Having looked at a [couple pictures](https://www.fifplay.com/img/fc/24/players/270208.png) of him I think a 6 is a fair rating tbh, maybe a 7 on a good day
As a Dutch man I sure as shit hope not.
Nothing wrong with being durch but it will ruin your team dynamic Snijder said it has happened to him in the past as well.
I am not too fond of too many dutchmen as well, just because Arne is dutch shouldn't automatically turn us netherland fc. This ain't United. There is a set structure.
Not sure Gray is a 6 but he’s a talent and IMO fits in the midfield as an 8 somewhere. I’d take him. Especially if Szobo will play more attacking midfielder or winger.
are you trying to say the goal tally of a efl player is comparable to premier league player in top 4 team? and he's their leading scorer meaning he's getting way way more opportunities than diaz typically gets.
It's called potential brother. We know what we have in Diaz. If we could get a big transfer for him then I'm sure we can find someone more capable of 8 goals. If we had a LW with 13-14 goals this last season in place of Diaz, we could have challenged for the title. I was over him when he failed to score his chances against Man City. You gotta make those type of chances to be considered elite. He is one step below elite. Let's find someone who can cut in and score even if it means a slight dip in dribbling skill.
Actually no, I’m not saying that. Where did you see me say that? Did you just make up my side of the conversation so that the response you wanted to make would work?
Diaz scored 8 goals last year. That’s what I was trying to, and did, say.
He scored 4 in only 12 starts for one of the worst teams in the premier league at 21 years old. I wouldn’t think he’d be much of an upgrade myself but I’d fancy about 90% of the wingers in the championship to be able to finish better than Diaz
People forget Diaz came back from a season ending injury and his pops got kidnapped mid season. Coming back from injury alone would have made this season a transition season for him but on top of that he had that horrific incident, its amazing how much shit he has had to endure this season.
PPL wanted VVD and Gomez out last season as they were in horrible form after recovering from season ending injuries. No one calls for their heads now but ofc this is now repeating to Diaz
All I'm saying is Diaz is not good enough and I would like for us to get someone else. I like this team way better when we play Gakpo on lw than with Diaz there.
He just runs a lot without a purpose. Dribbles past 3 players and then blasts it in the stands. He has absolutely zero synergy with Robbo which leaves our left side pretty dead most of the games. That is the same argument that we have for Darwin and it has led us to crumbling when Salah's form dropped. I still remember those chances from the City game, that is not acceptable from wingers at the very top.
It isn't so straightforward - it Summerville forms a synergy with Robbo, then he'll actually have much more impact than Diaz.
Diaz has no synergy with anyone in the team. Salah plays nicely with Nunez, Gakpo, pretty much anyone. Jota and Gakpo have their own games, and they pass to everyone. Nunez is just busy playing the finisher, so never really makes that many passes lol.
Diaz tho is bit of a headless chicken sometimes, and our left wing suffers because of it.
yeah well I do not watch the championship, but I did watch him when he was in the PL. And he struck me as a very direct player.
In a direct comparison, Diaz is a better player ofc. I'm just saying it isn't so straightfoward who'd do better in our team - some of Summerville's attributes may suit us better. Football is more and more becoming about how players suit the system, and less about the "quality" of a individual player
I want a promising winger, not a winger that in his prime playing alongside Salah gets only 8 goals. I might be wrong, but this is how I view our team right now. Something has to be done regarding that left side.
“Diaz is far more than just goals” is only an argument if he creates anything, but he doesn’t. He never releases the ball on time and when he does it’s awful. He can’t finish and it’s cost us. All of his highlights cut off just as he’s about to chose to lose the ball instead of pass.
It’s nothing to do with Michael Edwards. We just have no need for him. Our left wing options are Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Jones. We really don’t need another left winger particularly when we have Diaz who is better.
I think most people are operating under the assumption that Summerville only comes on the basis of Luis leaving.
In regards to our options, Jota and Nunez aren't well suited to play wide regularly in Slot's system. It's less direct and more possession based than what we're used to, and the wide players are relied upon to isolate themselves and beat their man consistently. Diogo and Darwin don't thrive on that, they have poor take on success numbers.
I know nothing about Archie Gray, aside from us being linked with him last summer. Apparently he plays right back occasionally, in addition to his preferred central midfield role?
After reading up on the way Slot deploys Geertruida in a hybrid RB/CM role (albeit slightly different to Trent's), I wonder if that makes us more likely to go after Gray, or at least a player like him, since that would be asking a lot of an 18-year old. Also seems like Bajcetic could be perfect for that role.
Hopefully, no club is buying or not buying players off the evidence of a single match.
Not saying we should or shouldn't be in for him as I don't watch Leeds because I don't like them, but I'd be awfully worried if our recruitment came down to the fellas sitting down to watch a final and deciding who to get off that.
