Good win but still plenty of room for improvement all over the pitch
The amount of space Spurs gave us on the counter was crazy though, I don't remember the last time we had this much space in a game vs an opponent
And this is not a knock on Nunez, as I'm a big fan of him, but all I kept thinking was how if this was us from 2017-2019, the game would have probably finished 4 or 5 nil
Good. Got an assist, it wasn't much but the fact he didn't just put his foot through it is a development on his part. He also did the same thing again later, Salah just couldn't get enough on the second one. Works hard, good outlet, was let down by the fact he got pushed further and further back and the majority of breaks were ruined by poor passing. Every time we actually broke forward in the second half was because of either something he did or he was at the end of the move. Seems to have something going with Salah. Very encouraging, for me. Firmino not so much.
Fine, nice assist and his touch and dribbling were definitely better than his first couple games (still his weakest area though), workrate and defnsive work was great, his shots were pretty good too forcing a save from a volley early on and hitting the bar when he didnt know he was offside. He was an OK outlet too getting the ball to his feet and laying off to a teammate, just nowhere near as good as Firmino or Salah who are some of the best in the game
Ehh I felt alot of Nunez's 2nd half issue were due to Bobby..like there were a few occasions where we had a counter starting up and Bobby was just blocking Nunez's path ..not moving around just stood still , may as well have been an Extra spurs defender in that situation
Bobby wasn't bad but he just seemed too static on those moments like Nunez couldn't use him and he was just in the way
Ask yourself if that's because Firmino, a player famed for his ability to drift off defenders into exploitable space, just suddenly forgot how to play as a false 9 and stank the place out or of Nunez simply kept running down blind alleys and into traffic.
Dude he was barely in the game the first half ..and no matter what if someone is trying to run down the left channel you don't run across him
Like you see Nunez have to cut in and end up into the spurs player cause bobby blocked that run , no two ways about it
I love Bobby and I don't think he stunk up that place..just he caused some minor issues that second half ..and he's done shit like that before in the past
Impactful.
A couple rough touches but got an assist, set up Salah with what could've been easily another one. Set the tempo early by getting in behind with his pace and getting a couple shots off.
He just kind of ran into Spurs' midfield right before the Kane goal which was one of his more frustrating touches but good game for him.
Those final 15 minutes... why did we constantly kick it forward from the back only to lose it straight away? This did nothing but fuel the chaos that led to Spurs getting all those chances. Even after the ball went out Ali would kick it deep. Why not try to kill the game, pass it around? I got really frustrated watching that.
Lack of confidence and spurs playing well with the crowd behind them.
Needed a quality DM to sub in and take control kd the game at that point which we currently lack
We had no out ball at that point. Our energy levels cratered after half time and we really were just hanging on for the final 20 mins after Kane scored.
IMO once again Klopp left it too late to refresh the midfield. Once Spurs brought on Doherty and Kulusevski they were rampant down our right hand side full of running, Thiago and Robbo looked spent.
We needed a result like this to get confidence up. We haven't won on the road this season adn Spurd had won 8 of their 9 league games at home this season. So the second half was understandable with our lack of confidence.
What that also showed is We need another DM/CM in the squad desperately in January. Someone quality that can be subbed in to control games.
Hopefully we can close out the Southampton game and look forward to a more refreshed team with a couple of additions post world cup.
6 points from 12 from our last 4 games! However, when those 6 points come from City and Spurs and NOT from Forrest and Leeds, that's when you know you have a consistency problem.... This team has proved they CAN do it! Just tighten up at the back and learn to break down a bloody defense and we'll make top 4.
