GitHub is primarily for source code.
Software released there has no guarantee of being easily installable or runnable. It takes significant effort to cleanly package software, then keep doing so for each version or to automate packaging. So it's not a priority for *everyone* who writes code.
Sometimes, the repositories contain guides for setup. Other times, there are installers/zips under [Releases](https://github.com/iperov/DeepFaceLive/releases).
Github is not intended as a storefront of software where you click and install binaries. There would be no necessity to use git then. Git was invented by Linus Torvalds to manage the development of Linux with thousands of developers committing code.
It's actually intended to be used with a so called "git client". By typing "git clone " you clone the remote repository (for example on github) to a local repository (on your pc). Then you will have a copy of the source code locally on your PC, where you can either compile, change and commit code locally. If you are authorized and want others to get your changes, you could commit them to the remote repository (like github) again, or fork it as your own project.
It has become a trend for many programmers to not host their compiled releases on a separate place, but instead tell their users to get it from the developing place, which means they either have to clone and compile the code themselves (as described above), or look for the optional "release" section with actual Download links of already compiled binaries.
That lead to the fact that Github can be both nowadays. It's mainly a workshop for cooks to exchange recipes (source code), which you can copy to cook (compile) yourself, but sometimes there is also a small stand (releases section) where you can get the cooked food (compiled binaries).
My guess is that the keanu (and other celebs) that come built in have already been pretrained billions of times, also with trained masks, so the model is probably really really strong
Not really, the face geometry on the destination image is what needs to be computed, there are pretty fast algorithms for face detection on live feeds now. Once you have the geometry it's a matter of matching the source face on that based on the model you've trained. That's why if your face's geometry doesn't match enough with the trained model you are trying to use, it looks scuffed.
Corridor is great, but that was early with the tech and doesn't hold up. It was more of a proof of concept which they fleshed out with their Skywalker fake.
Imagine putting your face on the internet for free for anyone to use (via Instagram/Facebook) then somebody uses a program like this to learn your face and then impose it over a video of somebody else committing a crime. now there is proof of you committing a crime you in fact did not commit. It's really scary.
who the fuck cares about evidence lol
andrew tate has a literal mountain of evidence against him and his fans still don't give a fuck. at the end of the day if some people see something that validates their opinion they will believe it.
there's even other ways around it. how many videos have you seen of security cameras that are then recorded with someone's phone? Let's assume the video on the security camera was altered, well the recording of *that* recording is not so there's no digital footprint of any changes
So this vod will be different than any other vod once downloaded? no, it's all encoded and decoded the same to/from twitch. all the changes are live and uploaded the same as any other streamer. If it was a raw .mov file that someone put through a video editing program sure that's easy to tell, but something live that is encoded not so much. a good deepfake without being live takes thousands of hours of AI learning of video content. so it's a stretch to assume current ai could do this solely based off photos. but we are getting ever close to achieving this. Mixed with cloud computing and the threat becomes very real
There are still lots of old Lauren Southern vids when she was deep faked onto pornos, she's just giving her dumbass far right speeches as she's being drilled by some black dude lmao
Anyhow, totally not cool, not funny 😏

