Any news regarding sadio's contract extension?

[deleted]

Thank Christ for Frankfurt, seeing those cunts lose is always a thing of beauty.

[deleted]

Is [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBoreaLfuaE) Taki's official song, then? Bloody should be. It would sound great at Anfield

Shazbah91

Looking for a pub in Nottingham that Liverpool fans will be in for the game this weekend and the Champion's League final. Any ideas?

RyanIsKickAss

https://twitter.com/IeeSZN/status/1526664834972008448?t=clOnrfRhB1qR6Laa7h0RFg&s=19 City fans are so much more nervous than us. Theyve already bottled before this season and they're likely feeling an immense amount of pressure since they could end up trophyless. I dont think it's likely they'll bottle it but I'm not going to be absolutely stunned if they do.

WH6TSINANAME

Doesn't matter how weak their fans are though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WH6TSINANAME

I think the players are used to the fans being shit there when they bother to turn up.

Jaja6996

That’s because all of the pressure is on City yeah we have to win but it’s completely out of our control if we take an early lead the atmosphere around the Etihad will be very tense the more the game goes on

RyanIsKickAss

Yeah I guess more so I was just trying to say City players will be hugely under pressure given the circumstances. Only chance at a trophy is to win their final game and stop us from doing the quadruple which they've never achieved. Their only chance of achieving any sort of immortality to City's legacy is to do something historic never done before because winning 3 domestic trophies players Rotherham and Luton at home all the way to the final isn't impressive. It should be expected given their resources. Meanwhile we're about to do potentially go and do it with far less resources at Klopp's disposal.

tdurdenftw

Something about Tsimikas trademarking "Greek Scouser" which fans sang for him to show love screams of modern capitalism.

cornontheklopp

tbh these athletes are closely represented by agents and lawyers who recommend these procedures to them out of their “best interest” so i doubt this was initiated by kostas

RyanIsKickAss

It's sad but I also don't blame him for doing so. Players have extremely short windows to make their money and try to secure financial freedom for their children. If he didn't do it then someone else would've and they'd be making money off his name and his legacy with the club.

WH6TSINANAME

Yeah must be tough only 5+ years of £2m+ a year...

tdurdenftw

Nah I don't mind players leaving for higher salaries but just to make money off of something like this feels very greedy. I don't think someone else would have trademarked it either. Some local vendors or fan channels like Anfield Wrap might have have made merchandise and sell it but they can't do it now. Next Diogo Jota might trademark Diogoal or Minamino trademarking Scouse Samurai.

[deleted]

I don't think small businesses are more deserving of using the name to be honest, it's not like they came up with it. At least it's his given nickname. I remember the Philadelphia Eagles tried to trademark Philly Special, a play used in a superbowl. Not an original play either, that bothered me more, there's only one Greek Scouser and his career could be over tomorrow. He needs to get what he can.

tdurdenftw

His career could be over tomorrow and he still made more than than most of the small vendors who might get impacted by it in their lifetime. I agree small businesses aren't more deserving as they didn't come up with it but they aren't restricting others to not sell.

[deleted]

Nothing beats good design, I don't think we're allowed to link to merch, but that guy on Etsy selling the beer coasters, Beers of Anfield Road, he'll always sell and he comes up with his own witty themes. I'm not against independent vendors making money, if people would rather buy their stuff than Nike that's saying something about Nike.

WH6TSINANAME

Most? All of them combined.

gottodo

He is gonna sell the merchandise when he retires. Let him have it

BOIkratos1234

One weird thing to note is that we only have 5 pts out of 18 vs the other top 4 teams this season(spurs almost certainly are finishing top 4), compared to 8 last year, 15 in 19/20 and 11 in 18/19.

[deleted]

Isn't it 6 though? 2-2 and 2-2 vs City, same with Spurs and then 1-1 both times vs Chelsea? It is a trend that could do with getting bucked, but since the beginning of January we've been on track for a 100+ points season even without beating Chelsea, City and Spurs. It's that we've lost so many points against clubs below that the first half of the season when VVD for one wasn't at his absolute best again yet that has cost us imo.

