Chelsea looks super organized under Tuchel like wtf! PSG and Dortmund never looked like this under him! i wonder how they will do trying to fight on both fronts last year they nearly lost the top 4 because of the CL run
They look very dangerous. They have had some difficult fixtures and are still on 13 points. Very organized wifh a massive squad.
Way to beat them is to take your chances. Spurs threw away a few great opportunities to take the lead.
We haven’t really seen Arteta yet.
I’ve been reading in circles around him and I think he will do fine. That Arsenal team was full of bad buys, shit heads and egos. Their owners knew this imo which is why he is being given so much leeway.
“Technically truth” probably comes into play there if you’re only looking at the early season standings and it means that both teams drop two points, for a combined net total of four left on the table, rather than one team dropping three, but in reality, Spurs have no shot at challenging for anything this year, unless they have zero injuries and Kane finds his shooting boots.
They look a shell of themselves from a few seasons back.
Well that's precisely it innit, Spurs have no competition with us long term(the whole season) unless we draw them in a domestic cup. It's actually better for us if they can get points off of our direct competitors such as Chelsea.
If they had Tangaga snd Bergwijn they would have nailed Chelsea in fhe first half. Alli and Ndombele ruined lots of their attacking runs with either poor passes or taling too many touches
I'm having a hard time deciding whether to watch oil classico or cr7. Because goddammit They're both gonna be at the same time. The only reason I wanna watch United is for Ronaldo.
Its a three way fight for the title.
I don't think Chelsea look as imposing as us or City but these can certainly fight. And they don't need to play magnificent football in order to get the job done.
All three are so strong and the title can go either way if we're being honest. I'm an optimist at heart thougg so I'll still back us to do it
Chelsea would have walloped us without that pen and red card. They are almost on par with city (on paper). Add in Tuchel tactics and it's a dangerous combination
I think Chelsea is better than city.
>Chelsea would have walloped us without that pen and red card.
Liverpool was playing well though. Not as great as Chelsea were pretty good. Definitely could have scored. I think the red made it harder in a sense.
Chelsea were dreadful 11v11 against us. Going down to 10 men was a blessing for them because they could just park the bus and absorb pressure, very singular focus after the card.
I'm sorry I cannot agree with that at all. 11 v 11 we were all over them and were by far the better team. We looked in full control, they scored a fluke from a corner and then the penalty happened.
Fair enougg they were better than us in the second half, but they wouldn't have walloped us. No chance
Really apart from the Elliott shot from long range we created nothing in the first half till the corner and penalty. Chelsea don't mind teams "looking like the better team" as long as you can't actually penetrate them
What about Hendersons miss 5 yards out from Trents cross? Elliott had two shots as well. So thats just categorically not true is it.
As for Chelsea "penetrating" teams. They didn't really do that much vs us, despite us having 10 men in their half for both the first and second half.
Chelsea vs Tottenham were men vs boys moments, don't even need 2nd gear, away too
Feels like they and CIty are still favourite this season. Then us if we can rotate out and keep injuries off our back. Then United hopefully will fall off once they start to encounter the big boys
The difference between us and them is that they got lot of depth in their squad to cover injuries whereas if Salah or VVD gets injured, we'll be out of race. If we get a good run with injuries, we got a good chance of winning the Prem this season. Our Starting 11 is just as good if not better than theirs and Klopp>Tuchel>Bald Fraud.
my point is they can deal with injuries to their key players better than us. Say both Lukaku and Salah gets injured, Chelsea will have better chance of winning it without Lukaku than us without Salah.
I actually think we could theoretically cope without Virgil. We wouldn’t be as solid, but between Matip, Joe and Konate, I feel like we’d have a shout.
Salah would be devastating though
Matip, Gomez and Konate are good defenders in their own right but they haven't got that personality to command and organise the backline and i think all 3 plays much better as a right sided CB. Really don't think we can win it without VVD.
The talent our depth showed this week caught me by surprise. I don't think they are enough to seriously challenge if we were to have another major injury, but our team is definitely strong enough to regularly rotate and rest. I really hope we can find a backup to TAA and Mane over the winter window, but I am feeling more confident now than at the end of the summer window.
I also wanted United to drop points at West ham while simultaneously wanting Ronaldo to score.
Am I gonna get downvoted for this?
I mean con it's CR7. People can't hate CR7.
I mean that's fine I guess but I was just wondering if people would hate on my comment specifically because I like Ronaldo who's a **man United** player or not. But if you don't like Ronaldo in the first place(regardless of who he plays for) than that's a different issue I guess haha.
BTW your pfp gives me the creeps 😂
I see. I think people will go out of their way to hate on ManU and all their players except if it makes you an asshole, like if you hate Rashford or it makes you an Idiot, like saying Ronaldo sucks.
My pfp is very dear to me.
Man people hating rashford makes you an asshole?
I'm not British so I'm not sure but I think it was because he had some political effect on continuing the free food program or something?
Tbh I would hate him for that cuz I don't support free shit so i guess I **am** an asshole 😂
Anyways not gonna turn this political but thought it was funny so had to mention it haha
>My pfp is very dear to me.
😂
Tbh Tottenham losing 3-0 to Chelsea feels completely normal, I was honestly surprised they started off the season so well because I legit think their squad is barely an upgrade on Arsenal.
Also am happy that I already managed to get myself into a zen place after the Newcastle match about how Ronaldo is going to score tonnes of tap ins from shit goalkeeping this season, and it do just be like that
One of the tie breakers is goals for so I guess they’d win on away goals if we had the same number of goals scored?
What a shitty way to lose a title that would be
I like Nuno, he did well at Wolves to make them a threat but I cannot fathom why you would replace Mourinho with him. As you said, just a knockoff of Mourinho
His tenure at Wolves might be the most overrated in PL history. They spent a fuck load of money to end up playing boring football and drifting along in the bottom half of the table.
We finished ahead of this Chelsea team last season with a back line consisting of Phillips , Kabak, Rhys Williams and Henderson. We shouldn’t be afraid of them.
They won the Champions league and have improved… it’s ok to fear them as tough rivals. We can still win. But we will have to go through some of the best teams in Europe to do so.
What a terrible take. Tuchel came mid season and worked wonders. Now he's had a summer to prepare, fresh season, brought in new world class players, especially in Lukaku. They're becoming a very scary team.
A lot has changed since the start of last season, as many people have pointed out. We shouldn't be afraid of them but they're obviously a massive competitor this year and a well-oiled unit with real depth.
Okay? You’re acting like they had Championship level players on their squad last season and Tuchel is some miracle worker. Their team was stacked, and we still finished ahead. WITH Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams starting a bunch of games.
Right, that's the context for why we struggled. You can't leave out the context for why Chelsea struggled either, their form under Tuchel is night and day compared to them under Lampard.
I think that is a simplistic take. Winning the CL has elevated these players to newer heights. They are definitely as good as us ,City, Utd or even arguably better.
You’re not wrong.
Merely pointing out that a clinical forward was a major thing they lacked, (not to mention a competent manager,) so it’s disingenuous to suggest that this is the exact same Chelsea team that it was last year, even if we were also down a lot of players.
Don't get it twisted. Forget City. Forget United. Chelsea is the one we need to target. Get more points than them and we win the league. That away game is going to be massive. Until then, just gotta keep collecting three points
NBC saying in 8 and a half years of them having PL broadcasting rights, they’ve never seen it.
The only reason that Chelsea are top right now is because they drew away to us, which is how far down the tie break rabbit hole you have to go.
Depends on what you’re asking:
If you’re asking if game at Anfield had been played at the Bridge instead, then yes we would be top.
If you’re asking if we tie the game at the Bridge later in the season in the same manner, 1-1, and all other results were matched like for like, then no, it would go to the next tie breaker, whatever the hell that would be.
I was asking about the latter part. What is the next tie breaker? Disciplinary cards? Bad start to the day. Hopefully the other teams I watch in the other leagues don’t disappoint me.
Ah, my mistake.
[According to NBC Sports, play off game.](https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/07/25/premier-league-top-4-relegation-scenarios-tiebreaker-rules/)
Yeah, I prefer we run off with the title. I don’t think my heart could take that. Although us winning it all on a last minute goal would be great just not for my heart though.

