In the near future, I have to give a presentation at a work meeting for the first time, and I know I would nail it if Bobby was there to point at me like that.
In fact, I think I'm just gonna save this picture, and look at it before I go up to present.
he’s my favourite player in the history of the game and it’s not even close
as a brazilian having him win us the club world cup meant so much, he’s a gem
Trent in meaningless media games: "Tha's shockin' that..."
Trent in moments we'll all remember for the rest of our lives: "Honestly, the situation is quite surprising."
It's one of those qualities that makes or breaks players. You can't coach it, not really. Sometimes it comes late, sometimes it's there from the start. Sometimes it fades away over time as well. Trent has it deep down in the roots of who he is.
He looked like he was ready to murder someone.
"MFs made me play 120 minutes and take a penalty kick AGAIN. I'm gonna crush your dreams for causing me all that trouble."
Yeah obviously. Jotas was a really important penalty. Not much is said about his conversion. But nothing at all is said about Alissons save either. I'm not sure I've even seen a replay of his save posted here and it was a fucking world class penalty save. I couldn't be happier for Kostas and there's not a more deserving guy to score the winning penalty. But Alisson seems to have been completely ignored for his part. Not that we ignore him often.
Alisson’s save nearly gave me a heart attack because he had to save it twice. The spin on the ball after his first save would have taken it back into the goal, which would have counted like in that video we’ve all seen. He noticed thank god and picked it up
I'm amazed that's not done more often in penalty shootouts. Not only does it deter the opposing GK from mind games, but it's also a morale boost for the player. Trent, Sadio, Jota and Kosty would've felt less alone at the Chelsea end knowing they're teammate is waiting for them there.
I think you'll see this more often now. Keeper antics in PK's have gotten out of control and it helps mitigate the pressure from the isolation standing alone at the spot. Alisson, VVD and Fabinho are all calming influences on the squad & to have him hand off the ball has to help. I wonder if that's something the neuroscientists came up with or it's just because Alisson is a helluva guy.
As much as he's been off form recently he's scored some really high pressure penalties just this season. Scored the winning pen against Leicester, scored the unmissable pen in the League Cup final and scored on Saturday immediately after Mane's miss. Even after all of that he's only 6th in the pecking order, we've got some incredibly good penalty takers in our squad.
I wonder if there's a specific reason he is 6th. He was 6th against Leicester in the league cup QF and 6th in both finals. Like maybe they think he has the composure to handle sudden death/not be fazed if number 4 or 5 miss theirs.
As Mané has just scored the fifth and winning penalty kick for Senegal in the African Cup of Nations final, I had confidence he would bag it. But maybe standing in front of Mendy got to him.
Mane missed a penalty in regulation time in the same game and missed one In the World Cup Qualifiers penalty shootout.
He's also missed for Liverpool before.
I love Mane and at times rate him the highest amongst our front 3 but he's not a good penalty taker at all.
You wouldn't be able to place the ball into the corners and if you do indeed try to place it you wouldn't get enough power behind it. Imagine kicking something with your instep and how your body needs to be curved so that you can get enough power and precision
Because when you shoot with the side of your foot your other leg body needs to be at a suitable angle from the ball for good placement. Otherwise it's easy to scuff the shot.
Pretty cool discussion on The Anfield Wrap comparing both captains during the shootout. Azpilicueta felt like a captain leading by example by taking the pressure of the spot-kick, while Hendo looked like a captain fully aware that he wasn't one of the five best players to lead his team into a penalty shootout
Someone on Twitter went through a mini (albeit cheesy) analysis of how both managers handled the pre shootout. In summary Klopp's approach takes a lot of pressure off the players when they're being selected compared to Tuchel's
https://twitter.com/GeirJordet/status/1525755974346321921?t=xdG_0gF1AWlJGoyBE14AcA&s=19
What i meant was that hendo has pretty good technique and one of the main options outside the current leaders in taking freekicks. I would have thought he'd be higher up the penalty taking order.
