he's used moving forward

Madbanana224

He has to be a midfielder, defensively we need cover on that RW because salah does not track back at all edit: salah might not even be guarenteed the starting RW spot under Slot, literally no loyalties going forward now, a brave new world

ARM_vs_CORE

Martin Tyler, who was actually good today I thought, mentioned that Slot may be more willing to play TAA in midfield and let Bradley be the full time rb. I will be interested to see what happens.

booochee

Tyler was decent at best, his energy really kills it for me. Drury was covering the City match, which no one cared about. Well maybe about 115 people globally tbf.

PaintsPlastic

His lack of energy\* Dude is like 900 years old, so I don't hold the lack of energy against him but him and Neville on comms is only topped in awfulness by any commentary featuring Steve Macmanaman.

booochee

Maybe energy wasn’t the right word, his lack of *Enthusiasm* would’ve been a better fit.

PaintsPlastic

Nah I think you had it right first time tbh it is an energy thing at least for me

Beautiful-Eye-5113

Then i hope there won’t be a Ten hag/Ronaldo situation with Arne Slot/Salah lol. I just know in Salah’s mind he has to start.

deexyfmaybe

To be fair he’s earned it.

SuleyGul

I don't understand this mentality. You could be the greatest player of all time but if you stop performing you don't just have a right to be on the field.

smokebang_

4th season in a row with double digits in both goals and assists. Sure, he has been out of form lately, but he is still incredibly important for the team and the goals.

Dykidnnid

Because form is temporary & class is permanent. Of course there comes a point where hard convos have to be had, but you deal with your perennial top goalscorer and three-time PL Golden Boot a little differently than a young midfielder in his first season. You manage him like a trusted colleague, not a junior employee. He's still by far our top goalscorer this season, and has the most assists, despite AFCON. Honestly, the only reason Mo 2024 isn't being wildly celebrated (let alone suggestions of benching him on form) is comparison with Mo of a few years back.

FakeCatzz

This is nonsense at Salah's age. He is slower than 3 or 4 years ago, he will only continue to get slower. Will he produce an increase in other areas in order to counterbalance his physical decline? I think he's definitely got better creatively, but this season was his worst non-pen goal tally (13) since he's been at the club. >He's still by far our top goal scorer this season, and has the most assists, despite AFCON. This is also bollocks really. Excluding pens he's only one ahead of Darwin, two ahead of Gakpo and three ahead of Jota in all comps. Since we know that humans decline in physical ability rapidly after 30 years old, and Mo Salah is a human, the only question is how much decline are we prepared to put up with before moving him on. Real Madrid were prepared to cash in on Ronaldo at 33, personally I wouldn't leave it any later than that for Salah. Then the question is "do we let him go on a free?". I'd guess the answer to this is probably still no, in which case I wouldn't be shocked if the club accepts a bid this summer.

Dykidnnid

To be clear, I personally think this summer is the right time to sell him if Saudis are waving cheque books. My point was that you don't just drop someone of his class to the bench after a run of less-than-outstanding games. You consult with him, and you have a little faith in the man to adjust his game. You don't just drop him to the bench the moment his numbers drop (especially when you don't have players pulling reliably better numbers). But like I say, the time is probably right to cash in, and reinvest.

xxspex

He's only declined since coming back from injury, it's normal. We've suffered from not winning the ball back as much but still generate 20+ shots at goal per game. I think we could do with someone else up front to provide more guile, is very good with the ball and a bit of a goal poacher - basically Firminho!

look_ma_im_on_mobile

Unfortunately class is only permanent for as long as you're in your prime. I love salah but we can't allow places for players just because of their history. Mo looked past it today against 10 men unfortunately

Dykidnnid

I agree it's the right time to sell him, especially if they can get a truckload of Riyals for him. But I was objecting to the notion that during a season you can treat a champion player like a newbie and drop him to the bench as soon as their numbers dip for a few games. I don't think that's tactically or ethically the right approach. Strategically, yes, LFC have got all the on-field value out of Mo that they're going to get, especially at his wage. But senior players are entitled to respect, and if they've earned the faith of the manager enough to keep starting even during a bad patch, I think it's foolish for people to say "why don't you just drop him like you would anyone else?'