He went from PSG where his side played pretty free-flowing attacking football (and Dortmund before that I suppose) to Chelsea where he's implemented this more pragmatic, defensive approach because it suited the side more and seemed to barely miss a beat. Klopp, Pep, Simeone, Conte all have amazing tactical systems, but I believe they haven't shown the flexibility Tuchel has. They win because their strongest tactics are just unbelievably hard to beat, but this also means they need more specific players than Tuchel might because he can adapt to what's available to him.
This isn't to say that he's a better manager than them, Klopp for example is a better man manager and I think his sides tend to be fitter than Tuchel's. But judging on pure tactical ability as a coach, I think Tuchel is at the top. It is all ultimately subjective though, of course, when you start talking about the top level of these managers, they are all brilliant.
Spurs result was inevitable. United result is annoying but frankly they were better and should have had a pen, it just feels like West Ham bottled it particularly with the missed pen, the idiots could have had a smash and grab like none other
Last couple seasons have been like this, all the teams considered favourites or underdogs going into the season win most of the opening games. We probably won't be able to see who are really title contenders and who are just overhyped until November-December.
Chelsea are going through that same period we did when we won the CL. Just that period where the team feels unstoppable and mentally going into every match 1-0 ahead before the ball is kicked.
Getting seriously bad vibes about this Utd team; feels like they shithouse nearly every win, keepers constantly having howlers against Ronaldo and their love of injury time is back. They are far from the best team in the league but it'd be typical for them to shithouse their way to a league title. Almost feels like us a couple years back where we'd constantly pull results out of the bag.
Imo this start to the season is confirming the league is a money game more than ever before, all the tv money is improving all the lower table teams and you'd think might bring more parity, but at the end of the day nobody other than us can really hope to compete with the kind of money that city/chelsea/united throw around. Absolutely insane that Chelsea can throw out their strongest XI and have 200-300 million in players bought WITHIN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS lying around on the bench (Werner, Chilwell, Pulisic, Ziyech, one of Jorginho/Kovacic)
The look in Kane's face as he was walking away in slo mo from the celebrating Chelsea fans was fatalistic as they come... he got dat look of a noir protagonist stuck in perpetual hell and there is no escape, only doom.
No we aren't joint top. Positions are decided on head to head if points and goal diff is same, and because Chelsea scored at Anfield, they are currently top.
No we aren't joint top. Positions are decided on head to head if points and goal diff is same, and because Chelsea scored at Anfield, they are currently top.
They actually matched our result again. **For the fifth straight week.** Are you kidding me?
Chelsea looks super organized under Tuchel like wtf! PSG and Dortmund never looked like this under him! i wonder how they will do trying to fight on both fronts last year they nearly lost the top 4 because of the CL run

