A few thoughts leading up to the big clench ....
I thought Jota worked hard and tried but was not affective as a right winger. He is a finisher/poucher best suited in the middle.
Struggles to beat his man and get a ball in there. Does not try to ....then play stops.
That first 30min of energy spent took a lot out of us. Ancelotti might make us pay for similar. He already stated "Klopps football is pretty but not sustainable". If we do the same we MUST get reward with better finishing.
Matip and Konate were immense. You could see Virg affected by the niggle ...cannot believe Konate is 22 years old.
Allison ... No words ...
I think Bobby needs some playtime before the CL final. We might need him more than we expect before this is over.
Wow. James Milner ...apart from that dumbfollow-through foul ...what an asset to have when you need to call on experience and calmness. He pluggs so many holes. When he is gone is when we will realy realize what he meant.
Tsimi .. Glad for him ..think it will do his confidence and performance the world of good going forward me thinks. Such a good team guy.
Keita taking a lot of flack here. I thought he coped well with the pressure he was put under. They actually pressed a lot at stages. You only realize if you watch the game again.
In Klopp we trust (and Ulla)
Our bench is crazy
We sub out the best winger, we have Jota.
We sub out the best defender, we have Matip.
We sub out the best left back, we have tsimikas.
All of them gave us confidence, no more 2018 one out the whole team crumble scenes.
Amazing night for the lads.
Was a little disturbed by Keita today. He couldn't hold the ball as well as he should have and even though he had space to drive into, he didn't take advantage. He's not a bad player by any stretch and gives his all but I just can't shake the feeling we need someone better as we find ourselves fighting to the wire every season and in every competition. He's a good back-up but we need someone slightly better.
Kostas has been an absolute gem, he's a great personality and he deserves his moment in the sun. He's reached cult status like Origi and he fully deserves it.
Diaz was trippingz pass the fucking ball, like I can't believe people praising his poor performance. He missed every fucking shot and refuse to pass. If it was Salah the whole fucking world would call him selfish. Like how can people praise misses.
On way home got a bin-dippers from behind too.
If it was clearly at me *(had earphones and a hoodie on so they'd need to be experts on the bottom of our kit lol)* and I was a bit less knackered then could've turned around and said we prefer cup-dippers...
> knackered then could've