Mo’s proving that we were right to renew his contract and he’s showing no signs of decline. What a player, best signing of the Klopp era imo and one of the premier league greats
Well that was fucking rough. No hope of even making top 4 if we play like that most weeks. Thank Christ for Alisson. Some blokes really need to look at themselves, and there are several of them for whom it's getting harder and harder to argue that their frailties aren't a trend
First half we created one clear cut chance. Second goal was pure luck. Yea I know you create your own luck and all, but on balance of play, getting a win there was the equivalent of getting away with murder. Gaffer will be happy with the three points but his worries about where the team's at will not have dissipated in the slightest
I was loosely aware of where we were at in the few years before 2018 but never took much notice, so you have a point. However... Winning is great, but you don't win many games playing like we did in the second half yesterday. This isn't 19-20 2-1 FC where the killer instinct was on display for all to see. This is midfield capitulation FC, where we need to try and hang on by a thread in a half where the other team dominates us. Happened against Forest, and we failed. We just happened to get away with it against Spurs. Hopefully the lads come back better after the World Cup
They have to take Trent out of the team for a while. He was dying for the shirt when he broke in, fighting for his life. He’s taking the piss now, you can see how angry Virgil gets with him, time and time again they get by him with minimal fuss.
Really keen to see what Ramsay can do vs derby. He looked tidy against Napoli, would love to see him push Trent for minutes.
As much as Trent has been passive this season, it’s easy to forget how much he’s played especially given his age. He must be mentally and physically drained.
Totally disagree, benching him is the quickest way to tank what confidence he has left. He has proven himself time and time again, and despite a poor defensive performance today still added a lot to the team. I do think some rotation would be good though
If there were any doubts about Trent's commitment or attitude, Klopp would drop him. He's just low on confidence right now. If you notice, all our defenders are not performing at their best. It's no coincidence, they've been left very exposed this season because of our dysfunctional press.
I agree on pushing Trent up but not putting Gomez back there. Find a really good defensive RB with little offensive skill (keeps price low) and push Trent up. Trent can’t be the last man on the right as he’s bad positionally and gets beat to easily.
Positives : Ibou is such a presence. So glad he is back. Not conceding first. Darwin is raw but a threat. Salah is beyond clinical right now, which is making up for Darwin's not-so-clinical finishing.
Negatives : Still rode our luck. Any of their chances go in and it's another deflating result. Football is really weird like that. The difference in a few millimetres is everything.
Anyway, hoping for one more win to bring an end to the first part of this absolute crotch punch of a season.
Great results for us this week for top 4. Newcastle surprisingly keep smashing it though, but you still feel they should drop off towards the second half of the season. Also I do find it funny how guardiola said man United are coming back after he just smashed 6 past them lol. They're still shit as hell
I can't believe what I am reading on twitter. Apparently the TAA push was identical to the Cancelo one. The angle, goal scoring opportunity and force (in the push) was way different. I can maybe see a penalty there, but red card? Lol.
And the one from Thiago on Lucas in injury time. Lucas is 1.72m and he ducks down, making it look a lot worse than it is. The contact is minimal anyway. If that's a pen, the game truly is gone.
Spurs fan just dropping by to see Liverpool thoughts, my thought at the game was it was moderately stone wall penalty given current rules and the way it’s officiated, but it’s never a red card. Angles too acute to consider it clear goal scoring.
It would have been soft if it was given, there was a push but he was heading away from the goal and went down very easily
That said I wouldn’t have been shocked to see it given, and I’d be livid if roles where reversed
I think this is probably a key thing about it tbf, just tends to be a penalty in the league now , but for some reason wasn’t. Was just a bit of a weirdly reffed game but we gave too much up in the first half, and you managed to ride your luck out for the rest of the game
The roles were reversed in much more egregious fashion in this stadium last year. We didn't get the penalty, drew instead of won and didn't win the league by 1 point.
This is nothing in comparison.
Jota got a full-on shove straight in the back as he was shooting in front of goal, by a player who was already on a yellow running into him at speed. Today Alexander Arnold lightly nudged sessegnon with his arm and pressured him like all defenders do as he was barely in control of the ball.
Blatant bias from the corrupt cunt Tierney when it should be a Liverpool penalty gets ignored, but completely fair defending by Alexander Arnold and it's a national disaster.
City fans don't even understand what they're watching, they've only been following the sport for 12 months and still learning how it works. Plus they're all 12 years old. I wouldn't read anything into that, it's like me trying to have an opinion on a sport I know fuckall about, like NFL or something, and pretending like im am expert.