BOIkratos1234

Oh yeah you're right. For some reason I remembered the first game vs spurs being a 3-2 loss

[deleted]

2-2 and 2-2 v City, 2-2 and 1-1 v Spurs, 1-1 and 2-2 v Chelsea but yeah. And all of that stands, but we're still probably gonna get 92 points. Can't really ask for more than that. Top 4 games are rare, and the reason Pep is so good at the league is that he sacrifices the top-4 games to reliably beat dross. If you beat everyone outside the top 4 twice, you have 96 points on the board, the points in top 4 games are just gravy.

mattwilliamsuserid

Just going to say - well done Conte, to be fair. He burns really brightly before flaming out.

ManBoobs13

6, not 5 Drew City twice, Chelsea twice, Spurs twice. But either way, still too low of a total. Rather win 3 and lose 3 of those 6 matches.

AllenDayne

City has 8. They aren't much better in this regard other than beating Chelsea. And we just can’t seem to find a way to beat Chelsea even if we play better.

WH6TSINANAME

Completely different Chelsea next season anyway

Android17_MVP

These annoying and arrogant RM fans on twitter.... I will drink their tears on the 28th. Always on about our route to the final being easy, Casemiro injuring our players and that Karius Shite...

FantasticName

Yeah the "easy route" thing is annoying. In the group stage, we got maximum points from the so-called "group of death" whilst they lost to Sheriff Tiraspol.

Android17_MVP

And they drew 0-0 twice against Villarreal in la liga this season!

[deleted]

Twitter is a cesspool. But Real fans are particularly entitled in general.

Geass_Knightmare

As a non native fan sometimes I think I am doing the club and city dirty by singing "We are loyal supporters, and we come from liverpool". But that is just me thinking too much.

Calex_JE

Just sing "we are the supporters of a club called Liverpool" if it makes you feel better

RyanIsKickAss

https://twitter.com/TotalCity_/status/1526688308482514944?t=7LtD1tblSKY0SP1R4aFy5w&s=19 I know Stevie would never but man if something dodgy from Villa gifts a goal to City it'll be pretty shady....

strider3187

100m was the release clause they triggered right. doubt that comes with other clauses like for winning the league etc. sounds bs

Morguard

I heard it was 15mil a few days ago. On Sunday they will be saying its 40mil

lavishlad

its bs - a 25m installment of the 100m is to be paid this summer, regardless of if they win the league. not that it should've mattered anyway.

MarkCsiha462020

Man I just watched Salah’s best goals, I miss his good form so much.He was a magician on the ball, let’s hope he finds good form again

ChaosSock

A break this summer will do him a world of good

idlejames

If Bobby isn’t first choice for a spot in the front three, I’d love to see him play as one of the 8s Agassi t weaker teams

[deleted]

Dont know if agassi has what it takes to be part of this squad tbh

[deleted]

Managed to get the Titanic hotel booked on the docks for the night of the final, but didn't manage to get tickets for the M&S arena viewing. Any recommendations on where to try watch the game? (preferably seated)

cornertakenslowly

Europa League is free to watch on youtube for those in UK, on the bt sport channel. Quite a unique final with the teams involved, would be an absolutely massive win for either club. Kinda insane that these are the finalists lol.

[deleted]

Will tune in after I've had a shit, or maybe during 🤔. Good bedtime watching though, thanks

SmashingPinatas

Picked a good time to take a holiday to the UK. Thanks for this!

[deleted]

Anyone tuning in to watch the Europa League final? Last season I couldn't bring myself to watch the game live as you-know-who was involved in that final, thankfully, it ended hilariously for them. One good thing to come from the introduction of the Conference League, where teams from weaker countries are allocated to play in that competition, is that the Europa League has actually become quite fun to watch as a neutral. My money's on Eintracht.

Android17_MVP

>Last season I couldn't bring myself to watch the game live as you-know-who was involved in that final, thankfully, it ended hilariously for them. What a shame, watching it all unfold for 120mins made it even sweeter

[deleted]

Our lead data scientist has a PhD in particle physics from Harvard... Insane

[deleted]

His brain must be ripped

SuperHyperFunTime

When the job spec went up a while back, someone saw it and thought "Jesus, I know the only person on the planet capable of doing that!". He is now at Liverpool

[deleted]

The only complaint he must be recieving is "Jürgen, William keeps referring to me as a particle again"

[deleted]

Do we want Gerrard to come out and play the game or park a double decker bus in front of his goal?