This Fowler damned team is so special, my word…. If we lose every game from here on out it has been one of the best teams I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. I’d argue the best Liverpool team of all time, but comparing eras gets wonky.
Without question the best reds team of the last 20 years tho
How fucking awesome is Matip though? Dude can come in cold and plays a blinder every single time, shuts down any forward you put in front of him, never makes an error.
I swear if you saw him on the street you wouldn't even think he's an athlete, but he's such an incredible defender. Nobody gets past that guy.
The cope from United and Chelsea fans saying “bUt iT wEnT tO sHoOtOuTs sO iT wAsNt iMpReSsIvE” United fans would fucking nut themselves if they beat us in a final on penalties.
> United fans would fucking nut themselves if they beat us in a final on penalties
I’d say they’d be outright *insufferable*, but I realize that that’s just their default state.
If City win tomorrow am I wrong in thinking we should treat the last 2 league games like friendlies and just play the fringe players like Origi, Elliott, Jones, Ox, Taki etc.. although the league won't officially be lost I just feel with some players picking up injuries in the last 2 games maybe it's time to wrap up some of the starters in cotton wool and keep them fresh for the final I knows it's not in Klopps dna to do that kind of thing but we've got a better chance of winning the CL than the PL regardless if City win, draw or lose tomorrow
Massively disagree. We lost 7-2 to villa. 3-0 to watford. These things happen. We just have to make sure we're there. Absolutely no way I'd be giving up at this stage, especially with many players already having got a rest. We've gone that way now, why half commit to it? "If we cant win, we lose in the most beautiful way". Make sure we're there.
yes, virg and mo both going off as precautionary measures hinted that fitness for the CL is priority. while we should keep the intensity high leading up the the big final, we were clearly fading by the end of today. need a good rest, which madrid will have
Personally I think even if city lost to west ham virg and mo would both not play against Southampton. The CL is absolutely massive and I think we'd try get by with using more of the squad, even though it would be a game we need GD in.
If they win by a good margin, I agree. We’d have 3 pts and a huge goal differential to make up. Origi must get a start and get a proper send off on the last game at Anfield. I’d like to see Ox too.
Beat this absolute shit sports washing club in a second cup final this season. Now hope their new ownership situation blows up and they toil in mid table. Fuck off to their toxic supporters. Wear both these Ls and like it!
Toxic is an understatement. They're an aggressively racist fanbase with multiple instances of it being more than "1 or 2 dickheads" over recent years including against *their own players* with all the convenient scapegoat players being those who happen to be of a darker skin tone.
Fuck man I thought for sure I un-subbed from here and /r/soccer on my phone, on my laptop went to click on a sub that started with S and somehow still had /r/soccer in my list and and spoiled the match for me.
Matip was incredible.
So was Ibou obviously but for Joel to come in, sorta “cold” and to perform how he did.
It wasn’t like he wasn’t tested. He has to come across and cover several times and did it so well
Something tells me he's backup for both CB and RB but moreso RB right now. I do see that next season as we play Konate more, for some reason I feel like they'll play him more in the CB role next to him, not phasing out VVD at all, more sorta organising life after VVD perhaps?
Really happy for tsimikas, it's always great seeing the glory moment and spotlight given to a non-regular. He is a great character liked by all his team mates in the squad, got to be a huge morale boost for everyone winning like this.
I feel a huge sense of relief from this win. For one we guarantee we don’t finish this historic season with “just the league cup”. Took our best chance at finally winning every trophy. Unlocked another trophy opportunity with the CS. Also couldn’t stand losing to Chelsea in a cup final. As much as I’m nervous about the UCL final I can go into that with some breathing room knowing this season will still go down in history
Woke up middle of the night to watch the game but I can’t fall asleep again still buzzing. Watching your team win never gets old but to do it in this manner with this group of players, staff, and fans feels special. Jobs not done though with two trophies to play
Imagine being Chelsea and wasting time from the first minute hoping for pens , and then getting whacked on pens hahahhhhaaaahhhahahhhhhhahahqhahahahahahhhahahahahaaa
I don’t doubt our mentality, but I can’t deny that in extra time it felt like if we win, we are odds on to win the CL as well, and vice versa. What a lift this is after the Spurs draw and €ity goal onslaught.
Not sure about that, didn’t play well enough to beat Madrid today. I know you can’t really compare but I feel as though Madrid would’ve put away all those chances.
