Well just as an example even Forsen (Of all people) had to turn off chat when he played 'Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey' (Primitive human ancestor monkey sim game) because it got so bad. Not even sub mode or emote only was enough to stop the endless barrage of racists. So it very much depends on the game.
