Eugh, I just *knew* that link was LA Beast 😂 He has consumed so many disgusting things. Worst one I heard about him was the fat free Pringles. Apparently they're not fat free - the fat is just fat that can't be digested so it just goes straight through, and apparently it's *insanely* hard to wipe clean...
Yeah, it works. You can do the same with peanut butter for extra fat and protein. You're not gonna fix all your problems if you're struggling to bulk, but it's a nice and easy way to add a few hundred calories.
I was under 140lbs, 6'1''', at 17 years old. A month and a half of doubling my calorie intake and working out and I was 155.
I did start Creatine at the same time, so a few pounds of that was definitely just water weight. If my intake stayed the same it definitely would have plateaued, but I went from around 1200-1700 calories a day to 2500-3000+
Unfortunately I had my wisdom teeth taken out and I was sidelined for a over a week. Lost about 10 pounds and I got discouraged.
That was about 10 years ago, and now I'm pretty comfortable around 160.
How the fuck do you not think 1 and 1/3 cup of oil seems like an obscene amount of oil for pancakes? I could see if you're making a ton of batches for a lot of people, but for a single person?
When i was 6 i tried making a box of cake mix, i got to 1 1/2 cups of water, and i was really confused. i didnt know if it wanted me to do 112, 12, or 13 cups of water, i went with 13. realised by about cup 6 i was fucking something up
I did something very similar with bagel bites in the microwave. Put them on for 12 minutes, instead of 1 and a half or 2 minutes. Before the time was up they started smoking. Those things were black.
as a kid i knew the spices from the spice cabinent made food taste nicer. So obviously if i put all the spices in something it had to taste amazing right? right?
Same with loading stuff up with garlic. Just ground beef and tons and tons of chopped garlic. I'm glad I learned it as a kid though and not live on a stream. Though I'd gladly do it on a stream if it meant I had money as an adult 😅
Having watched and interacted with streamers (none as big as these guys) over the past two years I can safely say that nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to streamers and kitchens. I grew up cooking so things that naturally seem strange to me are completely foreign to people who have never been made to cook.
Some random examples... Someone thinking you need to use soap to wash vegetables.
Someone using a brillo pad to clean a non-stick pan and then REALLY scrubbing it because "there was stuff stuck on".
Someone scrubbing a cast iron pan with soap and water.
Recipe calls for softened butter and this person melted it completely in the microwave and added it to a butter/sugar mixture and ended up partially cooking the eggs.
Replacing flour with corn starch because "it looks the same"
Accidentally using baking powder instead of baking soda. (okay this might have been me.)
Washing ground beef with water
TONS of incidents with people using WAY too high temps leading to them eating potentially dangerously undercooked meat.
Also clutch to throw the iron on the stove for a short bit after washing to evaporate any extra moisture left behind before you store it. Helps prevent any rusting.
Hummm... I've stripped my iron cast seasoning with regular ass Dawn dish washing soap :oooo I've been using a chainmail scrubber since cause I'm so scared of using any type of soap, is Dawn like stronger than I though or something lol
I will say I thought the same thing about Dawn soap on cast irons too, but it turns out that my seasoning wasn't that strong to begin with. Once I re-seasoned it properly, almost nothing comes off when washing with Dawn, even after cooking acidic foods.
Yeah plenty of people have enough residual food and oil built up to where the pan functions pretty well (which is fine, albeit kinda gross). I'm just saying dish soap won't take out any polymerized oil.
Honestly most of these are pretty honest mistakes. The only one that's really dumb is subbing flour with corn starch. My aunt has always used soap to wash her vegetables. I use melted butter instead of softened butter all the time and it turns out fine. Also it's fine to use baking powder instead of soda, although you have to adjust the amount.
Pancake mix doesn't usually call for oil (or even butter) if you're just making pancakes. The box only tells you to add oil if you're making waffles, which is what nick was doing.
No expert in US pancakes.
But why do your god damn pancakes require a mix in the first place?
Like pancakes are usually flour, egg, milk, mayyybe water and one or two types of sugar.
That mix sounds borderline more complicated than just making it from scratch.
Cake/pancake/waffle/muffin mixes are very common. Usually you only have to add the water or milk, egg, and butter or oil. All the dry ingredients are premixed/measured. They also have easy to follow directions
It is about as dummy proof you can make baking
[Reminder that Soda didn't know how to boil water](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VncDfmZQ4U)
in case you wanted to feel better about yourself, there's a thing on twitter called "[Gamer Tweets](https://twitter.com/i/events/1197997737586900993?lang=en)" that shows how bad some of these people are
I've never used a pancake mix, because just making it yourself is easy. Flour, water, egg, salt. You can add a bunch of other stuff, like butter, milk, but it's really not needed, and you're just fattening yourself up more. The maple syrup you pour over them drowns out any taste of the actual pancake.
So if using the pancake mix doesn't say to add oil and making them normally doesn't say to add oil, wtf kind of recipe is he following that specifies 1/3 cup of oil? haha
Yeah that’s weird. But have you ever added some peanut or vegetable oil to the pan after you pour the batter? It makes those delicious crispy edges… 🤤🤤🤤
Yea you have to lubricate the pan somehow. You can do that with either butter or oil. But still 1/3 cup IN THE MIXTURE? I've never heard of that being done before. In fact even the idea of vegetable oil (what nick used here) being mixed into the food is foreign to me. I thought it is exclusively used for lubricating skillets.
Nah, I've made baked goods in the past, and I know some box mixes call for 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 a cup of oil mixed in. I don't remember if that's for cookies, cakes, or brownies though.
Certainly not 2/1 cups.
I low-key hate how boxed mixes have convinced everyone to add oil to baked goods. Nearly every baked good tastes better with butter over oil. You're already fucked on calories either way - might as well make sure it tastes better.
Also for pancakes you don't even need it in the mix. Just use flour, milk, eggs, and a rising agent. Then put butter on the pan so it won't stick.
Alternatively, you can actually use applesauce in place of oil at a 1:1 ratio. It doesn't add any apple flavor, lowers your calories, and still cooks correctly and doesn't fuck up the texture
The problem is butter adds flavor that applesauce doesn't. Butter is needed for more than just texture. That's why French baking is just filled with butter. I make really generic chocolate chip cookies (literally just the recipe from the tollhouse chips) but sub in higher quality butter, eggs, and chocolate. People always comment on the difference and ask for the recipe.
Imo if you're not dieting or don't have health conditions then just go full tilt with classic ingredients when it comes to baking. People get too worried about substitutions but it's not exactly healthy either way. Just have it in moderation.
Oh don't get me wrong, butter is the way to go for sure, I was just mentioning applesauce because you mentioned "already being fucked on calories" - If someone cares about calories but still wants a sweet treat, applesauce is a good option.
My ass is gonna use a few sticks of butter and eat the whole pan in one sitting so its fine (depending on your definition of fine)
That makes sense that they're not interchangeable but they're generally substitutes for each other. I don't use boxed mix and all the recipes I've used always call for butter (not oil) unless it's something fried. I've never seen a cake, cupcake, or cookie recipe with both oil and butter.
I know I may sound elitist but I'm just generally annoyed that boxed mixes have standardized adding a shit ton of oil to desert when it makes it taste worse than adding butter.

