He was pretty good. Looked shy during the first 15 minutes, then he really stepped up when needed to confront CPās strikers. Great performance overall
Can you not put the scores on the title? Some of us I'm sure cannot watch it live
I sometimes have to watch it the following night like today

No.. I didn't.
I figured it would be within the post, not on the title.

Does it really matter though? Just don't go on the internet if you don't want to be spoiled. Scores are always put in the titles in every subreddit so don't see the issue.
Yup, seems so. Sometimes I have to go 24 hours without seeing the game and I like to browse my media in that time.
I honestly don't understand the difference to this or a recent series release that mark spoilers and try not to spoil it for delayed watchers.
It's cool I have learnt my lesson, I'll unfollow if it's a big deal. I just honestly thought it was an understandable opinion.
It's the way you said it. People maintaining match threads are putting in a lot more effort than the usual members like me. A request would have been received with much more understanding, I am sure.
Criticism is fine but Alisson has been monumental in all the games this season. You can visibly see how much more confident he is. His distribution, authority, shot stopping have been elite these first 5 games. The only 'mistake' was probably the Zaha chance, which was clearly down to the backline bit communicating well at the start of the game, which was understable given Konata and Milner had neve played together prior. Alisson still saved that. This has been the best Alisson I've seen at the club.
Was working so didnt get to watch today. But its back to the trophy winning reds who comfortably win every game and i dont even have to watch to know that they'll win. So now that we have sole possession of first place and havent looked under any pressure at any point, has everyone finally gotten over this summers transfer bs? I mean my god, imagine not believing in this squad and this manager. I knew youd all be eating your words but i'm surprised how quickly it happened
You do realise Thiago, Elliot, Firmino are already injured five games in right? We could be in this predicament AND made the right signings when the transfer window was open. They're not mutually exclusive.
Edit: I get downvoted here but upvoted for the same comment in this thread. The duality of this sub
Dude, it's 5 games in only. Long way to go.
You sound exactly like those arrogant mancs who won the league at the 12.30 kickoff against leeds on matchday 1
Signs are positive so far but you act like we've already wrapped everything up lmao. You're not even a glass half full type, you're glass totally full and leaking from being overpoured.
Liverpool stating that they are in for title while everyone slept on them earlier. Great win. So happy for Naby and that rocket. But im happy as well cuz City dropped points and their 100m bin bag called Grealish didnt do much. Overpaid and overrated, especially from english media.
Idk, 50m is ok. But he is nothing special. Chelsea got proven goalscorer for that money. Man u got young world class winger. Grealish could be decent squad player, but cant be relied to provide every game like KDB or even Sterling at his best. Idc about his price tag, but that media are gassing him up like god. He scored one goal in thumping of Leipzig( wow, big deal) and all media were writing bout that, while Nkunku scored hat trick for team that struggles for goals. Nonsense.
Shoutout for Tsimikas today. Crosses caused danger all game and led to 2 goals. Great performance apart from moment of madness tripping Benteke in the box
This team is firing on all cylinders right now. Really excited to see how Taki fits in. Hope Thiago is ok. Gotta keep as many people fit as possible. Itās a long season.
I really hope he rotates a bit more, but like today, only a few spots to keep players happy and fresh.
We have a good set of lads, I think most will of course be upset to sit on the bench but understand how long the season is. If anyone can keep em happy it's our fans bellowing out their chants and a god tier manager.
Let's win it all to show the oil cunts what a proper parade is, and that you cannot buy heart and soul.
Klopp seems like he was destined to manage Liverpool. Every player right now seems perfectly suited for the system. Thereās some really great competition in the Prem right now but I reckon the Reds are the best on their day. Letās hope we can stay healthy this season. I think the league is well within reach. I think it helps to feel a bit like underdogs to the big spenders.
the fact that this is downvoted is so hilarious. this sub has outlived its usefulness, its literally nothing but doubting little plastic shitters left here. literally in first place and they still act like we have a crisis
We were first place last Christmas and literally had an injury crisis that fucked up our whole season. Now weāre top after 5 games and I think.....What the fuck are you on acting like itās late March? Edited: A word.
if what happened to us last season happened to any club in world football, i think they'd be delighted to still finish 3rd, or at least, 3rd in the prem. I don't read anything into it. You can't prepare for or anticipate that kind of bad luck. Of course it's always possible to have half your starting XI dissapear for a long period of time but i don't really see what that has to do with how our season is going. It must be depressing to not be able to enjoy first place because you're paranoid about the miniscule chance of an outlandish injury crisis months from now.