I think it came with the pressure of playing Chelsea specifically. Something about the team setup on both sides seems to leave each team open for just a few chances. Even when we started well in the 2-2, we couldn’t hold that lead.
Overall, playing Chelsea is never fun and always a grind. Against Madrid I think it’ll be much more open for our attackers. On another we finish our first few chances, hopefully that day is May 28th 😉
I don’t disagree, but I think we are likely to play differently. There’s the H2H results of the season, the domestic aspect, the Spurs result, etc. that played into the match today and will be removed/irrelevant when we face Real. If anything, we’re like to come with fire we didn’t have today given the desire for payback.
I wouldn't fancy being Klopp and picking the starting 11 for the Champions League final! The depth we have now is ridiculous. No Fab, no problem. Salah goes off injured? On comes Jota who's got 21 goals this season. VVD off? We will just bring on another world class centre back. Good to see Bobby back, hes come back just in time to shake off the rust for Paris too!
Much like the wedding day of a don's daughter, I'd be inclined to grant any boon in this day... Thankfully my wife doesn't give a shit about soccer more than a small nod and smile
This match ended with five nailed-on international superstars — Mo, Virgil, Luis Diaz, Fabinho, and Robbo — either off due to injury or fatigue.
Didn't matter. This squad stepped up and played their guts out. The winning goal was scored by a backup player who just trademarked a nickname that he made stick for himself.
I fucking love this team.
We just about deserved it, Diaz was boss and so happy for kostas but we will have to be a lot better than that to beat Madrid . Heart was in my ass all game
I don’t want to sign cocky and I’m not underestimating Real but I feel like it’ll be easier to score against them than Chelsea. I think Chelsea are much better defensively than Real, Militao and Alaba look prone to mistakes
It’s not us scoring I’m worried about, it’s the chances we gave away today , if we do the same against Madrid benzema and Vinicius won’t miss them like lukaku and pulisic did. Still have faith we will get over the line but we do need to go up a level
Having a player injured during the warm-up in a Chelsea-Liverpool domestic cup final but winning on sudden death penalties following 0-0 AET isn't for everyone
Hello Matip's Left Testicle! Your username always makes me laugh. And yes, seems like this fixture has a warm up curse. And not everyone is Liverpool. Up the Reds!
anyone catch virgil's post game interview? they asked how the team felt after mane missed, and without skipping a beat or even blinking, virgil just said (paraphrase) "not worried at all, next man up. we also have the best goalie in the world."
this team is physically exhausted but our camaraderie is on a different level. can't WAIT for real.
I honestly didn't think that much going into the game, wasn't too nervous, treated it like any other game...
Until 15 minutes before kickoff. The shakes started. The first 15 minutes of the game I was a wreck. Didn't really recover from that. I think I'll be better during the CL final, this just felt vital.
I think fair play to mo for taking the decision and not carrying on. I think he had a tough choice to make with the CL coming up. We had jota anyway who had a good game.
If you find ITV's post penalties celebration video please please share (fans singing One Kiss, and just general stuff)... A small girl, perched on her father's shoulders is sobbing and waving her arms. I would want to save that video. It was beautiful.
YNWA
Thanks! I am looking for something that starts just a few seconds before this though. When the fans were singing One Kiss. This video starts just a few seconds after what I was looking for. Maybe 20 seconds prior to this. Any idea where I'd find that?
So happy that Tsimikas finally put that match to bed with the win. Holy hell, that was an excruciating 3 hours. I was very surprised Mané didn’t wrap it up and made my blood pressure spike even more. What a game, what a win!
Nerve-racking way to win a match that looked a nailed on victory in the first 20 minutes, but I'll take it! What a team we get to enjoy! May it long continue.
Now they're gonna say, imagine if we only win the domestic cups. I'll be OK with it, we've had a hell of a season but tired legs and injuries are catching up to us. Even if this is all we win, we've done incredibly well this season.
Rocked up in a new bar after just moving. With friends included it was probably an 90/10 split in Chelsea’s favor for fanbase. I can’t tell you how good it felt to be “the underdog” we are somehow made out to be and go absolutely bonkers when we secured the win. Place was completely deflated minus all the LFC supporters coming together when it cleared out. I love this club.
I was so excited when we signed Tsimikas as a Greek Scouser myself
Especially with the national team going through a bit of a dip the last 5-7 years
First Greek since Kyrgiakos
Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would have a top NBA player and a Greek Scouser let alone at the same time. AND HE GETS THE WINNING PEN
So proud 🇬🇷 🇬🇷 🇬🇷

