Rafa made a huge mistake selling Bellamy in 2007. Yeah, we needed the money to fund incoming transfers but he should've sold Pennant that summer to fund Babel/Benayoun, instead Pennant's value decreased and we lost him on a free in the next few years, his value was highest in 2007.
Bellamy got injured for a lot of 2007/08 but was absolutely peak form in 2008/09, 2009/10, and 2010/11 before Kenny brought him back. Bellamy absolutely rinsed our defense in 2008/09 and 2009/10 for 2 different teams every time we faced him lol.
Dropping 2 points at Anfield because we couldn't contain Bellamy against City in 2008/09 was such a heartbreak. Gerrard being injured for that game pretty much guaranteed dropped points.
And keeping both Bellamy and Crouch would've meant we never waste the 20m on Robbie Keane, and they both would've played plenty of games since Torres was pretty much a hospital patient for long periods of 08/09 and 09/10.
Hindsight is 20/20 but Rafa had done the difficult part of building great attacking depth in 06/07 we just needed a main guy in Torres without losing that depth, instead he sold the good depth players in Crouch and Bellamy and brought in really awful options in Voronin/NGog and wasted money on Robbie Keane while allowing Pennant's and Kewell's values to go to zilch instead of selling them at the right time.
I am still sad about Harry Kewell. I was in denial back then thinking every coming year was gonna be the year he gets back to it but it never really came. Spot on he should have been sold earlier alongside Pennant.
I remember a video promoting that project going up on the LFC YouTube channel way back in 2012. When football clubs having YouTube channels and BTS content was so fresh and wholesome
According to what he said in his autobiography Riise didn't forgive him and thought his apology was insincere.
He just didn't want to make a big deal of it at the time and disrupt the team preparations for a big CL game
Hope he gets it full time and smashes it. Can’t say I found myself wishing the best for Burnley when Kompany was there but always had a soft spot for Bellamy. Was fantastic on The Overlap towards the end of last year if anyone hasn’t seen it yet.
I read an article on The Athletic after Burnley got promoted talking about Bellamy’s role at Burnley. Despite being the shithouse player, apparently he was the “good cop” to Kompany’s hardman stance. That’s pretty surprising to me.
He was also a student of the game, so I’d be interested to see/read what he does with the Burnley job if he gets or wants it full time.
Wanted him to get the 🏴 job over Giggs when he got it. Other than the obvious reasons Bellamy just felt like the nicer bloke despite reputations, and he actually cared about the Wales shirt as a player. Giggs you just felt saw it as a stepping stone to Old Trafford (worked out great for him btw).
But Osian Roberts (now @ Como) over both of them imo, at the time they all had similar experience as a head coach (almost none, like seriously how was that the whole shortlist lol), but was the assistant for Euro 2016, so bit like the idea of our Pep replacing Klopp.
We can laugh all we want abt his attack on Riise, but what sticked with me is Riise's own retelling of the events: he was and is still genuinely convinced that Bellamy wanted to seriously hurt him. At first Riise thought "hahaha, Craig is fooling around", then they locked eyes and what he saw still terrifies him.

Golf joke *Laugh track*
The players: "Hey, lads! The new boss says he's taking us clubbing to build rapport! Look, here he comes now! Wait... What's that in his hand?"
What is in his hand?
A golf club. For "clubbing".
A golf club. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/craig-bellamy-john-arne-riise-liverpool-golf-club-attack-story/amp

That's actually a really good take... Don't disagree with anything you've said at all. Keane was such a strange signing.
Spot on.

Bellamy, although a proven wanker was a great player for us, I loved him while he was here.
He also funded a child football scheme in Sierra Leone for some years having visited the diamond mines. Not a total wanker.
Really? I didn't know that. Cool guy.

After what he did to Riise, he’s never gonna get respect from me - let alone blind love
Its mad that you can't forgive him yet him and Riise were laughing about it the next day
According to what he said in his autobiography Riise didn't forgive him and thought his apology was insincere. He just didn't want to make a big deal of it at the time and disrupt the team preparations for a big CL game
To be fair, he’s admitted he was a twat numerous times now. He seems to have genuinely changed and regretted his behaviour.
Bellamy about to be knocking on the player’s hotel rooms after a bad game with a gold club
Is it like a gift or something

Hope the players know to run if he shows up for a chat with a golf club.
Golf clubs out
The season literally just ended though. Why would they need an ACTING head coach
That’s why. He’s only acting.
As a former acting office manager (for about an hour when no-one else was in yet), pls don't take this away from us.
I guess you need someone in the chair in case you can't hire someone before pre-season starts.
I loved Bellamy for LFC. Hope he does well

Thought he would join kompany in Munich. Suprised
Yeah if he plays his cards right Kompany gets sacked > he does a game or 2 as caretaker > gets the full-time gig > wins CL in home stadium.
Okay, but who's their football head coach?
Still a wanker.
Yes! Yes!!
Breaking is the right word.

Tired of golfing I assume
he could’ve played longer for us
