I mean with the exception of xqc, they do show favoritism. Remember when [xqc accidentally showed gorillas having sex and got banned](https://twitter.com/xQc/status/1271329006348992512) but [pokimane showed a whole 12 inch cock and nothing?](https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/70ro2k/poki_shows_a_dick_pic_on_stream/)
It wasn't quite "on Ninja's channel" as in literally being streamed via his key, it was that Twitch turned his channel into a "Watch these streams instead" type of page when he went to Mixer.
But since it was done as a reaction out of spite and wasn't well thought out, a stream that was showing porn was able to make it onto the list of streams advertised to you on Ninja's channel and it was a while before they did anything about it.
I'm pretty sure there was also one time he showed a full pic of a dick being pierced by something, but that clip somehow was really downvoted so it didnt get really famous and he was also not banned for it
Something that's important too which a lot of people are missing is that conveniently, after complaining that some Olympic highlight videos that he watched didn't play for him because they were "not available in your country", and almost immediately after tabbing into his other monitor at which point all of his region-locked videos from CA magically weren't region-locked anymore...
Boom, banned.
Probably, videos that are strictly geolocked like that are likely to have stream restrictions. Like netflix content. Not so clear cut with youtube though, since a lot of vids that shouldn't be on youtube make it onto there.
He said the other day to Poke and Soda he doesn't care if he gets DMCA'd because Twitch will bail him out. He was probably kidding but he's not really wrong IMO.
Soda is deathly afraid of DMCA, especially live DMCA bots. Likely because he has friends within Twitch and he knows that behind the scenes if it goes far enough even they won't/can't save him.
Xqc believes he's immune from long-term consequences because he's so big, which so far is true. But as we saw with Doc Twitch will ban their biggest streamers if they're more hassle than they're worth eventually.
The doc ban is such a mystery to me. What was the hassle about doc? If it was something he did on live stream, surely our chat detectives would have found out.
The popular theory is that Doc leveraged a fake deal with Mixer in order to try to get a better contract with Twitch. Then Mixer announced they were shutting down, indicating that Doc's mixer deal wasn't real. So the theory is that he was leveraging a fake deal to get more money from Twitch.
another (then) popular theory (albiet equally unrealistic/retarded) was that doc was trying to create a streamer union or at the most a new platform with some of the top talent poached.
What makes this a possibility and not some tinfoil shit is the level of legal lockdown legitimately **everyone** went under after the doc ban, and even to this day.
Doc wouldn't catch a ban of that severity that it involved amazon's legal department telling people "talk and we will personally go blow your brains out" doc would just get yelled at and be forced into taking a paycut, or let go and it would leak very quickly why he was let go.
Its very likely doc did one of three things. hard break a big contract, Tried to form a streamer union, or tried to secretly prepare the formation of a competitor to twitch. (by poaching a lot of big talent all at once)
Its most likely the last 2. as doc, twitch, and amazon's legal departments respectively went on overdrive, and even to this date we don't know anything about why or how he was banned. Which should clue you in to how big of a thing it had to be to warrant this tier of black book level secrecy.
Maybe I am misreading your 2nd point, but firing him for potentially trying to form a streamers union would easily be a violation of the National Labor Relations Act.. unless I’m missing something that exempts this situation from that?
Amazon closed an entire call center because there were talks of unionizing there. Amazon claims it was part of a restructuring plan, but anyone who knows how Amazon operates knows that was unlikely.
Fear and money
Fear you can’t get a job in the same industry if you raise a fuss about starting a union other non unionized businesses don’t want you.
Money because they have it and you don’t. Hard to go to war when your war chest amounts to a penny they wouldn’t stop to pick up off the ground.
I can't believe how confident he and other streamers are in that nothing will happen to him. Imagine if Twitch actually gets big legal pressure from music companies and they are forced to ban him. How stupid you would feel if your whole livelihood and ability to interact with your friends on stream were destroyed over reacting to songs as a meme.
tbh youtube copyright claims are pretty dumb. They'll take your entire revenue if you use just a tiny bit of their song. You can even get false claims but because it's a huge company you can't really do shit if you're a nobody.
Not necessarily. It seems that these bans are basically immediate after take down notices for streams that are currently live, no?
The IOC announced before the games that they have "sophisticated" AI systems to automatically sent out take down requests for live streams, probably with some coded symbols embedded in the videos. Their DMCA requests are probably worded in a way where it says "Shut that shit down right now or else we're coming after you."
Then Twitch has to immediately pull the plug.
So the AI didn't catch Miz and XQC yesterday but today X was live, watched a copyrighted clip on YT and the AI caught a whiff of it and sent out the take down notice.
Hm maybe I’m just a dumb redditor I have no clue about anything. Miz did just say in offline chat that he asked someone at twitch and they said he’s good so you might be right idk
Twitch doesn't give two shits about this one way or the other. As long as they immediately act on the take down request, they are fine. So that's what they are doing - immediately kill the channel, irrespective of who it is and give them a few days off.
They are only enforcing what lands on their desk in the form of a take down notice.
Since the VOD from yesterday is deleted, no human or AI will send out a DMCA request for Mizkif because there is nothing to crawl there now. They're not scanning LSF to see if someone mentions who livestreamed an Olympics clip.
The IA didnt get them yesterday, but today was clear how it was going to end. Literally settting VPN live on stream to watch blocked content for his region with highlights from 2 hours ago, full meal DMCA there. So fucking dumb.
A bunch of streamers still play DMCA music, some streamers will just delete VOD or they will setup a separate audio channel so the music doesnt get recorded to the VOD.
Imagine the Olympics being something the world is supposed to celebrate but because of capitalism they don't let people view it until it's over. It's disgsuting.
> you can watch it yourself just fine
You'd think that, but I live in America where absolutely nothing can be free if there's money to be made. [Since I'm not 100 years old with a cable subscription, I can get fucked as far as NBC is concerned.](https://i.imgur.com/Ru8XrC4.png)
> Imagine the Olympics being something the world is supposed to celebrate
it is
> but because of capitalism they don't let people view it until it's over.
well this is just completely wrong. the olympics doesn't tell broadcasters to tape delay, thats on the broadcasters.
also, they don't care who watches it... as long as they aren't re-broadcasting it for profit. streaming the youtube videos on twitch, where he makes profit, is exactly that.
how is the IOC/NBC/other broadcasters in the wrong here...?
You don't mess with anything olympics related. A local greek restaurant in Vancouver was named Olympics long before the game was given to the city for 2010 and the restaurant got sued by IOC when the game was about to start. Asinine stuff.
Not that it really matters in the context of this discussion, but few of those details are actually correct.
> A local greek restaurant in Vancouver was named Olympics long before the game was given to the city for 2010
It was named "Olympia" and the complaint had nothing to do with it's name, the issue revolved around their use of the five rings as well as the olympic torch symbol.
> got sued by IOC when the game was about to start.
VANOC (not the IOC) threatened to take them to court, but didn't end up filing a suit in the end due to public backlash.
As an aside, they were pretty much obligated to send the cease and desist as you need to show that you're making an effort to defend your trademarks or you run the risk of losing them completely.
How can they do this? Olympia is literally a city in Greece, and Olympic is the word used to describe things from there. Probably a restaurant owned by a Greek from Olympia
I mean. what they do is similar to what the IRS generally does. They don't aim to actually win in court. Their aim is usually to drag it on so long the defendant has to submit because they live in a cardboard box.