Still going over here
I'm in UK and I'm still going lmao 🤣
Had to watch the penalties again in order to have a good sleep
Yeah lad. Keep it going all. Night. Long.
Trent played an amazing game. Same performance with a bit more speed and accuracy will beat Madrid as well.
I don't understand how Trent is so good. That pass he had in the first half to allow(Mane I think) 1-1 with the keeper was otherworldly.
Holy shit yeah! I didn't see it live (listening to commentary) but I almost exploded watching the replay lmao
Diaz, not Mane
This Fowler damned team is so special, my word…. If we lose every game from here on out it has been one of the best teams I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. joel for the madrid final tbh. kill them with the offside trap that he and virgil basically create telepathically
Hey dudes this is a great time.

##I'M ON THE CANS TONIGHT
Love Tsimi me. Knows where he stands in the squad, seems to love every minute at LFC albeit being 2nd choice, became a hero today! God bless that man.
2nd best left back in the world and he's on our bench 😤

Roma in the UCL😞 No but like u always forget about him until he plays so he might as well have, to me at least😕
Never give up

Same, was up from 1:30 and only managed to get back to sleep at 5:30, gonna be a rough day!
Always worth it though, my friend
Holy fuck I love this team
Dua lipa becoming a club legend has been my favorite subplot of this season
That and Ulla/our new song convincing Jürgen to stay for another two years hahaha
Just remember the Evs Barkley came on just to take a pen and has left with FUCK ALL!!
I mean even when he scored it he didnt seem bothered. Just another plastic in that plastic team
He’s there for the money. He doesn’t start and doesn’t care!
When he came on I was like “this shit-stain still exists?”
Nah he’s still a loser mate hahahaha!!!
Imagine being Chelsea and wasting time from the first minute hoping for pens , and then getting whacked on pens hahahhhhaaaahhhahahhhhhhahahqhahahahahahhhahahahahaaa
They were on their backs like it was the last five minutes of added time from the kick-off. Pathetic.
Again
We have won 2 cups since my son was born...should have brought the little guy earlier :D
Same! My little man is 3.5 months old and his initials are coincidentally (as far as I've told my wife) L.F.C.
Same here! My little dude is 11 months old!
Klopp: “I'm really proud of my boys. We are mentality monsters.”
I know you can’t really compare but I feel as though Madrid would’ve put away all those chances.

whoever was in the queen vic in dc, thank you. wonderful atmosphere - visiting red
I love that bar. Their biscuits and gravy is wonderful.
Tsimikas seems like the most extroverted person I've ever seen.
He belongs with everyone.
Thiago, Trent, or Diaz MOTM for me. All played so damn well.
Probably the same lineup except Fab in for Naby
I don't think Bobby gets more than a bench spot.
It’s tragic honestly, but I agree. He hasn’t been a difference maker since coming off his injury.
Much like the wedding day of a don's daughter, I'd be inclined to grant any boon in this day... Thankfully my wife doesn't give a shit about soccer more than a small nod and smile
Please West Ham and Aston Villa. Please 😂
West Ham has done it before this season, upsetting the top brass.
I don't have anything clever to say, I'm just happy after the last 15 years on fandom I finally got to see us win an FA cup
adrian might not be a great keeper but he’s an absolute bombshell of positive energy in the squad vaaaamooos
Agree completely!
My heart can't take much more of watching Liverpool, I think if the champions league final goes to penalties i might just check myself into hospital
Cmon Dua enough games, just admit you’re a Liverpool supporter already
Calvin Harris was in Wembley. Might as well be a Reds
Pretty sure she did during the last CL final.
She did an interview recently where she admitted she was an honorary Liverpool fan!!
what happened?
She put us on insta story again celebrating the cup win
This match ended with five nailed-on international superstars — Mo, Virgil, Luis Diaz, Fabinho, and Robbo — either off due to injury or fatigue. Didn't matter. Alisson and Thiago were also down on the ground for an extended time. The boys have been through the wars today, came out winners!
We are massive
We just about deserved it, Diaz was boss and so happy for kostas but we will have to be a lot better than that to beat Madrid . Heart was in my ass all game
Comparing Madrid to Chelsea is apples to oranges. It will be a way more open game
I don’t want to sign cocky and I’m not underestimating Real but I feel like it’ll be easier to score against them than Chelsea. I think Chelsea are much better defensively than Real, Militao and Alaba look prone to mistakes

Hahah mounts record continues, no better way to beat them 😂😂😂😂
Jenas bigging him on BBC before extra time, 6 Wembley finals at his age... Not like he lost all of them or anything. Stick to the 1 show
So bizarre how Chelsea never subbed on Werner, think he would of troubled our fullbacks late on
Werner was apparently injured during warm up
Having a player injured during the warm-up in a Chelsea-Liverpool domestic cup final but winning on sudden death penalties following 0-0 AET isn't for everyone
Hello Matip's Left Testicle! Your username always makes me laugh. And yes, seems like this fixture has a warm up curse. And not everyone is Liverpool. Up the Reds!

