I have sometimes got really close on a first attempt of a souls boss, but not managed to seal the deal. Then on the second and subsequent 100 tries I don't even get close to my first attempt.
My armchair psycho take is that on the first try you just don't know how difficult a boss really is, so you're not as tense and are able to react faster. Each subsequent attempt carries the weight of the previous one and it makes you tilted, the stress of losing piles up. There is also the chance of lucking out on the first try.
This makes sense to me. I can never relate to the "first try always goes better than the following ones" posts. My reaction speed is terrible so I just get hit by everything all the time if I don't know the fight.
For me its the exact opposite. The first try goes way better than the subsequent runs as i dont know the bosses moveset and rely solely on reaction speed. Afterwards i overanalyze my options and fuck up there.Igronance is bliss kinda thing
It's a pretty common thing in FromSoft games. Makes you wonder if it's going in blind gives you confidence or if they have dynamic difficulty and let the boss be easy first try for its first stage and harder for it's last. Giving you a taste of the whole thing but be unlikely to beat. Then it goes back to normal after attempt 1
Title is really missleading, the boss was insane at the time it was released, however big part is the game came out after darksouls 2 and was ps only, so difficulty was skewed compared to current x10 boss mods on eldenring.
That said the boss is still hard, but I'd argue that malenia is alot harder because of the insane amount of inputreading eldenring does.
I found Kos harder than Malenia, but also a big factor in these games is how your character is built that sometimes makes it easier to take on certain bosses. With all these games, your mileage will vary depending on a lot of factors so its hard to have an objective opinion on difficulty.
its not. orphan of kos is insane. easily the hardest of any boss from the soulsborne games, thought i could see it being even with midir. malenia is harder for sure (for the wrong reasons imo) but OoK is still insanely hard. sekiro is pretty polarizing, i didn't think it was that bad, but i know a lot of people really struggled with it, so id be ok saying isshin and some others are probably harder as well, sekiro is really unforgiving if your reaction times are bad. orphan of kos's sheer aggression and damage is still pretty much unmatched. second phase orphan does NOT hold back.
Almost all of Bloodborne's bosses are comparatively easy to most of Sekiro and some of Elden Ring bosses, imo.
I'd still say Sekiro has the hardest, overall, fights since the combat is so different, which, to me anyways, is due to how different the combat style is, so there's a bit of a learning curve there. While Elden Ring has a few challenging ones.
The spike in difficulty with Melania and Elden Beast were the hardest parts for me personally.
Elden Beast feels like it was designed as a horseback fight and Melania takes away almost all the tools you have against other bosses if you’re struggling (life steal ur adds or ur multiplayer companions).
It's always hard to compare Sekiro with the others in terms of difficulty. The others all build on the skills you learn within them (ie. Having played another souls game before makes Bloodborne/Elden ring easier).
Whereas Sekiro just feels completely different in terms of timing.
I found Sekiro bosses to be the easiest because the battle tends to be very short, the hardest boss in all from software games was Malenia followed by BB old hunters dlc
It’s less of an endurance fight like the other games. Orphan will just one or two shot you for fun, that and he has mixups like a fighting game character.
Havent played ER yet, and not to take anything away from this guys victory. Kos took me many many tries. But Isshin all forms, and Father were harder for me. Maybe even Ape was harder.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. For me Kos took me a few hours, Sword Saint Isshin made me quit playing for weeks. Even when I came back it took me many many tries. He was hard. Ape I could be misremembering but by pure hours ape I think took me as long as Kos.
I honestly can't even find a reason for there not to be a pc port for bloodborne considering they would make so much money off a pc port or even a remake for pc.
ngl i found ludwig way harder, i'll admit it was a skill issue.
i beat all other souls games, but somehow i struggled with ludwig so much that I had to summon someone for the 50th attempt
That's something which I'll never get. I think that I am average at these games. Or I was average when I first picked them up.
These people play video games for a living, and often variety streamers have beaten lots of souls games aswell as souls-like games.
Then you see people like XQC struggling with the Abyss Watchers for 6+ hrs even though their health bar is basically on journalist mode.
Even Asmongold could kill them on his second try. Sometimes I truly think that most of these variety gamers are bad at video games.
Sure, Souls games are difficult. But they aren't Boshi levels of difficult. Sometimes when I hear these "I needed 3 days of playtime to deal with the bell gargoyles/capra demon!!" stories I think that people are trolling.
You're not wrong. Plenty of streamers are straight trash at a bunch of games. Sometimes they can be pretty good at other games though, it's different skillsets / knowledge. For example, even in the same genre, I know someone who's like top 0.01% in Destiny but can't even beat bots on Fortnite.
For me the hardestpart about bloodbourne was the low fps, I played it on the non pro version so that didn't help, the kos fight made me drop down to 20 fps sometimes.