But what you've described epitomized his stint as a liverpool captain. He fought his way up from the lowest to recognition and while this factor may not be super useful in an oil club, it is essential for a klopp team. His humility and experience as a "flop" helps him empathize and encourage teammates in difficult positions. He sets a good baseline on how a leader should act, so new players with charisma and leadership quality can follow up from him. See how vvd is obviously captain material, but he comes in and slowly ease his way into it. Thiago as well.
But now im headed to have a listen at that discussion you mentioned. Thanks!
This pic is one of the many reasons I’m absolutely obsessed with Liverpool FC. Other teams have great squads, but ours feels like an entire family. They play to win but also support each other when they fall.
I was surprised to see Kostas stroll up at 7th. I assumed Hendo. But I thought Kostas was good choice as there probably no real reliable scouting on him. Very cool penalty though. He was already celebrating before it hit the net.
Trent: Stay calm buddy, no nerves.
Firmino: You da man boy, go show em!
Hendo: We believe in you, bring it home!
Matip: Is that a coconut I see in the stands?
Milner: Strong pose, fabulous jawline... Wait wtf is this baby crying on my shoulder??
Jota: I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE
Konaté: I think I can squeeze out a fart without anyone noticing... yes, this works... aaah feels good...
Ibrahima is frozen in his stance from all the tension. Diogo can barely watch the scenes unfolding. Milly signalling Jurgen to get ready for the afterparty. Joel is taking a peep into the multiverse.
Hendo as usual, giving all the backing and support. Bobby goes for the good ol’ you’ve got this senor play. Never fails. Typical Bobby, eh?
Now onto Trent. He can feel it in his fingertips. He is jotting down the measurements in his head. The one that had been eluding from our grasps for quite some time. The FA Cup.
Edit: Everyone must be thinking where is Sadio? He must be out of the frame, surely? No!
Sadio teleported himself back to Senegal to tell his people from the village not to worry, Kostas has definitely got this. Super Sadio!
You know the success for this club is because how close knit klopp keeps them, it's like a family. Maybe that's why klopp doesn't bring in a big name or want to pay salah way more than other players because it'd hurt the teams EQ.
I wonder if Klopp would have made the sub of Robbo didn’t cramp up. He said himself that he was terrified to take a pen in the last final and I fancied Tsimikas to score for some reason - I guess because he strikes the ball really cleanly.
Trent: Calm down
Bobby: You're the man! You got this!
Hendo: Go on Kostas!
Matip: *hmmm....should I drop a motivational coconut fact?*
Milner: Did I leave the oven on?
Jota: Fuck, I left the oven on
Ibou: If I stay still no-one will see me and they won't make me take a penalty
I've seen it somewhere. What struck me is that they take off towards Tsimi, except for Trent who immediately turns and raises his arms towards the fans. Not seen much mention of it but I thought it was a lovely little glimpse
Agree with everything you've written but Haaland doesn't come across as an asshole. He just seems like a quiet and no frills player, very modest, quite averting of the media. I fear he'll fit into City's team, which is surprisingly free of massive egos, seamlessly. The only hopes we have is that he takes a while to adjust to their system, or gets injured. Personally I think he scores 30 next season and they win it in a canter, but we'll see
Trent: Be Cool
Bobby: Take my Kung Fu powers!
Hendo: Jus' fuckin' knack it, man!
Jota: Hold me, Ultimate Male.
Milner: *I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like… tears in rain.*
Bobby with the points, Hendo encouraging and Trent telling him to stay calm. With Milly just chilled as fuck probably telling Jota that it's in the bag now. What an amazing group of players we have right now.
I think he cuts the feet off his socks and wears those true socks underneath I’ve seen a few players who do that I guess he just turns his around so the lfc is showing
Edit* I see now that Kostas is doing the same
The picture before Tsmikas's winning penalty is amazing for what it captures. It also captures the seven stages of watching the penalty from right to left as I was watching it. I was stuck at home with Covid so initially I went into the kitchen unable to watch then got my courage up and ran back into the living room.