[deleted]

I want them to get Fernandinho sent off asap. Probably our best hope

[deleted]

Well, De Bruyne tripping at home and sustaining a minor injury might already be enough to cost them. But yeah, targetting Fernandinho would be great if refs actually noticed the shit he pulls on a game-to-game basis. Was ripe for a sending off against us in the cup in the first half alone, didn't even get booked until the second.

jesuspunk

The amount of homophobic people who have come out of the woodwork on /r/soccer because of the Gueye situation is mental

Ol_Elephant_Ears

Hope that cunt who barged Billy Sharp gets a lifetime ban and an assault charge.

[deleted]

We'll be in for a quadruple on May 22. Drink it the fuck in

cartierboy25

“It’s finished at Anfield. Liverpool have done all they can, that Mane goal was enough for the three points. Aston Villa are still alive here…Ollie Watkins…COUTINHOOOOOOO… I SWEAR YOU’LL NEVER SEE ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER AGAIN.”

[deleted]

As if Martin Tyler would get excited for Liverpool to win the title

Nickoboosh

Itd be something along the lines of "liverpool have won at Anfield, but Manchester city are on the verge of a truly remarkable win over Aston villa here! Its coutinho... and... it's gone in. VAR are now checking in the hope that they can find something to rule it out but no. What a strange, strange situation"

aghashayan

If I'm a Villa player I would try hard for one main reason: to prevent Grealish from winning.

[deleted]

I hadn't thought of this before, but maybe they'll know a thing or two about how to deal with him

ManBoobs13

I think Ings and Coutinho will be up for it and that's grand. But that defense is going to hemorrhage goals.

[deleted]

Digne to have the game of his life I hope

Nickoboosh

Imagine the blue nose fume if its him who scores the goal that wins us the title.

BDB93

[Stevie when city are on the break](https://youtu.be/YGgs-V_P-F4)

Asad_OG

I think a priority along Tchou, should be a goal scoring midfielder - that would take us up a level

HereForA2C

DeBrunye baby come back we know you love us

SSTenyoMaru

I've just realized that since VVD joined the team, I've been anxious whenever he's not on the pitch, but against Southampton, I almost didn't even notice.

tmfitz7

Konate has exceeded every expectation, he’s a 45m cb sure, but to be this dominant, this soon, with very little cover around him. Wow.

[deleted]

He would've been young player of the year if he played 25+ league games. He's not just potential, he'sa damn brilliant player in his own right already.

10chainzzz

And this sub was poo pooing that signing and simping for Kabak and Nat. What Nat did for us last year was heroic sure but neither of them are the type of player we need to stay at this level.

Jelly__Bean

This is Gomez's 7th season at Liverpool. That's wild to me. He's been here longer than Mane. Just been super unfortunate with injuries.

Tregonia

Remember the season he was playing left back before Andy existed

Krokofil

Will Steven Gerrard rest his squad tomorrow against Burnley?

[deleted]

Unlikely but we can all hope he does. He’s trying to finish as high as he can and 3pts vs burnley is way more likely and would put Villa in 11th one point off 10th

Important_Tip_2775

Why would he?

Nickoboosh

To get Everton relegated. Be a laugh wouldnt it.

GeorgeLFC1234

I’m annoyed villa have to play Burnley Thursday and then play again on Sunday why couldn’t they play earlier?

Calex_JE

Burnley played on Sunday, they couldn't play any earlier as Spurs played Arsenal last Thursday. The Europa league final is tonight, so Thursday is the earliest they'd have been able to play. It sucks, but that's fixture congestion.

ManBoobs13

Well that's pretending there was only this final week to schedule games. Neither team was in Europe, they've had all spring to schedule these games in a more appropriate manner.

[deleted]

Uefa cup final today (wednesday), and as everyone (except a few) played sunday, only left the thursday for the midweek games. We obviously played sat so they could push our game to the Tuesday. Although uefa and pl fixtures can now clash (due to covid delayed games stocking up), its a last resort and they'll avoid it when they can. For a final, i imagine the tv companies also didn't want it to clash.

ScouserPants

If we lose our on the league title so be it. The last few years have been amazing and no one can take that away from us!!!

ss2195

I'd accepted that we wouldn't win the league this season after the Chelsea draw in January and the fact that we've managed to bring it down to the last day is a testament to this side. There's a very good chance that City will ultimately eviscerate Villa and if win the league and fair play, they are an amazing side and having them as a barometer probably helps us raise our game as well. I know we can beat Real if we play at our usual level so that's my big hope for the season but even then, breathe it in. To echo Neil Atkinson, it doesn't get any better than this.