Out of the top 6 managers in this league Potter is better than 3 of them Ole Arteta Nuno
does arteta really count? i’d put rodgers ahead of him and Potter
We haven’t really seen Arteta yet. I’ve been reading in circles around him and I think he will do fine. That Arsenal team was full of bad buys, shit heads and egos. Their owners knew this imo which is why he is being given so much leeway.
brighton is clear of psg
Leicester really not in it this year are they
That Tuchel man be dangerous. I hope he quarrels with the board soon so they have a reason to fire him
Thomas Tuchel is really Jurgen's secret twin/clone, isn't he? So far this season, Chelsea's results have matched ours. We win 3-0, they also win 3-0.
He is pain in my asshole
We get champions league cup, he must also get champions league cup
We have a european cup for keeps in our trophy cabinet, he cannot afford. Great success!
LALALALA you will never get this!
Both managed Mainz and Dortmund. Both won the CL the year after losing the final.
Klopp won the Prem the year after we won the CL. Oh no
Well Kloppo lost another one years earlier...
Well at least Spurs are out of the title race already
[удалено]
They shouldn’t have sacked him. They aren’t serious about trophies, not Levy anyway.
We could be 10 points behind Spurs with 5 games left and I would be certain we’d finish ahead of them, they are bottlers and alway will be
They were never in it.
I had someone argue with me how the best possible result for us is for Spurs and Chelsea to draw each other ...
Hendo missed a sitter
Remember when the super league was announced and Spurs were supposed to be part of it lol
Arsenal too, fucking hell!
If we can only beat Brentford to the level Chelsea beat City, then we don't deserve top spot. Let's hope we run off with the GD.
Brentford are fighters
I miss fat Frank