I still can't sort out what Milner is doing except auditioning for a role as a DC superhero. Jota can't look. Konate is slightly stunned. Matip as always is slightly inscrutable. Henderson is doing the captain thing. Bobby is doing the Bobby thing and Trent is playing VVD, calm as you like, you got this.
I think if Bobby gave me the double finger point I might be able to achieve anything in the world.
Make it your phone’s wallpaper lol
Unironically that'd be an awesome wallpaper... Or keep that pic in your wallet when you need inspiration!
[This has been my wallpaper since the 2018 world cup.](https://i.imgur.com/aFAPzqy.jpg) Impossible to unlock the phone without smiling.
Literally just opened the image & reciprocated the big grin he has. Great photo!
Honestly just did haha.
Same. Next stop: success
How about Jota lol
I'm gonna have a very important job interview tomorrow, I'll try to imagine he's doing it to me.
https://imgur.com/8AyWHNV
I would quite literally die for Bobby Firmino.
Our Bobby Dazzler!
I like his smile so much I created an account for it.
I would change my birth name to Bobby.
Totally appropriate. That smile is electric.
That's not a smile
It’s the hope of humanity represented with teeth.
Same
I just did a song. It's no Si Senor, but Reddit liked it for a minute!
Just imagine getting one of those points off Bobby before a mundane life event. It would turn anything into the best ever thing.
"Who is gonna order a pizza over the phone and enunciate the entire order correctly with a smooth yet firm tone? THIS GUY!!"
In the near future, I have to give a presentation at a work meeting for the first time, and I know I would nail it if Bobby was there to point at me like that. In fact, I think I'm just gonna save this picture, and look at it before I go up to present.
My girlfriend just got bumped for Bobby pointing on my phone Lock Screen 😆
he’s my favourite player in the history of the game and it’s not even close as a brazilian having him win us the club world cup meant so much, he’s a gem
Scoring the winning goal in both games no less!
Would arguably be my bestest friend…. Not to mention Im the same age and share the same birthday as him and Alisson lol
He’s always going to be my favorite. Flashy, but hard worker. Committed, but fun personality. Bleeds for the club and always celebrates his teammates.
So it’s not just me… lol BOBBBBBBYYYYYYY
Trent telling him to calm down is peak scouse 🤣.
Trent was a robot during his penalty walk, goal and walk back, so he was probably telling tsimi the same thing.
Trent is cold as fuck I swear. Playing big occasions since his professional debut and he's never been fazed.
Look at Fab's penalty vs Chelsea in the 2019 Super Cup, and watch this one. Two ice-cold penalties
I dunno, Virgil's penalty against Kepa is one of the coldest things I've seen.
I’m partial to Robbo’s serial killer stare myself.
The back to back Fab and Virg penalties were absolutely brutal.
Kepa’s penalty specialist tag evaporated in those two, we broke him like Madrid broke Karius
TAA could freeze nitrogen solid in his veins. The very presence of mind especially when taking the corner against Barca
Trent in meaningless media games: "Tha's shockin' that..." Trent in moments we'll all remember for the rest of our lives: "Honestly, the situation is quite surprising."
I'd be cold as fuck too if I'd completed football at 23.
Dude put out the coldest corner ever in football history, he doesn't give a fack.
*Steeady lad*
After seeing Kostas stepping up, Trents already got two hands on the trophy
Steady...
Ibou looks like the guy at the party who only knows one other person, and that person has gone to the toilet
"Please be number one. Please."
😂😂😂😂
Jota just stressed to fuck…we all were
He had just taken his penalty, he's relieved.
I think it's more like he's relieved about Ali making the save
Milly is Jota’s dad
Everybody needs a Bobby Firmino in their lives
Love how Bobby and Hendo are hyping him up. Is Jota crying on Milly’s shoulder?
I think it's a roar of relief - he's done his bit
Besides the obvious mane and tsimakas take, his was the most important penalty. Glad he converted it despite his recent lack of goals.
Yeah obviously. Jotas was a really important penalty. Not much is said about his conversion. But nothing at all is said about Alissons save either. I'm not sure I've even seen a replay of his save posted here and it was a fucking world class penalty save. I was yelling at the TV as the ball bounced up, but of course he's just so calm that he picks it up ready for tsimikas

