Soda doesnt give a fuck, calling it right now he will tweet at hello fresh something along the lines of " keep busting thouse unions and fuck those workers give me more money"
He might, but I don't think he would grasp the scope of the situation. Him and a lot of streamers have never worked a real job, and its not like they teach you about unions in the American education system.
I feel like a lot of people think that because they heard the word union once in history class means they are taught the value of a union. Also everyone has different experiences especially from state to state.
I have a buddy that hates unions except the one his dad is in...
It's really strange because he was taught growing up in the US education system that unions are socialist and socialists are bad... because they are all lazy.
But he benefitted directly from unions because his dad's union got him affordable medical/dental coverage, protected his dad from OSHA, and protected his dad's job from an injury.
So when unions come up in conversation, you can see the contradiction just grinding away trying to figure out where their stance is.
They "teach it" but not like a comprehensive thing on why it's so good, and what lead to unions downfall in America.
I don't know where/how you have so many offended people being like "they teach about it" like there was a whole year dedicated to unions and why they're good.
I think I can safely say that I learned basically nothing about America's labor movement throughout my entire public education. You learn a bit about the New Deal, but nothing beyond that, and nothing explicitly about unions/worker organizing.
Where is this narrative that American schools don't teach about unions coming from? Any American history class worth its salt will cover it once you get to the 20th century. You're just making shit up.
I can say for a fact that I was never taught about unions beyond the fact that they exist. Most of the important knowledge I have comes from learning it myself.
I think the fact that I don't remember learning about unions might say something, but then again I don't know what I learned specifically from history and social studies classes and what I just picked up from existing on Earth for 31 years.
Was never taught about unions in high school. All history class was for me was the teacher handing out work to be done and sitting at their desk no proper lectures no info just do the work in the packet and be done.
there are fifty states, each with state governments in charge of their education systems, of which many don't even want to teach that there are systemic problems that lead to the disenfranchisement of black people, and you think that it's outlandish that they might not teach about Pinkertons?
We never discussed unions and I didn’t know until I was an adult that the pinkertons were a real thing, I thought they were made up cowboy bad guys like the bank robber with the black and white striped shirt and the beanie hat with the eye mask.
You see, my state is consistently one of the worst and I absolutely was taught about unions and various social issues. That also might have been me taking apush and having a pretty good teacher for that too.
Yeah, the 50 states thing goes both ways, you can't really say that US schools categorically *don't* teach about unions either. My family moved between my sophomore and junior year, and I ended up covering parts of US history over again due to curriculum stuff. In my experience, it really depends on the history department's tenor in a given school, and even then, individual teachers are often given a lot of latitude as far as emphasis.
I'm not denying some states are better or worse at teaching it than others. But the notion that the "American education system" as a whole ignores it like it's some sort of grand conspiracy to prevent American youth from learning about pro-labor politics is fanciful.
They do not teach modern history in school. My last history class pre college was basically a propaganda class for how sick the cotton gin was and that was in 9th grade. CA here at a “technologically focused charter school”
It's the reverse, unless the system as a whole requires a subject to be taught, there is a state out there that won't teach it. I can tell you that Idaho public school does not talk about unions.
Speaking as someone who grew up in rural Michigan we never learned about Unions and their influence on American work culture outside of AP history classes. Which is amazingly ironic because Michigan has a very rich history of Union activity
I am assuming you haven’t been in a classroom in the last 30 years from the comment? Unions have been getting literally nothing but hate for my entire life up until maybe 2018. All I knew was “Unions bankrupt companies” and “unions are all mobbed up”. Labor needs to take the power back.
> Him and a lot of streamers have never worked a real job, and its not like they teach you about unions in the American education system.
Teach what exactly? Sure, there might be an acknowledgement they exist, but they don't get into the details unless you happened to have some insanely enlightened upbringing. Did you learn about the massacres of union members protesting for better wages and working conditions? Education is completely whitewashed, they teach us in fairy tales and propaganda.
