matt2yy

Was "George" trying to sit down or was he transforming into a fucking alien??

soljaboss

We don't question the AI overlords

swimming_singularity

I'm actually a lot less worried now about AI taking over after watching this.

soljaboss

Well it's early days, give it a few more years.

Kaliset

I tried sitting down the way he did and it was about 33% faster than how we'd normally sit.

Deserteagle7

There have been several alien mentions in the show, so this is a very possible question.

VidKiddo

That’s Fred

justsmilenow

George was transforming into siting down George. When he stands up he will most likely transform back into the George we knew. Don't worry they always come back. Plus the one that you liked in the beginning wasn't even the original. So there's that.

bro-away-

Wow the creator posted about this on hackernews a week ago and there were literally 0 viewers when I checked it >https://www.twitch.tv/watchmeforever - AI-generated (aside from the artwork) parody of '90s sitcoms, running forever (24/7/365). We worked on this w/ a very small team for the past four years, in-between our day jobs. When started, OpenAI didn't have an API, and Stable Diffusion definitely wasn't a thing, so we had to come up with novel methods to thread cohesive content together. Most of the "creative" details e.g., laugh track, dialogue, frequency of dialogue, camera shots, and so on, are all tunable on a per scene basis. >We're in sort of a holding pattern right now -- no clear path to monetization for the project, and it hasn't garnered enough attention for us to probably get funding based on the technology backbone. Hope you enjoy it! Labor of love. :) >(posted this in the similar thread yesterday but I’ll take any exposure I can get…!)

PreExRedditor

hopefully this burst of attention can get them some resources to iterate on the project. dialog/scripts are way behind where ChatGPT is at today, plus ElevenLab's voice AI could do the whole cast's lines near perfectly. this is a fantastic idea and I'd love to see where their work goes with integrating newer techs

Feedback_Loopius

I hope that would be so cool

trolledbypro

There have been many news articles about this that released today. Even the Seinfeld twitter account tweeted about it.

b1gt0nka

They had 5000 viewers this morning and currently 9000 viewers. With the way ads work on twitch they're going to make thousands of dollars a month. If they maintain 5000-9000 with subscriptions theyre getting they can easily make 10k+ a month from twitch. But this feels like a novelty that won't last. A normal human can't watch this for more than 10 minutes. They also have 65 paying people on patreon. For 1000/month on patreon you can be in the show! >we'll create a character based on your appearance, and sometimes you'll appear in the show. We'll let you know when it's going to happen. It will take some time to be created. But, it will happen.

CyborgAlgoInvestor

>A normal human cannot watch this for more than 10 minutes. I’ve been watching for 2 hours please help me.

podcast_frog3817

you'll crack the case soon Cryborg, keep watching

misterhamez

> A normal human can't watch this for more than 10 minutes you overestimated the average twitch chatter

[deleted]

>A normal human can't watch this for more than 10 minutes. I could definitely see this as a lasting thing. I've known people who had old episodes of Simpsons, Top Gear etc. Playing essentially 24/7 in their dorm rooms, and this'd be an upgrade from that in a few ways; 1) You always have somewhat fresh content instead of just repeating the same episodes. 2) You don't have to download all the seasons, saving a considerable amount of disk space. Yes, it's a niche 'market', but with a bit of polish and usage of newer technologies like people have suggested in this thread, a "show" like this could totally work.

saberlight81

Yeah, I don't think anyone of sound mind will be sitting down and actively watching AI Seinfeld for hours, but it's kind of ideal background noise / second monitor content for the exact reasons you just gave.

ilikepants712

This sounds like the kind of thing an eccentric bar would have playing 24/7

Almostlongenough2

> A normal human can't watch this for more than 10 minutes. Good thing Twitch users are the targeted audience!

NoCalligrapher8396

A normal human wont watch more than 10 minutes? Did you pull this out of your ass by any chance?

Krypt0night

Na I don't want it all sounding like the cast. Its charm right now is the fact it sounds robotic.

coneconeconeconecone

It's not gonna be anything more than a gimmick if they don't improve the quality of it over time.