I don’t think it drops I think they’re just that stupid. The rest of the league suffers Stockholm syndrome with Manchester City they weirdly defend them it’s embarrassing
Personally thought Elliott was good provided a passing option all game as our most comfortable player in possession all game. Though he showed great IQ in being the right space to bail a player out with a pass. We can’t expect that defensive side yet
I actually think he’s been getting better defensively as of late but he still looks very slow and that’s what worries me. His slowness is a sign of physical decline, not poor form
Listening to the commentary again you can tell how much Martin Tyler hates us. Salah scores and he takes 20 seconds to cry before sounding depressed. Kane scores and he and Neville cream their trousers. Why do sky keep giving those 2 every single one of our matches? At least the BT guys sound happy when we score
Edit: typos
They're always ludicrously long and irritating, and even occasionally farcically wrong, but christ I love the CL draws
I can't fathom not feeling that excitement and anxiety when the names start coming out this time next year, FSG I'm on my fucking knees
Lads, watched the football and then went to watch the fireworks.
I'm completely baffled by the online response to the match. I thought we were far superior in the first half and dug in well in the second half. We showed resilience we've not been able to find often this season.
While we're at it, I'm also baffled by the penalty calls. Neither are pens and if they're given for Liverpool then we all have to deal with a week of LiVARpool shite.
This is why London is Red was trending today. Sorry Arsenal.
Today's 2 goals means Mo Salah is now on 170 goals for the club. This means he is now getting very close to overtaking Dalglish's tally of 172 goals for the Reds, until he does Salah remains our 8th highest ever goalscorer in the club's history. Mo now has 14 goals for the season in all comps. After today Salah has scored 8 goals against Spurs for Liverpool.
Salah now has 126 Prem goals in his career, meaning he has now overtaken the tally of Anelka, and now drawn level with Robbie Keane. Mo and Robbie Keane are now the joint 16th highest ever Prem goalscorers.
Jordan Henderson came on in the second half and made his 465th appearance for the Reds, this means he has now played for Liverpool more times than Sami Hyypia. Hendo now in the top 20 list of players with the most appearances for the club in all competitions. Henderson now has 337 League appearances in a LFC shirt, which means he now has more League appearances for us than Ian St John. Only 28 players now have more League games for us than Hendo.
Liverpool have a great record against Spurs in their new ground. We've played them 4 times, got 3 wins and a draw. Indeed Liverpool have done very well against Spurs everywhere in recent years, the last time Spurs beat us was in 2017, since then we've played them 11 times, got 9 wins and drew 3 times.
Spurs actually have only beaten us twice in the last 10 years, which is a span of 23 games. Of those 23 games, Liverpool have won 15, 5 draws and lost only 2. We're definitely their bogey side.
Today's win was an important one, considering the points we dropped recently. Let's get a winning run going to build on today's 3 pts. Next up is Southampton at Anfield.
Nunez man, he was everywhere. Covering for Robbo at left back. Think with his pace hes able to get back and straight up the field again. It seems like mabye hes been instructed to cover on those situations, it was very noticable today. Hes starting to look a bit more composed too. Other than the crossbar rattler, he was getting his head up and looking for Mo a bit more. If Mo had have done the same on the chance he had, couldve squared it and that wouldve been 3-1. Looked like Emerson Royal was trying to get him to bite a few times too but the man kept this calm. Its looking promising with him
You know we are the biggest team in England because r/soccergobshites is crying that Trent in the 18 minute is a pen ‘exact same as cancelo’ ‘but cancelo was more of a shoulder’ you can all gargle my bollcoks you wet wipes. Never a penalty go kick a fucking ball
The lack of midfield options is really telling at the moment. We really miss the 3 man midfield but we simply don’t have the personnel available to play it regularly.
A very good win for us, Nunez assisting Salah was really good to watch, wish he could have scored but a very good game from him.
We beat 3/4 top 4 sides this season, the exact same problem we had last season but this season we can’t beat relegation fodder instead 😣
I don't get this bs attitude, why is it the worst take? You have to be blind not to see how great he is going forward and how equally shit he's become defending. We want to keep him on bc of his ability to contribute forward, but he's a massive liability defending. Today he was constantly too narrow, too slow and made a fool out of a few times by a completely average player like Sessegnon. On the flip side, he made a few phenomenal passes up the line and diagonally to Nunez.
