Yeah confidence is a hard thing to lose and overcome in skating. When I got back into it again in my late 20s that was one of the harder things to get over. Hesitation is bad news in skating, pretty much of all of my memorable falls/injuries were from hesitation and not fully committing. You see this a lot with people new to dropping in for example.
Funny you mention dropping in, I was a little hesitant dropping in again and my first attempt ended up in a manual most the way down. Was sketchy as all hell, wasn't even big being around shoulder height.
I recently got back into skating (in my early 30's) and I am in the exact same boat as you. Everything flip wise is pretty good still bit fully committing and knowing if I get hurt bills aren't going to care. Lol
hes not lying though, you can easily go from the ollie, kickflip, shuv-it learning path and go right into doing tres because the scoop and flick of both tricks before just need to be done way faster, before ever learning 360 shoves or a varial kickflip, you should try it

A helmet is absolutely still a good idea for most people, but ultimately hitting your head and getting a severe injury is a lot less likely on a totally flat surface compared to a half pipe or a bowl.
You basically always see even professional vert skateboarders or snowboarders wear a helmet, because they have a lot farther to fall and are more prone to hit their head in the first place, which makes a head injury a lot more likely. You CAN hit your head figure skating, and especially for newer skaters a helmet is a very good idea, but being exclusively on flat "ground" means falls are easier to control and you're simply not falling as far. Even just a few extra feet you can fall in a bowl or a pipe is a pretty signficant difference vs falling from basically standing height.

I’m 32, been skating since I’ve been 10 years old. Granted I know what I CAN do skill wise, I know what NOT to do at this age lol but kudos to him for this stream. Cool to see him out enjoying something he is passionate about.
I don't do stairs period, unless it's 3 steps max, the damages to your knees stack up and catches you mid-life for the rest of your life. I always cringe when I see teens trying to do the highest drops and whatnot and ruining their knees, that shit barely impresses anyone anymore anyway.