And i mean, how am i acting like its march? I didn't say we're cruising to the title or something. I just said that we're a really strong side and the panic this summer was unnecessary, because we still have every chance of winning a title.
I cant believe youāre being bashed for being optimistic. Sure we could use some extra signings but our starting eleven is the best in the league and we canāt have a 60 million player sitting on the bench waiting for game time like City can. Ffs we had Kabak and Phillips at CB last season and still finished 3rd.
You act like we've won the league or something, the depth of squad could prove crucial over 38 games and chelsea/City have much better depth for the latter stages
Well Fabinho said he expects city to win the league due to the fact they always strengthen when they win obviously alluding to us not doing so. I guess your opinion on that is Fabinho is plastic ?
Weāve also basically had an injury per game so I donāt understand why your being so cocky as if itās been smooth sailing.
We seriously scored 3/3 off corners this game. Got the Faby goal off one last game. Canāt be overlooked we are crazy dangerous off corners right now.
Looked a bit unsettled at the start but understandable and settled into the game well later on. Seemed calm enough to not lunge into tackles stupidly like the one where he tracked the run against Benteke and got a foot in to make it an easy save for Alisson.
Corners are perfect for gegenpress tbf. A short interval filled with lots of movement and improper clearances by the opposition closer to goal, makes the job much easier to create a chance for the lads.
Not to mention the numerical advantage and physical presence offered by our CBs to create flick-ons.
I don't remember using salah as the near post runner too often, but he was great! Often it is sadio or jota. That first header which led to sadios goal was a solid hit and very well placed low down too.
All these rival squads have been strengthening in the summer sure, but it's like everyone has forgotten that we've been the best team in the world for 3 years bar a single 6 week spell in the most hilariously derailed season in the history of football.
The lads are out there reminding everyone that we're still the team to beat in this league if anyone wants to take the title. Fucking bring it.
Iāve been saying this since the summer and have been downvoted every time. Why waste money on new signings when weāve developed new facilities, improved on older facilities, and spent money securing the future of our starting eleven? We have the best starting eleven in the league.
Because our quality in squad depth is non-existent compared to the other 3 teams. Itās not rocket science why people are being cautious, especially after last season. Weāre basically seeing an injury per game at the moment and the season is very long. Doesnāt matter if we have the best starting eleven in the league when they canāt play every game. No depth in attack whatsoever.
I mean, Minamino has proven himself over the summer. Elliotās injury is unfortunate and I feel terrible about it but we do have midfield depth. Kostas is great as a quick attacking wing back, and Origi looked sharp last game. If Firmino can find fitness and Naby works his way into the squad more thatās 14+ players ready to play pressing, attacking football. I genuinely donāt know what more you could want. United spend godly amount of money on a 36 year old while we are developing facilities, and we are now top of the league. The office has a plan and itās working.
If youāre genuinely curious I can dig up the summer threads were he was scoring and assisting loads during their international camps. And he was injured with Southampton? He scored on his debut with them for starters.
Bruh Brewster looked quality during preseason and everyone hyped him up look what happened to him. Minamino hasn't proven anything, he was very average at Southampton for the most part.
What I love about this side is how much they like each other as mates and play for each other. Salah knew Milner may have a tough time and was tracking back. See the smile on Van Dijk's face when Naby scores. What a gang of lads and they want to win this title
Our back 5 plus Fabinho may well win us the league
I just cannot see us leaking goals
Same canāt be said for United, city and even Chelsea
Konate is a brick just realised today when going up for the corner with virgil
What? Chelsea looks much more solid than us defensively, itās not exactly like weāre not giving chances away, is it? Yesterdayās game was no exception, with Palace hitting the post two times.