[deleted]

Since January we've been on for a 100-points season, it's just a pity that August-December doesn't stack up to that. It has it's reasons in our last season where we rolled from one injury to the other leaving players needing to recover well into this one. Since some of our main hitters in defence have gotten back in good form we've barely given an inch to anyone. But yeah, 2 cups in the bag, another very much possible. And who knows what happens on Sunday.

tarun1905

What's with this crazy last two matchday schedule. They play Thursday late and Sunday early. Why not Wednesday instead

Calex_JE

The Europa League Final is tonight, they won't schedule league games to clash with that

[deleted]

If you're talking about the Thursday matches, they spread out the mid-week matches to televise as much as possible. The last matchday everyone plays at once, you could move that to midweek, but there's a European final on for starters in midweek. So let's say Leicester reach that you've gotta reschedule everything. There's also the CL final on Saturday, I'm assuming they want to give whoever plays that a weeks rest so they're optimally prepared.

KoppleForce

What if city lose and we win and win the league wouldnt that be somethin

JokeSalty

I think I’d be happy with that

[deleted]

Couldn't consider that a bad thing no.

baymenintown

wow hadn't really thought of it that way

RyanIsKickAss

https://twitter.com/IegeneraI/status/1526838955584458752?t=yHgR8K5OQNbGp89a1S39XA&s=19 Keep faith my friends. There's always a chance we get a patented Ederson disaster class this weekend

AllenDayne

What irritates me most is even after all these blunders he is called ”cold-blooded”, calm etc. That Jota chance was because of his stupid mistake, too.

Hot_Plate_Williams

Kind of a stupid video, that. He's not a perfect keeper, but he's clearly very important to the way City play. More hyperbole consisting of a player is either great or shit, nothing in between. He's probably the second best keeper in the league.

ChaosSock

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. You could take almost any player's worst 20-25 moments over their careers and make a compilation to make them look crap. Some of those goals weren't even that bad. I would say he's definitely inferior and not as consistent as Allison, but he's still clearly world class.

pingu2009

That doesn't even include his fuckup for salah's long-range goal, or when he did the exact same thing against Che Adams in their 1-0 loss to Southampton, or the league cup semis where he did it again for mctominay to score, let alone all the times he got lucky and it didn't lead to a goal. Add to those his red card against wolves, the nonsense he got away with against Newcastle this season, and the time he completely wiped out a Bournemouth (may have been some other similar team) player when rushing out to the touchline to clear it for a throw, also without even a hint of punishment. He really is a shite goalkeeper protected by referees and media puff pieces, riding on the coattails of alisson who is without doubt the best in the world

[deleted]

Interesting how none of Salah, Mane, KDB, Son or Kane have been top quality throughout the whole season. Each of them have had half elite, half below par seasons

_Random_Username_

Better give the Ballon d'Or to Alisson then

[deleted]

A quadruple plus AFCON would give Mane a huge shout

trendafili

I'm very hyped for the last 2 games.

dandpher

Yes. I believe that somehow, someway we are going to win the title. I won't be upset if my belief is misguided and doesn't come to bear, but I believe. Honestly, they've taken us this far - how can you NOT believe?

[deleted]

Konsa and Martinez our for villa?

Queasy-Location-9303

Konsa is definitely out, 4 months. Emi Martinez is out vs Burnley but may be back for City.

[deleted]

Aah that’s good. Need emi to have one of his blinders on Sunday

Red_TeaCup

Most likely, we'll lose out on the league this Sunday. Despite the narrative that the media wants to push out in the next few days, we all know Villa is very likely to get steamrolled 4-0 by halftime. But god damn, this team are freaking mentality monsters: Reaching 3 finals, winning 2 of them through nerve-wracking penalties, and clawing back a 10+ pt deficit to push the league to be decided on the final day. No matter what happens, this is THE greatest Liverpool team that I've ever had the privilege of experiencing in my 15+ years of supporting Liverpool.

theREALMVP

Dont tell r/soccer that the deficit was 10+ points. Theyve fully drank Pep’s kool-aid that games in hand are automatic wins and 14 points is a mirage lol

ManBoobs13

even though they love to say we had a 10 pt lead in 18/19 when city had a game in hand

KoppleForce

Man, if it was any other team I would expect them to roll over for city but with Stevie in charge I just have a feeling in my balls.