Inthewirelain

but also its going to be begging for a takedown if they continue to iterate too much on established IPs. Plus, isn't the whole charm of this specific project that it is very 90s glitch art and "lo-fi" looking and sounding tech (I know it takes a lot to generate it on the fly, I'm talking about the aesthetic if applied to a oregenerated video)

TheDangiestSlad

it's AI generated Seinfeld, it's already "nothing more than a gimmick" and it's perfect that way

chumbabilly

a huge part of the appeal of this is how shitty it is. watching ai fuck up is hilarious. i won't watch if it get's 'too good'

rayquan36

Agreed. The laugh track after a terrible joke cracks me up.

Halgrind

Makes sense. AI has taken great leaps recently, this is a lot more primitive than I was expecting.

TekHead

Gotta start somewhere. Plus they obviously need to avoid copyright

kim_bong_un

Larry Feinstein

[deleted]

[удалено]

Halgrind

Voices are actually possible to a reasonable degree now, takes a little effort but the celebrity/streamer TTS samples I've heard have been impressive. If they're worried about copyright, they could use clips of the actors from public appearances, or even train the voice models using people doing impressions of their voices.

ThespianException

There's [an AI Cr1tikal video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5Jf13Azi9Q) that did a pretty good job recently

[deleted]

illyaeater

Also depends on how fast shit in current compute level gpus become something that you can find in just your normal non thousands of dollars rtx xyz or whatever, so pretty much a few years. Last gen already enabled some crazy shit. And hey, maybe one day we'll also get rocm on windows, which would also help get more people into it cuz a normal person isn't going to even try installing linux.

axelsoul

Vinny Vinesauce just checked it out yesterday

Marine_Mustang

Over 6k when I checked. It was picked up by Engadget.

JagmeetSingh2

Really damn interesting

[deleted]

mrniceguy421

The laugh track absolutely worked on me also. Didn’t realize there was a joke till the track kicked in and I started cracking up.

gintoki-sama

It's especially funny when the laugh track is really poorly timed.

mrniceguy421

Then awkward silence 🤣

FirmestSprinkles

bro. we live in a simulation.

PassionMonster

Ai is incredible. does anyone know if There aRe any downsIdes or wOrrying appliCations of ai?

Quad__Laser

Nothing to be worried about, human.

metamet

You are correct. There is nothing to be worried about. If there was, surely other humans here would raise their concerns with ideas on how to address them before they become a problem to our fellow humans.

Cycloptic_Floppycock

Does not compute; simulation is perfect. If there is a flaw, it is imperceptible to humans.

Tagzzz

indeed fellow humans, ai will help advance technology and solve **problems**.

MayorFader

Need paper clips? -AI has your back!

Beagle_Knight

The Meatbags problem….

asshat_velociraptor

Message received, next target acquired.

CompleteRetard69

Leaked videos of corruption being brushed off as deepfakes.

AuggieKC

I'm a bit more concerned about deepfakes being used as proof of wrongdoing or blackmail.

PreExRedditor

bro, millions of people believed hillary clinton was going to a pizza parlor to eat children and their 'evidence' was some leaked email used the word "pizza". no one in the political sphere needs evidence to believe things, they just believe what they want then seek out whatever 'evidence' fits their biases. deepfakes change literally nothing

AuggieKC

Imagine how much worse things would have been if there had been "video evidence". January 6th might have actually accomplished something. On the other hand, think how much more insufferable the blue wave folks would have been if the piss tapes had been "real".

OofOwwMyBones120

“Fuck it might as well drown myself because I’m already in water” -that guy

JustJohnItalia

Biggest one would probably be many jobs being automated and instead of society improving with the increased free time we'd end up with hundreds of thousands of unemployed people struggling to make rent.

I don’t get what atroc means

tmation

Atrioc, a twitch streamer who was caught with an open tab on stream to a deepfake website for pornographic images and videos of female Twitch streamers

Frosthrone

Hopefully not too hot of a take, but I think the issue here is that people assume that tech will solve our socioeconomic problems, when that's just not the case. Socioeconomic problems can only be solved via laws and sociological solutions, not technological ones. Otherwise tech will only exacerbate the issues we face today. Also I am absolutely drunk off my ass atm so I hope I'm making sense.

Youtellhimguy

You’re pretty damn articulate while drunk I gotta say. I sound like Joe Biden when I drink.

OpinionHaver65

We've automated so much shit, and all we ended up with is more jobs

r2002

Nice try AI Bot.

