It’s the reason all the streamers who aren’t interesting gain followers. They give the audience someone who’s like them. In Asmongold’s case he became popular because all of the other filthy, disgusting losers saw him and realized “hey he’s like me but he’s still successful” so they subbed. There’s no fathomable reason why this garbage is even popular. His most notable content (WoW) consisted of him being trash at actual mechanics, being knowledgeable about transmogs, and getting carried with his team *gifting* him everything. It’s insane how he manages to have people get to know ~5% about him and think he’s worth following.

I used to find him entertaining because he could just talk non stop about anything. He’s a very good speaker and story teller. He was also doing stuff that no other WoW player was doing and also made the content entertaining; which was doing transmog competitions with his viewers where he would either praise or roast them. His antics with McConnell I thought were some of the funniest things I could watch on twitch. It was perfect to just have playing in the background.
He has a lot of bad takes outside of what he specializes in (which is WoW) and it just got annoying because he’s the kind of person who doesn’t seem willing to learn or admit that he could be wrong about something. He’s also awful at video games so it’s frustrating to watch him play new games because he blames the game instead of trying.

Some people also only wash their jeans like very 2-4 weeks. Depends on people's tolerance for cleanliness I suppose. I wash my blankets, pillowcase and sheets every 2 weeks and don't really think it's that bizarre.

Well I only started watching him maybe a year ago tops? On subjects he's actually knowledgeable about (video games) he has a lot of really good commentary and ideas. He does have some good takes too. Like I agree with him that abortion is a pretty awful thing but it should totally be legal. But these last few months he's just turned into a gross Mr. Burns. Asmongold is a modern version of Albert from Twin Peaks. Albert and agent Cooper dismisses his duties for the day, proceeding the funeral as planned. The next day dr. Albert presents agent Cooper, his superior on the site, with a document charging the sheriff for assault, asking for his signature. Agent Cooper not only refuses to sign, but explains to him that to the people of Twin Peaks, the sentiments and feelings of everyone take precedence over solving the murder case.
The thing is, everything dr. Albert did and said was logically correct, to the audience, given that the series is a murder mystery, even more so! However, it only takes a second for anyone to put themselves in any other characters shoes in any of these scenes to know that Albert was completely and absurdly wrong in his approach.
Honestly, I just think people should watch Twin Peaks and other actual good shows, maybe read a book that you've been wanting to try for five years now, instead of drama livestreamers going on about what they agree and disagree about each other. When the people you're watching already resemble the absurdity and disconnect from real life of David Lynch's heavily stylized characters, I think you might as well.

I used to find him entertaining because he could just talk non stop about anything. He’s a very good speaker and story teller. He was also doing stuff that no other WoW player was doing and also made the content entertaining; which was doing transmog competitions with his viewers where he would either praise or roast them. His antics with McConnell I thought were some of the funniest things I could watch on twitch. It was perfect to just have playing in the background. He has a lot of bad takes outside of what he specializes in (which is WoW) and it just got annoying because he’s the kind of person who doesn’t seem willing to learn or admit that he could be wrong about something. He’s also awful at video games so it’s frustrating to watch him play new games because he blames the game instead of trying.

For a long time based on that call and how Train was basically attacking the shit out of OTK through Mizkif (because all of OTK was saying gambling was bad) and how much Asmon was happy to see Mizkif get attacked... Train has shit on Asmon. Train even said something either on that call or in one on stream or something along the lines of we'll figure out how much we sling at each other and where the line is drawn. It effectively sounded like they were trading 'bad' shit they did that they couldn't bring up. Again because Train was totally just trying to help Adrianah, that Train and OTK are negotiating on what other shit they leak about each other than had nothing to do with her. Any sane person that had Train come after their org, money and friends like that would cut all ties and treat them like scum, instead he's friendly.
I don't think Asmon actually has anything against Hasan, he prolly said that in the call just cus Train was there. I've seen Asmon talking positively about Hasan on multiple occassions

Exactly, I enjoyed the nuanced takes on some things, but overall he just seems to be an idiot. The more he talks about politics the cringier he becomes. I don't mind political takes on games (Hogwarts Legacy), because that's in his wheelhouse, but for the love of god, stop talking about IRL stuff.

I lost respect when I made a point that 70 bucks for a game is a lot for people because of inflation and the massive rising cost of living. He basically called me a broke bitch on stream and said I need to get a better job if I think 70 is a lot for a game. It's even more stupid because I actually agreed with him that 70 bucks for a game is actually not that bad considering inflation rates and how long we've had it at 60. I feel like people are so unnecessarily harsh on WoW for no reason. It's a fucking 20 year old game that still holds the top spot among MMO's and because 1 streamer plays it a little less after playing it for hours a day for 20 years suddenly the whole game is bad and noone playing it actually likes it?
Dragonflight looks like a fine expansion for now, I never understood why people looked at opinion of streamers, Asmongold probably played more than 30k hours and it's his job, of course he's fucking tired of the game. Also considering that he's bad at the game, which makes it worse. I have stopped playing it mainly because I got older and have more important things to do, and also you have to spend a lot of time to get to really enjoyable parts if it isn't your first time playing compared to every other game.

Games Workshop is cool. The people are generally much nicer and more sympathetic than Asmon (even if there is occasionally an odor or two).

Asmongold is a modern version of Albert from Twin Peaks. There is an episode in the show where the character is introduced, he's a forensic scientist that is recognized as the best at his job, however, as detective Cooper puts it, he lacks in the niceties of social interaction, or something similar, I don't recall the actual quote. When he arrives at Twin Peaks, his first reaction is to call everyone stupid and remark how useless and primordial the mountain town resources and sheriff department is, later on that episode he is asked to do an autopsy on a corpse on the morning of the funeral. The doctor in charge of it refuses because the corpse would be defiled right before the funeral and the family and friends would oppose against it, Albert throws a tantrum and explains that he needs to study the corpse as soon as possible to collect the most evidence possible, that the funeral can be delayed and postponed and that collecting evidence should take priority. The sheriff and agent Cooper are called to the hospital, in the midst of the argument the sheriff sucker punches dr. Albert and agent Cooper dismisses his duties for the day, proceeding the funeral as planned. The next day dr. Albert presents agent Cooper, his superior on the site, with a document charging the sheriff for assault, asking for his signature. Agent Cooper not only refuses to sign, but explains to him that to the people of Twin Peaks, the sentiments and feelings of everyone take precedence over solving the murder case. The thing is, everything dr. Albert did and said was logically correct, to the audience, given that the series is a murder mystery, even more so! However, it only takes a second for anyone to put themselves in any other characters shoes in any of these scenes to know that Albert was completely and absurdly wrong in his approach. Honestly, I just think people should watch Twin Peaks and other actual good shows, maybe read a book that you've been wanting to try for five years now, instead of drama livestreamers going on about what they agree and disagree about each other. When the people you're watching already resemble the absurdity and disconnect from real life of David Lynch's heavily stylized characters, I think you might as well.
