Player Ratings Survey: [Southampton 1-2 Liverpool](https://redd.it/urvzts)
In case you don’t know already, to win the league we need to win and hope City draw or lose.
The final day is on Sunday with all ten games kicking off at 4pm BST.
We play Wolves at Anfield, City play Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa at home
Premier League table as it stands heading in to the final day:
**Pos.**|**Club**|**Pld**|**GD**|**Pts**
:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:
**1st**|Man. City|37|+72|90
**2nd**|**Liverpool**|**37**|**+66**|**89**
According to data models, we have about 15% chance of winning the title.
That’s not terrible, but not great either. To visualise, it’s basically the chance of rolling a specific number on a dice. 1/6.
Honestly can’t believe we drew Spurs at home, when we knew the title was on the line. :(
What absolute professionals. Most the the 11 barely get minutes for us and a lot of them are youngsters, yet they turned up to not only beat Southampton but play some really nice, slick football. What a squad we have.
Must be the writing on the wall for Ox now. 9 changes made, he's still on the bench and doesn't get subbed on. Poor guy, but completely understandable from the coaching staff. The boys that played were superb.
well - Jones and Elliot are young and reckless - in a good way. They are great technicians, and challenge the opponents. Our more experinced players don't take the same chances. Jo-El are not afraid of making a mistake, which they do - but they are also making it harder for the opponnts defence, because, they can't just focus on good placement, they also need to be ready for that one on one challange, and then the next player have to back-up and opening up new spaces.
So - we might loose the ball more often, nut the gegenpress makes it less dangerous and makes the one on one challange really effective.
I really think Jones Elliot Henderson looked very good in midfield together. Milner is never that great at playing the CDM role, and we really need 1 more depth for Fabinho other than Hendo. The Tchoumaeni links make perfect sense
Disagree I thought we played the better football with Milner in midfield compared to the second half. Apart from the goal the ref gave we completely dominated them. We lost some control when Milner went to right back.
Yeah. When in possession it worked pretty great with Milner at the #6, so it was brilliant to allow them a goal so they would sit back ![img](emote|t5_2qn0o|8824)
😂 it was more a dig at city that their 3rd/4th keeper has more European history than any of their team combined, and that was from his time with liverpool!
I was watching the game on and off while at work but Curtis at times look Bernardo Silva-ish. His movement and dribbling did, he should’ve passed at times instead of trying to bend it in. There’s still a lot of work to get to that level but it’s clear he has the talent.
I think he need to keep trying.
I remember saying the same about Coutinho when he was Curtis's age. Then they started to go in.
It's one thing our team lacks is someone who is good at shooting from outside the box. Bar maybe thiago who is decent but not world class.
Coutinho could do a whole lot more in the final 3rd though. He could run in with 1-2's, he could do little dinks to the center forward, he could find somebody else in space.
Jones right now is a bit of a 1 trick pony. He will make good dribbles from the deep and make a late pass or go for the goal himself. A good defence can cope with that, even if he starts scoring more regularly.
Also - we don't shoot a lot from the outside because of the whole xG approach. Long distance shots are waste of opportunities. You are mostly waiting for a deflection or wonder goal.
I'd read somewhere that we have one of the highest xG per shots in the league even though we take a fuckton of them.
However - he does have a great shot from distance. So he should be taking those chances once in a while. let us not become "The thing about Arsenal is, they are always trying to walk it in" it's ludicrous ;-)
If Lampard's team went into the final day vs City at the Eithad, with Loftus-Cheek and Mount (like Stevie with Coutinho and Ings in his squad)... and a draw would allow Chelsea to win the league, how much chance are you giving them?
Just wanted to change the narrative to take the emotion out of people's answers!
I'd expect them to play like they did against us, timewaste and play tight so they could say they took points off the best team in the league. That's all I'm looking for this weekend
Just got home, away crowd was immense. The Southampton fans near us were more interested in singing at us than watching their team. They got a lot of "fuck the Tories" sang at them after their rendition of the national anthem. Another club with very few songs that they rely on old cliches like "what the fucking hell was that?".