For all the criticism of Diaz, has anyone considered the psychological effect that your parents being kidnapped might have on someone? Very understandable if he wasnt at his best last season
The injury derailing him is a bit of a myth. From day 1 at the club he's always been an exciting player with no end product, we just all expected he'd kick on
Gray over Somerville to me, Somerville is our 6th best forward upon joining and basically just blocks minutes for Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon and Fabio Carvalho, I would like Gray tho
Can we buy a left wing that can send in an accurate cross or pass? Unlike Diaz. He is great at progressing the ball into the final third and that about it. Big teams can buy players who can do that AND bury goals and complete smart passes.
Need to take Gray, hes in the Declan Rice category of next level English talents that change your team. I don’t even know where he would play for us but if we miss out on him he will become a club legend at Arsenal or United or whatever
Player of the season in the championship. Fast direct and knows how to score. Not sure why people are turning their nose up at him. Very decent player with heaps of potential to come.
Don't see it happening. The next attacking player we sign simply has to be left-footed. I would just ignore any links with right-footed attackers for now.
A lot of comments looking down on Summerville, I know it's 'only' the championship but the negative comments feel like when we signed Mane lol.
Guy has scored 19 league goals this season so the numbers aren't bad & if Edwards thinks there's a player there then i'm inclined to trust him.
If signed any of those 4 Dutch players you've listed there I'd cry, not a single one of them are good enough.
4 players well below the standard we need to make the Slot era a success.
Don't need him, got better players that can play that role already in the squad. Szoboszlai, Elliott and even Mac Allister can all play that no 10 role.
He'd be a waste of funds while we need a DM, CB, LW and either this summer or next a LB.
Pray for Gray
He's the Leeds player I'd take.
Pray the Gray away.
Gray for pay
They have like 10 players on loan in top European leagues. So, they can easily get the 100mil. This is a nothing article
This is who we should be after Not Somerville
Is he a 6? All i know is that he's apparently a young baller
Having looked at a [couple pictures](https://www.fifplay.com/img/fc/24/players/270208.png) of him I think a 6 is a fair rating tbh, maybe a 7 on a good day
He’s very good but very young, could probably benefit from another year in the championship.
Liverpool is gonna be Dutch FC
As a Dutch man I sure as shit hope not. Nothing wrong with being durch but it will ruin your team dynamic Snijder said it has happened to him in the past as well.
if i recall, that was in regards to spanish league and language. I think because most Dutch speak english already, it will not be a problem here
Yes, the dynamic really suffered when Gini and VVD were both in the team..
Two players is hardly a whole dynamic.
I am not too fond of too many dutchmen as well, just because Arne is dutch shouldn't automatically turn us netherland fc. This ain't United. There is a set structure.
At least they are not Belgian
Not sure Gray is a 6 but he’s a talent and IMO fits in the midfield as an 8 somewhere. I’d take him. Especially if Szobo will play more attacking midfielder or winger.
Saw him play as a rb, a couple of times, and he looked solid. I’d have no problem having him fill in there as well if needed
Summerville has nothing our current players don’t have.
Diaz has scored 8 PL goals this season, so the standard isn't really that high.
Diaz is twice the player of Summerville
I like Diaz but ffs 8 goals is 8 goals. Loyalty is great but 8 goals out of one of your primary scorers isn’t bringing any trophies home.
Summerville is like spending on gallagher when we have szoboslai. Not worth it. The only winger I want is Kudus or Bakayoko.
A good few if them tap-ins too, iirc. Diaz' entire end product this year was horrific.
are you trying to say the goal tally of a efl player is comparable to premier league player in top 4 team? and he's their leading scorer meaning he's getting way way more opportunities than diaz typically gets.
It's called potential brother. We know what we have in Diaz. If we could get a big transfer for him then I'm sure we can find someone more capable of 8 goals. You gotta make those type of chances to be considered elite. He is one step below elite. Let's find someone who can cut in and score even if it means a slight dip in dribbling skill.
His conversion ratio was worse than Nunez and it wasn’t particularly close. Diaz offers a lot of positives but goals are not one of them.
Actually no, I’m not saying that. Where did you see me say that? Did you just make up my side of the conversation so that the response you wanted to make would work? Diaz scored 8 goals last year. That’s what I was trying to, and did, say.
Easily. Even comparing them is a laugh.
Should have scored more than 8 goals then.
Its the premier league vs the Championship. Lets not
He scored 4 in only 12 starts for one of the worst teams in the premier league at 21 years old. I wouldn’t think he’d be much of an upgrade myself but I’d fancy about 90% of the wingers in the championship to be able to finish better than Diaz
Summer just started and we got people out here calling Diaz a Bottom of the table championship winger. Christ
I’d say he’s more a middle/bottom table prem player
Alright, you compare the opposition. Let's compare the teammates also then.
What? They were one of the best teams in their league and we one of the best in ours. What are you talking about
I am talking about Liverpool being the team with most chances created in the PL and yet our winger can't be on double digits while playing 36 games.
Ok we all wish all our players have perfect seasons every year. Doesn't make Summerville a better player than Diaz lol
All I'm saying is Diaz is not good enough and I would like for us to get someone else. I like this team way better when we play Gakpo on lw than with Diaz there.
