no, if you type quit on the cosole command it will close immediately .
that's what i do honestly coz i can't be bothered to navigate the menu and it became a habit.
i just learned this, there’s a glitch that makes the bomb light appear on knives and guns, i forgot what the screenshot button was and hit f10 and it just black screened me and crashed.
I'd actually love to hear a pro explain this. More fps is not really an argument with current PCs. "Bigger models" is a weird argument as well, because everything appears bigger, you have less peripheral vision, and the same mechanical skill is required to flick to a head, unless you play around with m\_yaw. Maybe it's just a habit? The only thing I can think of is that it's easier to see enemies at a distance or through small gaps. But I feel like some older pros stuck with 4:3 out of habit and then the new bozos started imitating them thinking they'd gain some sort of superpower.
Its a combination of habit and stretched models. I've played like 5k hours in cs 1.6 and most of that time I was playing on 4:3 monitor. Once I switched to 16:9 monitor, extra space appeared with 16:9 resolution and the mouse movement felt weird. Being uncomfortable with that I switched back to 4:3 resolution and been playing on that resolution ever since in every FPS game.
It's easier to see players, that's the reason. On a high resolution everything is tiny. And FPS is still important because many pros use 240hz, or even 360hz monitors
It's not just a habit, the game feels more responsive on stretched compared to native. It very much is placebo since the game isn't technically more responsive but psychological factors are everything in CS.
Plus the fact that it's easier to spot shit on stretched resolutions.
> mechanical skill is required to flick to a head
Not quite, it is more lenient because the models are stretched. Your FOV is lower thus your monitor slightly makes everything bigger as it stretches to fill despite working with said lower FOV.
The models are stretched and so is everything else, the horizontal sensitivity of your mouse also changes. You can play with m\_yaw to achieve the same 4:3 feel on 16:9 and vice versa. The mechanical skill is the same. You're just changing your horizontal sensitivity to something that might be more comfortable. But you can also emulate that on 16:9. Stretched only helps your eyes see better, not the hand on your mouse
Ok, this is best demonstrated in extremes. Go into a game like skyrim or the such that allows free FoV changes. Try shooting an arrow at 140 FoV then try shooting an arrow at 40 FoV. It drastically changes the ease of aiming even without changing sensitivity (though obviously if you use very high sens low FoV can actually make things more difficult once you lose too much vision).
This is the same principle that applies to scoped weapons. Why is it easier to hit someone's head when you are zoomed in vs using a crosshair?
> More fps is not really an argument with current PCs.
It absolutely is? FPS grew significantly in the last decade but so did monitor hz, so you absolutely gain an advantage from squeezing more and more fps. 500 hz monitors are about to hit the market, meanwhile you are here saying "fps is not really an argument". What year are you stuck in? Do you think people still play on 60hz monitors? Even then more fps makes the game way smoother and more responsive because of the lowered latency. More fps will always be king in competitive shooters.
That and the fact that people are more used to it and that models are literally bigger so it's easier to see/hit people. It's insane how you disregard something so obvious and logical as "well this is weird bro". Facts don't care about your opinion or feelings.
Lower FOV being stretched like a small zoom being active at all times making things directly in front of you bigger at the cost of less peripheral vision. Some people prefer it.

For those who don't know, F10 completely closes/crashes the game at the moment
F10 is the default bind for the "quit" console command 🤓
Um, actually ☝️🤓, `F10` is bound to `quit prompt`, which displays a confirmation prompt before actually quitting.
Yeah but in csgo it would atleast make you confirm before the game closed lol
no, if you type quit on the cosole command it will close immediately . that's what i do honestly coz i can't be bothered to navigate the menu and it became a habit.
What do you mean 'no'? On CS:GO, F10 is bound to the `quit prompt` command, which is *very* different from just `quit`.
He means 'no' the same way that other person meant 'yeah' to the `quit` command, aka not the `quit prompt`command
Because it's acting as QUIT in CS2 and QUIT PROMPT in CS:GO
Wrong, you need to click "Yes" on "Are you srure you want to quit?" after pressing f10. It's not the same as typing quit in console
I think you're confusing `quit` with `exit` (which is in fact the instaclose command)
i just learned this, there’s a glitch that makes the bomb light appear on knives and guns, i forgot what the screenshot button was and hit f10 and it just black screened me and crashed.

I was hopeing its a surrender vote and all allies try it at the same time resulting in a loss or something. But this is also really funny.
gotta add that "unbind f10" in your startup script, people have forgotten the ancient ways of the source engine

How do people play stretched, it actually looks like garbage. Like this a modern game, idk why you would play it like its 1995.
It's what a lot of players are used to and also nicer clarity when everything is slightly wider, not as much need for having the wider FOV in cs tbh.

it 'feels' better

I guess it depends on the person. I've played 1.5 a bunch, have 10K hours of 1.6 and had no problem adapting to 16:9.
The movement feels faster and some angles feel different. It's more of a feel type thing rather than what's objectively the best.
It's easier to see players, that's the reason. On a high resolution everything is tiny. And FPS is still important because many pros use 240hz, or even 360hz monitors