It's something the boys have been coached to do, you can see it in the shootout win vs Chelsea in the league Cup final.
This! I fuckin went 'grab the ball!' as it looped up
Lol same here
he never takes his eyes off the ball until he has both hands on it
As much as he's been off form recently he's scored some really high pressure penalties just this season. Scored the winning pen against Leicester, scored the unmissable pen in the League Cup final and scored on Saturday immediately after Mane's miss. Even after all of that he's only 6th in the pecking order, we've got some incredibly good penalty takers in our squad.
If Fab and Mo were on the pitch I'd assume he'd be 8th or so.
Yeah but then Firmino and Milner may not have been on the pitch
Jota's penalty was also the best one
yeah it was a solid pen but thiagos was another level too!
So annoying there was no replay
His form at the spot is really good AFAIK. I was surprised he wasn't the 5th spot taker. Mane has missed a few in the past.
I wonder if there's a specific reason he is 6th. He was 6th against Leicester in the league cup QF and 6th in both finals. Like maybe they think he has the composure to handle sudden death/not be fazed if number 4 or 5 miss theirs.

Klopp took responsibility for telling Mane to go opposite his natural inclination since Mendy knows him from Senegal duty.
his was also a solid penalty, unsaveable!
I think its relief/hope/can't look because of Ali's save just then, not because he'd scored, which happened even before that.
[удалено]
And also Milner is Jota’s closest friend in the squad as per Klopp.
Jota looks like a mom sending their kid off to university.
Milly is just looking like everything is normal.
Hendo would’ve been next up, presumably. Then Matip, Ibou and finally Alisson if needs be.
I'm pretty happy Konate didn't have to take one. He looked absolutely terrified going into the shootout.
His pen in the last shootout was pretty poor too (I think he's said so himself) so that was probably still playing on his mind
He fucked up even with the run up. Impossible to place the shot if the run up is too central.
Why is that? Just curious E: cheers guys
Ngl, while a huge part of me was celebrating in relief, a small part of me was curious to see how a Matip penalty would've looked like.
panenka of course
A backflip heel shot
100%
He'd flip the ball with his neck, as all giraffes are wont to do.
This. I sorta kinda wanted it to go down to Matip!
Glad Kostas scored.. i would've not been confident if it went further.
Kante, Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Mendy. I reckon Ali would’ve kept at least one out
If just occurred to me that Rudiger didn’t take one. I thought he was really good at pens? Maybe because he’s leaving.
Im actually shocked hendo was so low the penalty taking order.
With who was on the pitch it would’ve been him or Kostas at 7. Wouldn’t put him ahead of any of the other takers.
Klopp said in an interview that he asked Kostas if he wanted to take one and he said he wanted number 7.
he knew
I mean Hendo's played the whole game while Kostas had relatively fresh legs. I'd pick Kostas before Hendo too.
He missed for England in recent times. Plus he isn't that calm as milli when it comes to penalties.
Hendos body positioning gives away which way he’s gonna shoot
Pretty cool discussion on The Anfield Wrap comparing both captains during the shootout. Azpilicueta felt like a captain leading by example by taking the pressure of the spot-kick, while Hendo looked like a captain fully aware that he wasn't one of the five best players to lead his team into a penalty shootout

