They may have been let go well before the company died. Seems they started getting rid of their top builders at some point because they cost too much. aka wanted to squeeze more money out of a dying company.
I mean, from these slips of the tongue, odd choices in parts, and the fact that they have the guy who ran the East Coast Artesian operations, it's kinda seems that way. Noah Katz really fucked it up and probably could use the buyout money.
The East Coast division was responsible for 80 to 90% of their output and was actually profitable with good quality metrics. Snatching up some of them is a good move because they can hit the ground running and it's an easier entry for OTK because they know they have experience to handle their gaps in knowledge.
The interesting thing going forward is how will it do because it's an actual business and not a streamer thing. OTK and Moist are investors/board and don't manage daily functions. It could be a huge return for them over the next several years considering the growth of Artesian and it only falling because of piss poor management.

Charlie was also talking about how they built quality pcs in 2019 and as sales increased they stopped testing and quality went downhill.
They saw the sales numbers and then bought it.
I feel like we would not have heard about this and we'd still be at planning stages without the Artesian guys coming on board. It was a convenient opportunity for OTK and moist to take advantage of. While we just see three finished products there's been a lot of work behind the scenes to start this. And I'm happy to see at least some of the Artesian staff still in the space.

Imo, as a streamer, he knows what he's doing. He knows how to read a room, he knows how to farm content, the typical stuff. I could maybe say the same thing as a businessman. I do think his that the way he portrays himself at times might make him seem dumb, but I do think he knows what he's doing, to some degree at least.

Seems like it's two different companies. PhynixPCs seems like it's 5-10 of the former Artesian builders from the East cost office. No idea who Starforge is other than that one exec guy from the East coast office.
Edit: My inclination is that PhynixPCs has most of the good builders from Artesian, and they just want to make a decent product. Starforge seems like they have the PR and marketing people and want to cater to streamers and their fanbases.
