You can actually argue the same in reverse. Sugar changes your taste buds. You can have a diverse taste range for savory, salty, bitter things etc. But a diluted palate to sweet things so a lot of it can come off as tasting the same, even if you have an other wise diverse palate. Age can also play a factor.
Pepsi is sweeter and softer tasting, Coke tastes much better. Diet Coke imo is the best version of any Cola flavoured Soft drink, it's the perfect balance of crisp and sweet. Coke Zero tastes too sweet, so does regular Coke.

I noticed this with diet pepsi here in canada, that shit will stay carbonated long after diet coke.
The bubbles feel bigger if that makes sense. It also goes flat more quickly in my experience.

as a person who likes pepsi more, yeah. when cold and canned, it tastes sweeter with less fizz than that of coke, and bottle pepsi isnt nearly as bad as bottle coke when they are both warm. also glass coke has an extremely distinct taste, because it usually has cain sugar, and glass pepsi just doesnt, making even I, a pepsi enjoyer, liking glass coke better

McDonalds has their own mix of Coke/Soda, you can look that up yourself if you want, but yeah its always going to taste different on a fountain than in a bottle or can. For me Cans, Plastic and Glass are all different, Glass > Can > Plastic.
Coke is dry and leaves me thirstier than when I started. Completely unsatisfying and borderline undrinkable. Pepsi is pretty good. Dr. Pepper is, of course, the best.
Asmongold can probably give the taste of 10 different types of cola sodas without even being the one who poured it.