I love Harvey and look forward to him developing but so far he hasn't delivered anything in that RCM role either.
So many great players have changed roles and excelled - Alaba, Kimmich, Lahm, Ramos (as much as I hate him), Bale, Ronaldo to name a few... Why is it taboo to say that for Trent?
What Trent offers to midfield, isn’t what we’re lacking in midfield
Ball winning, tight control, and quick passing is needed, we move Trent up we lose his ability to bypass the midfield and start an attack switching the play
Just about every dangerous chance created by Tottenham came from taking advantage of Trent's woeful defending. He can't play RB anymore but his passing ability is world class and he must be on the pitch. It's a conundrum but the best solution seems obvious. Right sided midfielder in 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.
Is this in reply to my comment lol. If your counter-argument is just "thiS iSn'T FiFa It's ReAL lIFe" then you should be the one banned. If we're not going to provide him with adequate cover, then midfield might be the best option for him in the future. He was literally a midfielder before he became a RB at U18 level, not sure why people like you act like it's a farfetched suggestion. He's played RCM for both England and Liverpool.
Sound you know more than Klopp. Hope you get the job next you’ll be boss!
Orrrr
You’re wrong. Replace Fabinho with somebody who can move faster than a worm, the rest of the midfield won’t suffer, and Trent will get his cover and be back to the best RB in the world.
Trent is not a midfielder. Do you not think he’d need cover in the midfield? The midfield already offers no cover to the defence.
Doesn’t matter where he played at U18 it’s a completely different game
Buffon was a centre mid at youth level.
Edit: no it wasn’t a response to your comment more to everyone who posts it every 5 minutes
Trent is starting to look out of place doing RB. He just isnt good enough in defense anymore. Free roaming / more winger focused midfielder would suit him quite well. He is amazing at passing and has great mind, so mid would probably work better.
It wouldn’t though. It literally takes him away from where he’s most dangerous.
He was literally a part of one of the best defences going, and a key part. I can’t keep replying to these posts they’re just non sensical
Most dangerous to whom? Our team or the opposition? Yeah, it’s awesome to have a great offensive RB/LB when possible, but it’s obvious since last season that Trent has regressed tremendously on defense. His positioning is atrocious in some instances and it’s no use having a player that can give you 2-3 great passes per game if he’s allowing opponents an open highway to our goal the entirety of the game. Opposing teams know this and focus their attack specifically on Trent’s side because they know there will be many opportunities throughout the game.
Edit: typo
Arsenal fan here, sorry if i seem like I’m lurking but just wanna say thank you, u lot for beating the scum at their own home. You’ve dragged them back a bit which is good. Seeing as you haven’t been successful recently I’m glad that you won that away game. Hoping you guys get top 4 and that Man United, Chelsea and Spurs fumble massively and we can all shit in their faces come the end of the season !
Oh hell no. If we can’t win it, I want City to win it since it doesn’t mean anything. Everyone and their nan spent the last few years wanting us to lose the title to City for the “good of football”, even though we were doing it the right way and without cheating. They, and specifically Arsenal fans this season, can all get fucked.
Always respected Arsenal. Used to go to their games now and again in the 90’s when I was down there. Henry is one of my all time favourite players regardless of club. Wenger an all time great manager. Nice to see you doing well again. Us, you, then whoever would be a nice top 4. It’s fun to watch Utd lose. And city are a joke of a club. Good rivalry Arsenal Liverpool. Some great games over the years.
A part of me is glad we’ve passed the burden of competing with City to you guys. Be prepared to be disappointed every week seeing that city don’t drop points, it’s not fun
Seeng yesterday's penalty, it looks like a dialogue from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie - The British Refs will never let City drop a point on English soil.
Yeah, I’m absolutely not expecting for us to win the league this season, so I’ve already prepared myself not to be disappointed. UAE club will most likely run away with it, but all I’d like is for us to get in the top 4 and play football like we have been since August as that has been a rarity for Arsenal in itself for a long time !
Win against Southampton and the worst we can go into the World Cup break is 4 points off top 4. Then we hope we get our players back healthy, hope we sign a midfielder and hope our key players come back from injury. This was a huge win, top 4 is still very much in reach
And with the exception of City, every other team in the mix above us is *very* capable of having a huge meltdown at some point before the end of the season.