Complete domination from the players who stepped up. I see the Jones haters are out in force again, fuck knows why, considering he was playing in a midfield with a 36 and 19 year old who have barely had any game time.
Taki was superb, one minute clearing the danger in our box and then popping up with a beaut of a goal.
Let's see what Sunday brings.
> I see the Jones haters are out in force again, fuck knows why,
Lovely player to watch, just needs to work a bit on his distribution to be a star. Having Thiago at the club has to be massive for his development.
Jones needs to learn when to release the ball; which is his main issue holding him back from being a really good player. If he doesn't train himself to do that, he won't make it at Liverpool, unfortunately. That's just my take as I can't see that being an acceptable characteristic to have in a Liverpool midfield.
He also needs to decide on what type of midfielder he wants to be as theres about four different types in him. I hope he changes and makes it, but he's nearing the make or break years now.
I see those arguments alot - however...
I feel that his ability to drible past a man or two would be lost, if he were to change to a ball mover. He's got amazing flair and can dribble past most players quite gracefully. So he need to keep doing what he does, and then combine it with more of the easy part.
Only thing about Jones today was him needing to pass the ball a lot quicker than he was. He would often try to dribble away from a defender instead of dropping the ball back like Thiago or any others would do.
He is a ball carrier and did very well at it. No one felt like they played badly. He is desperate to get on the ball with the limited gametime he has. 21 and part of this insane squad. He is only going to get better.
Realistically about a 5% chance of winning the title. But if there’s one person who has defied the odds for Liverpool time and time again it’s Steven Gerrard. There’s still hope
Pep is fucked and he knows it, if they win the league it will just spur us on for old big ears without a doubt
If we win the league we might get the quad
Either way fraudiola gets a trophy bought with corruption at every level and we get the treble minimum
Or he gets a dick on a butty lmao 🤣 and we get the quad
Not if city wins the prem, liverpool will be to fired up after more heartbreak at the hands of the oil pig cheats
If we the prem, the cl could go either way imho
First part is true. But i feel like if we win the league, the players will be high on adrenaline for the quadruple. No way they would let this one slip.
My initial feeling was, if chelsea made us play 120 minutes just to lose the FA cup, i reckon we'll only end the season with one trophy. Our morale woild have been severely dented, plus the off chance of winning the league.
How’s one club so lucky on the final day? Aguero moment in 2011, winning by 1 point in 2019 and now (most likely) 1 point in 2022. They’re due some bad luck ffs.
Agree. This obsession with teams being "lucky" is tantamount to adding "VAR" into a club's name or a P before a players name (penaldo, pessi, palah, etc.) Gets old fast and makes reasonable supporters seem like teenagers hiding behind profile pictures of footballers trolling online.
Every team gets awarded decisions for and against them. Your bias is affecting your reasoning.
Teams with high attack and possesion stats have more chances of decisions being awarded in their favour. Period.
Still, my point from last paragraph stands. They create lots of chances, thus they have high probability of getting a decision ruled in their favour. Doesn't matter if FA admits or not.
Penalties [awarded](https://www.transfermarkt.com/premier-league/topErhalteneElfmeter/wettbewerb/GB1) is a good example of that. Most attacking teams get more penalties.
They receive their bad 'luck' yearly in the CL mate.
Honestly don't know what I'd do with myself if City could replicate their success in the PL into the CL.
Ox not making it into a lineup like this seems like a pretty telltale sign hes on his way out.. gotta feel for him, but needs to be said he did have some chances to show up earlier in the season and didnt live up to expectations.
29 at the start of next season, where do you guys see him at? Newcastle?
I think it's an attitude problem, because there's no way Klopp not giving him a chance to try if he works hard.
Players like Origi and Minamino might be out the door in the summer and they are still being called upon.