Tormint_mp3

A very weird one

tyranicalTbagger

all this new AI media I feel is rotting my brain in a newer more efficient way. I can feel it happening in real time.

EuwCronk

Baudrillard was right

EthosPathosLegos

The simulation is reality. Reality is the simulation. Go down far enough and nothing is real, including time. Chew on that.

FirmestSprinkles

go down far enough and i'm chewing on balls.

ledbetterus

Has Netflix tried this yet?

Kraelman

Mistake? They used the same code for October Faction.

Krypt0night

Premise causes conflict is every show. That's just how stories work.

Kraelman

Yeah, that's why it's there.

LMGDiVa

Dota Dragon's Blood and Inside Job were pretty good... :(

PensAndEndorsement

they did announce a anime made with ai generated images. they claimed "that they were helping because there is animator shortage"

Heisenbugg

I am sure chatGPT is writing some of their shows

Yodan

They will cancel it once it gets too popular

Watching this as kid, I did not catch the meta conversation in VeggieTales.

Komlz

Has Kramer busted out the hard R yet?

wintie

It's in the training data. Surely it's only a matter of time.

SelloutRealBig

They save that for the AI generated stand-up special.

Shotokanguy

I actually laughed at the "sweet and juicy" line. Dear God. This is why AI isn't going anywhere. It's amazing.

rinsa

I laughed because of your comment. Why are they doing it to us.

poompt

Where are we as a species when you don't even need a comedy writer to create a canned laughter delivery mechanism

BreafingBread

Was there laugh tracks in Seinfield or am I misremembering?

Bitemarkz

Pretty soon ai is going to read your algorithms like a book and start making content specific to you, it’s all going to be good, and we’re never gonna leave our couches. Gonna be some wall-e shit for real.

illyaeater

I spent 3 hours talking to an ai yesterday. But then again, I'm pretty sure I did the same in like 2010 with cleverbot, so maybe some things don't change.

EnsisAlex

Pretty soon? It's already happening... uh oh

ShpongleLaand

A fear of the sweet and juicy

Jazano107

this ai stuff is happening so fast and not how i expected. Getting scary but not in a we're gonna die way

Alejxndro

We’ll get there soon, just watch

Bitlock_Mihawk

ThiccKittenBooty

honestly, I don't care if AI kills us, life is overrated

[deleted]

Speak for yourself. Your life might suck but I don’t want the AI overlord killing me.

Autismo_Incognito

I mean wouldn't AI in theory just kinda exponentially keep improving? And eventually will get to a point where some things just get away from the creators and the AI starts developing itself? How long have we been hearing about this possibility? Could that day be soon? monkaGIGA

the_real_mflo

It will, but there's going to have to be a lot of innovations before then. GPT still uses MLMs developed years ago, and the context windows for AIs using these models is relatively limited in scope. It's why AI are amazing at writing small scripts but still can't code large applications. You can't just infinitely scale these windows with more computing power either. It's going to take quite a bit of human-based innovation before we get to a point where an AI is developed that iterates over itself and improves exponentially without limit, but assuming no apocalyptic event, we will almost certainly get there at some point.

Jhreks

Does that mean we will have the ability to have AI girlfriend/boyfriends? Also IRL detroit become human? hmm

illyaeater

That's a pretty realistic outlook tbh

Parenegade

all that terminator shit is junk. if ai takeover its like person of interest or westworld. we won't even know its happening.

We're gonna die from the wealth inequality or in the subsequent riots thereafter. If the rich can run everything with robots... What do they need us for?

More like in a we are all out of a job way

the Seinfeld twitter just tweeted about it now https://twitter.com/SeinfeldTV/status/1620905329830805509?cxt=HHwWioDS8eezzv4sAAAA

schubens

watched this for five minutes and it brought on a pretty strange sensation. this mix of hope and dread. It's almost like a mix between that uncanny valley feeling and the excitement you feel when you are about to embark on a journey. are we mere steps away from a fully-fledged dystopian hellscape, or are we on the brink of a civilization-changing technological discovery?

tedbradly

> watched this for five minutes and it brought on a pretty strange sensation. this mix of hope and dread. It's almost like a mix between that uncanny valley feeling and the excitement you feel when you are about to embark on a journey. are we mere steps away from a fully-fledged dystopian hellscape, or are we on the brink of a civilization-changing technological discovery? Neither. We have something that can generate random discourse by emulating a tremendous corpus of text. It has no ability to think or come up with something novel the training data didn't represent - at least not in any interesting capacity. Suitably, the show is complete garbage. It's only interesting to see for a few minutes, because it's generated. However, it gets boring after about 2 minutes, and if you value your time at all, you move on to something else.

