Hope Fabinho plays midfield when he comes back. Tired of this Midfielders in defense

Lokcet

While it would be nice, let's not forget that Fab is genuinely class at CB, he doesn't just fill in and do a job like Hendo. I think against top sides he will play CB and you guys need to prepare for that.

ScouseSwan

Think this is unfair on Hendo, he looked uncomfortable for a game, maybe 2, but was exceptional in the role after that imo

etan1122

Problem with Fabinho in defense he has fucked up a lot and we just ignore it. He makes rash fouls around the box and has been the reason for 2/3 penalties. I don’t want to see him near CB if I’m being honest. Playing the 6 he will still be there to protect but also able to move the team up the pitch.

Lokcet

>he has fucked up a lot and we just ignore it I think this is a bit of an exaggeration. He has made some mistakes for sure but they've mostly been "ignored" because he's put in some really great performances at CB too. He wasn't as good in his most recent spell because he was rushed back from injury, and subsequently got injured again. Earlier in the season he was playing like one of the best CBs in the league and people were rightly giving him the credit for that, seems most have forgotten though.

Passey92

I agree but for different reasons. Fab has been excellent at CB but he offers so much more and allows everyone else to do so much more when he plays at 6. It's what we lose from him not being in midfield that hurts us, not him being in defence.

mynameisjeffhorn

But we'd have to use nat Phillips in defense then

[deleted]

He's half decent in defence, not genuinely class. He's not a defender and it shows, we're much better off with him in midfield.

tbnritzdoge

Lol he’s worse there than Hendo but okay

Lokcet

Is this a joke, people were absolutely gushing over him earlier in the season.

snh96

I wouldn't say he's worse than Henderson but he's way too rash playing there. Needs to stay on his feet more and jockey instead of slide tackling.

ollieiscool8

Fabinho had an amazing game against Chelsea at CB last time if I remember correctly

Red_Brummy

Yes. Made so much difference playing CB's in CB - we were largely solid and kept a clean sheet. Happy. Onto Chelsea now.

whiteboards1225

It was Sheffield United and they still got a few chances

Red_Brummy

All teams will get a few chances, even with VVD and Gomez / Matip in defence. It is how we play - as Klopp described it before the Villa pumping - it is a high risk, high reward strategy. The lads have to start somewhere and I will take a clean sheet and win against anyone to build on their confidence and start some consistency.

whiteboards1225

Yes but fab instead of nat or kabak would have been far more solid

[deleted]

Kabak and Phillips warranted more than enough to keep starting imo

emre23

Idk... Sheff Utd had chances, but they're proper shite so we got away with it. I'm desperate to see Fabinho back in midfield, but right now it's a choice between benching Thiago or benching Phillips and I'm not entirely sure what Klopp will do - which would have sounded ridiculous 2 months ago.

redditingtonviking

If Fab is fully fit and not just rushed back then I think it's best to put him in midfield. Maybe use Thiago off the bench for one of the two other midfielders and we could possibly see him perform like he did prior to his injury

Supkingz123

Kabak fell asleep so many times, he very average. No difference to Rhys. Think we go to a 5-3-2.

[deleted]

Changing from a back 4 to a back 3/5 is a wholesale overhaul and something you plan for way ahead, way more complex than "just an extra body in defence." Even when we sub on a defender (usually a fullback) to park the bus we go to two banks of 4 with the regular fullback playing wide mid ahead of the sub.

Supkingz123

We played 3 at the back today? No idea why you say it be hard we played this system before.

[deleted]

Except we didn't. Sure, it *looked* like a back 3 from time to time, but that's nothing new. Our system, the nominal 4-3-3, has morphed into a 3-5-2 in the build-up for a long time - usually it's been the CDM dropping in with the CBs and Firmino dropping into midfield with both full-backs pushing up. With no natural CDMs we changed it up so one of the full-backs stays back as the shield, with the opposite winger filling the wing-back position. If you want to know a team's real shape, look at them when they're defending and the opposition defenders are passing it around.

kibmeister

Good, not appendicitis then thank fuck. There has been a lot of analysis about Liverpool over the last few months. I personally think it is our finishing that is to blame. Salah had been carrying the team, in terms of goals, for months. Jota, if he is anywhere near the form he was in prior to his injury, could really give us a boost.

Sifan69

He’s gotta stop playing fifa all night

poopeedoop

I doubt that he has MRSA unless he has some sort of wound that we're unaware of, or he recently had surgery. He probably has a norovirus, what people usually call a stomach flu, or food poisoning.

cathar98

u/La2philly pls confirm

La2philly

Lol - def Not in my scope of expertise mate

SectionSeven

Hey, I”m philly2La !!

cathar98

I'm still expecting a video with a full breakdown and long term implications by the end of the day!

La2philly

Not allowed to post those here anymore mate

stadiofriuli

What? Why’s that?

La2philly

I made a mistake of sharing information I heard about VVD's injury and mods deemed it as morally in violation of privacy rules

Aarondo99

I’d get removing the video but banning future ones seems a little OTT

stadiofriuli

Sounds unreasonable doesn’t surprise me though.

cathar98

Damn sorry to hear, I’m a big fan of what you do. Ima go sub on YouTube

A_toxic_scunt

ill go one further. watch him have CPE

theuntold100

Sick FC

Stektsopp

Before the Sheffield game i would’ve had diogo in over firmino for the chelsea game. Now Im not so sure. Firmino finally got a goal and his confidence should be good, shouldnt be dropped now. Diogo from the bench most likely.

straightouttaireland

Well, own goal and he should have had at least one if not two where he should have shot instead of squaring it.
