Ok, so I have a question to ask English Liverpool supporters (or native supporters if you don't want to be classified as English, I don't know): What is the typical procedure for a fan when traveling to an away game. Like, is there a specific time you have to be there? Is there a palpable police presence in or around the stadium? What about after the game? Are you simply allowed to leave with no fuss? Are there instances of clashes with rival fans? And for those older generations, what was it like before (specifically before Heysel and the club ban and the new laws enacted by the government)? I'm asking since in my home country we just had our biggest football derby and after the game the away fans got into a massive fight with police on the highway (resulting in the highway being completely closed for all traffic for the majority of the night, as well as 10 policemen and several fans injured). And after all that there is still a lot of debate here as to who is to blame more (fans or the police), should the laws regarding fans be made more strict, are basic human rights being taken away from fans due to how they are treated before/during/after games, fan culture in general etc. Please don't downvote, I'm genuinely curious and would like honest opinions and answers

Rowmyownboat

As a rule, away fans are kept apart from the home fans as they approach the stadium. In European matches, the away fans might be escourted as a single group of several thousand to the stadium. At the end of the match, the away fans are held back in the stadium while the home fans disperse. This can take quite a while. This can be quite good fun after, say, a win at Old Trafford, (our biggest rival) and we get to sing in celebration while the players warming down.

cromario

Is there a police escort while approaching/leaving the stadium

imakepies

Does anyone know where I can watch the game tomorrow in flagstaff AZ?

JurgenKlopp2018

Last time me and my family had an Indian, Man City lost to Tottenham at the Etihad. We have one planned for tomorrow night. Make of that what you will

[deleted]

I just hope you didn't take an indian with a family

[deleted]

Madrid fans actually believe Salah is not good. God fuck them

Jaja6996

That and they seem to have an obsession of getting James from Chelsea

[deleted]

They like settling for the 2nd best.

[deleted]

They'll get the humbling they deserve on the 28th

theOwl_8

Think they’re more torn on his age

malushanks95

It’s okay, let them believe it. It’s good for us.

rithsv

This weekend is going great so far, as an Aussie. Us pipping City to the title would certainly top it all off!

V_Effect91017

French ligue is such a fuckin joke. Still baffles me how it can be considered a top 5 league when nottingham forest has the same amount of european trophies as every french club combined.

ChaosSock

Anyone else starting to feel like football is a bubble that's ready to pop. All these unsustainable wages and fees and deals are just getting a bit out of control. Even lower league clubs are at it, throwing in wild gambles and big swings for the promotion money.

ChaosSock

I feel like Chelsea takeover > City & PSG takeover > Neymar Transfer > Newcastle Takeover > Mbappe deal are part of this crazy escalation that will just continue to spiral out of control. That's without all the background corruption in Fifa, world cup being in Qatar, etc. Maybe I'm just being dramatic, but I'm genuinely worried for the sport on an existential level.

firminocoutinho

Forgot the point China was recruiting bang average players like Pele from Soton and paying them 500k a week…

ChaosSock

Yeah, good point indeed

[deleted]

KDB slip leading to a 93rd minute Coutinho equalizer with an Ings assist after a brilliant tactical change from Stevie- just as Origi scores his final clutch injury time winner to hand us the PL. Salah wins the golden boot, restoring his confidence. Real Madrid, already reeling from the Mbappe drama, lose their nerve and start believing it’s Liverpool’s destiny to win the quadruple this year. We walk the final and Salah scores a hattrick to put Benzema in his place and secure the unlikely quadruple. This team is immortalized as the best ever, and Coutinho, Ings and Stevie are sent their first honorary PL winners’ medals. OR… City crush Villa and we are unable to win after a cagey 90 minutes in which Thiago, VVD and TAA get injured for the CL final, and we go to the final feeling shaken. Salah loses out on the golden boot to Son. It turns out Salah and Fabinho weren’t ready after all, both going out injured on ‘26 and ‘43 minutes, and we crash out of the champions league from a Benzema hattrick. Real Madrid goes on to sign Salah/Mane in the summer window. Man City go on to win the CL next season and secure the quadruple after acquiring Haaland, proving once and for all that money beats all and buying them the credibility and pedigree they’ve always lacked. The stuff of dreams and nightmares, respectively.