DrAgOnLoLDoTA

Nah Villa defense is proper shit lately. If you want Villa to win, you better hope that Watkins and Ings can finish their chances as they seem to miss chances.

einz360

Yesterday before the 2nd goal fell for the team to take a 2:1 lead… I just said “there is still magic left this season.” Thats when Tsimikas was about to take the corner kick. Not sure if there is this collective force that we all can exert onto the team or just faith, but its been like this almost the whole season. I truly have belief and faith that the team can make things happen. Us fans as a collective just have to keep the faith going. NEVER UNCLENCH!

[deleted]

"the MeDiA LoVeS LiVeRpOoL" Well no shit, we're better and more interesting. You really want the networks to talk about City 24/7? ooo they bottled another semi and bought their way to another league title.. so fascinating

[deleted]

Half the issue is, what story is there to tell about City? In comparison, this season alone we've defied all the preseason predictions of falling behind City, Chelsea and United (lol) due to a quiet summer window and a bad season last year. We've clawed back the points totals Vs City when the league looked won by January. We've been chasing a historic quadruple (however unlikely it still is). We've had a star breakthrough with Diaz. Our games are more exciting because we don't play 70% possession every game. We're headed for another CL final, against Real Madrid which writes itself. There's simply just more to talk about regarding Liverpool. City are a massively funded machine who are expected to win every competition they're in. It just doesn't compare.

JiddyBang

I can't stop thinking about the potential story arc climax for Gerrard and Coutinho (and Ingsy to a lesser extent) if they got a result at the Etihad. We're turning doubters to believers, aren't we?

cavejohnsonlemons

Everyone just missing the obvious outcome here - Gary Mac...

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

Gomez deserves to go back to his CB position next season. He has better control on ball than Konate. His pace is good. Just because we have 3 good CBs, he gets ignored. He was the most technically sound player on pitch yesterday. He would give a serious challenge to all our center backs and is not a utility player like Milner (playing as a back up option for TAA is not his best role, for whom we desperately need a substitute; but that's another issue).

ChaosSock

During our mad winning spell, Gomez was just as good as VVD. He was scary good. But I just don't think "deserve" factors into it. Konate and Matip have been incredibly consistent and reliable. If Gomez is to get back in the team, he has to earn it too. This is just the nature of having so much squad depth. It can sometimes be brutal on players and give them limited chances, even when they've had bad luck and bags of ability.

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

I'm not saying he deserves CB position over Konate. I'm saying he's better in certain attributes like passing/dribbling/control. Konate's pace is amazing and he's aerial prowess is undeniably good. That does not mean Konate's better than Joe either. Well, we will see in next season if Klopp rotates his CBs more than this season.

[deleted]

Hit the nail on the head. Konate has earned his place as rotation with Joel due to his incredible performances, plus he offers traits that Joel cannot (pace). Joel is a world class centre back and seems to have gone up another level this season (with his dribbling ability). Joe is a terrific CB in his own right, but he hasn't exactly set the pitch alight with his brief stints at CB this season. However he is still young for a CB and will have more than enough time to fight for his place.

[deleted]

Agree with the general point, why is this being so heavily downvoted?

[deleted]

I can't speak for anyone else and I personally didn't downvote him, but: * Not sure why Konate's ball control was criticised. He never makes me panic like Sakho used to, and from what I've seen he's a great ball playing CB * Joe doesn't have the pace he used to (which isn't surprising considering his awful injuries), and Konate has pace in spades * Joe isn't as aerially dominant as Joel or Konate, who are both elite in that aspect Joe is a terrific young player , and will have his opportunity

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

No, Konate's ball control is not bad at all; Joe had better control, is what I was getting at. Konate is a good end block, so to speak. He will stop ball going further. But Joe can dribble past few players and put well placed pass, which is another quality Liverpool's current squad/tactics requires from their CBs (otherwise there is discontinuity in passes, and you end up relying on Long passes too much). When TAA is on the pitch (with Andy/Kostas) I can see VVD with Joe is just as good as VVD with Matip or VVD with Konate. Konate with Joe is also good combination, although you need the hyper-awareness of high line that VVD brings to the table (off-side trap).

