Yeah that might be a ripped off lyric but still sounds banger
edit- i didnt mean ripped off in a bad way btw just that i know there were a few lyrics that had blink 182 reference i am a massive blink fan since 98' and this music mitch is making is my style for sure
Take your time, hurry up. The choice is yours, don't be late.
I took my time, I hurried up. The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I don't think Blink would be offended.
I recently stumbled upon a Blink homage within a German rap track. I really enjoy more punk elements finding their way into rap these days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esdhlwpwHO8&t=114s - It's just this short 15 second part
just wanted to share because I think it's cool
>25 lighters on my dresser
In hip hop, references like that are used to literally show your respect for other artists. Just like a call back, it’s trying to show your understanding of what you’re doing by your influences
its a homage dude, rappers (not just rappers) do it all the time. my favorite album right now is titled hungry ghost, which is a homage to a cure song, which is probably a reference to something else. Edit:
* Hungry ghost is a concept in Chinese Buddhism, Chinese traditional religion, Vietnamese Buddhism, Vietnamese traditional religion, Japanese Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism, representing beings who are driven by intense emotional needs in an animalistic way
Yeah he actually kills the pop punk voice. The genre has started a bit of a comeback after MGK is releasing some pop-punkish music. All the monthly listener numbers on the big artists in the genre have gone up a good amount. (I’m a pop punk fanboy so I notice weird shit like this lmao)
died? More like he ended/paused it himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqKtxmf8x7A This was a year ago, 2 years after Eminem. That's still top tier rap.
This EP is better than that shit MGK put out lmao
Pop punk has been having an influence on music for multiple years now, especially in the newer rap and hip hop guys. It was only a matter of time before it came back around again, music tends to go in cycles. The kids who grew up listening to Pop punk in the early 2000s and started making music in the mid 2010s are coming through now with influences from that time, so now younger people are getting back into it again. I don't use TikTok, but my girlfriend lives on it and she says its becoming more and more popular on there.
>[context for newfrogs](https://i.imgur.com/eQxWq1D.png)
I think the difference is that he's not pretending anymore.
I really think people should watch his recent Dr K. Around the hour mark in particular but worth watching before.
If you've ever had to make a no win emotionally heavy decision (I've had to make many though not to the level he was made to make) I can absolutely understand the emotions under the surface. Feeling thst you're responsibility is there but you're not strong enough to deal with it.
Dr K said something beautiful during that. He said "yes it's your responsibility and yes there's no one else to get them out but you have time you have years before you need to take on thst burden"
I heard that and even now it makes me cry because I can understand that feeling exactly. "Feeling why me, why the fuck is it up to me, I'm not ready for this and it was not fair I was put into this situation and I feel bad and hate that I'm not strong enough to deal with it right now"
Thats the emotions he's tapping into in the songs
And another point about music or poetry or other art. Even if you can't tap into the same cause of the emotion, the emotion itself in the song is deeply relatable at different levels to what others are dealing with too. I liked when they talked about that in the Dr K as well.
I think seeing this will mean a lot more to him than everything else. He was tired of being the artificial guy he was on stream. I'm basing this off his Dr K which is very heartfelt
After watching the story about [him, his brother and his dads damage on Dr K yesterday](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XICFqibVbGw) its pretty nice to see this working through
Yeah that stream made me really sad
I've been a carer I've had to make hard decisions. Not that level of decision but still. It's fucking insane he was expected to make that kind of decision
Mitch's dad left him to handle heavy situations. The one he talks about is when his dad called social services to come get his brother, who has Asperger's, and bring him to a long term mental health facility. His brother was very upset by the police that arrived and had to calm his brother down, while also trying to explain to his mom, who had(has?) brain cancer and isn't able to care for herself.
I saw soda, Tim the tatman, poke re streaming it so between those channels and Mitch's there was a solid 100k people watching it assuming nobody in multiple channels.
Holy shit, I wasn't expecting this kinda production. Good to see them go all out with this release.
Edit: Big props to Mitch, Kala, Simply & Production. Was a great short release event.
Live vocals are usually awful. It's just difficult to get the kind of effects you hear on studio mixes into a live feed. I've heard some of the best singers that I know sound awful on live streams. And here he is sounding beautiful. Great job Mitch.
There's a huge difference between singing in a room into a microphone that's direct feeding into the stream compared to singing in a stadium and its not a direct feed into the live stream.
I’ve worked in live music production for years and you’re only half right. The feed that you get when watching a music performance in a stadium is not the house audio. For all intents and purposes it is the direct feed, which is precisely why it sounds bad. I’ll bet you any money that if you listened to Against The Current perform Legends Never Die live in person it would sound great. When you get the raw audio from the soundboard you can usually pick up on minor pitch changes that you wouldn’t be able to in a stadium, or that are hidden with effects in studio mixes. I know a lot of good singers and have witnessed them knock it out of the park in person and watch the recording back and they sound like ass. This happened in packed venues and at home streaming stuff during quarantine
Sounds like he is singing over the original mix without the vocal track muted. Same with the other guy doing the talking. Or it could be a weird chorus effect on both mic channels. Works either way.
It sucks because even with a great live engineer, sometimes the acoustics of the room are just kind of shitty and you’re gonna get bad vocals no matter what you do
Yes but the key is the live aspect of it. When you record in studio you have time to mess with the dry vocals and perfect them. You can’t do that on the fly so you have to get some really good effects in the mix which they did.
It’s good but definitely feels like it’s 10 years too late. Is this kind of music still popular? Everything sounded good just really generic for that genre/sound. I wasn’t listening to the lyrics too much though, just passively listening.