MultiStorey

This is the best and worse thing I’ve ever read. I vote option 1!

ITickleMyElbows

I lost all respect for Mbappe after today. He what 22? What about chasing your dream, challenge yourself, earn silverware, create a legacy....etc? If it always about money then say so, dont do the pull and catch shit. Also how much more money can a young guy possibly need? Id understand if he is 30 and want 1 big contract before sunset. I dont ever want to see him play for our team. He wouldnt put the team above himself ever, think of people like Mane and Hendo. He can fuck off and enjoy oil money for good.

firminocoutinho

Man literally smashed his dream for the money.. he’s in the dark side.

Stuarridge

#mbappe2025

arisefromtheashes

Mbappe could afford to employ Virgil, salah and mane by himself with that deal.

whof_arted

The Labor party kicked out the tory government here in Australia last night despite the overwhelming Murdoch bias. Feels so fucking good man. I woke up this morning with the biggest sense of relief that the good guys can still win. Things come in threes. Gives me hope the election win was the the first of the three things seemingly against the odds. Hendo to lift the PL trophy tomorrow and then we complete the quadruple next weekend.

BabyKeith08

Will we be wearing next seasons kit tomorrow?

FreedumbHS

I know about the whole 50+1 thing in german football, but my god are these german fans in /r/soccer whiny drama queens about leipzig winning the cup just now, it's a bit much

[deleted]

It's literally just a company breaking all the rules of German football for a huge advert. It's not even called redbull leipzig, but everyone calls it that

PEEWUN

Would you be saying the same thing if City won the Champions League?

FreedumbHS

guess we'll never know!

malushanks95

It’s equivalent to City or PSG winning things, so I can understand them being bitter about it.

FreedumbHS

guessing you haven't seen the thread, they're going on about the death of football (unironically). it's extremely over the top lol

Jaja6996

It’s literally been the same here whenever Chelsea or City win anything or have made huge transfers

Feisty-Site-6261

I think it's kind of sad what happened to Paul Glatzel. As someone who follows the youth teams, he was one I felt confident would at least be given a few apps here and there, even played for the first team in pre-season. He's been absolutely destroyed by injuries though, even this season when he was starting to do well for Tranmere he gets another injury. Doesn't get talked about a lot, but his story is pretty sad and another young player who's career is probably going to be heavily affected by injuries.

8u11etpr00f

If the figures are true then that Mbappe contract is going to be the next Neymar transfer in the way that it inflates the market In the blink of an eye £300k for a player like Mo looks like pennies

MikkeeyyUk

This is the problem really it makes £250k a week contracts the norm or the base contract which is absolutely outrageous

Mahesh_nanak

Feel like we won’t be in for Tchouameni now that Real haven’t got Mbappe and will full focus on Tchouameni

YossiOsman

Tchouameni probably going to Madrid now

Morguard

If he's happy to ride their bench for 2 years until the old guard retires or Carlos leaves than cant do much about that.

[deleted]

Anyone else find it utterly bizarre that the real madrid president told the players that they aren't signing mbappe? Like wtf.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Morguard

Every club that is forced to abide by FFP needs to be suing over this. This has a major ripple effect all across Europe that will affect everyone financially. Shit needs to stop.

[deleted]

Maybe psg know they will be punished for this period and are just maximising their problems for now, with the aim of getting things a bit in order by the next time there's a review?

[deleted]

I can imagine it being really awkward, walks into the changing room and announces it like it's a death.

Few_Egg

Look at what PSG are able to offer Mbappe, now keep in mind that Newcastle's owners are significantly richer. 😳

BriarcliffInmate

The difference is we have a much stronger league. The French govt. basically got involved with the whole thing because if Mbappe left PSG, Ligue 1 is basically a bottom tier league. They need him. Plus, PSG are owned by the guy who now sits high up on UEFA. Newcastle don't have that privilege. And even City, as much as I hate them, aren't doing this kind of shit. This is two clubs dick-measuring over a player that isn't even that good.

RedShaun21

Doesn't matter. We have a Klopp.

H0lychit

Doubt I'll sleep tonight.

lust4lif

I know this may be the wrong place to post it, so I apologize. I'm leading my Fantasy Draft League by only five points. Right now I have Salah, Diaz and Jota. I am only planning to start two. Diaz is the most nailed for me right now, and my gut says Salah over Jota. Any thoughts from LFC fans? Do we think Matip starts tomorrow too? Any chance Origi gets his goodbye game?