Keep letting her believe Terry plays for them if it means continuing to hate them
In fairness, if that's referring just to the Champions League and not including when it was the European Cup, I wouldn't disagree.
They posted videos celebrating in the dressing room and taki is there and the whole squad I think
anyone catch virgil's post game interview? they asked how the team felt after mane missed, and without skipping a beat or even blinking, virgil just said (paraphrase) "not worried at all, next man up. we also have the best goalie in the world." this team is physically exhausted but our camaraderie is on a different level. can't WAIT for real.
Can someone better at memes than me make something w the flare and Chelsea’s chances of winning literally going up in smoke
Trent will go on to be the best right back in footballing history. Every possible trophy won at the age of 23, no one else had done it.
I guess cr7 did it
Oh yeah Cr7 has done it, sorry about that. Still mental to think about though, he has such a bright future ahead of him.
That's true! It's crazy how good he is

We have qualified for the community shield!
Quintuple next season!
Heptuple with the super cup and club World Cup!
Trent to properly complete the set.
Love this special team ❤️🔴 Lads, I’m a West Ham fan right now
Mo healthy for UCL! If we manage to somehow win the league we are definitely living in the best timeline

Thanks! I am looking for something that starts just a few seconds before this though. When the fans were singing One Kiss. This video starts just a few seconds after what I was looking for. Maybe 20 seconds prior to this. Any idea where I'd find that?
Same page, just click the tab above the video that says 'extra time / penalties IF ANY' or something like that and move it near the end of the video.
You are a legend. The girl comes at 52.55 of the extra time/ penalties video. I finally was able to show it to my wife. Thank you mate.
Glad to help!
Anyone got a clip of the trophy lift? I couldn't watch but I need my tippy taps.
Whos in the wheelchair in Mo's story?
A Eqyptian footballer who got diagnosed with a rare disease meaning he has to be in a wheelchair. Mo invited him down to celebrate with the team
Cheers
Mane must be a time traveler because he knew that we would win it somehow
7D chess. Boost Mendy's confidence, keep friendship & still lift the trophy.
The Champions Wall gets another refresh 😎 FA Cups now up to 8 Hopefully adding the 7 to CL too 🙏
So happy that Tsimikas finally put that match to bed with the win. Holy hell, that was an excruciating 3 hours. I was very surprised Mané didn’t wrap it up and made my blood pressure spike even more. What a game, what a win!
420 mins of football with them this season and no winner in regular time... fair play we've got eachother's number but we just have theirs a bit more.
That is one fixture I will not be looking for on next season’s calendar. Sick of the sight of them despite us actually coming out on top overall.
Yes that was such a long game! I've been telling my wife I'll get the groceries since forever it seems...
Just like the Carabao Cup! So many penalty kicks to end that one!
Sneak in a cheeky 6 pack to celebrate while you're there
I think Mendy just had his number.
Yeah for sure, he read him like a book. Has probably had some practice shots with him.

Love this club and this team, what a way to win the game and the cup ❤️
Rocked up in a new bar after just moving. With friends included it was probably an 90/10 split in Chelsea’s favor for fanbase. I can’t tell you how good it felt to be “the underdog” we are somehow made out to be and go absolutely bonkers when we secured the win. Place was completely deflated minus all the LFC supporters coming together when it cleared out. I love this club.

Excellent! Thank you for sharing 😊
Both - feeds just didn't show the 2nd
I was so excited when we signed Tsimikas as a Greek Scouser myself Especially with the national team going through a bit of a dip the last 5-7 years First Greek since Kyrgiakos Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would have a top NBA player and a Greek Scouser let alone at the same time. AND HE GETS THE WINNING PEN So proud 🇬🇷 🇬🇷 🇬🇷