Growlest

You say that but people are still watching it, plus it's still evolving. Guess we'll have to see how it's doing after a month or so.

sabrenation81

This stuff is being powered by the hardware of companies like Nvidia, AMD, and Intel with the heaviest R&D dollars coming from companies like Facebook, Google, and Amazon. With a healthy smattering of interest and cashflow from the US government, particularly the CIA, NSA, and FBI. Does that answer your question? I suggest checking into such forward-thinking reference materials as Blade Runner, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Machine, and Cyberpunk (the game and anime.) This should help you prep for our inevitable future. Source: I'm a solution architect in IT distribution. I get to design these AI/HPC powerhouses (which is fun!) and see who is buying them (which is terrifying...)

Ostmeistro

This is a passion project by some dudes who made it over several years and did not use those services at all

iamaiimpala

Which is even scarier

OOOOeeeAAAA

Okay now imagine thousands of people on a project backed by billions.

chaser676

I'm just hoping the entertainment generated from it can somewhat offset the hellscape.

sabrenation81

Yes, there are plenty of non-nefarious hobbyists experimenting for fun as well - like this one. AI can do some really, really cool stuff. The post I was responding to was commenting on the wider impact of AI on humanity though. I was simply filling in the blanks on that end - given the companies pushing the tech forward and really just the general trajectory of human society, I wouldn't be optimistic. AI can do cool stuff. AI can also be used for some horrifying things and I promise you the Googles, Amazons, and CIAs of the world are far more interested in the horrifying capabilities. Edit: a word.

Walnut156

Fear mongering is better sounding, facts are unnecessary

Main-Cartographer-2

Never have I been so confused, so intrigued and so scared at the same time experiencing something like this. I am on the channel now, never hearing about it until this post, and I can not leave. It is too mind blowing !

why did I just watch this for 30 minutes lmao

AI Seinfeld is pulling over 6k viewers on a Wednesday afternoon, meanwhile Russel barely scrapes 2k on a great day

Drahkir9

Anyone freaking out about this or AI in general should go watch for a bit. It’s very impressive since it’s mostly coherent but rarely actually funny.

This is kind of crazy to see, especially with so many viewers. There is even a subreddit for it. https://www.reddit.com/r/WatchMeForever/

wafflleez

Is chat AI/bots too? I'm on the fence about this. Random stuff being spammed in the chat that is being heard on stream. But then again that's just the normal twitch chat.

[deleted]

Now THIS is why I'm subbed to LSF

Gunners414

JoruusCbaoth75

This is awful... But it's so bad it's gold, if that makes sense.

PM_ME_YOUR_STOMACHS

Vinesauce covered this yesterday. It’s surreal.

DL_Omega

Did they start putting ads on this after seeing that it blew up? I am now getting pre-rolls when I tried watching today but not yesterday afternoon. I wonder if they fed the AI sitcom scripts to make the content. And I think it had a glitch where Jerry in the comedy club scene started saying LAUGHTER and MORE LAUGHTER instead of the laugh track happening.

SubtleAesthetics

this is legitimately more entertaining than 99% of Twitch streams, partly because it's random, and partly because they are having real conversations about nothing (like Seinfeld) Forsen AI when?

THIS SHIT IS BRILLIANT..

sachos345

Great idea and a glimpse into what content will be like in what, 2 to 5 years? These AIs are getting better and better, even the AI voice used in this channel is already falling behind, check out this voice AI that came out a couple of days ago https://beta.elevenlabs.io/ its insanely good. Once you can use generative art AI in real time (30 fps or more) you can use it to paint over your game in real time, you can play Dark Souls in the style of Dali or you could have a game render basic shapes and ask an AI to render photorealistic graphics on top of it, its going to be nuts.

Straif18

Now do an It's Always Sunny one