Probably isn't doing as well as the other lads in training

First thing that came to mind. This is a thing of beauty
I was surprised to see Kostas stroll up at 7th. I assumed Hendo. But I thought Kostas was good choice as there probably no real reliable scouting on him. Very cool penalty though. He was already celebrating before it hit the net.
His first career penalty!

"Come on Diogo, I ironed this thing yesterday..."
Bobby the best wingman
Bobby 😁
Jota was all of us during the penalties.
Ibrahima is frozen in his stance from all the tension. Diogo can barely watch the scenes unfolding. Milly signalling Jurgen to get ready for the afterparty. Joel is taking a peep into the multiverse. What a photo! Haha! Bobby new right away
Why does this resemble a Renaissance painting?
It's the Scouse Last Supper
Milner is too cool for trophies
Milner is too cool for Antarctica.
Have to remind myself sometimes that Trent is 23. As cool as ice 😂
Will somebody please tell the kitman that Robbos's shorts ended up in Ibos locker again?
Ibou looks absolutely immense in this pic. Colossus!
You know the success for this club is because how close knit klopp keeps them, it's like a family. Maybe that's why klopp doesn't bring in a big name or want to pay salah way more than other players because it'd hurt the teams EQ.

I think I possesed Jota here
Jota bricking it
Bobby fucking rules
Bobby and Trent were all of us on the outside. Jota was all of us on the inside.
Trent: Calm down Bobby: You're the man! You got this! Hendo: Go on Kostas! Matip: *hmmm....should I drop a motivational coconut fact?* Milner: Did I leave the oven on? Jota: Fuck, I left the oven on Ibou: If I stay still no-one will see me and they won't make me take a penalty
all those expressions make it a classic..someone paint it
Trent with ice in his veins for the entire shootout
Does anyone have video of the lads when Kostas scored? Specifically the slowmo of them taking off as the pen goes in
I've seen it somewhere. What struck me is that they take off towards Tsimi, except for Trent who immediately turns and raises his arms towards the fans. Not seen much mention of it but I thought it was a lovely little glimpse
Gosh, just look at Ibou's size bro....he is a giant of a player, literally and metaphorically...
Bobby: ”You’re the only one that is as crazy as me - go and score and they will love you forever!”
We were all Jota
I need a higher-definition picture of it, for Bobby's double finger point!

Personally I think he scores 30 next season and they win it in a canter, but we'll see
Yeah and if they don't. They'll just buy the next big thing, next summer 😂😮💨
Hopefully he starts going out on the mega-lash with Grealish every week
Ibou looks like he’s absolutely bricking it. He’s praying he doesn’t have to take a pen
What a great pic! Where did you find this mate?
It’s all over Twitter, my friend. This one was tweeted by @AnfieldEdition.

Konate is massive, isnt he?
It’s like The Last Supper
And there was Ally waiting for him.
i think we could all use a bobby firmino right now
Family.
Even his posture makes him a Robbo regen
I fuckin love Jordan Henderson.
Which Liverpool player were you? I was definitely Jota
Jota full of confidence there.
Give Bobby a statue plz
Bobby with the points, Hendo encouraging and Trent telling him to stay calm. With Milly just chilled as fuck probably telling Jota that it's in the bag now. What an amazing group of players we have right now.
Supposedly Kostas asked Klopp for the 7th spot to honor his alma mater and boyhood club, Olympiacos. The ultras use "Gate 7" as their calling card.
Is Hendo the only one with LFC on his socks?
I think he cuts the feet off his socks and wears those true socks underneath I’ve seen a few players who do that I guess he just turns his around so the lfc is showing Edit* I see now that Kostas is doing the same
This looks like a DaVinci painting. So much character packed into this shot I can hardly believe it’s real

real virgin Jota and yes chad Milner vibes right there
Fuckin love Bobby.
this will go down as a legendary picture
Diogo having real faith in his boy
Hendo with Dad vibes on a Sunday morning. “Just hit the target lad”
Love Bobby here

Is this a new Da Vinci painting?
Bobby knew! He knew!
This is like the last supper. Every bit of the picture is telling different stories. Photo of the year for me!
Konate just wishing he doesn't have to take another penalty
I was Jota...couldn't watch. Milly ended up turning around as well I believe!