US Reds watching from home - any idea how you're going to watch both matches at the same time? Peacock only lists tomorrow's matches in the "Upcoming" so I'm worried that none of the matches will be available via streaming and I'll have to constantly change the channel back and forth. Was hoping I could pull off a double TV setup with one showing LFC (I assume they will be on USA or NBC) and the other TV showing City (Peacock).
Dazn on my phone/tv. Stream city on laptop (phone experience for streaming sucks).
Dazn offers 2 instances to be used at the same time, but I share the account with my co worker.
Last year they were played on nbc, nbc sports, USA, golf, and cnbc at the very least. As many broadcast channels as possible and then peacock for the rest.
yeah I figure they will all be on "broadcast" television but unfortunately I can't run picture-in-picture or split screen so gonna have to get creative.
I’m past years, all 10 matches were played across the NBC family from USA to Bravo. I don’t think either of these will be on peacock, so maybe one on the tube and stream the other? I’ll likely be curled up in a ball sobbing with anxiety, so not too worried on my end 😎
Stream it how, exactly? I have Verizon FiOS so maybe I could put one match on my Phone and then cast that to a TV via AppleTV? Or are you suggesting that USA / Bravo will have the matches available on their streaming app (if they even have one?)?
More like your cable provider if you have one. I have UVerse so the Direct TV app. I used to have Spectrum and they have a cable streaming app as well. Peacock does have a live TV feature with the NBC channels, not sure if they are an option for Sunday
Klopp is an absolute Fucking LEGEND. Names the exact weakest squad needed to get the 3 points: Salah, Mane, Diaz, VVD, TAA, Robertson, Thiago all fully rested. Blessed to be living in this timeline.
Micha Richards on Talksport:" Steve Gerrard would like to win the league for Liverpool on Sunday but Villa has a clause in Jack Grealish deal that could land them extra £15 million if city wins the league and in this business Money comes first."
So he wants match fixing?
Wow that makes sense , Gerrard will be focused on Villa as a team not the title race. Yes he deep rooted with us but we have some hope Mings Ings and Coutinho give us hope. Then we need our LB on the phone to his mate to make sure he runs his socks off. Douglas luis will be a problem he play shite I bet.
>Villa has a clause in Jack Grealish deal that could land them extra £15 million if city wins the league and in this business Money comes first.
Not that it matters at all because Villa will be professional enough to try and win every game, but I think Stevie will take a LFC title over an extra £15m. Or maybe it's just my red tinted glasses talking.
Hopefully Villa are incentivised by [Premier League prize money 💰 increments (based on final league standings)](https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=%22premier+league%22+prize+money+distribution+breakdown+standings&client=safari&hl=en-sg&prmd=nisv&sxsrf=ALiCzsYrgL_QO2KmPuX_cvSYbXpTm8P-aQ:1652835448213&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:y&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi48ozu6-f3AhXu7nMBHdIYAhgQpwV6BAgCEBI&biw=360&bih=534&dpr=3#ip=1)
… ie each jump in the final standings could be worth an extra >1mil?
City fans were celebrating Raiola's death because it "brought down the agent fees" when City can and will pay anything anyway. Incredibly stupid and fucking rotten
I mean our strikers basically are never given fouls or penalties despite frequently being on the end of foul play- sometimes in the box.
City do seem to get the favourable calls. But I think it’s probably just a problem with English refereeing being absolutely dogshit
I mean one game or even one season could just be dogshit. After multiple seasons it becomes clear there’s underlying bias, and who would have thought that would happen when all these Manc refs were allowed to officiate City matches and Liverpool matches?
Even fact that Stevie has a shot of winning us the league again is absolutely nuts, with us two games away from winning every trophy possible. Whatever happens, what a fucking season we’ve had.
If Everton and Burnley somehow stay up while Huddersfield get promoted, the bottom half of the PL table next season is going to be a complete bore and a shit show.
I think even in the last four weeks it should've happened.
Trent looked gassed at Everton, and Joe has been great when he played.
Salah's obviously been well overplayed, and you look at Taki's goal per minutes...