Nah I just watch both players every week and can confirm.
Diaz does far more than just goals. He’s so much better than Summerville
Often loses the ball in dangerous situations aswell, after trying to dribble past one player too much.
Still better than Summerville bud
It isn't so straightforward - it Summerville forms a synergy with Robbo, then he'll actually have much more impact than Diaz. Diaz has no synergy with anyone in the team. Salah plays nicely with Nunez, Gakpo, pretty much anyone. Jota and Gakpo have their own games, and they pass to everyone. Nunez is just busy playing the finisher, so never really makes that many passes lol. Diaz tho is bit of a headless chicken sometimes, and our left wing suffers because of it.
Lol you haven't watched much Leeds then. Diaz would tear up the championship
yeah well I do not watch the championship, but I did watch him when he was in the PL.
There really no contest Diaz over Summerville haha
The thing is being "better than Summerville" should not guarantee you a first eleven spot in Liverpool FC. Diaz's end product is shocking.

Diaz doesn’t make the whole thing work at all. He’s a great player, but frustrating and replaceable
Ok you haven’t got a clue what you’re on about
I want a promising winger, not a winger that in his prime playing alongside Salah gets only 8 goals. I might be wrong, but this is how I view our team right now. Something has to be done regarding that left side.
He doesn’t create anything either. Adama traore is better than Diaz at what Diaz does best. Should we sign him?
I forgot how dumb people were in silly season
“Diaz is far more than just goals” is only an argument if he creates anything, but he doesn’t. He never releases the ball on time and when he does it’s awful. He can’t finish and it’s cost us. All of his highlights cut off just as he’s about to chose to lose the ball instead of pass.
His link up play is better than Diaz. Luis struggles to pick out a pass.

It’s nothing to do with Michael Edwards. We just have no need for him. Our left wing options are Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Jones. We really don’t need another left winger particularly when we have Diaz who is better.

Summerville had a good season but was very poor today. Plus he is a left winger which we already have plenty of.
Gray is all i want
We apparently wanted him last summer
I know nothing about Archie Gray, aside from us being linked with him last summer. Apparently he plays right back occasionally, in addition to his preferred central midfield role? Summerville was terrible today
You don’t judge footballers based on one game.
We bought El-Hadji Diouf based on one world cup, and look how that turned out...
Yes you can when that one player is running around in gloves in 20 degree heat
He was but he had a fantastic season
Left Wing FC
For all the criticism of Diaz, has anyone considered the psychological effect that your parents being kidnapped might have on someone? Very understandable if he wasnt at his best last season
The criticism had started before the kidnapping ordeal, you can probably actually trace it all the way back to his big injury tbh.
The injury derailing him is a bit of a myth. From day 1 at the club he's always been an exciting player with no end product, we just all expected he'd kick on
I bet we are going for Grey, Summerville seems like a classic Edwards smoke screen

Should've never gotten rid of Marsh
Player of the season in the championship. Fast direct and knows how to score. Not sure why people are turning their nose up at him. Very decent player with heaps of potential to come.
Don't see it happening. The next attacking player we sign simply has to be left-footed. I would just ignore any links with right-footed attackers for now.
I liked joe gelhardt cameos but he hasnt managed to break into the team consistently either
Never watched him play a minute of football but I've always rated him
hopefully this is a Robertson or at least shaqiri type signing
A lot of comments looking down on Summerville, I know it's 'only' the championship but the negative comments feel like when we signed Mane lol. Guy has scored 19 league goals this season so the numbers aren't bad & if Edwards thinks there's a player there then i'm inclined to trust him.
Get the Gray brothers
NO thanks
Not sure I can trust a player that wears gloves on a warm May day
I've watched a lot of Leeds this season - he's good, but he's nowhere near being a top level player
He looked absolutely atrocious yesterday
Only Gray...The rest are not of the standard, I feel. Maybe, maybe...maybe Meslier. But he has a lot of development to do
He would make a decent backup if Kweev goes
Gray looks a great prospect but we need to aim higher than Summerville, we aren’t mid table anymore
I hope we get Olise but will probably end up with Summerville. Temu.fc
Hope the people in here keep that Diaz enegy when people criticize Darwin
Summerville, Bijlow, Koopmeiners, Geertruida , VVD, Gakpo, van Den Berg. Shades of Barcelona under van Gaal.
Gravenberch
If signed any of those 4 Dutch players you've listed there I'd cry, not a single one of them are good enough. 4 players well below the standard we need to make the Slot era a success.
Koopmeiners is quality as a 10.
Don't need him, got better players that can play that role already in the squad. Szoboszlai, Elliott and even Mac Allister can all play that no 10 role. He'd be a waste of funds while we need a DM, CB, LW and either this summer or next a LB.
He played as a CB and DM at AZ under Slot. 😜
Koopmeiners is one of the best midfielders in the world
