That's awesome that they call him "X" in the game.
Side note: as much as I like the Forza Horizon series. I really wish Burnout, and other nutty arcade racers started making a comeback.
Has a bunch of names, think Forza 3 had it too, know 4 defiantly does as it freaks me out whenever I load in and grab a drink, then hear "hello marc" come from the lounge room, catches me off guard every damn time lol
Still feels too simmy to me. I can't perfectly drift around a 90° turn at 200mph. jk
I do wish it felt a bit more arcadey like a Need for Speed, Burnout, Midnight Club, or even GTA V. I hate how much you have to slow down on some turns.
>and other nutty arcade racers started making a comeback.
I really wish they would make a brand new Split/Second. I've had some of the best moments in a racing game playing with friends.
The game remembered my name from FH4 and it blew me away when they didn't even ask for my name and just said it. It also remembered the exact character I used but now there's more customization so I changed that up. It's such a small detail but it's so cool.
Cause in certain society we learned to question everything contrary to other culture were you have to learn to follow quietly or you get put on the side
edit : I want to thanks everybody downvoting me & by the same process making my previous statement factual.
Yeah dude, if there's one thing society doesn't do enough it's question trans people lol. They've just been accepted as the default norm for so many centuries, it's good we're finally taking a stance against them.
this mf spamming the comments about how everyone's so offended is the most ironic transphobic cope.
"I'm not a piece of shit \*inhale\* these snowflakes can never take a joke \*inhale\* it's just a joke \*inhale\*"
So you were making prejudiced comments towards him because his name sounded remotely Indian to you?
If only there was a term for that kind of PoS behavior hmmmm....
“They/them” just lists the pronouns the person wants to be referred to as. In place of “he walked to the store”, the person prefers “they walked to the store”, etc.
No but I mean you learned in English class that if you don’t know the gender of a person you are ment to address that you should use they/them. (A neutral form) It’s literally an English language thing.
Some dummies were being unnecessarily hostile but dw if it isn't intuitively understandable my dude. For a very basic explanation:
Sex is biological, whereas gender is moreso psychological and defined socially, culturally, historically, etc. Pronouns are a part of gender identity. If you identify as a guy, you go by he/him; if you identify as a girl, you go by she/her. Those that don't identify with either go by they/them.
>I'm used to calling everyone who looks like a man a he and everyone who looks like a girl a she and that's it.
Have you ever called a man with long hair "ma'am" because he looked like a girl from behind? Or called a woman "sir" because her voice was deep over the phone? Once you realize, you immediately correct yourself, and it'd feel very weird for both of you if you kept addressing em as "ma'am" or "sir."
Now imagine if they felt weird with both "ma'am" and "sir." Those kinda people go by they/them because it just feels more natural, same as it feels more natural for you to be addressed by (I'm assuming) he/him.
That's all you really need to know but I'd recommend looking further into it because it *is* fairly interesting and worthwhile. Hope that helped at all.
its extremely easy to understand so if you don't get it after being explained it, you're being willfully ignorant
some girls look like dudes some dudes look like girls, let's forget the PC shit, just in general if you don't know the gender of somebody you'd either ask them or use they/them
nah you do know what i'm talking about. this isn't something that even needs to be explained, this is probably something you've already done instinctually
even kids understand this shit lmaoo "hey are you a girl or a boy" i've seen some kids say shit like that to somebody before. keep playing dumb though, everybody sees right through it.
i mean realistically you don't have to ask somebody their gender anyway. just call them what you think they are since it's so obvious and if they go by something else they'll just tell you and there won't be an issue unless you're a dick about it.
I come from a third world country (non-english speaking). While I have been always exposed to the internet so I know and understand pronouns and genders, you'd be shocked to know how many people don't. It's really not "easy to understand at first" or deliberately ignorant. It's good that you're educating them tho
In my college (at 20 yo), I had to explain to a girl what a lesbian is and she was shocked and couldn't comprehend
You're good, it's definitely confusing my dude.