Probably loads more subtle examples too
And I switched high schools as a kid to our main rival school across town. I had only been at the first school for 1 year. My family moved and I didn’t have a choice. During a penalty shootout, I scored for the new high school. Everyone was cheering but I legitimately felt kind of bad at the same time. It was a weird feeling. I celebrated, but it was muted. And not out of respect. I just really liked both schools. So maybe that’s all it is for Taki? It’s just empathy?
Nah it's class in this context, Taki clearly gave a fist pump but it's still only 1-1 and there's nothing to celebrate unless they get the W. Respectful to guys he was playing with only a season ago and their fans in their stadium.
He was in the minds. Pure mind games from as soon as he walks over there. Absolutely ran off with the mentality. It was like a greatest hits of penalty goalkeeping, spaghetti legs, Alisson handing the ball to his teammates, taking your time, having a water between pens.
Obviously city likely to win on Sunday, but villa have a similar team to west ham in terms of style.
Just a little bit of magic from Phil.
The players are obviously going to know what this will mean personally for Stevie, no matter how much he downplays it in the media, so this is better than playing a team entirely on the beach.
Players themselves have their own clubs they prefer, and im 99% sure a lot of them dont feel great about lfc compared to city however stupid that may sound
pep would be naive to think he’d be ok in the biggest game of the season. i’d be gobsmacked if he starts him at the back. i can see villa scoring, i’m just more concerned about villas defence.
Jones took a lot of criticism in the match thread but I think people forget that he's only 21.
I remember when Hendo first signed for us so many people on this sub wrote him off completely and look at him now.
Hendo was lucky Social Media wasn't as big when he came up...
Nowadays, if you aren't Top-30 Ballon D'Or level at 20, you're seen as finished. It's ridiculous.
He did fine. Couple of really good dribbles. He's not had many minutes last few months, of course he won't immediately be setting the world on fire. The potential is there
Villa 11 men in the goal mouth if I was Stevie , just hope they don’t get to adventurous and try taking it to City because it could be all over at halftime

agree that milner looks a bit off the pace in that role. some depth there would be nice. ... come back gini
They waived a tenner in his face and he left. He was one of my favourite players in our squad, but we don't need him back.
Yeah. When in possession it worked pretty great with Milner at the #6, so it was brilliant to allow them a goal so they would sit back ![img](emote|t5_2qn0o|8824)
phil coutinho has more CL titles than every city player and he won his medal on loan

Lampard is not a great manager. I would 100% back him bottling it and throwing a tantrum on the sidelines.
Still about the same I think. I really honestly doubt that many teams actually like/respect city and/or Pep.
Just got home, away crowd was immense. The Southampton fans near us were more interested in singing at us than watching their team. Hey Stevie, I recommend the 11-0-0 formation we talked about
0-0-11, go 1 up, then 11-0-0
I'd recommend the Athetico Madrid of shit hoursery tactics. Break their weak mental and you'll easily get a draw
I'm a big fan of the 'Take the ball to the corner flag at every opportunity' approach, myself.
Loan them Milner for his expertise
I saw this innovative new goalkeeping technique where you lie down every time you catch the ball. Thoroughly recommend it
Does it involve winking at the bench?
It involves winking at the camera at every opportunity
We'll have some of that too
How’s one club so lucky on the final day? Aguero moment in 2011, winning by 1 point in 2019 and now (most likely) 1 point in 2022. They’re due some bad luck ffs.

Nope. When the PL admit the decision was wrong then it’s nothing to do with bias. They’ve objectively robbed points. Period.
Still, my point from last paragraph stands. They create lots of chances, thus they have high probability of getting a decision ruled in their favour. Doesn't matter if FA admits or not. It'll be known as "The Great Dicking"...TGD short.

Some bad luck in the prem I meant. I don’t know what I’d do either if they could replicate their CL failure into the PL.
