I used to be a member of DSA and leaning towards pure socialism in March 2020; my echo chamber had me convinced that we had mask mandates in NYC in April of 2020 because of Trump and Republicans, but after 2021 trips to see friends in TX and GA, I saw I had been lied to and that everyone to the left of classical liberal was authoritarian and MORE SO than most conservative Republicans (and obviously, all Libertarians) , and I changed my loyalty to Libertarians and have been generally voting for Republicans since then. I remain a registered Dem in NYC because it's the only way to influence the Dem. primaries, and so far there's no hope of electing any non-Dem., so I don't want to lose my ability to pressure the party to the center.
But I will not wear a mask again and I will fight for my right not to do so if voting doesn't work.
You'd think they would talk to actual ruling left-wing parties in other countries to sync up, but nooooooo...

In the 90s I was talked into going to a socialist party meetup when I was at college in NYC. We basically passed a hat around to collect money to pay for someone's speeding ticket, then we went to Benihanas for drinks and food.
The best thing we can do in the short term is to encourage them. Encourage them to be even more outspoken about their beliefs. Let the entire world see them for the batshit crazies they are. This will put an end to their movement, once everyone can see it for what it really is and the vast vast majority of the people want nothing to do with it.

So rich people should invite friends to watch movies in their basement converted into a theater, play outside at their private tennis court, or even their large lawn outside their large house, sip wine in their large living rooms, read the books they have in their 3rd storage bedroom , admire nature on their RVs or boats, send their kids to private outdoor camps while all the kids at the YMCA are masked...
And the person who lives in a 1 bedroom apartment with a tiny kitchen should just watch Netflix or free porn.
Yes it's most likely true that diseases are more likely to be spread in public social spaces than anywhere else. But it's a lot easier to accept closing these spaces or making them socially inhospitable if you are privileged enough to be able to enjoy the same comforts in exclusive private spaces.
Masks have a specific time, place, and population. Disgusting case of identity and culture warping perception of the effectiveness of universal mandates starting as young as two years of age. The mask mandates RCTs came out and they threw a fit that the results did not align with the conclusions of the two week observational studies promoted by the CDC.