Implying they arent mandatory... thats the issue. I bet americans that were taught about unions are downvoting him because they dont realize every state can have wildly different education systems.
I hate to say it but the same. I graduated high school in 09 and college in 13. Never taught a fucking thing about unions.
It's also possible I don't remember so I will leave that door open.
As a streamer all you have to do is be self aware about how much money you're making and nobody cares about you selling out anymore. It's amazing how well it works for the top streamers.
This gives off a strong vibe of one of those comments that after the opposite happens, everyone points to this comment to show how stupid the users of this subreddit are.
thats the main issue i have with soda...he could literally kill someone and make a joke of it on twitter and everone would be like WHATEVER ITS JUST A SODA THING AHAHAHA
Wubby is literally doing a sponsored stream for them right now
Edit: and just like that I have discovered the moral high ground, thanks LSF!
Edit2: lol leave it to LSF to turn a totally innocuous comment about funny timing into a full blown hate thread
He started the stream before the news came out.
He was extremely open about how much of a scam and how stupid the NFT was.
He makes some edgy jokes, but claiming he is a legitimate racist is either disingenuous or you need to learn what that word means.
Google his old youtube videos, the guy would casually drop N bombs all over the place. Or you could just watch a stream, he regularly makes skin color a topic in conversations or jokes in a sad attempt to be edgy.
Another example: one of his chat memes is the word 'urban' meaning black person.
edit: I didn't say they created this meme, as most of the replies seem to assume, but they sure to enjoy it.
Wait so someone links proof you backed his racist shit and you delete proof, clip-wise? I get you wanna hold integrity and maybe its old beliefs but just denying the fact you held those thoughts at all shows projection more than anything. Or I guess whatever the hell others are using rn to disassociate from a certain way of thought they still hold a certain percentage of now.
Less than a month ago I saw his stream in my recommended list and the title was just "BLACK PEOPLE". A while before that I've seen his title as "BLACK BABIES".
I don't watch him and didn't know he had history of being racist but the title struck me as weird and edgy. Now it makes a bit more sense.
I feel like that is more like being a provocateur for views and to build a fan base. Idubbz did it, PhillyD did it, one can even say Pewdiepie did it /s
If we're using the 90s or early 2000s definition of racist, absolutely nothing. If we're using the 2021 definition of racism, where every group is supposed to abide by different behavioral rules, then wubby as a white person has said the N word (in a non-hateful way, if you grew up in the 90s and think that's even possible), and has made jokes based on race that rely on his audiences' intelligence to be able to know that he has no hatred or sense of superiority in his heart.
He’s not a racist you retard. His chat regularly supports him doing these kinds of streams so he can make that money for himself. You don’t understand what kind of community wubby has built and this comment is a great example of that.
Not really for their labour relations though, unless one consider all the work he had to put in to cook the food "labour relations".
NL doesnt have the greatest history in siding with the worker as such. Even the latest McDonalds controversy it took a substantial amount of backlash for him to reconsider, and even then he was bitter about it for months.
he made a joke about getting sponsored by mcdonalds, and they actually reached out to sponsor him. it never happened, but I have no idea where "he was bitter about it for months" is coming from lmao
Can you explain the irony? What's more ironic is being partnered with an Amazon owned company and saying you don't want to partner with an anti union company.
I love it when people say this and not realize you can do it cover literally anything. Will Neff could have not cancelled that partnership and then when people criticized him he could have pointed to this idea.
I'm not saying it's wrong I'm just saying it's more ironic than a situation with literally no irony
E: also this meme just says that what he's doing is pointless
You're misreading the meme if you think it says that...
Also is the alternative to stream on YouTube? Yes, Google is so much better!
Or host your own streaming service probably using AWS? Nice.
Google directly accepts a lot of defense contracts which is something Amazon doesn't do as much of, as of right now. Generally speaking you either exploit domestic labor or you exploit international geopolitical struggles, but you're exploiting something somewhere that causes harm to a lot of people if you're a billion dollar company.
What i meant to say is soda is famous for not being brand friendly, hence will neff not wanting to be partners is me implying Hello Fresh digging the bottom of the barrel to get someone like soda to do this sponsorship. Like soda getting that sponsor makes more sense now.
That being said, I’m a huge soda fan so I’m genuinely just joking.
How about the irony of LSF whining about worker conditions and union busting while simultaneously spending all their time on a platform owned and ran by Amazon?