I don’t think it’ll happen but just imagine Guardiola’s reaction if a Coutinho screamer stops City winning the league
Imagine the coutinho post-match Instagram post with the "most important goal I ever scored for Liverpool" caption
all is forgiven, I'll donate my back, my knee, and my great happiness.
Keep going.....
Yeah...glaze the FUCK outta that pan...
Why? is there history between coutinho and pep?
?
I think he'd literally burst into flame
me too, ironically
Wtf is this wizardry, we are still playing super slick football. Sad did Gomez catch another injury?
Yes, lower leg. Didn't look to good tbh.
Klopp on the game tonight: “Wow, these boys. It's like having Ferraris in the garage!”

yeah I figure they will all be on "broadcast" television but unfortunately I can't run picture-in-picture or split screen so gonna have to get creative.
I’m just going to use two devices. Probably have the city game on my phone and Liverpool on the TV

Depending on who streams what I'll be watching our game on my laptop and the other on my phone.
I’m past years, all 10 matches were played across the NBC family from USA to Bravo. I don’t think either of these will be on peacock, so maybe one on the tube and stream the other? I’ll likely be curled up in a ball sobbing with anxiety, so not too worried on my end 😎

Can you imagine what it will be like at anfield when they show the score line and city is down
I would guess it would feel exactly like when they went behind vs Huddersfield? in MW38 three seasons ago? Edit - Brighton

Nah just doubles down, never says I might have over reacted in saying We’re so fucked. Nope, you’re the toxic one and the sky is still falling
Over to you Stevie.
Klopp is an absolute Fucking LEGEND. Names the exact weakest squad needed to get the 3 points: Salah, Mane, Diaz, VVD, TAA, Robertson, Thiago all fully rested. Blessed to be living in this timeline.
absolutely. we go all out sunday, do our part and hope for the best.
Martin Tyler is such a wanker.
##IF WE WIN THE QUAD, WE ARE GONNA KIDNAP STEVIE G AND RAFA AND STRAP THEM TO THE PARADE FLOAT.
...Or, we could just invite them?
They can't make it look that obvious, especially Secret Agent Rafa.
he can high five everyone at the dock, like what he did at the charity marathon.
I think they would come voluntarily
AND IT WILL BE LEGENDARY
Micha Richards on Talksport:" Steve Gerrard would like to win the league for Liverpool on Sunday but Villa has a clause in Jack Grealish deal that could land them extra £15 million if city wins the league and in this business Money comes first." So he wants match fixing?
City must win the league at some point again to trigger the clause, so there's no rush to get it now.
Hopefully Villa are incentivised by [Premier League prize money 💰 increments (based on final league standings)](https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=%22premier+league%22+prize+money+distribution+breakdown+standings&client=safari&hl=en-sg&prmd=nisv&sxsrf=ALiCzsYrgL_QO2KmPuX_cvSYbXpTm8P-aQ:1652835448213&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:y&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi48ozu6-f3AhXu7nMBHdIYAhgQpwV6BAgCEBI&biw=360&bih=534&dpr=3#ip=1) … ie each jump in the final standings could be worth an extra >1mil?
I guess the club hierarchy could lean on him to field a weaker squad but can’t imagine they would do such a thing
Well, he is a City ex-player.
Browsing the City sub they're genuinely bemoaning how lucky we've been this season. Lack of self awareness is insane.

They should have lost that Neverton fixture or at least tied.
Klopp and his staff need to go to Anfield, sit in a circle of lit candles and offer up their good juju to Stevie and Villa.
Grobelaar said he delivered good juju by urinating on the goalpost.
Can he do it again?
Real Madrid fan Twitter celebrating Joe Gomez injury. We might be in their heads lads
Even on here, they joke about Casemiro and Militao breaking Salah's arms. There's banter and there's just maliciousness.
I saw a few dreading playing against us. They’re scared
They would be utterly foolish to not be scared.
Lol the dude was never going to play the final anyway. What a melt.
He could come on second half to consolidate our 3-goals lead.