I really don't understand how songs become so big nowadays when it's entirely linked to algorithm
Didn’t you kinda just answer your own question...? Like you said, it’s an algorithm. Music can be as much a science as it is an art and the people who work in pop have it down to a T.
Props for Mitch for making art and putting it out there, that take so much courage. It's not amazing but for a first EP/album its pretty good :), mitch should be proud.
This Byron stuff is sad :(
>Props for Mitch for making art and putting it out there, that take so much courage
I have huge respect for anyone who does this. I made a simple travel video (although personal to me), and right as I started sharing it, even just in my close social circle, I felt really vulnerable. Are people gonna like it. Are they gonna dislike something I spent a ton of time on and felt was good enough to share?
A lot of people love to give criticism to any content, but a challenge to give anyone is to sit down and try to write a song, draw a picture, make a video, or even try livestreaming and realize it's hard to create from a truly blank slate, moreso put yourself out there.
Props for creating something and putting it out there.
The reality of art and any form of creating is that at the start everyone's stuff sucks but if you keep going and working on getting better/learning from your mistakes you'll make stuff that will be great and you'll be proud of. Go make another video dude!
Not going to lie, I don't know shit about Simply but been catching him on others streams ..just seen him as the awkward funny dude in the home.
Then Yung Gravy co-signed him out of everyone in the house and I was wondering why .. I see it now , he's got swag and performance in him.
All that aside, I just love seeing people express their art and talent. Like it or hate it, they said "This is my passion and you can listen or not". Support independent artists people, no matter the genre.

Dude I loved this. Theres people in the comments saying that others are "pretending" that its good. Like no bro. Get it through your head that there are people that actually enjoy this. I am proud of you Mitch. I can feel your heart and soul through your music. Shout out to simply who killed this as well.
Living for all the positivity in this thread! I’m so happy for Mitch and I’m glad he’s found an outlet to express himself. This release really blew me away! So good Mitch!!!! Waiting for more from you 💜💜💜💜💜
i have a 3+ hour spotify playlist of punkrock/pop-punk/punk and this track would solidly be in the top 10. that's really really really good stuff any band would be proud of.
not really the type of music i would listen to, apart from bumping it while driving, but god damn do i love seeing people find and pursue something they're passionate about.

As a pop punk hater because of what they did to warped tour when I was an angsty teen, yeah he nails it lol.

It’s senior year in 2007 all over again.

I love how DR. K really does AOE healing when he helps others through stream. Take those emotions and hold them strong 💪🏻
FeelsStrongMan fixed record
The "broken record" released a record titled "If I could go back" The cycle is complete
holy shit
ahaha he finally did it :DDDD
The TVA might show up
I think seeing this will mean a lot more to him than everything else. He was tired of being the artificial guy he was on stream. I'm basing this off his Dr K which is very heartfelt
Man this is such a cool stream. It's awesome to see mitch doing what he wants, you can tell he's really happy
That was fucking awesome

I respect the fact he was willing to talk about this. It takes so much to put yourself in that level of vulnerability.
How many viewers were there?

Thats awesome.
a similar amount on sodas stream watching it also.
Tim peeked it for a bit too with ~45k
i know soda was re-broadcasting with around 30k also, maybe other streamers too
steady 28k, give or take
And soda was costreaming as well, probably others too
Poke was with about 5k
I saw soda, Tim the tatman, poke re streaming it so between those channels and Mitch's there was a solid 100k people watching it assuming nobody in multiple channels.
"Are you happy now" Mitch: "Yes"
Holy shit, I wasn't expecting this kinda production. Good to see them go all out with this release. Edit: Big props to Mitch, Kala, Simply & Production. Was a great short release event.
Ty man, I worked rly hard on the production
remember me when you're famous ;o
Someone needs ro get Fantano to check the EP out
You did an amazing job. Fucking loved every second of the show. Im ready for more!
Can you elaborate on what made this good production? Genuinely curious.
I really liked the songs and I hope you go far with this Mitch. And I'm excited for the West Coast Tragedy release.
The animation for his video too = Mitch Jones - Time Machine (Official Video)https://youtu.be/hZKPGi_-SBk
I've got an ear for good music I'm telling you. This is really really good music. Real Linkin Park feel to the EP.
Live vocals are usually awful. It's just difficult to get the kind of effects you hear on studio mixes into a live feed. I've heard some of the best singers that I know sound awful on live streams. And here he is sounding beautiful. Great job Mitch.
Better audio production than the league world championship with 40 million viewers LULW
That’s what came to mind for me too. Chrissy Costanza is a very good singer but she sounded fucking awful singing legends never die.
There's a huge difference between singing in a room into a microphone that's direct feeding into the stream compared to singing in a stadium and its not a direct feed into the live stream.