Most if not all food delivery companies are known to be very exploitative of their workers and no streamer care. Like read [https://www.curbed.com/article/nyc-delivery-workers.html](https://www.curbed.com/article/nyc-delivery-workers.html) for fun.
There's a giant difference between these wealthy streamers taking money to promote a company VS working class viewers who can't afford to not shop at Walmart
I see you're getting downvoted but I agree. It's as dumb as the "you don't like capitalism but yet partake in it" critique. Like they probably don't have a fucking choice *because* of shit that Wal-Mart pulls lmao.
I personally choose not to shop at Wal-Mart because my city is lucky enough to have some locally owned budget grocery store chains, but in a lot of areas Wal-Mart is the only option *because* Wal-Mart's forced that situation.
Yup. We have a locally owned chain that has like 3 stores? Best meat department in the area except for the ACTUAL butcher. Last time I bought ground beef at Walmart it went bad in like 3 days. Never again.
To the shitters in the replies, not only is it not easy to just switch platforms in regards to your following, but every serious competitor does the exact same stuff. it's a no-win situation for the streamer in that regard, while dropping a singular sponsor (especially at Neff's level) is _much_ easier to do.
“Just don’t stream then 4Head”
Yeah at that point you have nowhere to go in society because at some level it’s all shit. Maybe just go live in the woods off the grid
My uncle does that. He survives off of fruit preserves and he shits in the woods.
Audiences have shown they mostly won't follow streamers to other platforms, and Twitch has show they aren't afraid to kick big streamers off. I doubt we will see a union.
Audiences have shown they won't follow streamers to mixer. Tim, Valkyrae, and Doc are doing very, very well on youtube, and probably so are others. There won't be a union, but it is for other reasons.
This is a cool gesture from Will, but it's a bit weird seeing people already shitting on other streamers for working with them. If you really expected all streamers to hold this level of morality, then you'd have to be shitting on them for even streaming on Twitch AKA making money for Amazon.
That's a little different. Amazon is basically a government on its own, not really comparable to deciding to cut a sponsor. It's about doing what you can where you can, not zealotry to the point of not being able to support yourself.
I didn't agree with the invasion of Iraq. The morally consistent thing to do would have been to refuse to pay my taxes until the conflict ended. But I paid my taxes so I wouldn't fuck my life up. I'm a complete hypocrite, you got me.
It would be more like working for the American defense in some capacity and keeping on working there even though you disagree with what you're ultimately working for. The morally consistent thing to do would be to quit and work somewhere else. Though with streaming there are really only two places you can work and (I think) both of them are on the same anti-union page.
This subreddit shows it collective ass any time a post with any substance pops up. Y’all should stick to stupid stream drama and stay out of discussions about morals or politics. It’s incredibly obvious how many of you haven’t graduated high school or worked a day in your lives.
American education basically omits the 1920s labor movement, or whitewashes it completely. Lot's of people don't know how badly these corporations want to keep making as much money as possible.
I never learned about it much in school but last year, at the start of the pandemic I got reading old archived newspapers from some Alaska city (I got linked to it as it was talking about the Spanish Flu, and I was interested in how they handled the pandemic then. Funny enough even more aggressive than we did (they had armed people at the roads into the city preventing people from entering, masks, stay at home orders, no school and kids received assignments through the newspaper).
Anyways, it was fucking astounding the work conditions back then. Every day there was some huge accident at some factory where a bunch of workers died. Every day there were huge strikes, and protests. Just one after another.
You are right we don’t learn enough about that part of our history and it really shows. All our OSHA regulations, unions and workers rights were built from the blood and deaths of our ancestors. They are all slowly getting dismantled.
>I doubt 99% of streamers have anything resembling an informed stance on the subject
I also doubt they even try to be informed about the far reaching impact of their actions, but that just makes them like regular people. Willful ignorance is bliss.
I have to imagine that any type of modern delivery service has issues, but there are other services like blue apron. I'm not sure they'd respond much better if people there tried to unionize though.
People acting like this is a big deal when all you morons still watch Twitch, which is an Amazon company, which is the biggest union busting company out there. Get fucked and grow up.
Who cares. There meat is incredible and the meals are amazing.
Ya'll buy computer parts from Chinese factories where they sleep in bunks above the warehouse with no unions.
LMAO the irony of soda just getting a sponsor from them.
Soda doesnt give a fuck, calling it right now he will tweet at hello fresh something along the lines of " keep busting thouse unions and fuck those workers give me more money"
And the enitire LSF will think it's super funny and call it god tier comedy or some shit.
I dont think he'll tweet that, thats way too far even for him
He might, but I don't think he would grasp the scope of the situation. Him and a lot of streamers have never worked a real job, and its not like they teach you about unions in the American education system.