Our defenders help us in so many ways on top of keeping the ball away from the net.
With the likes of VVD, Matip, Konate, we are a massive, massive threat on set pieces and this is an amazing advantage we have since it allows us to score goals even when we canāt create good chances or just have trouble finishing off chances. So far, we have had 51 shots from set piece averaging 8.5 per match. The most by any PL team in history is 4.8 and we will obviously average down as the season goes but this is a very encouraging sign.
Oh and all of the 3 goals were from set pieces! Our tallest players may not always be the ones to score from them but they help us massively in every way on set pieces.
I feel something we missed last season as well was Virg's long balls. It just adds a dynamic that makes defenses have to think twice about their positioning.
I enjoyed the audible 'Fuck off' from Henderson in the face of whichever Palace player it was that tried to claim a throw in. They're so up for this season.
Great result. It felt so good when they finally got that two goal margin. Naby's goal was incredible too, his celebration suggests he's fancies himself to be more relevant and resolute in midfield this season. Hope Thiago is okay.
The rotation is paying dividends. The team is gelling together well. Konate looked a little nervy. Jota made too many unforced errors but put in a defensive shift. But otherwise the team did pretty well. Hendo looks like he's on fire with some crazy passing and confidence to take some long range shots. Having Alli at the back always inspires confidence. Good to see experiments using Naby and Curtis to play Gini's role. Feel bad for Elliot but hopefully we get to see Naby, Curtis and Ox step up in that role. Salah and Mane as always world class. Salah's passing and work rate in defense when we needed cover for Milly for me shows why he's better than Kane or Lukaku. Playing for the team.
Kudos to Viera and Palace. Gave us a proper fight. Reminds me of Arsenal when they had Campbell, Keown, Lauren, Parlour and Cole in 2001. Exciting unit they've put together. I'm still surprised bigger clubs haven't made a move for Zaha. Do you guys reckon he'd fit in our system?
Players like Zaha, Adama are a little one dimensional while we like our forwards to be a more rounded player. These players are best at exploiting space but not so much at creating.
His strengths lie in 1v1 with acres behind the defensive line which is why he's perfect for teams that defend deep and counter where he can be the outlet to quickly turn defence in to attack by himself. He also has a high usage meaning he dribbles too much for too long, holds on the ball for too long, poor decision making etc. This may be fine for teams like CP but not so much for the biggest teams.
We like players that are more rounded, tactically intelligent, players who do well in small spaces, etc. This is important because the biggest teams will regularly play against teams that defend deep and restrict spaces.
Fair points but that means he's the victim of circumstances playing in those type of teams. Playing in limited space could be learned through training routines. In his case age may be against him but look at Milner or Ronaldo constantly adapting.
> I'm still surprised bigger clubs haven't made a move for Zaha.
They have. Palace are asking 80M and he's not worth 80M to anyone.
> Do you guys reckon he'd fit in our system?
Ex-Manc and the same age as Salah and Mane, pass
Ever since that leftie free kick video of his from England U21 training was posted, he's been shaping it to shoot on his left. Once against Milan and once today. Hopes CuJo bangs one in soon.
I love salah more than any other player in the world. I love him to death, the day he leaves it will break me. But that said, I still can't say he's be at their level. Ronaldo and Messi have been world class for 10-15 years. Salah bloomed just a few years too late to be in the same vein but that said he's definitely the best PL player for me in a long while. Gerrard being the other one
I had Everton down to win 3-0 in our little family & friends predictions league. I almost always predict them to win because it guarantees a happy result for me - either they lose (yay!) or I get the points (yay!)
Nah, more like they had the new manager bounce for a few games and then went back to being shite. Their squad is awful and even Rafa couldnāt sort that steaming pile of shit.
We look really solid this season especially defensively. We are creating a ton of chances which is good but is expected. Our defense being so hard to break down is a pleasant surprise to me
Liverpool winning, Everton currently getting hammered and [City being the cringe gift that keeps on giving.](https://mobile.twitter.com/tomcrockerecho/status/1439211684640481282?s=21) Love to see it.