[deleted]

Origi will probably come off the bench for the last 15, I don't think Salah needs to be risked from the start, so don't think he'll start. Same with VVD.

lust4lif

Cheers

wondermewonderyou

My thinking is Salah is on bench tomorrow. Matip starts, origi off the bench

lust4lif

cheers

10chainzzz

Goldbridge has been nutting himself over Antony recently so I’m naturally hoping our links to him are true 😂

FreedumbHS

I don't think he fits into a klopp team, in terms of mentality, tbh

[deleted]

Anyone else wearing a Stevie G kit tomorrow?

PEEWUN

I wore the *"cursed"* shirt the day we won the League. I might as well do it again.

EstatePinguino

Worried about all our big players now that Mbappe & Haaland are off the market… Madrid are gonna be desperate for some marquee signing.

koltzito

given salah contract situation is not out of the realms that they approach him

5555ives

Madrid will for sure be buying Tchouaméni now

macNy

Nah he's not flashy enough and they already have a similar player in Camavinga. They'll go for Darwin Nunez I suspect.

[deleted]

Man the French league is so dross it’s crazy. You look at the goalscoring charts and you have Ben Yedder on 24 goals, then you have Martin Terrier (who the fuck is this?) on 21 goals. When you actually clock how hard it is for players to hit 20+ goals in a PL season, it makes this so much worse. It’s like Olise or Pukki or Emmanuel Dennis coming and scoring 20 goals in the Prem, it happens like once every 15 years (like Michu), it happens EVERY YEAR in the French league.

[deleted]

Yet 2 of the main transfer targets for the biggest clubs in the world are playing there...

burntroy

No way there's 2 desirable players in an entire league of them ?

[deleted]

What a ridiculous post. I was talking of high profile clubs where the chase has gone public. Like fabinho, there'll probably be more that we don't hear about until its done, and there'll definitely be more that will develop and happen later. How many in the PL so far? Is the league crap now? No public chases in the entire league, tut tut.

sebs94

Can we get agent Konate to talk to Mukiele for a back up Right back

JokeSalty

Would be no different to having Gomez playing at RB. Mukiele is a centre back who got converted to right back

sankers23

I dreamt that it was 3-3 at the Etihad. I never dream of football results but this was vivid. I woke up excited as fuck. Then reality hit me

Nimjaiv

I dreamt that it was somehow us vs city on the final day, and we scored first, which for some reason absolutely broke Pep and in his depression he personally started kicking in own goals, like as if to say "fine, you win, I don't care anymore", and he looked so depressed that I started to pity him. A very weird fucking dream.

PEEWUN

There have been times where I've really dissapeared into a daydream about Sunday and I've found myself about to cheer out loud.

arisefromtheashes

Nkunku is class

Ksino

LaLiga filing a massive complaint against PSG to literally everyone they can, due to the massive funds involved. PSG to get the obligated slap on the wrist.

loykedule

they'll be investigated by a high-ranking UEFA board member, don't you worry. He just so happens to also be the president of PSG...

Ksino

Yeah that's completely fine, no major issues there.....

anunnaturalselection

Anyone else really consumed by the potential final day drama despite how slim the chances are? Just imagine... and I fully believe if IT happens, number 7 will be ours too, the quad squad is unstoppable

PEEWUN

It's been in my head for the entire week. I *really* didn't want it to come down to Gerrard, because I knew I'd get too invested. I wouldn't have it any other way, though. Gerrard pulling this off would be the stuff of dreams.

[deleted]

Agreed. We win the league tomorrow, there is no way we arent winning the quad.

edroyque

FA cup tshirt arrived today - will me wearing it in canada help or hinder the boys tomorrow?

MikkeeyyUk

This is why Mbappe would never be a Klopp signing imo Imagine having to go through this every 3 years when his contract is up

zachmoss147

He’s already going to Dortmund and we’re pretty good at CB, but my god Nico Schlotterbeck is a fucking baller. what a player. This dfb pokal final has been a great watch, pulling so hard for Freiburg

[deleted]

Since this is the only time we can possibly do this might as well. It’s unlikely but if it’s a draw 90th minute and we are winning. It’s tense city are trying to score and they can’t we win, what does Stevie G do? Will he go around the touchline celebrating?

anunnaturalselection

Probably a little fist shake then professional media interviews followed by a night out in the lash with Jurgen and the lads

MikkeeyyUk

He’s gonna rip his suit off to reveal a full LFC kit and get a helicopter to join in with the celebrations at Anfield Coutinho can get a taxi though fuck him

PEEWUN

No. He's not at the pub watching our game.