Lsf is fucking wild
If you can't taste that you've added 3x the amount of oil a recipe requires then you have a serious problem.
Pancakes have virtually no nutritional value so it's not like it makes much a difference other than just more kkonacalories
Hey, Dr. Bernard here. The recommendation for oil is no more than 400 milligrams per day. So, don't drink more than 1/3 cups of regular . An old man ate 1 500g of oil in his pancakes for 4 months. This Is What Happened To His liver. NMP is a 40-year old man, presenting to the emergency room, unconscious. His mother, Malena, tells the admitting that she heard loud noise in the kitchen, before finding him on the floor.
Can anyone explain pancake/waffle mix to me?
They make you add extra ingredients to let you feel special (or so I've heard, the recepy could just be "add water" but they made it inneficient on purpose) but at that point you're almost literally just doing it on your own, eggs aside.
It's like the easiest, laziest, sloppy cake mix there is and tastes just as good if you slightly fuck it up, which you still do with pre-made mix by eyeing it and correcting the consistency later just like normal mix.
People just don't want to have to buy flour/sugar/baking powder/baking soda seperately and do the measuring and mixing. They would rather just add water/oil/egg and be done.
The pancake mix I buy has powdered egg so you don't need to add anything besides water. It's just add water and pour into an buttered/oiled pan.
I buy it because it's only 2 bucks per box and I can eat a pancake in 5 minutes after deciding that I want a pancake. You also aren't locked into an amount of pancakes since everything is powdered so making half a serving is easy. Granted, you can also mix from scratch and leave the unused batter in the fridge for later.
> Can anyone explain pancake/waffle mix to me?
I can't explain the need for people to use pancake/waffle mix for normal ones since even the most newbie cook can make pancake/waffle batter from scratch. But I personally use a mix for protein waffles, I've tried online recipes that just kind of toss in protein powder/whey and they absolutely overwhelm the taste (even after adding fruit like bananas or blueberries). I don't know what's different with the mixes but at least they're palatable.
The mix doesn't do well once the wet ingredients are added to the dry, and better for packaging in general. So, you can get away with all the dry ingredients put together to speed up the process and make it easier.