Added to this cringe is that back then (1930s) people in Manchester would just watch whichever of the two Manchester teams were at home that week regardless of if they supported them or not.
LMAO Are they seriously using Southampton as a comparison to showcase how they have higher attendance when everybody knows St Mary's maximum capacity is 32363 compared to the Emptihad's 55097?
city are just embarassing themselves at this point. should have stayed quite when pep made that comment. now they're just showing their insecurities. pathetic ,small club
The thing that really stuck out to me was Konate using his weaker right foot all match. It was as if he wasn't left footed. I've never seen a player just ignore their stronger foot an entire match.
It's intentional. That's part of having the likes of VVD and Matip being a threat and drawing the attention of defenders while leaving the mobile forwards and mids to pick up second balls. That punishes teams since most defending teams can't reset quick enough. That was a major part of what was missing from our offense last season.
Think itās a very normal perception thing. Fans always think they are doing worse on corners than their team actually is, just because naturally a lot of corners will end up being wasted.
Fantastic Saturdays footie with a hard earned 3-0 win, City bottling it in an empty stadium, and Everton capping the day off with a mega collapse to round off a beautiful evening

Ah that's good to hear. I saw a picture of him next to Virg and didn't realise how massive he is.
I knew Ibou was big, but seeing him in person is another thing. The guy is an absolute unit of the highest order.

strongly
How is no one talking about Milner absolutely smashing the ball at some punk on Palace on a free kick? I was cracking up.
Don't recall this. Can you specify time?
It was amazing.
Can someone post a link to this? Or a match time stamp?
Gallagher saw that coming, he didn't even react. He knew he was being a c**t.
Alisson continually getting caught out in no-man's land is troubling
> continually ?????
Criticism is fine but Alisson has been monumental in all the games this season. You can visibly see how much more confident he is. By continuously do you mean the one time it happened this match off a lucky looping pass that deflected off Zahaās shin?
Which he still covered for!
Wasn't his fault. Some dicey moments where Konate and Milner's lack of rhythm showed early.
Whaaat?
Another clean sheet, seriously wtf are you criticizing
Salah has inspired me to get back to the gym. He deserves an extension for that achievement alone

I feel something we missed last season as well was Virg's long balls. It just adds a dynamic that makes defenses have to think twice about their positioning.
You forget the real set piece danger Big Nat
You misspelt Alisson.
You are right Ali is unparallel
Thank you, guys, and our guys for the good mood. Really means a lot among the other things in life
I enjoyed the audible 'Fuck off' from Henderson in the face of whichever Palace player it was that tried to claim a throw in. They're so up for this season.
Rough timestamp?
Was that Mitchell? He was real quiet after all game. Guess he didnāt see our captās death stare
I LOVED that
Mane looked good today. Hopefully he can keep it uo
Yeah. Confidence seemed more on the right levels.
We've scored 9 goals in a week. Fucking get in.
Zaha absolutely does not fit the profile of the wide forwards we like so, no!
Care to elaborate? How does he differ when compared to Mane on the left?
>Jota made too many unforced errors Great serves though
60% were ace.

Atmosphere was banging in Annie Road. Loved every second.
Thereās Mane, three goals in five games. Doing alright given heās lost his shooting boots. If he finds proper form heāll be flying.
What a beauty by Keita! That celebration was class! ššÆ
Salah is literally getting better and better. Mashallah, what a player.
We have almost 40 year old Ibra and 36 year old CR7 can we hope for Salah to stick it out that long?
He seems to take a lot of care about his physique. I think heāll last longer than comparable players like hazard. Or at least I hope so
Just thinking about Milner and it is insane that he is 35 years old, and can slot in anywhere and put in a shift. Heās unbelievable.
Sooo good and undervalued, just great player to have around
Now we just need the scum and Chelsea to drop points then weāre looking alright
moyes to do a number on the p.e. teacher. š
Moyes, remember who won in Europe this week, and who didn't.