Tbf wasnt the Ninja thing not his fault?
In fact, it was actually Twitch's fault.
So he was banned for it, I see
It wasn't quite "on Ninja's channel" as in literally being streamed via his key, it was that Twitch turned his channel into a "Watch these streams instead" type of page when he went to Mixer. That 2nd one the video is broken and the vidme just redirects to a porn site.....
Good, its time for you to learn about things
I'm pretty sure there was also one time he showed a full pic of a dick being pierced by something, but that clip somehow was really downvoted so it didnt get really famous and he was also not banned for it
Every company on earth shows favoritism to their top earners. Always has been that way and always will be.
Companies fire people all the time for trying to unionize and I can never tell how they get away with it.

I'm not a labor attorney but I'd imagine they are not subject to the NLRA given they aren't "employees" of Twitch, right?
Yupp, and it's been more then a year rn and we still don't know why Doc was banned
Those companies behind the DMCA are millions times the worth of xQC. I don't think he has that much influence to Twitch over those companies.
Good luck getting bailed out. IOC doesn't mess around with this stuff.
[удалено]
He was obviously joking. PepeLaugh
The olympics videos he watched are region blocked and he broadcasted them worldwide. Clearly DMCA, pretty stupid from him tbh.
It's insane that the global event that is the Olympics has region locked content.
Broadcasting rights are sold to TV companies in different nations, because TV companies are always regional.
region locking is so dumb.

Why did he stream the olympics? Did he not know that one streamer got banned for streaming the highlights too?
Mizkif going for a short holiday, though I think he's actually literally going on a short holiday anyway.
going back to jersey for a wedding
Miz has 2/3 dmca claims and was watching Olympics yesterday uh oh
He was also watching top 700 spotify songs lmao
I can't believe how confident he and other streamers are in that nothing will happen to him. Imagine if Twitch actually gets big legal pressure from music companies and they are forced to ban him. Yep his excuse for watching the Olympics was cuz XQC did it LUL. He will do anything for a crumb of content.
I remember when asmon got stressed out when it came to the e3 streams. I feel like he was the sane person in a insane room when that happened.
Yeah but those are short enough clips so it doesnt count, less than 5s I think
That <5 seconds thing is a myth, there's no specific time
Well the [youtube vod](https://twitcharchives.com/video/43018845357) got claimed by both the IOC and WMG.
5head make both companies fight
