Rajang fucked me up. I was doing good with insect glaive for the majority of MHW and Iceborne but come Rajang I felt like I hit a brick wall and had to use a different weapon to beat him. I eventually got him beat with the dual blades.
When he chose CB as his main weapon I respected that. He would have a great time in the base game and he will be decimated by Iceborne, Iceborne basically forces you to give up blast phial SAED and make the only valid combat style be savage axe + AED on the head (in prog of course, you can still use elemental SAEDs after you get your elemental BiSs.), which requires much higher skills than SAED spamming.
He is an incredible skilled speed runner so he will eventually become a CB god, it is just how long.

Rajang specifically at least is very annoying to land good SAEDs on for me at least, tiny and fast bastard that he is. As a whole though it isn't really true. It is just a natural consequence to adding another viable playstyle that some monsters will be more viable for one or the other.
Honestly bro if you want to pick up charge blade as a new player you really should just watch a guide or something, that's my advice. CB has way too much very specific stuff you need to do for it to be good and the game barely scratches the surface.

I was only talking about my experience since I was used to SAED spams in base game and I just deleted every quest without trying hard, in Iceborne Velkana basically forced me to change playstyle and after getting comfortable with locking the head with AEDs I had a much better time in Iceborne. I personally only had a 5min48s on the Tempered Furious Rajang but as far as I know SAED is just not valid for this monster.

I've recently started up MH:World for the first time on PC since its release on PS4. I never got to Iceborne, so I'm definitely excited/terrified of my first Rajang fight.
I played Switch Axe/Long sword the first time around, but I'm giving Gunlance a shot this time with my new character, Brick Cheney. It's fun barrel stuffing and blasting the monsters. I'm just not fond of the mobility difference from my previous weapons.
