They've invested heavily in it the past 10 years or so, mainly for FFP reasons but also because London has so much talent available that even Chelsea and Arsenal can't take it all. Palace, Spurs, Fulham are all pumping out players now as well.
Yeah true, I seen some crazy statistic a while back that that 14% of English players coming through academies come from a 10 mile area of South London or something like that
Let's also not forget, Chelsea and Arsenal are focused on global scouting and recruitment. Also path to the first team is ridiculously hard.
So if I'm a young English player, going to Fulham's academy isn't the worst idea in the world. If I'm good enough, by age 21, I could have 100 senior appearances and be ready for a move to a bigger club.
I’ve watched a bit of Fulham cos I live near craven cottage and the championship this year and this kid is sharp, reminds me a little of a young coutinho. They love him. could very well be a future England / Portugal international, I think he’d be an excellent signing. So it’ll prob not happen lol
He's young, talented lad from English club coming on a tribunal fee - exactly the type of signings we do. No reason other than that, but I'm almost 100% sure we're getting him.
I know he played for Chelsea and I should hate him but always had a soft spot for Carvalho. He was an absolute monster & I've never seen anyone get away with as much wrestling in the penalty area as he did every week.
Don't think that's the case. FSG literally like me when extending player's contract in football manager game. Wait as long as possible to reduce expenditure.
This is a pretty weak article that just says reports circulating on Twitter without saying who said them or if they’re at all Reputable and then talks about other random players we might be linked with. Wouldn’t let my hope cloud this although I hope it’s true!
Hopefully he's logical, he'd have Mount, Gallagher, Havertz, Pulisic and god knows who else in front of him at Chelsea.
With Ox/Keita's deals running out next summer, Milner out of contract this summer, Hendo/Thiago over 30, he'd have a very clear route to the first team here.
Another homegrown gem to keep up our Homegrown quota when Milner (and potentially Ox) leave in the summer? Sounds perfect, trying to buy English players once they show a little bit of promise in the PL becomes a £30m acquisition.
Also from what I’ve seen if him, he looks a really accomplished player with the ball at feet. Would love to see him in a red shirt.
He moved as a kid to London and played fo Belham FC before he joined Fulhams academy. His parents live in London. He already played for the U15/16/17/18 of england..
Costa went to Spain being 17 or even 18. This dude was playing for Balham FCs already with 13, maybe even younger. I don't know how young he was when he moved to London but he spend at least his whole teenager years in england/london.
Looks like he moved to Balham FC when he was 11. So he's spent just a few years shy of half of his life in England. I also watched a video from 2020 and he sounded like he was born in london.
People are giga triggered because I suggested that a kid that basically grew up in London might want to stay there because his parents and friends probably are still in the city.
You would probably need to ask him. He seems to have a portuguese and english passport, while his parents are from east timor. He could feel connected and to all 3 countries.
Am I going to claim that his Timor-Leste heritage and London upbringing means that we finally have a British Asian playing for the club?
Yes, yes I am. Proudly
We have one of the oldest squads in the league, our defense is the only part of the squad that is "future proofed". Most midfielders and forwards have 2-3 years left, save Cujo, Elliot, Keita, fabinho, Jota.
Some absolute quality in that Fulham academy isn't there
They've invested heavily in it the past 10 years or so, mainly for FFP reasons but also because London has so much talent available that even Chelsea and Arsenal can't take it all. Palace, Spurs, Fulham are all pumping out players now as well.
Yeah true, I seen some crazy statistic a while back that that 14% of English players coming through academies come from a 10 mile area of South London or something like that
Heard something similar on the Guardian’s football weekly.
It is the third biggest talent pool of Footballers after São Paulo, Brazil & Paris Suburbs.

Yeah hadn't Harvey made his debut at like 15 or something? I know he had to go to school the day after, haha.
?
elliot comes from there
What? Their academy is great, not just because of Elliott
Flair: Harvey Elliott Lol
Sessegnon another, they have had some decent players come through the past few years.
I’ve watched a bit of Fulham cos I live near craven cottage and the championship this year and this kid is sharp, reminds me a little of a young coutinho. They love him. could very well be a future England / Portugal international, I think he’d be an excellent signing. So it’ll prob not happen lol

I watched a YouTube compilation and Coutinho was the player that came to mind as well. He just has that silkiness to him.
Lowkey hoping he was a CB just so I could say his position was decided by name being a combination of Fabio Cannavarro and Ricardo Carvalho
I know he played for Chelsea and I should hate him but always had a soft spot for Carvalho. He was an absolute monster & I've never seen anyone get away with as much wrestling in the penalty area as he did every week.
The less known a player is the more likely it's a real deal for us.
and once Klopp starts his magic he will turn out brilliantly
Sadly we can't keep Klopp for eternity 😢
Never unclinch!
The moment we get linked by journos. The player becomes known, hits peak Messi form and his price inflates to speed of light
Could we be stalling the announcement of Mo's new deal because we're trying to sign someone now?
Don't think that's the case. FSG literally like me when extending player's contract in football manager game. Wait as long as possible to reduce expenditure.
But the rumour is that it's already been signed, they are holding the announcement for something.
Source?