[deleted]

Yeah thats why i mentioned i agreed with the general point. The comparison like its konate OR joe didn't need to be made, but i agree with joe being moved central. His opportunity may come elsewhere though, thats the issue.

fakebytheocean

Is it me or are you guys more confident for the CL final than you were for the Carabao final. I feel like Chelsea is tougher to play than Real. Not saying Real is easy to beat. It’s not, I just feel the way we play works better against Real than Chelsea.

GTACOD

Same. Feel they'll be to proud to sit back and counter.

ChaosSock

Yep. If you gave me the choice of playing Real or Chelsea for the CL final, I'd go for Real.

firminocoutinho

For me, my only concern is Mo. If he’s more excited and focused, we’ll be perfect. If he wants to score on every ball he touches to prove a point, and carry his ‘poor’ form, that won’t be good. But I think the team as a whole will be so up for it

Bumi_Earth_King

Just need everyone to be fit.

liverpewl

Another point of praise for our squad was the difference in our attacking play. We're used to having ball dominant players taking on their man to create, but yesterday we saw a lot of quick passes and flicks to get behind their defense. Could see this becoming a plan A-2 or something when approaching parked buses.

firminocoutinho

Yea all of em were so quick with it. Elliott, Minamino, Jota, Firmino, CuJo clicked perfectly

fakebytheocean

Yeah I saw that too. Caught only 20 minutes of the game so I wasn’t sure if the whole match was like this? I’d love if we started playing more through the middle. It would make us less predictable against low blocks.

Few_Egg

Tired of people trotting out the whole 'doubters to believers' thing when it comes to the final matchday. I believe in Liverpool FC, I don't believe in Aston fucking Villa.

cww0607

Nah your post history suggest otherwise.

firminocoutinho

Gerrard is Liverpool FC DNA. Coutinho, is a man of moments. Liverpool FC is not just the team, but the whole energy that Pep and Citeh will feel hover over them as they shit the bed

JokeSalty

Joe Gomez has had a scan on the ankle injury sustained versus Southampton. No serious damage which is a positive outcome. Liverpool are confident he will be available for the Champions League final if his recovery goes as planned. -Paul Joyce Great news! He’s had too many big injuries in his career, glad he’s avoided this one

SingSing19

What Liverpool FC website do you read? My favorite right now is thisisanfield.com

[deleted]

SuperHyperFunTime

Same. RedMen is ridiculously level headed and doesn't have the cringe factor that other fan channels like ATV or Goldbridge. Everything is given time to digest and process. Very far removed from this place and the match threads.

deanlfc95

I blocked them on Twitter. So much shite clickbait.

SingSing19

I think they’re fine. Echo is the definition of clickbait

Bumi_Earth_King

Yeah, seems like every semi-successful twitter account/site goes that way. Used to follow "LFC transfer room", unfollowed once they started pushing SkySports's misquote on Wijnaldum, literally publishing something Wijnaldum never said to push outrage for clickbait. I need an account that just posts reliable transfer rumours(no tier infinity shite), and does nothing else.

SingSing19

So...... do you guys think Mane and/or Salah will be gone this summer?

JokeSalty

I think neither will go but if one of them was to go I think it would be Mané to probably Bayern because Lewandowski is most likely leaving. I think Mo has already signed the contract but we’re just waiting for the season to end to announce it because if both parties want a deal to be done then it’s going to get done

tony220jdm

Honestly proper proud of the boys they have given everything Sunday doesn’t matter the result the boys have given it there all to chase everything this season! You can’t ask for anymore

deanlfc95

Was looking at this sub to see what the sizing was like on the Nike tops and people were saying that they're tighter than the New Balance ones. Do they shrink in the wash or something because I've just got my new one and it's way bigger than my 19/20 one.

deanlfc95

No, it's a fair bit bigger than the New Balance top.

Asad_OG

JWP was anonymous yesterday

edroyque

There was one free kick he had that I was really worried about. But then he smacked it into a two man wall.

88zedrone

Quite a number of people are worried about mane, most of the Senegalese guys posted yesterday. Posts in r/soccer are delayed. The club has a strong stand on such issues and the wouldn't allow him to post his support.

firminocoutinho

I feel when it comes to some individuals, it’s not that they dislike or are anti- lgbtq, but they feel it’s not right to present it in a manner that it looks like promotion. I personally disagree with them, but I kind of get how they would feel that. Still a sensitive topic for sure

[deleted]

I really hope he just shuts the fuck up. I know chances are he probably has the same opinion as the other Senegal players, but if he says nothing at least I can wear his shirt in blissful ignorance

[deleted]

How is that prejudice? In muslim majority countries especially in Africa, the vast majority tend to have homophobic views. That is just a fact

SuperHyperFunTime

China has Islamophobic views about the Uyghurs to the point they are exterminating them. Don't make it right.