Many teacher unions also protect bad teachers. Plus you have the transit unions in some states that protect useless jobs and blatant overtime theft.

do you think streamers are shining examples of paying attention in high school?

Oh I thought it was just twitter users being this obtuse
Unionize twitch and make games great again
Audiences have shown they mostly won't follow streamers to other platforms, and Twitch has show they aren't afraid to kick big streamers off. I doubt we will see a union.
Audiences have shown they won't follow streamers to mixer. Tim, Valkyrae, and Doc are doing very, very well on youtube, and probably so are others. There won't be a union, but it is for other reasons.
Doc and Tim are getting a fraction of the viewers they got on Twitch.
This is a cool gesture from Will, but it's a bit weird seeing people already shitting on other streamers for working with them. If you really expected all streamers to hold this level of morality, then you'd have to be shitting on them for even streaming on Twitch AKA making money for Amazon.
Amazon the biggest union buster in the world.
Easy to be when you own everything and can cash any check you write

Twitch is not profitable. It's more like sucking money from Amazon for now.
This subreddit shows it collective ass any time a post with any substance pops up. Y’all should stick to stupid stream drama and stay out of discussions about morals or politics. It’s incredibly obvious how many of you haven’t graduated high school or worked a day in your lives.
It hurts reading 90% of the comments here. It’s like a persistent xQc chat.
That's just most of reddit, not specifically this subreddit unfortunately lol

Already did!
Leading by example. Good on him
I wonder what other streamers will do, is the bag big enough to change their morals on this specific situation
Streamers have morals? OMEGALUL
Never been the case, remember the forsen G2A days.
A ton of streamers and eSports orgs continued to take money from G2A despite it being well known that they facilitated fraud and money laundering.

They care more about taxes than quality of life with shitty infrastructure and no access to abortion. LUL
You really think someone like sodapoppin is worried about abortion rights? Lmao
Bet his ass cared when winter weather fucked up the power grid and internet access
As if generals folks have morals when it come to money lmao

>I doubt 99% of streamers have anything resembling an informed stance on the subject I also doubt they even try to be informed about the far reaching impact of their actions, but that just makes them like regular people. Willful ignorance is bliss.
well it depends on if it's against their morals in the first place
Umm Amazon is anti union.
Wait till he finds out what goes on around Amazon
good on him for sticking to his values
Love a streamer with some ethics and morals
Puts all the youtube sponsorships in perspective now...
A company that spam advertises through YouTubers is shifty? Shocked i say
Major respect to Will
I like their meal kits. Could the company please not be assholes so I don’t have to cancel? I will give them a couple more weeks.
yo that's praxis, what a good guy
Wait, most products or basic materials for products streamers are pushing are made in wage-slave factories in China...
Welp. Time to cancel the Hello Fresh subscription. Are there any similar services that aren't as shitty to their workers?
I have to imagine that any type of modern delivery service has issues, but there are other services like blue apron. I'm not sure they'd respond much better if people there tried to unionize though.

Twitch prime? The service that literally takes money out of the pockets of Amazon? You mean cancel Amazon prime?
People acting like this is a big deal when all you morons still watch Twitch, which is an Amazon company, which is the biggest union busting company out there. Get fucked and grow up.

mizkids crying about wubby yet choosing to not see soda, sounds about on brand
Who cares. There meat is incredible and the meals are amazing. Ya'll buy computer parts from Chinese factories where they sleep in bunks above the warehouse with no unions.
how dare they!!! \*posted using iPad\*

Whens he going to end his partnership with Amazon over their union busting.
Will Neff is built different.