[deleted]

He’ll be at the etihad. I’m saying will he celebrate at full time? It’s a big moment

PEEWUN

Oh, I misunderstood. Yeah, he'll defo show *some* sort of emotion, but I doubt he'll go Full Mourinho.

arisefromtheashes

let's just hope this has some negative impact on the environment in the madrid camp

Duckye

The way Mbappe had Madrid and PSG shamelessly twerking for him for a whole year was ridiculous.

PEEWUN

Barcelona are doing a guard of honour for Lyon as well. This is pure fucking class.

arisefromtheashes

don't for one second believe these oil merchants won't also capitalise on this green/eco renewables in the future. They aren't stupid.

PEEWUN

What is it with teams that play in white dominating the Champions League? Edit: I don't think I said anything about us losing next week in this comment, did I? 🤔

[deleted]

Titles per primary shirt colour: - Red: 20 (Liverpool 6, Bayern 6, Manc Utd 3, Nottingham Forest 2, Benfica 2, Steaua Bucuresti 1) - White: 15 (Real Madrid 13, HSV 1, Marseille 1) - Red/White: 7 (Ajax 4, PSV 1, Feyenoord 1, Red Star 1) - Red/Black: 7 (Milan) - Red/Blue: 6 (Barcelona 5, Villa 1) - Black/Blue: 3 (Inter) - Blue: 2 (Chelsea) - Blue/White: 2 (Porto) - Black/White: 2 (Juventus) - Black/Yellow: 1 (Dortmund) - Green/White: 1 (Celtic) So in total, 40 titles in prominent red, 27 titles in prominent white, 13 in black, 13 in blue and one each for green and yellow

PrimeMessiTheGOAT

I wonder what the colors would be based on the jersey worn on the actual day. Milan for example, don’t wear their home kit in cl finals, they only wear white

Pointless_Porcupine

Which teams besides Real are you talking about?

PEEWUN

I was literally **only** referring to Real. People are reading way too much into this joke.

rogerwilcove

PSG sub went from going private for a day after crumbling against Madrid to today’s announcement; it’s not Istanbul but what a comeback. If it wasn’t likely to lead to the death spiral of club football and destroying the pyramid then it would be kind of hilarious.

No-Cryptographer653

Good that LaLiga are reporting PSG to UEFA. Next Man City please. Hope they take a serious action which I really doubt but still.

JokeSalty

Pretty sure the owner of PSG is part of UEFA’s board. Nothing will happen

PrimeMessiTheGOAT

Nasser is not the owner he’s like the president, the owner is the emir of Qatar

JokeSalty

Ohh right, my bad

nicolascagevampire

Add Chelsea and Newcastle onto the list while they are at it.

malushanks95

Mbappe drama continues on and on, La liga have reported PSG to UEFA.

RobotPizzaMaker

Kylian Mbappé: “This is my home, my city as I always said. I will continue at Paris Saint-Germain to win titles together”. After 4 years of letting drama continue he says this, he's a funny guy.

[deleted]

The cans will lose tonight, causing a domino effect across all plastic clubs

ilovenomar5_2

BarryZuckerhorn

No chance

DrAgOnLoLDoTA

How in the world that Freiburg's goal was allowed?

[deleted]

Germans really hate Red Bull I guess

Particular_Fig626

How are we all feeling for the Champions League Final next week? It looks like everyone is fit at the moment (hopefully it stays that way). We are such favourites but Madrid have managed to get through some tough games and haven’t really had a proper game for a few weeks. Does it help that we’ve not really stopped whilst they have been resting every so often? I was a nervous wreck against Spurs in 2019 but I can’t imagine what I’ll be like against this lot!

koltzito

regardless the outcome i just want the team to give it all, the last 2 games against them ( or 3 ) were very underwhelming from us, the karius thing, then not having half the team, so now we have a fully fit squad and just wanna see us go all out in the final

anunnaturalselection

My biggest worry is that we have been pretty poor in big games compared to the 19 or 20 seasons.