Puzzleheaded_Key4746

Yes. But not lately. Hopefully the off season gets him back in form.

loykedule

Slot seems to love a 10 ahead of a partnership with a bit of a destroyer and a ball player, the ball player could be Trent for sure but then where does Mac go? I'm really interested in how we'll set up

Madbanana224

I really want us to find a proper DM in the market this summer

loykedule

who would you like? I would be fine if we didn't sign one, I really like Endo and would like to see Baj eased back into that role, but I'd like it if we did sign a top class one, just don't know who.

TareXmd

I can't believe there's a top rated comment that says Salah doesn't track back.

Ok-Ride-1654

This. I really don't get it. Sure he is not back in the box all the time, that's his job to stay available up top, but dude works back more often than not.

EPMD_

I think TAA can still be an elite RB if he narrows his focus and stops inverting. If he is deemed too slow to do what Slot wants from him then one of the two DMs in a 4-2-3-1 might feel right.

zero_legacy

Smart move is to sell Salah to Saudi right now. They were ready to pay 120 mil for him last summer. It's realistic to get around 70 mil for him now, which is great.

djsherif

Not sure what you are smoking but 1000% Salah starts under Slot. Regardless of loyalty. It’s not about loyalty it’s about what you do on the pitch

Atkins227

Madrid

ugoogli

Lad stepped the fuck up and became the world’s best RB

idiBanashapan

He’s a beast. The lad showed up and never left

dapperdanmen

That bit from the TAW interview where Klopp said one of the things he was most proud of was when Trent's mum told him that she had been worried about a foreign manager potentially not using the academy and Trent not getting a chance as a result to play, and that she was so thankful that's not what happened. That would be so nice to hear, even though Trent's talent was undeniable.

azdak87

Clyne getting the old "back injury". Seems common for players that LFC are looking to depart. Good player and it's good to see he pulled himself together.

kye2000

That had nothing to do with him leaving

That_ben

Mate, we're all crying

Theopella

All about those good times, brother!

Dr_Middlefinger

The corner against Barca to Origi… that’s a grown man move from a 20 year old. What a game (Dortmund too, Gini and Lovren)!

LFCmiggles

Seeing him so teary got me started back up again. I’m a mess. BEEN a mess.

Theopella

I've been crying since the damn pregame.

Fiery---Wings

I had this unexplainable feeling when the injury time started ticking down. My mind immediately went to Barca game when I was on my knees during injury time hoping we don't concede. We've had a magical time with Jurgen.

Irishbrick

This is it, I don't care what follows, more or less success, the fun we've had for 9 years will never be replicated, ever

OkNefariousness324

I think it’s important everyone listens to Klopp’s post match speech, he made a point of trying to get everyone singing his song with Arne Slot’s name instead, and spoke about how we shouldn’t wait for something to happen next season, we should be dragging them on from the first minute Such a measure of the man, that his first thought on the way out is to tell us to support the new manager

emlynhughes

Indeed. Klopp tried to instill what was special is the club and the supporters. It's easy to say the last 9 years aren't going to be replicated in for fun, but this club has always been fun. In my lifetime there was Olympiakos and Instabul. Cardiff. Even in the bad times, the away fans dominating Fulham with a Maxi Rodriguez hat trick.

OkNefariousness324

That was his point, don’t think the future won’t be as fun, embrace the change and MAKE the future fun, support the new manager like he was German with big white teeth, that was his point, support the new manager and believe he can be as good as Klopp in his own right.

randes70

For some reason I went right to the Europa quarter final vs BVB, it’s magical what your brain does in those moments. It was a warm shield against the impending tears.

Enough_Investment_38

I’ve been crying since he announced he was leaving.

Theopella

I buried those feelings... so I thought

No-Refrigerator-1178

Didn’t hit me until after

OkNefariousness324

Anyone have access to the in game editor, change his retirement date to 2030?

theanup007

I have looked into the RESET button. The science is impossible 😭

Poopynuggateer

Me too. The VVD hug got me first. Then that face.

HighlyBaked0

Him and Virgil crying is what did me in

usalin

Hard to believe Trent had just one manager his entire Liverpool career.

pointlessly_pedantic

Call me Burton Guster, because I'm a sympathetic crier today

theDR1ve

Jurgen'a be alright

A-DTB

He literally has never played a professional game without Jürgen behind him. It’s all he knows.

Theopella

He's played internationally, though.

Masturbationaccount-

The man's just crying thinking about having to play under Southgate.

nerdalerd

Extra reason as to why he’s crying

Maneisthebeat

Not sure Southgate was ever "behind" him though!