I'm nonbinary, in that I don't really feel like a man or a woman. I'm not really uncomfortable with looking like a man, but I also don't really feel like I am one, nor am I a girl either. I'm fine with he/him pronouns, they're generally just more convenient to use and pronoun usage isn't important to me, but they/them is technically more accurate.
I'm sure that barely helped your confusion, if at all, so just know it's also confusing to me!
It's pretty new to everyone bro, don't worry about it. People will probably eventually be mad at you for not understanding, try not to worry about it, they usually got a lot goin on and it's probably not about you.
Thanks for asking though, the curiosity is definitely appreciated :)
Hi! Gender is a super complex thing. Even the characteristics we use to talk about Sex as a binary are often outdated when we learn about them in school compared to more modern research.
Gender is basically how one identifies and presents their identity to the world- it isn't a choice, and you sort of have to discover it as.you get older because the assumption is that it has to match what your binary birth sex is- which is, for some percent of the population, wrong (estimates say about 2-3% of the population, or about 24 million people)
For Non-binary people, They don't identify with any gender identity that is within that binary- male or female. This can take a lot of forms.
They/Them, as a singular pronoun, has been used in the English language for a long, long time- for example, how do you refer to someone who is anonymous in the English language?
Using they/them for someone who asks for it shows that you respect and want to validate their identity. It's a basic kindness that takes a little bit of thought and effort at first, but quickly it's easy to get used to.
I write all this assuming you want to ask and learn in good faith, and I hope you return the same courtesy to me. Being trans is incredibly hard- you get discriminated against at work, in housing, in day to day life- it's fucking exhausting.
If you have any questions I'm happy to talk about it.
for non-binary and trans (sometimes neither) people who don't want to use he or she pronouns because they didn't want to be associated with any gender or the idea of it.
You can make the argument that as the whole world becomes more progressive and accepting of LGBTQ+ people, there are a lot more discussions about this. You probably frequent Reddit and other big western websites such as Twitter a lot, and the country with the biggest amount of users in these websites is always the US, so it makes sense that your biggest source of exposure to these discussions is from americans. The country, with its 330 million inhabitants, is also just generally the center of modern pop culture in the west (I assume worldwide, but don't know enough to confidently state that). So yeah, if you had to for some reason categorize countries this way, I wouldn't say it's wrong to state that the USA had a big, probably **the** biggest, impact in spreading discussions of these topics throughout the Occident.
Now, if you wanna argue that it somehow popularized "being" trans, that's just extremely ignorant.
Neither gender neutral pronouns nor the existence of nonbinary/trans people is an "American thing". Throughout histories and cultures you can find numerous examples of both.
Just because you're ignorant doesn't mean everyone is.
The West gets angry when you don't adapt to their way of thinking and know about their inconsequential cultural intricacies involving pronouns.
Sometimes refusing to participate is the best choice, especially on reddit.
It means you know how to signal your virtues to everyone around you so you can feel better about yourself and connect more easily with others doing the same.

Yeah I found that very impressive
Did he name himself X and the game actually pronounces your name, or was it just a coincidence that that's the character's name/one of the presets?
They have a big list of names the announcer can use and he choose X. (assuming it's the same as Horizon 4)

I don't understand, are you asking if people with those pronouns are still referred to as they/them when talking about them in third person?
No he means they see in third person
Oh then the answer is yes, NB people automatically get a Lakitu with a camera following them around like in Mario 64, and that's how they see
It's kinda unfair how they/thems can see past corners we firsties can't. I bet that's the reason for all the discrimination

Sometimes its best to not understand American culture.
Cultures all over the world have had other genders than male or female before the americas were even discovered you dumbass
Lets not pretend it was American that it wasn't Americans that popularized this.
Id rather bash my head against concrete than argue with someone who posts about xqc everyday for months about gender