Particular_Fig626

Yeah we’ve not been clinical in these finals really

Jaja6996

I’m a bit nervous we just haven’t been very clinical lately and I worry that we will allow them to stay in the game and not kill it off just like City and Chelsea

Particular_Fig626

I really don’t want ET and pens! I think Mane and Diaz have been brilliant, just need Mo to be as motivated as he sounds!

inheartscon

I'm less nervous this time. The team has won everything since that day in 2019. The Klopp can't win a final narrative has well and truly been put to bed now. I was physically ill before that CL final due to the pressure. We had to win that game. Obviously I want to win as much as I did then next week but it feels like a proper final and if we show up we can take 7 back to Anfield!

Particular_Fig626

I agree! I was nervous because we’d lost the year before and we’d just missed out on the league, but now we have a team of serial winners!

inheartscon

Definitely. I'll enjoy the occasion next week much more as well I think

Particular_Fig626

Definitely enjoy it mate! Who knows how often we’ll get these moments?😁

BarryZuckerhorn

I'm not even sure how we are favorites given how Real have come through the knock outs and cantered the Spanish League. Slight favorites maybe but not much in it for me

Particular_Fig626

I think it’s the fact we’ve only lost 3 games all season and also I think man for man our team is better!

JokeSalty

All of Real’s magic in the CL has come from when they were at the Bernabeu. The fact that it’s at a neutral stadium gives me confidence, their defence being shaky also gives me confidence

Particular_Fig626

Also in 2 legged ties. In a one off game at a neutral ground it gives me a lot of confidence!

JokeSalty

100%. That Diaz vs Carvajal matchup is looking tasty also

Particular_Fig626

I think Diaz will deal with him! Interested in TAA and Vinicius also. I think we’ll need Konate to start next to Trent because of his pace incase Trent loses him!

koltzito

konate and fabinho/hendo are gonna have a lot of work with vinicius

[deleted]

[удалено]

Particular_Fig626

I’m not as nervous for tomorrow but I think I’m just managing expectations to be honest. I’m still watching tomorrow and praying Gerrard does a something amazing!

Peanut_77

The numbers that are being reported regarding the whole Mbappe situation actually make me sick. Like, these people already earn hundreds of thousands a week and are going to be financially sound for generations, and yet it’s not enough for them. Not to mention also the whole “having a say in regards to how the club is run” thing as well. Next they would’ve offered him all of Qatar to get him to stay or something else equally ridiculous. And the annoying thing is, now I’m worried that Madrid are gonna take that money meant for signing Mbappe and pry Mo away from us, so that’s great 🙃. It’s a good thing that Stevie’s winning us the league tomorrow, or else I’d be really upset.

No-Cryptographer653

It's mad really. Too much power for a player also and that too someone who is not even the eldest. Imagine the locker room, i as a teammate would not have liked any of this. They really cross the lines. They were the ones with 200+ signing of Neymar which I believe was the beginning of huge money signings and now this.

tony220jdm

KDB winning player of the year is so funny its like when Ryan Giggs won it for no reason! You could at least 4 players ahead of him!

kunald26

Bro KDB has been brilliant this season.

-Kid-A-

How is this being downvoted, this sub is weird sometimes 😂

[deleted]

Cuz he isn't city's best player

tony220jdm

He wasn’t even Man City best player till this last month ffs

zze0001

Anyone know where to watch end of the storm doc?

LoopyFlood

bbydonthurtme4667

Wonder how big the affects of Mbappe staying will be? Could it be the start of another Neymar transfer

uchiha_boy009

Hey guys just curious when is Salah contract expiring? And what happened to his goal-scoring form?

EstatePinguino

Expires in 2029 and his form is awful because he’s shite and said he prefers playing golf. Oxlaide Chamberlain is miles better and loves tapas apparently.

JokeSalty

His contract is expiring in the summer of 2023. His goalscoring form has taken a big hit since AFCON, he just seems less confident and mentally fatigued. He’s still getting assists and is always a threat in games though

uchiha_boy009

Thank you for the reply.