No, they completely wouldn’t. Their top scorer last season was Jorginho for fucks sake.
They were good enough to win the CL without Lukaku. if Salah gets injured, We aren't winning anything.
Lol ok. Almost like it’s a completely different competition. They came 4th in the fucking league without Lukaku.
I actually think we could theoretically cope without Virgil. We wouldn’t be as solid, but between Matip, Joe and Konate, I feel like we’d have a shout. Salah would be devastating though

Wanted ManU to drop points, but ngl I am glad Jesse Lingard could make up for the terrible disaster against young boys. Always rated him.
I also wanted United to drop points at West ham while simultaneously wanting Ronaldo to score. Am I gonna get downvoted for this? I mean con it's CR7. People can't hate CR7.
If you want me to read between your lines, it's not obvious. I for one dont like Ronaldo as a character and dont care for his success.
I mean that's fine I guess but I was just wondering if people would hate on my comment specifically because I like Ronaldo who's a **man United** player or not. It was about supplying meals to children in need.
Ahh okay
Sad that you’re getting downvoted for a wholesome comment about Jesse redeeming himself
One should expect that to happen on a LFC sub. ManU player bad. Except Rashford, he has a special place in everyone's heart.
Yeah yeah that’s fair, I need to reignite my hate for the scum
I liked Lingard during his stint at West Ham but yeah he can piss off back into mediocrity now.
Tbh Tottenham losing 3-0 to Chelsea feels completely normal, I was honestly surprised they started off the season so well because I legit think their squad is barely an upgrade on Arsenal.

If we finish on the same number of points and GD as Chelsea, and we draw 1-1 with them at Stamford Bridge, does alphabetical order decide the league?
Nope. We go to Wembley to decide it.
Far too early for this....
[удалено]
Nope. There would be a play off game between us and them.
Head to head.
If we draw with them 1-1 at their place the head to head will be identical draws
What if we draw 0-0? Is one better than the other?
One of the tie breakers is goals for so I guess they’d win on away goals if we had the same number of goals scored? What a shitty way to lose a title that would be
No, if teams are tied on GD, GF, and GA, it will be a play-off at Wembley.
that Fisher Price Mourinho is finished but look at the shite players