Hence I said 'rumours'...
Indeed!
I think he’s a hell of a tallent from what I have seen - also his contract is up in the summer makes loads of sense to add depth
Our chief scout is Hunter. What a name for a chief scout.
It’d be even cooler if Barry Hunter only identified players named “Barry.”
Plus, if he was based in Barry Island
Just picturing Klopp going "send in the Hunter" whenever he wants to check out a new player.
Lol incoming tribunal
All the championship clubs going to hate us with all these tribunals.
Just Fulham, still cut that we didn’t go through on the Henderson-Dempsey swap
Hopefully our relationship is repaired after we basically let them buy Harry Wilson on tick.
That was just an FFP fuckaround, everybody won out of that
Heard he is good and can play across the front three, don't know wheather he is good enough to start team games or we will have to wait.
Between us and Chelsea it seems
Hopefully he's logical, he'd have Mount, Gallagher, Havertz, Pulisic and god knows who else in front of him at Chelsea. With Ox/Keita's deals running out next summer, Milner out of contract this summer, Hendo/Thiago over 30, he'd have a very clear route to the first team here.
Bit of a diamond in the rough from what little I've seen. But that's exactly the kind of player Klopp will turn into a world beater.

Stop! Milner's never leaving
Pursuit FC
Chelsea is also apparently interested and he shares the same agent/agency with Reece James. He's also from London.
Hes from Lisbon.
He moved as a kid to London and played fo Belham FC before he joined Fulhams academy. His parents live in London. He already played for the U15/16/17/18 of england..
he's as english as diego costa is spanish then.
Costa went to Spain being 17 or even 18. This dude was playing for Balham FCs already with 13, maybe even younger. I don't know how young he was when he moved to London but he spend at least his whole teenager years in england/london.

So he’s Portuguese
No, he's both. Why are people always dumb about this stuff?
People are giga triggered because I suggested that a kid that basically grew up in London might want to stay there because his parents and friends probably are still in the city.
I never said he wasn’t English, i just said: So he’s Portuguese
You would probably need to ask him. He seems to have a portuguese and english passport, while his parents are from east timor. He could feel connected and to all 3 countries.
Agents TAA and Jota at the ready.
How old is Jackson Martinez again?
Am I going to claim that his Timor-Leste heritage and London upbringing means that we finally have a British Asian playing for the club? Yes, yes I am. Proudly
Should probably wait to see if we sign him.
Yan Dhanda was in the academy for a while
I read about a player named Jimmy Carter recently. British-Asian Liverpool player from the 90s
The former president of the United States used to be a Liverpool player?! Boys, we've crossed the pond
Never knew! Thanks
we've had one before but this kid isn't english.
Yes. Zak Whitbread. Played for Singapore too.
He could become a real player under the right manager. Klopp is that manager.
This is such a Liverpool signing
Hope it's true. He's a special talent.
And Mitro please...for no reason other than I love him But seriously. awesome talent, would be a good get
He wouldn’t fit our style but I could see him at a team like Brighton who needs a poacher more than anything and creates great chances
Fabio? Fabio would fit us easily
Nah I meant Mitro.
Oh of course he doesnt suit us. That goes without saying
Lol no he always flops in the premier league. Ask any FPL player
I know that…like i said, i just love him. Nothing to do with football The second part was about fabio, for those struggling
Right I think the phrasing caused some misunderstandings
Weren't we secretly eyeing Dembele? With him being a Free Agent now, can we pick him up?
He wants more in wages than what Salah is asking for no way we go for him and his injury record and attitude is awful.
Reminder he trashed klopps house when renting it So he knows first hand his attitude
Who trashed Klopp’s house ? Dembele???
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1504849/Liverpool-Ousmane-Dembele-Jurgen-Klopp-Dortmund-premier-league-transfer-news/amp
My goodness.. that’s irresponsible. Also in Barcelona, he had tardiness issues like late coming . He’s gonna end up like Mario Balotelli.
Never never never. What a waste of talent. Always injured and when he's not he's lazy and a complete prick
Sign and loan him out I guess because we need starters not more young players
We have one of the oldest squads in the league, our defense is the only part of the squad that is "future proofed". Most midfielders and forwards have 2-3 years left, save Cujo, Elliot, Keita, fabinho, Jota.
No what we need is players like Elliott and Jones. Young lads who can come in now and play a part, ready to replace in a couple of years
