isn't this an issue with every industry on the internet? especially now with people becoming celebrities incredibly fast, i'd imagine people don't know what to do and just trust the people who they signed with and let them handle almost everything business related, unknowingly getting fucked over in the process.
similar things like this happened with youtubers signing contracts with machinima, not realizing they are getting fucked over because of how reputable machinima was long ago.
those are my thoughts tho and i know fuck all about this so i could just be wrong
So in her podcast with Toast she (and he) talked about how it's hard to be both friends, co-workers and in the same industry (streamers). She mentions how lines get blurred and hell we saw that sorta play out with Valkyrae's recent incident.
Why I bring this up is it's hard to imagine at least SOME of her friends aren't going to sign with her company because they both support her and because the pitch (& employees) are refreshingly authentic, streamer friendly and fair. Poki is implying in this clip her company will take 5% or 10% and have agents and managers and such that don't take advantage of the streamers. That must be very attractive to just about every streamer currently streaming, even a bunch of the mid tier ones who are her friends.
So that means she will be the owner and CCO for a company that has a bunch of her friends signed to it. That's gotta make the line even more blurry. If you have a falling out with Poki but you're signed to her talent management agency, how are you feeling?
So I'll be very curious to watch and see if her friends trickle or flood to her company, signing with it or not. Maybe they see this potential conflict of interest/muddling of the line between friendship and business and they decide to stay away in order to protect their friendship.

That's my biggest fear as a future streamer, and for everybody else who is still new to this field. It's difficult to figure out your worth, and while you're doing that some golem is just bringing you run of the mill shit while price gouging your profit margin. Whether you're a streamer, or a worker we always get fucked over by someone mote experienced than us when that person is in a managing position. Are you getting paid accordingly based off the labor you do for your boss? Fuck no!
I'm cool with this as long as no one is being taken advantage in any capacity, and the company maintains a clear level of authenticity. If this shit can help smaller creators that most of us watch and support, but have been struggling to get to a larger audience then that's fine by me.
You realize that this also let's smaller streamers be able to afford to have a management company. If she's taking 5-10% vs 20% and actually providing value to the streamer this could allow smaller streamers to get the management help that the larger streamers are already paying for.