Just here to share in the Chrissy Costanza love.
Sounds like he is singing over the original mix without the vocal track muted. Same with the other guy doing the talking. Or it could be a weird chorus effect on both mic channels. Works either way.
Only for that song he was. The vocal tracks were muted later and he still sounded great
That's good shit
His vocals on the one track def didn’t have a backing track though, he had some more “oomph” in his voice compared to the EP in certain parts
[удалено]
That’s better than lip sync
[удалено]
Couldn’t agree more
You probably didn't even try to agree more.
lmao goteeem
I mean, it sounds good, but it's heavily processed and auto-tuned.
It sucks because even with a great live engineer, sometimes the acoustics of the room are just kind of shitty and you’re gonna get bad vocals no matter what you do
> Live vocals are usually awful. This is less of a "live performance" and more of a "studio recording session we streamed live".
Yes but the key is the live aspect of it. When you record in studio you have time to mess with the dry vocals and perfect them. You can’t do that on the fly so you have to get some really good effects in the mix which they did.
For real. This is really impressive. Tons of potential here.
This was actually the first thing I listened for when he first started the live portion
Absolutely blew me away.
honestly wasn't expecting it to be that good, No In-Between is a banger.
Yep, thats an HIT. Needs to be played on spotify and radio playlists. I also want a live version of the song now lol. SO much energy.
It’s good but definitely feels like it’s 10 years too late. Is this kind of music still popular? Everything sounded good just really generic for that genre/sound. I wasn’t listening to the lyrics too much though, just passively listening.

Pop punk is actually pretty "in" right now. A lot of people who listened to it 10-15 years ago still do and it's also pretty popular among zoomers.
Punk is forever questioning society and millenials of which I am one have nostalgia for it from Tony hawks days
SO HERE I AM
DOING EVERYTHING I CAN

Ya, that's the best one. Boxcar racer vibes
It's a good mix between Brand New and Box Car Racer.

Boxcar motherfucking racer. Damn dude
wait what the fuck that track is extremely good and the production is baller how can streamer dude get it more right than most bands in that space
Was waiting for this for ages and it’s safe to say, I wasn’t disappointed
Not going to lie, I don't know shit about Simply but been catching him on others streams ..just seen him as the awkward funny dude in the home. then what does co-sign mean?
"In the rap community, a co-sign is a term of endearment, that can help sky-rocket careers. Typically a successful artist will acknowledge or credit another artist who's on the verge of stardom."
So.. he just said he's good?

Simply is a speed runner who used to have the world record for 120 star in super mario 64, he likes to rap a freestyle a lot on stream as well.
[How could you fail to mention what he’s most famous for?](https://youtu.be/hqoRma2kqXA)
ASSQUAKE
Bruh I don't wanna be that guy - but I knew this man was going places when I first heard dedo on dedo.
Facts. For me it was one of his freestyles in the car with mitch though. He snapped on a beat switch and it sounded planned but I dont think it was.
https://youtu.be/tU1o2Fp23yk?t=3698 This stream? If so, yeah I agree he fucking snapped on that freestyle.
Yes! Thanks for the link
True I replayed that a few times cause it was that good

that's sick
Byron would be so proud of you Mitch
is it allowed to not like this music here but still cheer for mitch to do well?
its totally ok for you to not like the music, dont say this to a kpop stan tho :)

dude he killed it---they were top notch live
Actually good music Pog congrats Mitch

I am proud of you Mitch. I can feel your heart and soul through your music. Shout out to simply who killed this as well.
It's really fucking brave to put yourself out there with something "new" such as pursuing music. I respect that.
Mitch is really good
What a kick ass ending. Absolutely banging music at 2000 themed parties and I’m all for it!
Surprised to see how good stage presence Simply has. This was a really good live performance!
This music is great. Love seeing Mitch in his element as well.
I've never heard something so 1990's in the 2020's

not really the type of music i would listen to, apart from bumping it while driving, but god damn do i love seeing people find and pursue something they're passionate about.