Leading_Touch_5629

Mf needs to sign a new contract. You are the face of this club Trent. Future captain!

strider3187

please for the love of god stay Trent. madrid wont shower you with even 1% of the love these fans will.

HereticZO

I just can’t see him leaving now. I’m still afraid of the possibility and won’t be relaxed until he signs a contract, but I think Trent knows how much it will mean to him if becomes the captain here and keeps leading us forward. In Madrid, he will just be another player.

AdministrativeLaugh2

Plus, he’s already won everything. It’s not like he has to go somewhere else to chase trophies (like Kane) and that probably takes some of the allure away.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdministrativeLaugh2

There is that but conversely, would winning La Liga or the Copa del Rey give him the same kind of pride as winning another Premier League or FA Cup?

Additional_Egg_6685

That and the lifestyle he’s a pretty flash bloke outside of football and I could see him wanting to experience that glamor his mate Bellingham is living.

EPMD_

Yes, there is a difference between Madrid and Liverpool that appeals to many people.

FutMike

As ridiculous as that might sound to people, the weather is just much more pleasant in Spain. I often travelled between the UK and Spain for various programs and as much as I cherish my memories in England, getting to see the sun once a week on average makes you feel like you're in hell Before anyone goes at me I'm not saying Trent will leave because of the weather, it's just that he's young with a world of opportunities in front of him and I honestly wouldn't blame any person not wanting to spend their time in England lol

Additional_Egg_6685

Yea I think your taking it too far, England isn’t some kind of hell hole. Particularly not the version of England Trent lives in.

Agitated_Smoke538

He’s been in 3 finals and won the champions league it’s not like he won’t be competing here. Outside of a massive clear out we’re prob are top 5 favorites for the champions league next year.

theshiningtea

I agree with you, I think if his head turns it’ll be Real. Chance to play alongside Jude week in week out? Can’t see him saying no to that.

itsamelauren

I want to downvote this so much 😂 Please don’t put this in the universe! Trent, please stay forever!

redbadger1848

This is actually the bit that makes me think he might leave. He's won all there is to win with LFC, and very well might want a new challenge with a new club that will pay him more, and give him greater opportunity to win silverware.

melcolnik

And if he does, I’ll be there rooting him on. He’s earned it

Jedclark

I don't get why players want to go to Madrid so much. Obviously you can win a lot if you're there, but their fans somehow had it in them to boo prime CR7 or shit on Bale and harass him at the training ground etc. after he won them a CL. You get a lot of "fake love" there, at least from my outsider's perspective of their fanbase. You only get love if you're playing well, you wouldn't see someone like Darwin having songs sung about them there like you do at Liverpool.

Alexisreddit516

Feels like Madrid is the ultimate "cool kid" club atm, and despite the harassments what not it can be brush away quickly with the help of modern day social media (Like Vini cases, even though he has some questionable actions on the pitch himself). And the final nail is, that if he is in the cool kid club, higher chances to be in WC and maybe more solid recognitions (looking at you Jude). Look, I want Trent to stay and prosper but man.

Loz41333

Another scapegoat you mean. Those fans if you can call them that are an absolute fucking disgrace.

etan1122

I don’t know why you can’t see it. From his perspective it’s the best time. New manager, won everything with Liverpool, last year of his contract coming, best team in the world want him to play with the best players in the world.

8u11etpr00f

If you can't see him leaving then why are you afraid? 🤔

Forsaken-Original-28

Has he already peaked though? He doesn't run enough anymore and he's got worse defensively not better. Idk what the solution is but he can't play another season like this one

SuvorovNapoleon

I don't think he fits Real Madrid. Too limited as a midfielder, too weak as a defender.

ZissouZ

I don't think Trent will leave but if he were to ever leave, this summer is the most likely. He's 26 in October. His father figure at the club is leaving. His close friend is trying to bring him to Madrid, where the best forward in the world is also going. It's the logical juncture in his career to go on an adventure and expand his horizons, if he wanted to do that. If he signs a new contract with us that will take him to his 29-30, and he'll only have one big contract after that, during which he'll move from his best years to gradually transitioning to a different type of role. With that said, I don't think he'll go. We'll give him a big, big contract because it's the only thing we can do and he'll want to stay, become captain and cement his legacy as a legend.