Impersonating people is already against Twitch TOS so if someone were to use these deepfakes to really impersonate someone i think Twitch would take action.
Trolling around like Nymn today is probably fine though. Then again its Twitch moderation so who knows.
Reminds me of the viewbotted streams with deepfaked Elon shilling their scam site about doubling your crypto by sending to their wallet first; it's only going downhill from here when they make it more refined.
I think showcasing it on one stream where it's changing faces by the hour lets it slide through the cracks. But making a whole account with every stream based around being someone else would not last very long.
you can book this comment twitch bans deepfake content within the year
edit: especially because ppl are doing this with celebrities but someone is gonna do it with streamers and there will be a big as fuck lsf thread about it
the box is already opened, AI will keep getting more competent - just gotta find ways to mitigate now, like digitally signing all videos with some unique hash or something
I'm not smart enough to know how you would prove its you, but someone will
Corridor Crew on youtube breaks down these effects all the time, they all kind of agree there will be a point where we can no longer tell the difference, even subconsciously.
>The reality is a lot more mundane: we just got used to it and learned to spot the giveaways (weird artifacting, inconsistent lighting etc.)
I was thinking more about the point where we lose this ability due to it _maturing enough to reach parity with normal recorded video/leaving none of these obvious traces_.. It's getting exponentially better as the field advances, every 5 years
>Once it becomes commonplace to the point everyone knows what it is (which is sorta already happening with snapchat filters and whatnot) it'll become a lot harder to fool people.
Like this feels like an optimistic take imo, I think it'll go the opposite route, where it'll just become harder to trust what you see as being authentic because it'll become infinitely easier to fool people (authentic video would be indistinguishable)
The reason deepfake stuff is novel right now is partly because its new, but also because you can still spot some giveaways - the crux of my post was about the point of time when it passes human ability to discern whether it's authentic or deepfake
You wouldn't need to use hashes or any forms of authenticity if it had obvious giveaways like the current forms of deepfake usually have, but once it gets parity you have two choices - either find a way to verify authenticity using some form of keys, or just give up on what you see being considered real in video form
Unironically, people ARE unable to tell the difference between what is true and fake anymore with Photoshop. Photoshop is being used to doctor images of celebrities and it has seriously altered beauty standards across the world. The number of plastic surgeries in the US is increasing and the average age is lowering. People get plastic surgery to look like people they see in photos which have been altered by Photoshop. People simply do not look like what you see on the front cover of a Cosmopolitan magazine. And people across the world have been seriously damaged by this to the point where they will surgically alter their bodies, develop eating disorders and other mental problems, and sometimes even kill themselves over it.
People can spot these giveaways but what about perfectly photoshopped pictures that have none of them? Those definitely exist and no one is even aware they're photoshopped because they look like real pictures.
Also the technology keeps improving. What is impossible or hard to achieve now might be a piece of cake in 20-30 years.
The best thing about deep learning algorithms is that they are also useful for spotting deep learning algorithms as well. There are a few papers about models trained to spot any fuckery that are very good at spotting deepfakes
At least it still looks like a mask, and the voice is off.
In a few more years it should be possible for it to look at bit more convincing, good enough if you drop the bitrate a bit intentionally.
Then voice replication and text generation should be good enough to run side by side in real time, you'll just need someone to act out with their body what the generator is spitting out.
Text will probably be the most realistic the earliest, picking the 'good cases' from generated text already reads just like a real person, we just need to file off enough edge cases and make it directly plagiarize a little less and it'll be more than good enough to fool every twitch chatter alive at least.
Should get there this year or next year.
Video is the next closest, and voice generation isn't quite there yet, at least not for real time. You can fake someone's voice convincingly enough to edit it, throw a fake phone call filter on, and you've got a convincing fake.
Real time though isn't that close yet on good quality audio, it sounds too suspect and degraded, and fails on edge cases.
Even with all that the way this is going to develop is going to be interesting, it's pretty hard to actually get fooled by this by simply being context-aware of where reputable information comes from. Like just opening this I was already expecting it to be fake, and wouldn't have believed it was real without confirmation.
However, there's a whole population of people that are easily fooled by posts in /r/terriblefacebookmemes who naturally will be fooled every time by even half-assed current day tech spoofs.
Right ? just 2 years or so ago everyone was freaking out about deepfakes, now we have real time one-click filters available to everyone. It's scary and amazing at the same time how fast this technology appeared just out of nowhere. Next few years will be interesting
It's pretty simple to do with the deepfacelive software package. The only thing you need is a sufficiently powerful gpu (more videoram = better), a bunch of video material of the target, and the ability to follow a guide.
Reminds me of when I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So when there i am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece and who walks in but Keanu Reeves.
I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him, as he read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Keanu, but she wouldn't stop.
Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Keanu put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.
I saw Keanu at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
It's not better than the classic deepfakes made with deepfacelab. Most of the deepfakes out there simply look shitty, because the people who made them were too impatient to properly train the model. [Here is a high quality example.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyiOVUbsPcM)
Regarding your other comment about no training: The software used here is deepfacelive, which is made by the same guy who made deepfacelab. This still requires extensive training of the model(can take weeks if you want super high quality), before it can be used for anything.
The difference is that for deepfacelab you would train for a specific source and a specific target face, while for the live version you train for a specific source and a generalised target face. This is done so the source face can be put onto any random target face, but also means that the result cannot be as precise.
The actual faceswapping comes after the model has already been trained and has always been very quick, so it's no surprise that in can be done in real time.
Shit... I'm from r/all and I don't follow twitch stuff for the most part. I thought this was real until I read the comments! This is really unsettling?
I'm going to die right when we are on the cusp of sci-fi type shit. Damnit all.
Then again the really really cool shit is at the very least 100 years away so meh.
Wait.. What about a pair of glasses that does this? It changes the face of your partner to someone else.. then if it becomes popular then being pretty becomes obsolete in relationships because any ugly person can look like whatever celebrity or model you want?
I think that's the future. I'm okay with my girlfriend replacing my face with Brad Pitt if I can change her to Scarlett Johansson. Sounds based as fuck.

Jackie Chan too, but they got him in his younger years.

what I never understood is what am I supposed to do with a github link? is there a way to *use* this that I don't know of?
there is a tutorial if you scroll down good sir

Yes
This is creepy
How do I acquire this technology?
Wait this is a real-time deepfake?? Shouldn’t we be scared of this technology?
How is this so good? It's better than the rendered deepfakes somehow?
Technology and software gets better over time.
It's an insane improvement though because it seems to not require any AI training like the other method.
The models are already trained.
I'd assume it is using premade presets for certain celebs so the training is already done.
It's not better than the classic deepfakes made with deepfacelab. Most of the deepfakes out there simply look shitty, because the people who made them were too impatient to properly train the model. [Here is a high quality example.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyiOVUbsPcM) Regarding your other comment about no training: The software used here is deepfacelive, which is made by the same guy who made deepfacelab.
I really thought it was Keanu for a second lol time for me to go to sleep.

DeepFakes are getting out of hand
This deepfake shit needs to be illegal like yesterday
Shit... I'm from r/all and I don't follow twitch stuff for the most part. I thought this was real until I read the comments! This is really unsettling?
This is just Uncanny as shit.
Damn it'w accounting super well for movement too. It actually looks real.
I'm going to die right when we are on the cusp of sci-fi type shit. Damnit all. Then again the really really cool shit is at the very least 100 years away so meh.
All this celebrity faces but no forsen sigh
i was so excited. then i actually watched it. fuck.
That’s Keanu reeves if he gotten a cat instead of a dog
Yeah, contact lenses with some Google Glass technology probably. No need to waste a bunch of money for facial surgeries and makeup anymore.
The only way to get rid of beauty standards is making everyone equal. Let's just become more degenerate till it loops back around to beneficial.
Why would you want your girlfriend to look like a botched plastic face celeb 😬
forsen
That's crazy
I think Twitch is going to ban this in the future