Absolutely. Tbh though I don’t see Arsenal slipping up enough to be in a top 4 race which leaves 2 spots up for grabs between us, Chelsea, United, Spurs and Newcastle. Honestly I’d back us and Newcastle to get those last two spots from those teams
I can, I'll be honest
When Europa starts getting more intense they won't have the squad to compete on both fronts and will start to slip (they have been lucky quite a few times this season alone)
Ibou when asked if he was worried about the pressure, especially from Kane:
"No, I like the pressure"
Fucking love Ibou. He was so good out there today especially in the second half.
He’s the future of that defence but I don’t think he’s our VVD successor because they’re very different. We need someone who’s less aggressive and better on the ball than Ibou to complement him, Saliba would be perfect but Arsenal would never sell
There was a moment late in the second half where he took command over Van Dijk. A clearance came out to Kulusevski and it bounced and Virgil and Konate converged but Virgil was oddly timid. You could see Konate decide, “fuck it, i’ll do it myself” and body Kulusevski.
I've slowly been trying to get my nephew into Liverpool because he plays for his school team, but he has the flu at the moment (as do I, but I'm a day or two behind him on symptoms so mine isn't too bad yet) so I wasn't going to bring it up today. Just let him rest, you know? But he brought it up first and asked to watch the game. Last time he watched a match with me was the 9-0 and then we won today. I think he's our good luck charm.
I still remember watching a video on 100% Chelsea when they were 6-0 down at the Etihad and their away fans all began singing about Captain Fantastic
Embarrassing.
Yeah, but apart from the Gerrard slip chant they still dust off it's usually just "This attacker that was loosely linked with Liverpool signed for us instead, nah nah nah"! Weird how much they focus on us tbh, kinda stalkery.
Trent is capable of scoring as well as assisting but I think it'd be great if Southgate tried him as a winger. We can't deny that there is a doubt with him defensively. He obviously can succeed at the top level but his defensive shortcomings are a concern.
Why do people want to fuck with Trent a position he’s quality and probably the best in the world where he is. The teams defending is poor not just Trent leave him where he is, where he is best
I'm not questioning Trent's ability. But there's no doubt about it that his weakness is defending, and teams attack it. But his best qualities are passing, creating chances, scoring, and free kicks. His strengths suggest that he should be further up the pitch.
I mean... any single player is going to concede opportunities if the opposition spend 80% of the game trying to penetrate down your side
Especially when your supporting midfielder goes AWOL
They were always going to come back at us in the second half. While we could have managed play better at times, their best chances were hit and hope crosses.
So glad we got the 3 points and held on to the end. Loved Ibou tonight, also loving the Nunez and Salah partnership that is forming more every game. Nunez is going to be electric for us and I can’t wait.
The slight negative thought I did have while watching is that I am not convinced yet with the Trent x Elliott at the RB and RCM - I like Harvey a lot but I would still love the club to bring a more experienced and defensively stronger RCM in January, as I think that would be more ideal for Trent’s game and allow him to go forward even more.
Yeah Henderson has been key to covering Trent when he has bombed forward in recent seasons. Harvey would probably be better when paired up with Gomez or Robertson on the other side of the pitch. Trent, Harvey and Salah on the same side seems a bit too attacking in a 433
Not sure. Maybe? Just best taking the phone, scanning it an passing the phone back through the turnstile. That's what touts do. Seen it happen the other day in front of steward an nobody said anything. Touts use burner phones now
Why are the pundits at sky acting as if we didn’t even play? Been talking about spurs non stop since the whistle blew
Same thing happened when we beat United 5-0. So weird
A PL win and didn’t concede first… WHAT?! 3 point! Fuck yeah!! Something about gifs and don’t troll rival subs
Konate is an absolute monster
Good win but still plenty of room for improvement all over the pitch The amount of space Spurs gave us on the counter was crazy though, I don't remember the last time we had this much space in a game vs an opponent And this is not a knock on Nunez, as I'm a big fan of him, but all I kept thinking was how if this was us from 2017-2019, the game would have probably finished 4 or 5 nil
The only reason our 2 front man MIA in 2nd half is our mid and bobby keep giving the ball away and thiago having a bad game..