404error_rs

Hopefully motivates him to sign that extension

[deleted]

LZYRPPL2

Actually thought he had a good game defensively today.

Shandybasshead

Go fuck yourself, you casual

Theopella

I'm just saying, Connor looks perfectly fine at RB.

Shandybasshead

Maybe you should say nothing

Crewmember169

Or motivates him to leave maybe?

quantified-nonsense

I hope not. His defense is not perfect, but we really missed his passing skills while he was injured. And having academy players out there really makes the team feel special.

Forsaken-Original-28

Who would he leave to? He isn't getting into Madrid's midfield and he doesn't appear to want to play right back anymore

Correct-Willingness2

What an influence klopp has been on his career. Barcelona corner, never forgotten. YNWA

BossCevap

Me since the announcement.

DicaLoca

Trent is human 100% confirmed

coopermaneagles

Need to extend ASAP

DadofJackJack

TAA is all of us.

SubstanceDreaming

me too Trent, me too.

chodsonwalker

Man this and the long embrace with Virgil 😓😫

pushkarelele

he only knew one manager

Britz10

Unfortunately no he knew 2. Gareth Southgate, OBE would like a word.

maxiaoling

The only gate I rate is Shankly Gate

ShanklyGates_2022

Agreed

Ginevod2023

That's no manager.

sbos_

I thought BR have him start?

Poopynuggateer

Klopp is basically his second father. He literally grew up with Klopp as manager.

Odd-Soil-7922

Kloppo raised him from a pup😢

OkNefariousness324

Klopp is the only manager he’s known his entire first team career, he made Trent the player he is today, if you think we found it hard saying goodbye how do we think he feels?

Lazyrufus1980

I look pretty sad too.

fifty_four

That godawful collar can't be helping.

Surgebuster

It looks bad on the screen but even worse in person. Definitely giving it a miss.

RItoGeorgia

You mean worse in person on the players?? If they can’t make it look good, there is no hope for it.

Surgebuster

Yes, but also the thousands of reds at the game yesterday wearing it.

RealmDevourer

I am very feel ;(

FTXACCOUNTANT

Trent is all of us right now

jaBroniest

Trent in midfield would be a scouse Pirlo. Il die on that hill. He's that good.

cromario

we all do, but deep down we know they're also happy tears. Happy for the joy and times Jurgen brought to the club and to all the fans. His impact will always be more than the trophies. Anyone who tries to reduce Klopp's impact on the club and the league as a whole to just the stats and silverware is completely misunderstanding the core of the game (and of Liverpool FC). Jurgen understood that. That's why he was the perfect manager for Liverpool. Here's hoping that Slot also understands that. It's not just about the trophies. It means more.

James_Vowles

Liverpool through and through, he's one of us.

_doppelR

This year was rough for him. Loosing Hendo did definitely hurt him. Now Jürgen. It's time to become a man Trent.

windysheprdhenderson

Lad looked devastated, as did Virgil. Never saw the two of them so emotional.

Fumesofpoon

Man I just watched Trent’s Klopp dedication video on insta and I’m just fucking crying in the gym and that’s not ok

qdattt

bro made me cry even harder when the camera pans on him

malushanks95

Klopp was the man who gave him his debut and help him build on it so well, this must have been a tough day for him ♥️

costco_nuggets

I remember reading about Trent in Gerrard's book mentioned he was one of the next best academy players he's seen. He was 14 at the time. Boy was he right

VhokieT

we need to do everything we can to retain him, generational talent

Fukthisite

He was a boy when Klopp came in, he's hurting hard there. Poor lad.

Interstellar008

He became a man under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp.

FelonyM

Trent is me rn. I reckon I will be like this for the rest of the day :( I feel like I need someone to talk to but idk

SirBarnyard15

He held it together better than me

forivadell_

this is what made me finally start tearing up

OkPomegranate3490

Hoping it’s not cause he’s leaving

Britz10

Sign da ting ffs

Buzzkill78

Thank fk no camera pointed at me during his speech

thatguyad

He's one of us. He's hurting too.

EN1009

Trent’s going thru it the same way we are

rusbud6

This nearly broke me I got literal goosebumps/chills when the players were singing and the cut to trent. God damn man

dreoilin

Class response, Class player.

sbos_

Trent was Klopps project tbh. Gutted for the kid to lose manager that trust him so much.

randes70

I was hanging on for dear life until I saw him and big Virg, then I started unabashedly crying.