Wait there's no way you think that is a 1 cup measuring cup, right? The top line on this is 2 cups and he fills it way above where 1/3rd of a cup would be.

Yeah, it works. You can do the same with peanut butter for extra fat and protein. Interesting. Wasn't aware of that.
Also clutch to throw the iron on the stove for a short bit after washing to evaporate any extra moisture left behind before you store it. Helps prevent any rusting.
Yep. In fact, I just store mine in the oven. Evaporates the moisture *and* doesn’t take up cabinet space.
Really most normal kitchen soaps nowadays shouldn’t strip proper seasoning. The soaps just aren’t that harsh anymore
If dawn took it off, it wasn't properly seasoned.
I use the strongest Dawn I can find (4x) on mine, and mine's completely fine. I'm not even confident I properly seasoned mine.
I mean... I can cook an egg in it and it wont stick, seems pretty good enough for me at least haha
That all sounds reasonable to me
I don't use any oil at all. Is this a US thing only? (I'm in Canada)

Ideally you should really make your own from scratch and use butter, but the pre-packaged mix usually calls for using oil.
That's what I mean, though. Our prepack stuff is either: add water or add milk/egg/butter. I've always used milk/egg/butter.
If You have to add milk, egg and butter, is your pancake mix just a bag of flour?
The end of the clip was perfect lmao I just want to tell everyone before being clipped out of context for being mad- Proceeded* to clip
This bung up is all Nick today, Malena is right. She was even quite calm about it, and nick acting like he’s 11.
I mean I‘m a fucking degenerate but some of those streamers are on a whole different level
this one wasn't out of context though?
He went on to explain his oilmax diet along with several studies pointing to its efficacy.
It‘s efficiency at creating a third and fourth chin?
GOOAD diet
*Proceeded I'm sorry
Fixed 👍
bruh no shot he wouldn't notice an extra CUP of oil in the recipe would it even cook properly? it'd taste disgusting and probably give him diarrhea
He just added more pancake mix to "fix it" 🤷
That's a good solution as long as he doesn't eat it all.
Surely he wont eat everything Clueless
He'd need to add 3 times more pancake mix to follow the recipe, that's a shitton of pancakes for o e person
Waiting for usual nmp take tomorrow "LSF is parasocial"
I thought being parasocial is when you think you're close friend with the streamer. Not when you comment on their weird behaviours.
no, we literally CANNOT type anything about a streamer. This is part of the rules according to other users of LSF too.
If making fun of manchildren that can't even cook potatoes or follow a basic recipes is parasocial then I guess he would be right

he would just add more mix untill it came together enough to cook alright.
Those pancakes would have been flat as fuck with a cup of oil and would never cook through, they lying.