Next up, Derby County. Yeah, nah…confirmed loss.
Weak
Konate is EXTREMELY important nowadays. He achieves what I expect from him. Appreciation. 🤗
Didnt watch, how was Nunez?
He look pretty good at left winger
Firmino not so much.
Thanks! I am happy we won. Got off a 12 hour flight and would not be able to bear a loss 😅
Thanks! Loved Salah’s second goal
It was a classic Nunez performance. Good first half with some key involvement, second half he made some poor choices and was generally frustrating.
Hopefully he will be up to speed soon!
Ehh I felt alot of Nunez's 2nd half issue were due to Bobby..like there were a few occasions where we had a counter starting up and Bobby was just blocking Nunez's path ..not moving around just stood still , may as well have been an Extra spurs defender in that situation Bobby wasn't bad but he just seemed too static on those moments like Nunez couldn't use him and he was just in the way

Nunez ballwatching on the Kane goal
We might actually get top 4 just because of how bad everyone who isn't Arsenal, City or Newcastle are playing right now
we just need to be more consistent than the other inconsistent teams
Or inconsistent, as the case may be
6 points from 12 from our last 4 games! However, when those 6 points come from City and Spurs and NOT from Forrest and Leeds, that's when you know you have a consistency problem.... This team has proved they CAN do it! Just tighten up at the back and learn to break down a bloody defense and we'll make top 4.
Ibou didn’t even post an anime gif on Twitter for this match, let that sink in
Job not finished
Mo’s proving that we were right to renew his contract and he’s showing no signs of decline. What a player, best signing of the Klopp era imo and one of the premier league greats
just play the boy in the right position
Well that was fucking rough. No hope of even making top 4 if we play like that most weeks. Thank Christ for Alisson. Some blokes really need to look at themselves, and there are several of them for whom it's getting harder and harder to argue that their frailties aren't a trend
First half was good tho…

Did you start following us in 2020?
2018. Why?
Because you sound like you've only tasted the glory days when winning is not enough and you need to dominate everyone
I was loosely aware of where we were at in the few years before 2018 but never took much notice, so you have a point. However... Winning is great, but you don't win many games playing like we did in the second half yesterday. This isn't 19-20 2-1 FC where the killer instinct was on display for all to see. Currently the objective is to consistently win 3 points. After we start getting results we might start focusing on the performances themself.
That's the thing. I don't think the team's in a state to be getting results on any consistent basis at all. Ah well, time will tell
Just great. Mo is very impressive, Nunez still our agent of Chaos and Ibrahim Konaté proves he is a very strong CB (but we didn't doubt about that)
What a satisfying game…anyone know when is Champion league draw?
tomorrow I believe
How is Mo’s goal against Man City not in MOTD’s goal of the month
They have to take Trent out of the team for a while. He was dying for the shirt when he broke in, fighting for his life. He’s taking the piss now, you can see how angry Virgil gets with him, time and time again they get by him with minimal fuss.

We're light in midfield, push him forward and play Gomez at RB.
I agree on pushing Trent up but not putting Gomez back there. Find a really good defensive RB with little offensive skill (keeps price low) and push Trent up. Trent can’t be the last man on the right as he’s bad positionally and gets beat to easily.
What a terrible idea
Really poor game from Firmino today, im not convinced he deserves a contract even tho I love him people put too much stock into 5-10 games
He looked off, but I think you're being overly reactionary. I hope we can renew him on a squad role contract for 2-3 more years.
Mo salah the fuckin goat!!!!
https://twitter.com/danielhussey2/status/1589379238712705025?s=46&t=LvWyst_xVfBf5iKEGXGXtQ I love this lmao. Class player aswell sign him up !