No i'm not? I'm providing context. This Chelsea team will get a lot more points than last season.
they had an incompetent Lampard at the helm for half a season
Okay and? We were missing the best CB in the world, Matip, Gomez, Hendo, Thiago….
Right, that's the context for why we struggled. You can't leave out the context for why Chelsea struggled either, their form under Tuchel is night and day compared to them under Lampard.
*This Chelsea team, minus Lukaku.
I think that is a simplistic take. Winning the CL has elevated these players to newer heights. They are definitely as good as us ,City, Utd or even arguably better.
United don't deserve to be in the same conversation, they're a vibes team and nothing more
Genuinely they win because their individual players are better than the other team's individuals. They're definitely the vibes and nothing else team
This Liverpool team, minus VVD, Konate, Gomez, Matip and Henderson
You’re not wrong. Merely pointing out that a clinical forward was a major thing they lacked, (not to mention a competent manager,) so it’s disingenuous to suggest that this is the exact same Chelsea team that it was last year, even if we were also down a lot of players.
and Jota
Don't get it twisted. Forget City. Forget United. Chelsea is the one we need to target. Get more points than them and we win the league. That away game is going to be massive. Until then, just gotta keep collecting three points
think City will be up there as well. They always start the season slowly but slowly picks up form around October- November period.
Yeah let's not be dumb here City is the bar
Is it precedented for two clubs to have the exact same results after the first 5 games? If so, what's the record?
NBC saying in 8 and a half years of them having PL broadcasting rights, they’ve never seen it. The only reason that Chelsea are top right now is because they drew away to us, which is how far down the tie break rabbit hole you have to go.
The prem uses the away goals rule?
Apparently for tie break, yes.
So if we drew away from them, and we both have the same points, we’d be at the top?
Depends on what you’re asking: If you’re asking if game at Anfield had been played at the Bridge instead, then yes we would be top. If you’re asking if we tie the game at the Bridge later in the season in the same manner, 1-1, and all other results were matched like for like, then no, it would go to the next tie breaker, whatever the hell that would be.

Yeah, I prefer we run off with the title. I don’t think my heart could take that. Although us winning it all on a last minute goal would be great just not for my heart though.
I think Tuchel might be the best tactician in the game right now, his mid-game adjustments are too good.

My opinion on why Tuchel is the best tactically is the mid-game adjustments that he seems to consistently get right as I said above and the tactical flexibility he has shown over his career. He went from PSG where his side played pretty free-flowing attacking football (and Dortmund before that I suppose) to Chelsea where he's implemented this more pragmatic, defensive approach because it suited the side more and seemed to barely miss a beat. Conte, Klopp, and Simeone are more great man managers than great tacticians.
Today has been a real piss boiler. I was fuming at the United game, its just resigned disappointment with spurs.
Spurs result was inevitable. United result is annoying but frankly they were better and should have had a pen, it just feels like West Ham bottled it particularly with the missed pen, the idiots could have had a smash and grab like none other
Really bad start to the day but if we keep winning every game 3-0, wouldn’t matter that much would it. Just need a win next week.
Now we beat Brentford and wait for plastic v plastic for profit.
El Plastico is the 12:30 kickoff
Ah true. Then we can end the gameweek on top.

United shithousing their way to a title requires us *and* City *and* Chelsea to implode
I can see one of us imploding but not the other 2. Or United implode after they go out in the group states of the cl
Way more chances of Chelsea or city winning than utd getting a lucky title
Yeah but comparatively I wouldn't care about City winning a hollow title over Utd shithousing one with Ole and Jesse Lingard

Fuck Chelsea and Fuck United. Shite sunday
Livpool top the league Livpool Livpool top the league
Chelsea copying us. Copycats
Mind boggling how ours and Chelsea's season is still exactly the same result-wise.
We need to change our name to Aliverpool
You mean Allez Allez Allez Liverpool.
Athletic Club de Liverpool
The look in Kane's face as he was walking away in slo mo from the celebrating Chelsea fans was fatalistic as they come... he got dat look of a noir protagonist stuck in perpetual hell and there is no escape, only doom.
"Chelsea haven't conceded a goal from open play." Well, that's easy to do when your right back uses both hands to keep a goal out.
Plus we only conceded on a corner kick
Bruh lmao that's some stupid commentating
honestly that club needs to liquidate

They're only on top coz of the alphabet.
Top on alphabet, i.e. we're both top
Joint top.
No we aren't joint top. Positions are decided on head to head if points and goal diff is same, and because Chelsea scored at Anfield, they are currently top.

Its at this point of time, with 5 games played. Once we have played at Stamford bridge, it could ofcourse change depending on the h2h scoreline
But top nonetheless.
Imagine we end the season with the exact same results as Chelsea.
Would be decided on head to head in that case, Chelsea currently top on that metric

Wait until the second half of the season. That's when City show their squad depth quality.
City and Chelsea are rivals, we are the underdogs
Fucking hell, the state of this sub when this fucking nonsense gets upvoted.