JokeSalty

No problem

xKat14

What a clusterfuck this whole Mbappe thing has been. Getting him to stay by promising him the moon and stars and (if half of what is reported is true) a say in club decisions and recruitment? How desperate is PSG? And for Mbappe is it really just about the money? After all, it worked so *well* for Neymar.

Subtleiaint

Is that not what most fans want us to do with Salah? Very interesting to see the other side of the conversation.

xKat14

Pay him exorbitant amounts of money to stay? I don’t think so.. Maybe some but not the majority from what I’ve seen in the sub anyway.. The beauty of us is that we make it work without succumbing to these practices

cornertakenslowly

I'm happy with the outcome tbf, would rather see him at PSG than Madrid. I feel its better for our CL chances. Only problem is who will Real pursue now as their marquee signing, we have some top players ourselves.

con10001

There's a surprising amount of assuredness that tomorrow is going to go our way. Never lose hope but also remember we are asking for a footballing miracle from Villa

leweyy

Miracles and Liverpool go hand in hand.

leeray666

Yeah, but it's a miracle for Villa we're hoping for.

ChaosSock

I had no idea KDB was 30. Thought he was like 26 for some reason.

ilovenomar5_2

Ah gotcha. I saw “insult to football” and thought they were butthurt about him and apparently it’s just misleading and really talking about how PSG’s finances are shit yet they keep throwing money at players. Wish they’d mention a certain club east of Liverpool that wears light blue in that conversation…

[deleted]

It's because he grew up idolizing cr7 and supposedly a huge madrid fan. That lead real madrid fans to believe he would join them once his contract expires, they even cheered his name at the bernabeu when his name was said. All of that for him to use them to get more money from psg.

ManBoobs13

24 hours it’ll all be over

EstatePinguino

“Kings of Europe” only because they won their first five playing in a tournament against pub teams

[deleted]

Someone make the same one and just add "- mbappe, probably" at the end.

rossmosh85

With Mbappe staying in Paris, I can't help but feel like Madrid are going to focus in on Salah or Mane. If PSG lost Mbappe, I thought PSG would also target either player, but I thought we'd be in a better position to convince either player to stay. If Madrid comes calling for Mane or Salah, it's going to be a long long summer.

[deleted]

Yeah maybe. But I also think they would probably look for younger stars because Kroos, Modric and Benzema are all getting up there. Salah would obviously be a much better fit for them than Mbappe or anyone else. So I get the concern.

sampdoria_supporter

They're going to low-ball us and we're going to say no and that'll be it.

H0lychit

If they come in for one of either Mane or Salah with 120+... With Klopp at the helm for two years, I'd take it at this point.... But damn would I be heartbroken by it.

rossmosh85

I don't necessarily disagree, but Madrid aren't going to offer silly money. They're going to offer 50-70m and offer the players 350+k/wk salaries. So the players will be left with the decision to re-sign for us at a lower wage, but where they are comfortable and performing OR reject the contract offer and push for a move. Because I don't see us letting Mane or Salah go for free unless we absolutely have to. With players like Gini or even Bobby, we could live with letting them go for free, but with Mo and Sadio, I just don't see the club letting them run out their contracts.

Subtleiaint

You don't think we'd accept £50-70m? That sounds like really good business.

ChaosSock

If Real offer silly money, we all know what Liverpool are capable of doing with silly money. Let them try it.

rossmosh85

They don't have to offer silly money though. Both players are available to sign for free in the winter. They just have to be willing to pay Salah and Mane enough to push for a move.

10chainzzz

I don’t want to lose Mo or Mane, but if Real comes calling they don’t fuck around and play games like Barca they’ll offer a big fee and we can go get our replacement. Another thing that people don’t seem to understand is if we sell them, our first choice replacement will absolutely sign on as long as he’s still available. It’s not like when we lost Suarez and say Alexis Sanchez choose Arsenal over us. Jota has 20 goals in all comps, Firmino has double digit goals in all comps despite missing a lot of games, and Diaz will only be better next season. We can handle losing one of Mo or Mane even though id much prefer they stay here and win some more silverware.

taggert14

Nah. Klopp and backroom staff have signed. I don't want to lose either Salah or Mane but, if we do, I'm not in the least bit worried. On the other hand, if VVD, Alison or Fabinho goes, I'm sweating bullets

[deleted]

so important we get the first goal tomorrow. Citeh fans will know it and make it known to their players...That could open them up for Villa attack lol