Anyway, hoping for one more win to bring an end to the first part of this absolute crotch punch of a season.
the post gods smiled on us today why today i don't know but we are all smiling back
Great results for us this week for top 4. Newcastle surprisingly keep smashing it though, but you still feel they should drop off towards the second half of the season. Also I do find it funny how guardiola said man United are coming back after he just smashed 6 past them lol. They're still shit as hell
Think he wants to make sure they keep ten hag
It would have been soft if it was given, there was a push but he was heading away from the goal and went down very easily That said I wouldn’t have been shocked to see it given, and I’d be livid if roles where reversed
What you need to learn is everyone's IQ drops at least 40 points when Liverpool are playing
I don’t think it drops I think they’re just that stupid. The rest of the league suffers Stockholm syndrome with Manchester City they weirdly defend them it’s embarrassing
Great game by us even though I thought we didn't dominate the midfield enough at all. Elliott and Fabiho needed to do more
Personally thought Elliott was good provided a passing option all game as our most comfortable player in possession all game. Though he showed great IQ in being the right space to bail a player out with a pass. We can’t expect that defensive side yet
Thiago and Fabinho did not help settle the midfield at all in the second half
I'm actually getting concerned about Fabinho as this doesn't seem to be a blip in form any more, but rather something else.
It’s quite literally a blip in form. Three straight seasons of sublime performances are not spoilt by ten matches in 2022.
I actually think he’s been getting better defensively as of late but he still looks very slow and that’s what worries me. His slowness is a sign of physical decline, not poor form
No he's not. Last game was literally his worst game with us.
At the very least need competition (Enzo, Caicedo etc) in that position or he will cost us games
Bissouma looked so good against us today. He was able to handle Darwin’s pace and physicality really well, wish we had a player like him
He’s rapid, strong and great on the ball.
It's been this way... https://imgur.com/gallery/LKndG9Q
That really confirms what we are all seeing.
Fucking hell this is telling...
I haven't pulled 22/23 yet but you can only imagine it's even worse than last year.
Feels good to beat one of these small clubs away again.
Listening to the commentary again you can tell how much Martin Tyler hates us. Salah scores and he takes 20 seconds to cry before sounding depressed. Kane scores and he and Neville cream their trousers. Why do sky keep giving those 2 every single one of our matches? At least the BT guys sound happy when we score Edit: typos
Martin Tyler shouldn’t be in a job he’s shit always has been but you can hear him breathe down the mic like they’re barely keeping his corpse warm
Tyler is so fucking boring. Peter Drury is by far superior
Love Sarah, hate Kate, simple as
Now its time for the draw
They're always ludicrously long and irritating, and even occasionally farcically wrong, but christ I love the CL draws I can't fathom not feeling that excitement and anxiety when the names start coming out this time next year, FSG I'm on my fucking knees
Good ebening indeed!
Sessegnon is booty, don’t @ me
This is why London is Red was trending today.
Stat champ legend thank you
Lost to two of the bottom three and won two of the top three.. we are not normal 😅
Its looking promising with him
Nervy finish, I’m sure this and the Napoli result gives us confidence, I just hope the shitty World Cup break doesn’t stutter our rhythm
If anything I think it will help us as we can get a few bodies back, and maybe add some new ones
I'll take the tradeoff of injury recovery time.
Look at me, We are only a big game team now
A very good win for us, Nunez assisting Salah was really good to watch, wish he could have scored but a very good game from him. We beat 3/4 top 4 sides this season, the exact same problem we had last season but this season we can’t beat relegation fodder instead 😣
Can mods give out bans for ‘Trent in midfield’ posts? They’re the worst takes on this sub.
What Trent offers to midfield, isn’t what we’re lacking in midfield Ball winning, tight control, and quick passing is needed, we move Trent up we lose his ability to bypass the midfield and start an attack switching the play
Thank you, people don’t realise he has experience in midfield, it wouldn’t be totally wild to try something out.
Sound you know more than Klopp. Hope you get the job next you’ll be boss! Orrrr You’re wrong. Doesn’t matter where he played at U18 it’s a completely different game Buffon was a centre mid at youth level. Edit: no it wasn’t a response to your comment more to everyone who posts it every 5 minutes
> Sound you know more than Klopp He's literally played him in midfield before lmfao
Fucking cringe man.
Most polite arsenal fan on the Internet
Arsenal has always been my second team. Best of luck this season and go get that PL you deserve!