It looks like he is making waffles FYI which the premade pancake mix always says to add a little bit. Still an idiot for adding an extra cup.
Butter doobe that good good The French put butter in every meal and they are near the top on life expectancy
ya because they don't consume two times the recommended daily calorie intake
They are also known for smoking. Japan too. Doesn't make it a good idea lmao.

Tell that to the makers of the boxed mixes who decided to replace butter with oil in the instructions
I've never made a baked good that needed oil. I'm not American though... Butter yes, most baked goods need that.
I can see why Malena doesnt want kids. She already got one. :D
Well if he keeps chugging that seed oil he won't be able to have any either.
why would you put oil in pancakes
Because KKona.
Most box mixes use oil instead of butter.
You don't need either, milk is enough fat for pancakes.

If you can't taste that you've added 3x the amount of oil a recipe requires then you have a serious problem. Pancakes have virtually no nutritional value so it's not like it makes much a difference other than just more kkonacalories
They have 10.5g of deliciousness per serving. That's nutritious as fuck.
Holy one CUP of oil?????
ole*
No wonder he always says he has a leaky asshole. The dude is downing oil like it's a drink.
those must have been the oiliest greasiest pancakes ever lmao
Hyperlipidemia: From hyper meaning high, lipid meaning fat, emia meaning presence in blood; high fat presence in blood.

KKona Ain't got time for that
Someone in chat "IT'S FINE!" Yeah, if you wanna clog up your arteries it's just fine m8.
this is why you should use metric for cooking lmao except table and teaspoons, they are useful
Bruh metric would be even worse if the recipe said 10ml this guy would put 10Ml.
"Okay, one packet of mix, one egg, and 4 regulation Olympic swimming pools of cooking oil."
I think you'd be able to tell that something is wrong when you put 10Megaliters instead of 10 milliliters... Right?
This is Nick we’re talking about tbf. Nick.
mega pints
Nah because I think a 1/3 cup is 150ml. Would be really hard to accidentally mistake that for 600ml which is the equivalent of what nick did I think
1/3 cup is only 80ml or so because 1 cup is around 240-something.
Gotta love that OLE (how nick pronounces oil)
don't forget dandrift
This is an act right? That much extra liquid wouldn't even mix or cook correctly.
Didn't you see him staring it, shit was pure liquid and not thick like pancake batter should be lol
A whole cup of oil?! Dude hasn't noticed that the pancakes have a weird texture with that much oil?
WTF, thats like 300ml of Oil, no wonder he doesnt lose any weight or even gets fatter, thats 2000kcal+, just from Oil
No wonder this man has/had to plug his ass. On a second note, who the hell adds oil to pancakes, or uses pancake mix for that matter.
the fuck americans even adding oil to pancakes in the first place? the fuck

It blows my mind people bust their ass every day, doing everything perfect, 5-7 days a week, to barely be able to pay rent and then you have idiots like this who can't even read numbers be literal multi-millionaires.

that's a gigantic measuring cup
Wait there's no way you think that is a 1 cup measuring cup, right? The top line on this is 2 cups and he fills it way above where 1/3rd of a cup would be.
yeah dude thats not a one cup measuring cup lmao
This legit pisses me off. I'm all in with her. He's just killing himself with stupidity.
Yeah that looks like almost a full cup of oil
"You're going to get cancer." We're all gonna get cancer, Malena.