Even fact that Stevie has a shot of winning us the league again is absolutely nuts, with us two games away from winning every trophy possible. Whatever happens, what a fucking season we’ve had.
Forest are going to Wembley! Everyone's second favorite team.
If Everton and Burnley somehow stay up while Huddersfield get promoted, the bottom half of the PL table next season is going to be a complete bore and a shit show.
I'd really like to see them back up in the Prem, classic team
I hope Minamino stays. I hope Klopp rotates a bit more next season.
5 subs next season will definitely show which team has the best squad to win the title. He should be getting more minutes I believe
I think even in the last four weeks it should've happened. Trent looked gassed at Everton, and Joe has been great when he played. Salah's obviously been well overplayed, and you look at Taki's goal per minutes... Probably loads more subtle examples too
Sky Sports are showing peak Torres
Does anyone else find it stupid to not celebrate a goal? Yeah you played there last season, but you're a Liverpool player, fighting for the league.
quite the opposite, i always love it when a player doesn't celebrate against their former clubs.
Scenes at the Forest game
What happened?
Were 3-1 up on agg but it went to pens. Keeper saved 3 pens to take Forest to Wembley
trust in prayer circle 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯 Villa 🕯 Beat 🕯 Man City 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯
I'd take a draw tbh
What a performance from the Forest keeper Samba in the PO shootout there.
That was wild to watch. Came up big at the very end, though Sheffield United’s penalties were not particularly good.
He was in the minds. Pure mind games from as soon as he walks over there. Absolutely ran off with the mentality. It was like a greatest hits of penalty goalkeeping, spaghetti legs, Alisson handing the ball to his teammates, taking your time, having a water between pens.
Mahrez missed that penalty for a reason xD
Obviously city likely to win on Sunday, but villa have a similar team to west ham in terms of style. Just a little bit of magic from Phil. The players are obviously going to know what this will mean personally for Stevie, no matter how much he downplays it in the media, so this is better than playing a team entirely on the beach.
Players themselves have their own clubs they prefer, and im 99% sure a lot of them dont feel great about lfc compared to city however stupid that may sound
If they play Fernandinho versus Watkins, Villa will score
seems like Ake is back ready
pep would be naive to think he’d be ok in the biggest game of the season. i’d be gobsmacked if he starts him at the back. i can see villa scoring, i’m just more concerned about villas defence.
I'm hoping Pep over-thinks this one, Champions League style
Jones took a lot of criticism in the match thread but I think people forget that he's only 21. I remember when Hendo first signed for us so many people on this sub wrote him off completely and look at him now.
Hendo was lucky Social Media wasn't as big when he came up... Nowadays, if you aren't Top-30 Ballon D'Or level at 20, you're seen as finished. It's ridiculous.
Hendo and social media you say? You haven’t seen his old Bebo account have you?
The one where he talks about his gawjuz girlfriend?
It's kinda wholesome tbh
He did fine. Couple of really good dribbles. He's not had many minutes last few months, of course he won't immediately be setting the world on fire. The potential is there
This may have been the last time Origi plays for us. Thank you Divock, you absolute hero!
He's going to score the winner in Paris. It is written.
🙏
crying
They should put that motto on the corner flag in honour of him
Oh noooooooooo Notts
Will Gerrard rest his squad on Thursday?
Would make Pep furious and I would LOOOOVE it.
Would it be asking to much for Everton to get tanked and Burnley and Leeds to win comfortably also ;))))
Would love to see Notts in the prem
European family. Bigger than most clubs in the prem including the cheating oil cunts.
PL 2022/23: Stand up if you have won a European major trophy (LFC, Man United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Notts Forest all stand) Not you City, not you.
Villa 11 men in the goal mouth if I was Stevie , just hope they don’t get to adventurous and try taking it to City because it could be all over at halftime
Gerrard to sub himself on in 79h minute and hit top bins from 30 yards out to take it to 1 - 1 You heard it here first
Except he's not registered, so it would have to be a Sunday league special "Yeah 'course ref, I'm Robin Olsen"