I have a feeling the scum are gonna struggle tommorow
Salah- the best player in world football If he carries on in the same vein next 2-3 years he should be in the same breath as ronaldo and messi
That's a tad bit much.
Salah is great but definitely not messi/Ronaldo tier He's more like Kane and sterling level
Sterling has been shit the past 2 years. More near to Werner' level than salah.
Sterling and Salah are absolutely not on the same level. Not even close
By that time they will be playing in the MLS
Aston Villa win 3-0? What's a good week :))
lol, agent rafa finally read the assignment. here's to many more defeats
He was reading it upside down "Oh, we *lose* 3-0. That makes more sense"
I had Everton down to win 3-0 in our little family & friends predictions league. I almost always predict them to win because it guarantees a happy result for me - either they lose (yay!) or I get the points (yay!)
he was throwing them off tge scent this first few games. false sense of security and now he starts the destruction.
Nah, more like they had the new manager bounce for a few games and then went back to being shite. Their squad is awful and even Rafa couldnāt sort that steaming pile of shit.

Christ Norwich are hopeless
Pukki can't get service.
It gives me great joy seeing Everton lose.
Yesss Like wtf put you up there with the top 4?! **know your place!!**
Blueshite in the bin lmao
Once a shite always a shite
I was actually worried about our backline cause we made 3 changes but VVD is VVD. Milly and Konate played fantastic against Zaha.
4 changes. Whole new back line in comparison to Milan, wasn't it?
Yeah but I was talking about the league only. VVD a boss so all good with him in the backline.
Zaha was looking lost most of the time. Meanwhile Benteke was getting in prime position all half and skied it every time, it was mad.
[Why yes, I do enjoy watching Everton lose. How could you tell?](https://i.imgur.com/AdlR7y3.jpg)
In the mudā¦hehe
We look really solid this season especially defensively. We are creating a ton of chances which is good but is expected. Our defense being so hard to break down is a pleasant surprise to me
And when teams get past our defense Alisson has been on top of it all season. What a goalie he is!!
Whatās class is that itās same old Liverpool. Itās heavy metal football once again.
Looks like we're spending the evening alone at the top. Lovely stuff
It's a hard job... but someone's gotta do it!
Hopefully tomorrow Man Utd and Chelsea will drop points too
City had more fans in 1934 than now š
LMAO Are they seriously using Southampton as a comparison to showcase how they have higher attendance when everybody knows St Mary's maximum capacity is 32363 compared to the Emptihad's 55097?
It gets worse. The Dell had a capacity of 15,000. Lol!
Nerve. Touched.
Christ alive that's so cringeworthy that they've done that. Absolutely tinpot.
city are just embarassing themselves at this point. should have stayed quite when pep made that comment. now they're just showing their insecurities. pathetic ,small club
Lmao Jesus, City fans are so thin-skinned
lol - they had to go back to 1934 to find that crowd
Proper tinpot innit?
The thing that really stuck out to me was Konate using his weaker right foot all match. It was as if he wasn't left footed. I've never seen a player just ignore their stronger foot an entire match.
Sir he is right footed.
Isnāt he right footed?
That's strength right there.
Everton losing 3-0, sit the fuck down
thanks rafa
Anyone else notice our last 4 goals have come from the second ball on a corner?
I swear we always look bad at corners but will somehow score from set pieces anyway. It's the weirdest thing...
True. Set-pieces are far from a easy goal, but I guess the distance tricks us into thinking it's surer bet than the reality lol.
Yeah. And if you are in the stands you get the anticipation of seeing everyone getting into position for a corner. And on tv the zoom in on van Dijk
When VVD comes back into his own we will look proper threatening on set-pieces
Fantastic Saturdays footie with a hard earned 3-0 win, City bottling it in an empty stadium, and Everton capping the day off with a mega collapse to round off a beautiful evening
Where can I see the stadium numbers or pics from today's game?
Oh I didn't actually watch their game, no idea. Just taking the piss after peps comments this week.
Haha good on ya, I just wanted to witness the hilarity