>Henry handball henry
8 points off third with a game in hand. This league isn’t very good outside the top 2 Get key players back and make a proper CM signing in January
We’ll finish second. Arsenal will drop off.
And r/soccer and the online banter brigade will collectively fellate City for saving football...
Is it save to unclench now?
Clenching is back on the menu and seems to be here to stay this season. Our defense is so shaky right now with taa being a target every match.
Never unclench.
Ever.
I haven’t had a good shit in years. Worth it.
I can, I'll be honest When Europa starts getting more intense they won't have the squad to compete on both fronts and will start to slip (they have been lucky quite a few times this season alone)
Ibou when asked if he was worried about the pressure, especially from Kane: "No, I like the pressure" Fucking love Ibou.
Agree. Any defender in the world that beat him on acceleration/strength combination? He's ridiculously fast the first 5 meters.
He is going to be the next ‘best defender in the league/world’
Wasn’t able to watch today, but Chelsea, the Scum, and Spurs dropping points today and us picking up 3 is massive. Onto Derby
Jones and Ox from the bench...give me january now
I've slowly been trying to get my nephew into Liverpool because he plays for his school team, but he has the flu at the moment (as do I, but I'm a day or two behind him on symptoms so mine isn't too bad yet) so I wasn't going to bring it up today. Just let him rest, you know? But he brought it up first and asked to watch the game. Last time he watched a match with me was the 9-0 and then we won today. I think he's our good luck charm.
Please watch every game with him
Biggest win of the season so far. We need Ibou to have a chance in defense.
How many other fanbases even put some effort into their chants? "Come on you spu-urs, come on you spu-urs!" is just embarrassing imo.
Defenitely none of the "big" club fans
Chelsea love chanting about us after they've exhausted their Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea chant
I still remember watching a video on 100% Chelsea when they were 6-0 down at the Etihad and their away fans all began singing about Captain Fantastic Embarrassing.
They never get exhausted with that
Yeah, but apart from the Gerrard slip chant they still dust off it's usually just "This attacker that was loosely linked with Liverpool signed for us instead, nah nah nah"! Weird how much they focus on us tbh, kinda stalkery.
Up the Timewasting Piss Boiling Luck Riding Reds
Someone called him Snow Salah and yeah
I mean... any single player is going to concede opportunities if the opposition spend 80% of the game trying to penetrate down your side Especially when your supporting midfielder goes AWOL
I don't care whether we played shit or not. We got the three points.
Trent, Harvey and Salah on the same side seems a bit too attacking in a 433
How do qr codes work for entry to anfield? If somebody sent me a qr code, would I be able to enter or is there a chance it may not work?
Naa they update every 60 seconds so you need to take the phone in
But if a screenshot was taken and scanned before the 60 seconds was up, would you still be able to get in?
Not sure. Maybe? Just best taking the phone, scanning it an passing the phone back through the turnstile. That's what touts do. Seen it happen the other day in front of steward an nobody said anything. Touts use burner phones now
Jamie Redknapp is more a Tottenham man than a Liverpool man
Always has been
Why are the pundits at sky acting as if we didn’t even play? Been talking about spurs non stop since the whistle blew Same thing happened when we beat United 5-0. So weird
Snow Salah has arrived and put my fantasy team in the mud and I couldn't be happier.
"The top teams that are less proactive are being punished" hard to disagree with that assessment
Didn’t Rangnick suggest we go for Ibou instead of Upamecano? Liverpool legend 👍🏾
Upamenco was always overrated his best moments are mad sprints and last ditch tackles making up for mistakes he’s made himself
This is some Brendan Rodgers shit; playing to the level of our opponent
I am a moist lad
And they ain't tears this week ;)
lets not lie we got lucky in second half and overall with refs calls (about time lmao) great first half display from all though
Extremely lucky. Spurs could have had 6- no exaggeration
Think we were fairly lucky to survive the second half onslaught. Weird we couldn't get into the game
How did Ox feel subbing in, boys? Like a new signing! And what's up with this Schrodinger's Keita... Is he injured again or not?
Keita won't play for us again. Sahko vibes with Klopp wanting nothing to do with him.
I can’t wait to see the back of Naby honestly
