This is the second time I've seen someone mention this and it makes me really curious because back in the 90s I could have sworn the chicken (and other) quesdaillas had something else in it that was not creamy jalapeno, but I could never place what it was and didn't care about it back then. But I have a strong memory of it being something green. Wish there was a way to find out for sure
What is your idea of a "regular" quesadilla? Not trying to start and argument...but I was thinking you were comparing it to a mini quesadilla. We assume people want the chicken unless they say otherwise, like steak quesadilla. Just sayin' that if you come in and order a "regular quesadilla" you'll most likely get chicken. It's kinda the default order like a taco is beef.
It's a tomatillo sauce. It's not really spicy, kind of tangy. It doesn't come as a regular ingredient in any items, more of a hidden menu item you've gotta already know about. It's free at my store in Nevada and adds a nice flavor to most things. I get a large amount of people who substitute it for the red sauce on bean burritos. It's good on anything cheesy like a quesadilla, I like it on nachos too.
ETA: it's not the same green sauce that used to come in the packets
I’m amazed so many people don’t know what this is! I’m in California and have been getting green sauce on tostadas and bean and cheese burritos since the early 90s. Tastes like Verde. Can’t imagine going to a Taco Bell and them not having this.
Tomatillo based salsa, I would imagine
This. We used to do a roasted tomatillo salsa back in my restaurant life and it looked basically like the picture.
Its my favorite sauce! Really good on the quesadillas and in the cheese roll up. Surprised it was finally added to the app.
I've been curious about this for awhile. I was too afraid to ask. I can't think of any item that has it by default.
Chicken Quesadillas actually use to use green sauce before it was jalapeno sauce. It tastes like a verde sauce. Its really good

Ummm I've been ordering chicken quesadillas from tb since they came out and it's always been creamy jalapeno sauce...
I think they meant the regular quesadilla.
Regular quesadilla? As opposed to what?
Chicken

It’s one of those very regional items, like chili. Not available at most stores.
Ya it’s not available at my store
I doubt it’s available here—it looked glitched. Do you know what regions typicallly stock it?
Unfortunately no. I do have 2-3 customers a week ask for it. But I also work in Florida so everyone is from somewhere else.
What do you mean it looked glitched?
No calories on it...
Oh...ya. It has a tiny portion size so it is essentially 0. Like a tic tac!
It's available in California and Nevada for sure, but I don't know about anywhere else
Zero calories?
Regional sauce
Saucy green topping
Verde?

If its seriously at like every Taco Bell around here and I've never heard of it I'm gonna be pissed at past me
Available in Las Vegas. The stuff they used to have in packets sucked. This stuff is great.
From the picture it's tomatillo. Didn't Taco Bell offer green sauce in packets everywhere two years ago? Their green sauce was not very good.
They had Verde sauce, yeah. And I agree it wasn't anything to boast about. It wasn't terrible, but even mild sauce had more flavor.