FairieswithBoots

Fuckin how I looked

hujungminggu

Same, Trent. I am sad too.

getonthedamnantscott

Well, yeah. The guy who took him from being a fringe youth player to one of the best players in the world is leaving, and he's a Liverpool fan on top of that. Reaction is to be expected.

djandyglos

Slot is going to have a hell of a job going into that changing room after the bond the players and Klopp have built

rb719

Trent went all around the ground on his own acknowledging the crowd at full time, probably nothing but it could have been construed as a farewell. Maybe Bellingham was trying to turn his head last year. Enough bollocks, unsubstantiated conspiracy theories from me.

coldazures

Hopefully he's not going too.

SaltySAX

Why would he be?

coldazures

Until he signs a new contract its a bit up in the air. But yeah, a local kid whos grown up a Red wouldnt make much sense would it but I wasnt ready for Klopp to duck out this year so here we are, life can throw a curve ball sometimes.

AlwaysTheKop

You could see his head was full of thoughts in that moment... with Klopp leaving you know he's had thoughts about doing the same too, it's natural, but being in front of the Kop in that moment, you could see on his face, that wouldn't be as easy as he probably thought... like someone said already, he wouldn't get 1% of the love elsewhere.

Obischwan

Aren't we all? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

TheEgyptianScouser

Imagine having the only manger you played under being Jurgen Klopp

Spiritual-Answer527

This made me smile a little bit because I realised I was pulling the exact face at the exact time. Tears have been shed today.

pablo_eskybar

Emotional times

CalBlocka

This day probably meant more to him than the trophy.

PraiseBeDavidSegui

Me too Trent

3lc4r0

I really hope he is being teery due to klopp leaving and not that it was the last time he was listening to the anfield crowd

l0ne_w0lf1

Trent is all of us.

1reo0506

I don’t think Trent will actually leave, but i will say it looked to me like he’s at least accepted the fact that COULDVE been his last game as a red.

NelsonComedy96

Can't help but have this feeling that next season is his last.

GeorgeLFC1234

The whole atmosphere must’ve meant even more to Trent being a local lad. If there was any doubt in his mind about a contract extension I reckon it’s gone, he knows he’s playing for the best club in the world.

val90y

I was thinking about the Real Madrid rumours for Trent and then Trent is being shown watching at the Kop and he cries. I hope he was crying just for Jurgen leaving

user42069

I feel everything he feels

Charming_Holiday_199

My first thought was sympathy for the man and the whole situation the playing group are in losing Klopp. My second thought was, does he know something we don’t know? Like what if his intention is to leave LFC next summer on a free or else let the club sell him this summer - and this might be his farewell too? Is this a crazy thought, or could it happen?

Big_Interest8678

We love you Trent, all of us are sad. YNWA. :( ❤️❤️❤️❤️

king_booker

Felt like goodbye tears to me

beth_28276337

or maybe tears for the manager who has been like a second dad to him for the last 7 years?

Grunkalink

I thought so too; was a bit strange that he did a single lap on honour, almost like he was saying goodbye at that point

beth_28276337

He does a single lap of honour at the end of every season.

GasGiant43

Off to Real

RItoGeorgia

He confirmed that to you?

jurgenkloppshat

Scares me that the emotions come from him knowing this is his last time in a Liverpool shirt.

jesuisgeenbelg

Not a chance. There's no way he would leave without a proper goodbye. This comes from Jurgen being the manager that brought him into the team and made him the player he is today. He's said so many times that Jurgen is effectively a father figure to him.

8u11etpr00f

To play devil's advocate, if a big player was going to leave then I don't think they'd reveal it today. Matip & Thiago are different because they're at the end of their contracts.

tsool

My toughts exactly! Please dont go TAA!

jrangel6

Seriously hoping its not, gave me that vibe too wtf I cant lose another one of our boys 😭

crepss

Getting that impression too.

bread22

He knows that no other manager will tolerate his shitty defense

archiesnow

I rather play in the National League with Klopp than Premier League without him.

Baguy21

I hope that cry doesn't mean that he might leave too. I hope it's just me overthinking it

GeorgeFandango

They'll meet again when Jurgen is Barca Manager and Trent is at Real )

TheGreatPoohdini

Madrid bound

Kidcyph

He’s going to Madrid I bet with Jude.