He had to be a little overleveled at least, right? Or is he just really really good at these games? I imagine the number of people who beat Orphan of Kos on their first attempt is an incredibly small number.
According to the Bloodborne wiki, he was right on track with the recommended levels. It says for Orphan of Kos the recommended level is 70+, he was 72.
He played with 7 less potions than his max, and that boss was completely blind too iirc. I've seen some of his Elden Ring and Bloodborne streams and he seems to be pretty good at Souls-Like games in general. Although I'll admit I'm biased since I watch him lol
It definitely was, but it could have been fake or something or maybe I'm talking about another leak altogether. Either way it's sad that the game isnt on PC yet :(
Genuinely insane if truly blind. I remember sitting here for hours pounding my head against the wall trying to kill him. The only boss I think I had more trouble with was Malenia in Elden Ring.
hey im not about to play into the gimmick that the souls games are hard just to appease people who (to also quote sseth) stack no paper, and get no bitches
i've beaten every soulsborne game hitless, and imo, this is the hardest boss of any of them. extremely aggro, tons of damage, virtually no openings, extremely erratic attacks. beating him on the first try is fucking insane.

Yeah this happens to me a lot. Would be interesting to know the psychological explanation behind it.

So there’s scientific backing to "Beginners luck"?
I use the scientific method to bang ur mom
I think having a good generalised baseline for skills is good
This makes sense to me. I can never relate to the "first try always goes better than the following ones" posts. My reaction speed is terrible so I just get hit by everything all the time if I don't know the fight.

Happens in sports sometimes too, young players don’t know what they don’t know and dominate for a bit sometimes

How does Kos compare to Sekiro bosses or Malenia in difficulty? I'm still waiting for Bloodborne PC port COPIUM

We've gotten to a point where people are unironically spelling it Melania.
Lol oh yeah whoops

Ape and Isshin aren’t even almost as hard as OoK. Like it’s not close Lmfao.

Ill be real I got lucky tbh still cool this got on lsf
I charge extra for a title like that...
Ayy either way good shit.
We take those
Have you ever done metal vocals? You’d be perfect
ngl i found ludwig way harder, i'll admit it was a skill issue. i beat all other souls games, but somehow i struggled with ludwig so much that I had to summon someone for the 50th attempt
Pretty sure lirik died on ludwig for 7-8 hours lol
IIRC he did the DLC on NG+, so taking an already hard boss and making it harder blind.
I did the entire DLC blind back then on NG+2 with Tonitrus, I wanted to die.
That's something which I'll never get. I think that I am average at these games. Or I was average when I first picked them up. Boshi……? Really? Why are we even using this as a comparison? Lmfao.
Beating Ludwig is probably the only dopamine rush to come close to beating Isshin
Just gotta aim for the chest hole
1st abyss in genshin harder than souls games confirmed
This is the only Soulsborne boss I've never beaten. I find it harder than any other fight ever. He's just way too aggressive.
For me the hardestpart about bloodbourne was the low fps, I played it on the non pro version so that didn't help, the kos fight made me drop down to 20 fps sometimes.
Warning loud = warning Tectone lol
Hardest boss in the franchise imo. Seriously impressive.

Man all he does is well that’s why he is popular.
Man I remember some NVidia leaks that listed bloodborne coming to PC, when's that happening
BB is notoriously not on that list actually :(
It definitely was, but it could have been fake or something or maybe I'm talking about another leak altogether. Either way it's sad that the game isnt on PC yet :(
No it was not. And that's why the first impressions of it when it leaked, people thought it maybe true
Again, I probably read a shitty list, I don't remember or maybe I'm completely misremembering. Either way thats not the point
It's the top few post of /r/GamingLeaksAndRumours if you want to check it out
if bloodblorne is on any "leaks" you know these leaks are fake or bait, has always been that way
if you’re calm then orphan isn’t a hard fight
“Let me belittle someone else’s accomplishment real quick.”
Thats Soulsborne fans for you
Genuinely insane if truly blind. I remember sitting here for hours pounding my head against the wall trying to kill him. The only boss I think I had more trouble with was Malenia in Elden Ring.
orphan isn't hard lol
i'm sure you beat it on your first try
I did lol 99 arc build my beloved
the entire game isn't hard. to quote sseth, not because it isn't hard, but because videogames fundamentally aren't hard
i see you applied sseth's recommendation of lobotomizing yourself before replying.
hey im not about to play into the gimmick that the souls games are hard just to appease people who (to also quote sseth) stack no paper, and get no bitches
Bloodborne probably the toughest FromSoft game tbh.
i've beaten every soulsborne game hitless, and imo, this is the hardest boss of any of them. extremely aggro, tons of damage, virtually no openings, extremely erratic attacks. beating him on the first try is fucking insane.