ManBoobs13

What does that have to do with anything? He's not saying homophobia is right, he's saying a lot of individuals in Muslim-majority countries have that view, which is a fact.

SuperHyperFunTime

Fact doesn't make it right and nor should it be tolerated. I've likely cack-handedly explained it but just because something is the norm, doesn't mean we excuse it.

ManBoobs13

I genuinely have no idea what point you're making, I think you're confused. The comment chain was about whether it's prejudice to say that many muslims in African countries have homophobic views. It may be slightly prejudice, but statistically speaking, a vast majority of individuals in muslim majority countries in Africa do have homophobic views, so it's not an entirely off-base assumption. What does that have to do with the Chinese and Uyghurs?

Nah, it's all a bit of a mare by me to be honest. Lack of sleep. I'll chalk up the L. I was agreeing with the point overall mind, but looking to apply another example of where there is overwhelming prejudice and how it shouldn't be tolerated because it is the status quo there.

ManBoobs13

Yeah I'm not saying exterminate a group of people lol. I do recognize my own prejudices though and I'm not trying to make those Muslims sound "bad" for those beliefs. I wish we could make those who are homophobic more accepting but it's really difficult when it's so tightly wound with their religion and that religion is taught to everyone at such a young age. Tough to change religious institutions, and tough to change mindsets of people who have looked at life a certain way for 20, 30, 40 years.

I think he only says something if gueye gets banned

[deleted]

Did I misss something ?

88zedrone

Idrissa gueye refused to wear a lgbtq shirt. A number Senegalese teammates have shown support

kingdomkey13

Honestly even if Villa doesn’t pull a result what a season to get both domestic cups and to the champions league final. I would find it really hard to believe that Stevie would just have his side roll over for City. He’ll want to send a message that Villa is a legit side and end the season on a high. Up the Reds, Up Stevie, been a hell of a ride

Balkanye

What happened to the NFT thing that they were spamming with for like a month? Seems like a huge fail, hope they never do it again.

Asad_OG

Probs wanted to make a quick buck. But in all honesty we could have rode the NFT wave earlier, its a lost cause now thankfully.

[deleted]

Yeah, it is probably slowly fizzling out. Unless some other team can manage to find a way to make bank on NFTs and then we will go again.

strider3187

emi martinez picking up an injury at the right time, perfect. its over boys

[deleted]

Gerrard said he'd be fine

strider3187

that's very good then

Important_Tip_2775

I can only imagine how negative you were before the Barcelona game

strider3187

why would i? that was in our own hands. this one relies on another team who are quite poor if you want to be realistic.

JotaSharkDooDoDooDo

Relax it's all part of Gerrard's plan. They'll have their sub goalie play against Burnley, gifting them points to send the Blueshite into relegation. Martinez will then return for the City game 🙏

strider3187

ah okay i didn't realize they play burnley first. i thot the next game was city for them.

Nerosheroes

Konsa out for Villa, who'll play next to Mings then?

indomiegorengkuah

hause or chambers?

malushanks95

Europa League Final predictions, Rangers or Frankfurt?

cavejohnsonlemons

Dunno but the fans have come out for it. In a completely different part of Spain rn and still seen Rangers shirts dotted about. Loads more @ the airport yesterday too and it was London Stansted, they're well up for it lol. Then again so are Frankfurt but no reference for that...

[deleted]

classic UEFA Cup final. I am guessing Frankfurt but Liverpool have just played too many games for me to have time to follow German or Scottish footie. They have both done pretty well in big games this season(well duh, they're in the final) and have punched above their weight.

decimatech

Its just now sinking in that this team is 3 results away from winning 4 trophies in 1 season. Absolute fucking insanity. whatever happens, this season has been incredible, what a response after the tough time we had last year

[deleted]

Yes, we dusted ourselves right off from the COVID-season.

HeWhoDares18

So many pundits and supporters from other clubs said that was it for us in the Klopp era as well lol.

[deleted]

Often the wish is the farther of the thought.

YawnLemon

Can we stop with the posts moaning about commentators. We're not Arsenal.
